The hotel, like Bournemouth itself, has seen better days. However, the room was very clean and warm, bed comfortable and lots of hot water in the bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate. The use of the spa for free in the adjoining hotel, a member of the same group, was a real bonus. Good value for money.

Rooms dated, shabby and small. Decor needs refreshing, furniture is old damaged and worn, windows filthy and frames rotten. Bathrooms particularly shabby and hazardous changes in floor levels, and sign warning that if you fail to tuck the shower curtain in properly and water leaks down stair you will be charged for damages. Why is this necessary when the floors are tiled?
Noisy rooms, there seemed to be a number of young people staying in the hotel and a hen party staying in the rooms above us played loud music in their room till after midnight.
The reception staff are pleasant and friendly but in need of training and advice on customer care. Hotel kitchen closed at 8 on Saturday night when menu stated last orders for food were 8:45, and receptionist had previously told us food was served till 9. Insulted to be told that as I couldn’t drive to nearby restaurants, I could walk there in about 20 minutes. As weather was terrible, we ended up eating takeaway pizzas from a box. Not the Saturday night we had planned when we booked a hotel with an Italian restaurant that supposedly stayed open till 9.
Apart from the nice cooked breakfasts, there is little to recommend the Ocean. It’s possible to accept a hotel is old and tired if you have a pleasant stay but staff negligence and poor customer care are not acceptable.

When i arrived i was told parking was an extra 24 pounds . The kitchen was closed and the room was not disability friendly the only saving grace was the Seaview very disappointed

Stayed here as a ‘budget’ option for an unexpected visit, didn’t realise I’d be slapped with a £12 parking fee per night. Was merely told it was on the booking, which it wasn’t. The place is quite in need of some TLC but again, budget. The room itself was okay, clean bed, decent bathroom. But the walls are PAPER THIN, if you find yourself next to some loud night owls, don’t expect to sleep at all. The hotel itself is fine other than parking and a bit tired looking but unfortunately the next door guests made the entire night unbearable, so, poor experience.

My room was on the 3rd floor, but, as the lift was broken, I was moved to Room 7, on the ground floor.
On my last night, there was no electricity at all. Fortunately, I had a torch.
There was no electricity on Sunday morning when I woke up.
At breakfast, the oven was on late, so I missed out on the full English breakfast.
The staff offered me a room on the 4th floor on the Saturday night, which I turned down, as it was on the 4th floor, and the lift wasn’t working.
The staff did provide me with a sandwich and a pot of hot water which I appreciated.

Its not the worst hotel in the world for 3 star but the staff can be tricky, some are ok but some are a nightmare. The food is terrible and very overpriced, service is extremely slow and we actually had upset tummies after eating dinner in the hotel. Thankfully there are other places to eat in the town centre which is a 20 min walk away. Everything felt sticky, tables and chairs. The place needs a really good deep clean. Its located in a decent setting not far from the beach. Twin room was very small and dated but reasonably clean. Plumbing was noisy throughout the night. We didnt sleep well. Paid 170 for two night stay in August which isnt bad. Wish i had soent a bit more on a nicer place though in hindsight.

I thought the restaurant area and outdoor pool was very nice,the rooms were clean but we didn't have an ironing board or iron,the beds were okay,pillows not very comfortable but mattress was quite firm. I wasn't impressed with the breakfast for a three star hotel,a bit basic and standard,nothing particularly stood out about it or the breakfast dining area.

My friend and I went from Monday -Friday. On arriving the staff were lovely however got to the room and it was dark. My friend and I said if they had arranged the bedroom differently it wouldn’t have felt so dark. The heater in the bathroom was so dangerous. Also the whole hotel needed some TLC.
But the staff made up for the rest of it every member of staff was lovely.

Bedroom wasn’t particularly clean . All the doors were hanging off the drawers . Wall paper hanging off the wall . Doors banging all weekend no one had any consideration . Didn’t see a cleaner or maid all weekend . The swimming pool has scum across the top and the pool area was never checked during the day . The plastic empty glasses and cans blew about all day and for hours there were unattended towels on the sun beds which no body delt with. The inclusive evening meal was extremely limited with around 3/4 choices per main . The chicken was over cooked . The roast potatoes had been reheated and frozen veg wasn’t even cooked and still hard . We wanted to extend our stay for a few hours on the day we checked by parking our car on the onsite car park but the main behind reception admitted he didn’t want to help us with free parking even though we were paying guests for the weekend and the proceeded to charge us for a another couple of hours . Avoid hotel , the photos are old .

I saw lots of negative reviews for this hotel so was very nervous about booking but we’d been let down at the last minute with the accommodation we’d booked for our weekend away so booked the Ocean hotel and hoped for the best!
I have to say I was so pleasantly surprised, yes the outside is a bit tired but the reception and bar area are lovely, the staff are friendly and helpful and the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, it had everything we needed, even a fan and heater in the wardrobe for hot/cold weather, beds were really comfortable and it was much quieter than I expected it to be, we had a stunning sea view too, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again

This is a perfectly OK hotel, let down by attention to detail. For example, no channel changer in the room, bad TV reception, tepid bath water and windows painted shut. Some of the staff are lovely and helpful. The terrace with sea view is lovely. I wouldn’t stay here again because I’d rather stay closer to transport and the town centre.

Unfortunately the hotel car park was full on arrival, so had to pay £21 to park on the road. One of my wing mirror's ( adjacent to the pavement) was deliberately smashed overnight. I did manage to park in the hotel car park on Saturday, however I will not risk coming back to the hotel again. The incident spoilt the weekend.

