Nice clean room, bathroom sink was a bit yellow ish though. Our room was also located in the annex entrance side so I was up until 4am because of the in and out banging of the door, so when the door closes it feeds back to our room door. The floor boards upstairs were creaking like the whole floor was about to fall on you, and the walls are so thin that I can hear them talking upstairs. It was easily the most horrible experience I had in a hotel for a while considering the entire property’s interior was immaculate.

I really liked how the hotel was presented, it was a pleasure to see lovely gardens and such a stylish interior. Every room was really like a room from an interior designers catalogue so thoughtfully decorated we had the extra bonus of seeing it decorated for Christmas. The lounge was really nice with complimentary hot drinks and cookies. Wonderful hotel not far from the town and beach.

Hotel was really nice, friendly staff, breakfast was really good and the lady serving was really nice and welcoming. Room was clean and spacious, some areas look a little tired in the room which could be resolved without too much effort to make the stay that extra bit special. Would definitely go back and try and different room.

Very friendly and polite staff from checking in until we left. Easy parking, the room was lovely, comfy bed and a tasty breakfast. If anything it was too warm for me but we turned off the radiator and opened the windows which very easily solved that. Overall we loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Disappointed to find I wasn’t on the list for breakfast. Had to return with an email proving I was entitled. They blamed hotels.com. Room was a little below standard in places. Shower tray had several large chips, some had been painted over. Needs replacing. Blind was missing from bedroom window, clearly broken and not replaced. Wash basins were a bit well worn, signs of repair. Top of door fame missing into bathroom. Overall a nice stay but top money requires the room to be perfect. Especially when remedial work is required

The breakfast food was of poor quality,terrible scrambled egg. The water in the urn did not boil, so we had to ask the waitress to boil a kettle in the kitchen, the bread was cheap
we would think, you need to supply better quality food.
The good news is the receptionist was most helpful and the bedroom was spacious.

We had a great stay at the Derby Manor - the hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. With a 15/20 minute walk to the pier/beach/town the hotel was great for our short stay in Bournemouth. The free parking was a real bonus too. We'll definitely be back next time we want to stay in Bournemouth!

Breakfast starts at 8am? What?

I chose this hotel on the way to Bournemouth but wish I had picked a different one.
Now when I say that I dont mean to put the hotel down or give a bad review.
The hotel is fine, its not run down, is quite smart and was very comfy.
The staff were good for the one night I was there for.
HOWEVER, my one gripe with the hotel is that breakfast starts at 8am in the morning. The time wasn't listed in the description and I wish it had been as I wouldnt have chosen to stay.
I was on a work trip and my work day starts at 8am, if I had been on holiday this time would have been fine, but I wasnt and I had to forgo my breakfast, which in mind cost me £28, for nothing.
So, if youre working away I'd most definitely give this hotel a miss.

Also had to wait about 10 - 15 minutes for someone to come to reception , I had pressed the button many times but she only heard the last time I pressed it. Just maybe a better system.

Disappointing stay...

Somewhat disappointing experience. I booked an \"executive\" room, which was not in any way executive. The desk was tiny already and almost ½ the space that was available was taken up by the kettle and tea/coffee etc.

There was no fridge to keep water cool. The lack of fridge meant tea and coffee was made with the UHT cartons that you'd get in a budget motel rather than a supposedly upmarket boutique hotel.

The bathroom was tiny. Using the toilet was a challenge as you were competing for space with the toilet roll holder. There was a small (appx. 50cm x 8cm) shelf above the toilet but no other storage in the bathroom for toiletries. The shelf in question was literally held up with a bit of folded tissue wedged in at the front. The tap was a \"waterfall\" design with a rather slow flow and required running for anything up to 2 minutes on cold if you'd recently used the hot tap before anything resembling cold water came out. The shower was spacious enough and plenty of hot water available.

The room was clean, and the bed comfortable. However, the curtains didn't draw anywhere close to completely, and the multiple shutters did a poor job of keeping the light out.

Fortunately, I had declined the pricey (£20) breakfast. Had I opted for it, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy it as it isn't served until 08.30.

Wifi connection was reliable but very slow - around 4Mbps download and less than 1Mbps upload.

Cheltenham has a wet room!

This was our 3rd stay, but this time we were abit disappointed. The bedroom was lovely but the bathroom was a wet room. Everything got wet after a shower. the next person went in the floor and toilet seat was wet. The breakfast was really good and free parking. I will look forward to my next stay but will ask not to have the Cheltenham.

