No double glazing rook was absolutely bloody freezing they had radiators but werent on window did not shut properly had to pay 20 pounds to oay to oark af there property when we had altrady paid for there hotel quite poor tralky couldnt get in the room untill 4pm which was a joke i will nt be recommending this property i love bournemouth and have stayed in a few property's but woll not be teturning here

Nice room, hotel is managed by a partner hotel.
Parking is expensive with it costing £22 for 1 day - it is classed as public parking on there premises even though your a guest, superior room was basic but the view was great which was main feature of this room. Alternatively everything else is very outdated

We turn up the place was derelict as a sign on the door saying go to the Colton hotel and there wasn’t any space in the Carlton. I was with my four-year-old daughter. I then had to book another hotel to stay in Bournemouth. Absolutely disgusted with the service that I’ve got, I am waiting for a phone call to be Redeemed my money and I want compensate for this. Absolutely disgusting. Can’t believe it was even allowed to be booked.

Spotlessly clean room, excellent service from the room attendant Alison, also the handyman Alex was hugely helpful, doling out extra tea , coffee & milk on departure day.
The chap on reception kindly allowed my friend to stay with me for the second night & was chatty & helpful, arranging taxis etc.
Late check out was appreciated too, of course without extra fee!
Yes, the hotel could use a lick of paint on the exterior, however the interior is very good, just needs a couple of scatter cushions to brighten the room up!
Bottled water was shown in pics, yet not supplied, however when mentioned, i was given two complimentarybottles by Alison, i cannot praise her attentiveness enough.
Excellent sea views, and i do like a bath and a shower, which my room had.
Great experience, would stay again.

The room was very dated and the windows all very draughty. There was no central ceiling light which made the room very drab and dreary even with all the other lights on. The cost of parking was excessive at 20 pounds per day. The bar was very expensive at 7 pounds for a pint. More people would frequent the bar if it was less expensive as it is a nice area to sit in. I questioned the high price of parking and was told it is the same all over Bournemouth but the last time we stopped in the travelodge just down the road it cost us 7 pounds a day. The bathroom was very dated and had been painted very poorly with paint splashes on multiple surfaces and dust on many surfaces whivh my vleaned off before we used it.

Actually I was staying in Carlton Hotel. Anyway, room was clean. Breakfast was good. Staff was excellent in helping and solving problems. Specially Jamal (maybe I'm spelling the name a bit wrong, but he is originally from Uzbekistan) who worked night shift. He is a very good man and he is a very good at his profession. Big thank you to him.

Arrived late, left early so didnt experience much of the hotel. Room 1101 - a classic double nice enough with clean bed linen and towels, a large flat screen TV and decent furnishing and 6' double bed.Love making noise could be heard from one of the adjoining rooms - but sadly not from our that night (lol). No view from room. I'd give the bathroom a 7 outof 10 as it suffered from the usual british hotel standard of the odd dusty area (back of disabled rail). Overall good value for what we paid. We would return.

Check in efficiency was painful, & for some time quite concerning.. with more or less zero customer service, reassurance or initiative thrown into the mix.
My partner checked in a between 1-2 hours before I arrived at the hotel. By time I did, the night porter had just recently begun his shift. He struggled to find the booking details- i should add that my partner's phone was, at the time recently stolen.. therefore, nonexistent! Meaning I would need to obtain the room number from reception in order to locate our room- this did not seem overly odd, or big a deal as you do expect there to be some miscommunication between nighttime and regular staff. I was advised by the night porter he was about to give his boss (I think the duty manager on that particular day) a call to assist him. When I returned from the balcony, having smoked a few cigarettes, to allow what I thought would be adequate time to solve the issue, the said managers is now present. I didn't exactly feel a very warm welcome as I approached the desk, and actually had to ask myself \"so I take it you know what's going on?\" To which he responded that he did, however there was no sign whatsoever of our booking either amongst the paper records, or on their systems. This continued for further 5+ minutes -after which, he called somebody above him presumably

most disapointed to be told that parking would cost an extra £20 per day ( not mentioned on website, only that on site parking was available )breakfast served in next door hotel as work supposedly starting in our hotel ( no sign of this during our stay ) also on stating my displeasure at this was told I could cancell and go elswhere, not at all welcoming !
the room was not cleaned in the three days of our stay although we had put up,the do not disturb notice on the Monday morning for approx 3 hours.
would not recommend this hotel !

We had a lovely rime away but the hotel is in need of some updating, the floors were incredibly creaky and noisy, not ideal for a family stay with a baby. The breakfast was good. We were unfortunately disturbed at around 1am by the alarms going off which terrified our 3 month old.

