Nice hotel with genuinely warm staff from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The kitchen was out of action one evening so dinner wasn’t possible, but the manager handled it really well, came over personally to apologise and sorted us out with a complimentary drink. A small gesture but it went a long way.
The room was clean and comfortable. The décor is on the traditional side, which I’ll be honest isn’t really our thing as we’re in our 30s, but it’s well kept and I can absolutely see other guests loving the classic feel (coach trip customers aplenty). It’s more a matter of personal taste than anything else.
What really made the stay was the people. Every member of staff we came across was genuinely lovely, but a special mention has to go to Marcus at the bar and Sylvia (I think that was her name) who were both brilliant. Friendly, attentive, and exactly the kind of people who make you feel like a welcome guest rather than just another booking.
The one thing that caught us off guard was the £15 per night parking charge. I live in central London so I’m no stranger to paying for parking, but it still felt steep. We only found out afterwards that parking is free if you book direct through the hotel, and honestly that information needs to be front and centre during the booking process. It wouldn’t have put us off staying, but it might have changed how we booked.
Minor gripes aside, we had a really enjoyable stay and would happily recommend it.