On arrival at Derby Manor with my 11 year old son, we were informed that the hotel does not accept persons under the age of 18. I questioned - and the receptionist/manager, Teresa had difficulty herself in finding on their website - where it states this unusual rule.
We were told that we WOULD be able to stay in their sister facility, Langtry Manor, nearby and, following Teresa’s phone call to summon the recently departed receptionist, we proceeded to this property, where on arrival, but after a considerable wait for the returning receptionist to attend to another couple who arrived ahead of us - we were given our room and hotel front-door keys, then shown to our room where, as we were in a hurry to attend a football match, we simply placed all of our overnight belongings (medication included), and left the property.
On our return to Langtry Manor around 10.30 pm, having bought some hot food to eat in our room, we could not gain entry due to our having been given a wrong key to the now locked front-door! No amount of phoning or door-knocking brought us any assistance and we were forced to seek alternative accommodation.
Admittedly, on return the following morning to explain things and collect our belongings, we were treated more professionally by the new day receptionist who arranged for the refund of our accommodation fees.
However, despite assurance that the managing director would contact me to make amends - am still waiting.

And to top it off the breakfast was first rate.
I couldn’t recommend this hotel strongly enough. Find out for yourself.

First impressions were nice enough. But as we settled down to sleep the problems started. The other guests were extremely noisy. With no one on reception and no night porter this went on all through the night.
The door on our room wouldn’t shut probably and rattled every time there was movement in the hallway.
The breakfast was quite disgusting and not worth the money.
We complained when we checked out, and were told the manager would call us to discuss. They didn’t bother, but we did get a message from the assistant manager saying sorry but nothing they can do about it.
If you want a nice quiet night do not come here, go with a larger hotel who can manage other guests poor behaviour

Late September break in Bournemouth

We stayed two nights in the Derby Manor. This small hotel lived up o our expectations, it was very nicely furnished and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order plus plenty of fruit and pastry options.
It was only a short walk to beach and parking was no issues. For evening meals - it is worth checking out the Bournemouth steakhouse. Good food and service.

the picture shown of the room allocated to us was not the room we were given! Carpets in dire need of a professional clean. We had to ask for our room to be serviced after the 2nd day (clean towels etc., required). We were charged £7.00 for two packets of crisps! extortionate price! The breakfast although choice was reasonable was mediocre. However the staff were happy to cater to our needs upon request. This is a fabulous boutique hotel with a lovely garden and ample parking, but the room promised upstairs originally was not forthcoming so we ended up in a downstairs room that to be honest needed a complete refutbishment.

En route to Poole Harbour.

A really good find and one which we will return to shoud we go back to Bournemouth.
The hotel is situated in a quiet, residential area, within easy walking distance of the town.
Our room, on the ground floor, was quiet and small, though had everything needed for a very pleasant stay and was tasefully decorated.
The young staff could not have been more helpful in the bar and on reception.
Sadly, we did not take breakfast, as we needed to be on our way earlier than breakfast service.

8/10 stunning rooms but sadly interrupted sleep

Myself and my partner checked in on Good Friday and were greeted with a lovely lady on reception. We stayed for one night and opted put of breakfast. She took the time to explain to us everything we needed to know during our stay - which was really helpful and welcoming. She escorted us to the Goodwood Room which was simply stunning and huge! The bed had the best quality of mattress I've slept on and the room had everything we needed! Stunning bespoke furniture which worked beautifully with the nautical decor. Sadly, the stay was only let down by the loud pipes which seemed to be related to the hot water being used by the surrounding rooms. The banging sound began intermittently at 6pm (we left the room at 7pm-12pm) and woke me at 6am through to 7.30am. I took video footage as proof of the issue and am happy to provide if needed. Upon check-out i did raise the issue with the young lady receptionist who took a note of this. In all honesty, based on the price and the interrupted nights sleep, unfortunately i wouldnt return to the room unless this issue has been resolved which is such a shame as the room features and shared spaces were beautiful.

Looks lovely aesthetically, however, the hotel itself is hardly functional. Water pressure is non-existent across the entire place - shower is a dribble, impossible to wash hands and our toilet didn’t flush/ continuously back-filled. Flickering lights in the bedroom. Each of these issues was highlighted to staff within 10 minutes of arrival, yet despite reassurance ‘maintenance’ is coming, nothing happened in our 3 days there. Amazingly however, 2 hours after leaving, the manager Thereza sent me an email saying there were no signs of any issues (despite previously acknowledging them). Her only explanation to any issue, I wasn’t pressing the flush button in enough… safe to say, I’m capable of pressing a button, so that’s an out and out lie.
Breakfast itself was okay, but I will say it seems understaffed and each morning was about a 45 minute wait for food - fine if you’re not in a rush or enjoy chatting to the other guests in the morning but possibly not ideal for many.
Overall, I’d rather stay in a premier inn even if they were the same price. Absolutely not a functional hotel and quite frankly rude management. I can’t speak for other individual rooms, however I cannot advise highly enough that you ‘The Oaks’ room and any communal areas that we had access to.

Nice Hotel - Bad Management

We paid for a premium room with a large bathroom. Unfortunately we had issues with the bathroom. The staff on site were unable to deal with the issues and it has taken us 4 days to receive a response which was patronising and rude and accusing us of looking for compensation - which you do not expect from a 5 Star Hotel. So if you are lucky enough to encounter no problems you should be ok - Good Luck!