Best place to stay in Bournemouth

This was one of the best holidays I ever had, and the hotel experience made it so much better. They first upgraded us to a sea-view room from a standard room. Then whenever we needed something, it was available. The facilities at the next door in Charlton is amazing as well. I generally don’t provide a review after a stay, but they actually went above and beyond to make us happy, which is very rare here in the UK. Adding to the amazing service is the cost, which I felt is very reasonable as well

We had a Large family room, but it was not very clean and we had issues with hot water. Parking £35 which seemed excessive.

Nice you can use the pool next door and great location.

We left an item in the room which we were told wasn’t there (even though the room had been “cleaned” and we knew exactly where it was). We then had call the next day saying they had found it and we could pay for them to post it back to us, which was a little annoying.

Stayed here for 4 nights in Family Room, 2 Adults and 2 kids. Room was adequate for our needs. Kids said sofa bed was comfortable. Upon request, we (my daughter and I) had the king-size bed split into two singles. Bedding and towels were all nice and clean. View from window, which only partly opened for safety reasons, was of the fire escape at back of hotel, only real aspect we didn't like. Bathroom was totally functional with very good rainfall shower and nice hot water.
Buffet breakfast was very good and liked very much by the kids. The balcony by reception/bar offers great views over the bay and is nice to sit out on in the evening with a drink etc.
Short walk to town, even shorter to start of zig-zag down to beach.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful which made everything enjoyable. Lift to upper floors too. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the East Cliff Hotel. Would recommend it, if on a budget, and will certainly stay here again.

The only word that comes to mind is decrepit.

From the outside the paint is peeling and it looks bad. The lobby area is really nice but our room was in a terrible state. The carpet was ripped and stained. Cracks in the ceiling, stained toilet seat (it wasn’t pee stains leftover just some sort of stains that wouldn’t come off).

Overall a very shabby hotel and I wouldn’t recommend it nor stay there again. I only stayed there for a night but for a longer stay pick something nicer.

It is however very close to the beach which is why I picked it so that’s a plus point for it.

We found East Cliff hotel to be as expected for a BW 3* - a little worn around the edges and old fashioned decor.
Although nondescript in colour and furniture, our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean (3rd floor sea view) as was the bathroom.
We opted out of breakfast (extra £15) as we prefer not to be constrained by set times and it was easy enough to find coffee etc 10-15 minutes downhill walk away on the pier prom.
We appreciated the free drinks offer in lieu of any housekeeping.
It was easy to access the pool next door at the Carlton but it got crowded early on.
The staff make this hotel - thanks to Jamol in particular for pleasant, efficient, patient and helpful service.
East Cliff is in a good position for reaching the beach but remember there is an uphill climb back or a taxi ride of £6-8 depending where you leave from in town.
It is also in walkable distance from the train station or £6-7 by taxi.

Kids running the corridors all night till 3am

Hotel is in fine condition and value for money. Staff are trying the best they can but some issues with hot water running out due to a tank issue meant I was offered another room.
This was excellent and handled by receptionist in a calm and professional manor.
What let the trip down was the kids allowed to run up and down the halls knocking and shouting on each others doors till 3am. Not the hotels issue but gives an example of the type of people who frequent these types of hotels. Did notify the reception on check out and he said they would try to stop this but I was leaving so I hope the other guests who complained about the same thing at breakfast got this cleared up for the rest of their stay.
Apart from these issues it was straight 6 or 7 out of 10 for the facilities and a 9 out of 10 for the staff.

The bedroom was very hot, a fan was provided. The curtains were hanging off the rail so couldn't be closed to block out the sun, there was an old cheerio on the bathroom floor. There was a mould patch on the ceiling in the bathroom. The TV in the bedroom did not work.

But when Expedia contacted the manager to act on our behalf, the manager said no.

I am writing to express my disappointment following our recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations due to several issues.

Upon arrival, we noticed mould on the curtain, a dirty bath, and a non-functional telephone in the room. While we appreciated being offered a 50% discount on the first night, we have since reviewed the charges and noticed that the full 50% was not actually refunded as agreed.

Additionally, despite having the “service room” label displayed on our door for the entire day, no housekeeping staff attended our room. We were left without clean towels and other essentials, which caused significant inconvenience.

While Josephine, the manager, was helpful and tried her best to assist us, our overall stay was disappointing. Given the circumstances, we feel that more could have been done to rectify the situation, but unfortunately we had limited options at the time.

We kindly ask that you review our concerns and the refund discrepancy and advise on the next steps. We hope to see a resolution that reflects the inconvenience we experienced.

I drove past the hotel twice because I thought it was closed down. The outside of the building is horrendous.
Check in said 11am-4pm got told to go away till 4pm but had to check out at 11am so only got half a days stay. Room had an inch of dust on the windows which felt like they would fall out when you tried to open. Such a shame as the views were fantastic but the hotel is not.

After reading some of the reviews we didn’t have high expectations so we were pleasantly surprised on arrival - although the outside is in great need of a paint we thought the inside looked pleasant enough and we had a good size clean double room
We really appreciated use of the sister hotel as the atmosphere there seemed a bit more alive with families
using the pool and sitting in the bar etc .
The one thing I’d change is the check in time I’d rather 3.30 and leave room by 10.30 as 4pm check in feels a tad too late .

The room was very spacious , like a super king room with 2 big singles beds put together. For us was perfect, with one side of the windows facing the beach. We choose do not have housekeepers as we had everything with us. (We took our rubbish daily out and we keep the room clean ) For not having housekeeping they offer us 6 free drinks which we didn’t use them as we been daily out eating as we need halal food. We did not use any other facilities from hotels.

We called in advance to inform the hotel that we would be checking in late, the lady on the phone left a message for the night staff.

We arrived just before midnight to see a number on the front door saying to go to the Carlton hotel or call a number for assistance. Called multiple times, no answer. Went to the hotel across the road (Carlton Hotel) to see another letter on the door to ring a mobile number. Called the number multiple times - no answer. We had to forcibly pull open a powered door that was off, to get into the hotel after being locked outside for 20 minutes in the freezing cold after a long drive at midnight. There was also another couple who were already checked in that were locked out of the hotel!

There was no staff at reception. We finally found a member of staff who apologised, stating his phone was on ‘sleep mode’ (do not disturb) so the calls didn’t come through. His number was on the front door to the hotel!

We were then told we were staying at the Carlton hotel, and had been moved from the hotel we had originally booked. ‘They move all their winter bookings to the Carlton Hotel’. We eventually got our room keys, and 2 free drink tokens as a ‘sorry’. We get to our room and find a letter stating to claim free drink vouchers at reception. So not that much of a special ‘sorry’.

The room decor was also awful. Horrible wall paper and paintings. In need of an update.

The swimming pool was closed but fortunately we were able to walk to the hotel next-door and use their swimming pools. The Sauna and Jacuzzi facilities would have been very welcome, if only they were working!
The room that we had on the same level as the reception wasn't great, as we didn't have any kind of view from the window.
We were offered another room but declined it, as it was even less suitable for us.
Anyway, it was just a one night stay, and overall, it was an enjoyable and worthwhile stay.

**this is a review of the Carlton hotel which we were moved to.

We booked to stay for 2 nights at the East Cliff hotel as we were running the Bournemouth half marathon. We arrived on Saturday to be initially told that they are closing for winter and we would be “upgraded” to the hotel next door, the Carlton hotel, but we would have to stay the first night in the East Cliff hotel. Eventually another member of staff came over and told us she had managed to get us a room for both nights at the Carlton hotel instead, which did make things easier.

The check in was good and the staff were very nice but unfortunately that is about as good as it gets.

On Saturday we dropped our bags at the room and went out to meet friends. When we arrived back to the room there was a wedding going on and we quickly found out that the sound proofing in the rooms in not good at all. We were kept awake until 1:30am with the loud music, and we had to be up at 7am to get ready for the half marathon we were running which was really not ideal. Obviously this is no fault of the other patrons or staff, but it should be highlighted that the sound proofing is not good.

We returned after the race on Sunday. We wanted to go in the jacuzzi/sauna, which we quickly found out were both out of order. It was raining Sunday evening, and when we returned after going for a meal we found that the rain had come through the ceiling and soaked our belongings. I did highlight this on checkout. Would not stay again.

Staff were wonderful, very welcoming, professional, and attentive.The room was above expectations, bright clean and comfortable.One or two minor areas of detail in the room need patching up but very acceptable.Common areas are excellent, breakfast was great and the breakfast team were super welcoming.

It was okay. I booked executive room whicb was average and had nothing special in it.
Despite having patking available on site, i still had to pay £20 which was a surprise.

Car broken into outside hotel. All facilities advertised were at sister hotel and limited openings times. Room itself was nice inside and great view but everything else is a huge let down. Also advertising an outdoor pool which looks like it hasn’t been used for years

I had a wonderful experience with my daughter. We ended up extending. The only thing I was a little disappointed in, was I requested to extend my stay and was told it was fully booked but I found exactly the same booking on Expedia for the days I needed. But honestly that’s a minor. The stay itself was excellent