This would have been a 5* review had it not been for a few cost-saving cuts that I can imagine have been bought on by the cost of living crisis.

The positive - the hotel is amazingly beautiful. The rooms are amongst the best I've stayed in - really liked the long. The staff are friendly and helpful too. So I very much recommend the hotel on that basis. We didn't have the breakfast as felt the cost was somewhat steep but I can imagine it is nice.

Cons- The reception is not open the entire time. Which I can imagine because the main sister hotel is fully manned. We arrived at 1pm (sometimes hotels let you check in before 3pm or you just sit in the longue) nobody was at the reception - which mean we had to wait for over an hour to see someone. Which isn't a great feeling. I'd say 1pm-3pm needs to be staffed for early arrivals. The shower head in our bathroom needs replacing as its falling to pieces and I felt only giving one shampoo/gel thing for both guests is a bit cheap (most hotels give you two).

Just small minor matters - I'd stay here again without a second thought.

Outstanding as always. We are in to double figures for stays here now and is always perfect. Standards never drop.

I have seen some bad reviews for rude staff and poor breakfasts. Ignore, as this is not true and certainly not the case, the reviewers must be thinking of another hotel or just like to pick fault for no reason. Staff are always polite, always smiling and always happy to help and the breakfast is exceptional. Rooms are perfect and always clean.

Gorgeous hotel

The welcome at check-in was nice and friendly, we were shown around the hotel and it's amenities, and showed to our room. The room was gorgeous and clean, lovely and warm and a great size. Shower was powerful and a nice corner bath.
The only thin was the water did not run cold, so had to wash our teeth and drink warm water from the tap

On raising this with a member of staff she deducted the cost of the breakfast from the bill which was a nice gesture. The mould aside I would stay at the Derby Manor again as everything else about the hotel is really good.

We arrived and there was not one sole insight despite it saying reception was open, when we came to check in, the lady in reception was friendly enough, however we werent shown where we would eat for breakfast, we were told on our keys was a key to a annex, however again werent told or shown where this door was, the room on first sight was lovley, clean, just as the pictures had shown, however, as we went to use the items in the room we were disappointed, the spotlights flickered, the ironing bored was, well broken, and then the shower, at around 7pm my boyfriend decided to have a shower, half way through his shower, the hot water stopped, he went to reception to say about the issue, where he was told, they would have to ring someone, no offer to finish his shower elsewhere, no apolgie, we eventually went out, him half showered, after not hearing anything about it being fixed and we had a meal booked, when we returned we asked if someone had looked at our shower the young girl just said ' it should be alright now' again no apology, disappointing to say the least, breakfast, i wanted avocado on the second morning to be told they werebt ripe enough yet, in all honesty it was a really disappointing stay, would not recommend, especially for the price!

Amazing property. Check-in is 3pm, and we arrived slightly early whereupon we were shown to a seating area with complementary coffee and biscuits.
The room was amazing - a large king size bed, with plenty of storage and room to move around.
Would love to stay here again, given the chance. It's a little bit of a walk to the pier area if you're not using a car (20-25 mins), but you get great views en route.

A nice place to stay and close to the beach. Only downside is the floorboards, so if you’re on the bottom floor like I was, you’re going to hear whoever’s upstairs every foot step until they go to sleep. So, I didn’t really sleep. Room was nice though.

Lovely decorated room, comfy bed, good location. Staff very accommodating. Breakfast is just okay but service was good. We had an Executive Double Room which was not shown in photos on hotels.com. Bathroom was right next to the head of our bed with a glass door.

Beautiful bedrooms and reception rooms. Delightful staff.
Two small niggles I love diffusers but the one in the room was completely over powering and cloying I needed to place it outside of room and open windows.
Shower and basin at 9am were very low pressure water supply, advised by reception this happened occasionally at peak times when everyone showered at same time. Hubby struggled to shower and shave in adequate hot water.
Would definitely recommend based on beautiful decor and friendly team and hope you didn’t experience issues with water!

Well ;hotel was really nice ; a shame the people in the room above us keep us awake for two nights playing music and banging around all night :did complain to the manager:but not a lot really happened, he did go and see them : but it still went on, when I rang him for the second time this was on the Saturday about 3 in the morning he was very rude and said he did not want to get into any confrontation with them , out of a 3day stay we had two nights of hell , we did get a full refund ,definitely wont be going back

Absolutely fabulous place to stay, very plush and a great breakfast. My only bug bear and its not a huge one is no food served in the evening so normally have to go out when sometimes you jyst cant be bothered. Otherwise stayed twice and will book next week to stay again.

Great place to stay when visiting Bournemouth

Hi spec quality hotel. Huge well decorated rooms (We stayed in Exec room - Grand National). All staff very friendly, polite and helpful. Breakfast very good. No restaurant in hotel but lots of good ones in Bournemouth and Boscombe.