So happy. Was given a tiny roomwith a wall for a view. I requested a bit more space for my grandaughter amd was moved to a different room. Great view and more space to spread out toys. The bathroom was a bit tired, toilet roll holder broken and stains to ceili gs, bit overall good.
I would like to add I expected to be right neat thr beach by the advertising. We were not expcting a windy cliff walk down. But maybe I should have doen some research. Loved thr use of the indoor pool next door.

Fantastic weather really did make this trip! Felt like we were abroad! Hotel really good location with a short walk you get to the pier and town. Hotel rooms get quite warm at night but fans are provided.

The facilities throughout the entire hotel are extremely run-down. We paid over £300 for a 3-night stay, and both the bedroom and bathroom looked like they hadn’t been updated -or properly cleaned- since the 1950s. It honestly felt like staying at your nan’s house, and not in a charming way. There was also a strong, musty smell that lingered throughout the room, which made the stay even more unpleasant.

Good value but not perfect...

Overall, the Ocean Beach Hotel provides good value for money, except for the high daily parking charge for residents.
The reception, restaurant and house keeping staff we interacted with were all polite, helpful and efficient.
Our room rate included breakfast and dinner. The food was very good generally and especially the fish dishes, although a few dishes had a tad too much garlic and we had a fire breathing chilli con carne one evening.
Use of the facilities in the neighbouring Suncliff and Cumberland hotels is a good point.
We stayed in a room which had been refurbished (it was not clear how long ago). However, the standard of workmanship was very poor with paint splashes on the wallpaper, headboard, mirror, tiles and switches, and most fittings were secured wonkily. These give an impression that the work was done on the cheap.
Finally, the radiators in the third floor corridors were on throughout our stay which made them and the rooms very warm most of the time. Ours had a large desk fan to help cool it.
Our expectations of the hotel were not high but we would probably stay there again given the good value it provides and pleasant staff.

We were told on leaving that we had received an upgrade room. The room was on the 4th floor and without air con, it was like staying in a sauna, considering the extreme temperatures experienced during our stay. We also had to pay for onsite parking at £12.00 per night, this did not guarantee a parking space! costing us an additional £36.00. I informed the hotel before arrival that my wife has a gluten-free diet but all that was provided was some gluten free bread! No gluten free cereal was available for breakfast!

The room was absolutely boiling hot so we barely slept. The room also really needed some updating, it was very run down. Our room was not cleaned for any of the days we stayed (4 days, 3 nights in total).
The reception staff were not particuarly helpful with getting us fresh towels etc after our room was not cleaned.
For the price, it was not worth the stay.

We arrived at hotel ,room was lovely, put tv on and then kettle, the fuse tripped, guy on desk sorted straight away ,but told us not to plug too many appliances in,like it was our fault ,ridiculous !,we checked just tv and kettle, switched kettle on again ,blew again , he offered two other rooms which awful ,but he did get us a similar room to the one we booked in a sister hotel next door
But i feel it wasnt a big ask to have working electrics in a hotel of that size

This is a good place to stay overnight if you are passing through. Close to the beach. Parking was difficult and I got lucky. The property is dated, the bathroom is extremely small for a large man. The water was not very hot. The room was safe and secure. It is not five stars but it is a good place to stay for the night.

The highlight was Michaela in the spa who gsve me the best full body massage of my life! She was brilliant. Shame the pool, sauna and gym srent actually on site but in all honesty theyre nothing to rave about anyway. Check in was fast and easy, staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean but cold! The rest of the hotel is boiling hot but the room was freezing so bring extra layers when its chilly! Overall, it was a pleasant enough stay for 1 night, perfect walk to the beach and great for me to enjoy some quality time to myself.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
I’m an electrician worked all over the country and stayed in hotels all over the country.
This is the worst hotel by far.
The door to the room didn’t lock. Anyone could walk in without a keycard.
Was sent to the building next door for breakfast was advertised as buffet yet the whole buffet was empty and had to order yet the food was freezing cold and hard.

I only stayed for about an hour before checking back out again. Hotel didn’t think it necessary to let a single woman staying alone know that there was a big wedding at the venue. The noise was ridiculous and had I even wanted to eat in the restaurant, I wouldn’t have been able to as it was full of rowdy wedding guests at the bar. My room backed onto the bar and was next to the ladies cloakroom. When I approached reception to ask why I wasn’t made aware of this, I was greeted with a very rude man who just pointed to a sign in the foyer warning people there would be noise that night. Not sure how I was meant to read that before my arrival, but hey ho. He was so rude that I walked out in tears and had to check into another hotel. The whole experience was horrendous. The numerous wedding guests also made it impossible to park in the hotel car park so I had to pay extra for parking (which was also wasted as I left).

Hotel is extremely old and in need of maintenance. We were on fourth floor, water pressure was extremely low for shower. No air conditioning and extremely hot in room. Room doesn’t have any fridge also. Carpets dirty and old. We found thick hair all over, toilet was dirty. Lift was extremely old and slow. Window is crushed still no double glazed window… overall shocking for a UK hotel. Maybe you could call it motel.

Excellent location on beach. Dinner service surprisingly nice. Room good, en suite very tired, but clean. Hubby couldn’t stand up in shower/bath combo as ceiling so low. Leaky window to front - reported it on check out and hotel seemed keen to get that fixed asap. Hotel had parking but had to pay hotel extra £12 for it. thought that was a bit cheeky when you could park on street easily and pay/display same amount. Fine for couple nights.

The picture of the reception looked nothing like the reception in real life. The spa was closed as it was too busy!! Did not find a gym in this hotel ( which was 1 reason why I picked this hotel) £18 for breakfast was very steep when I looked at what was on offer. The room was very disgusting. The floor had something sharp and poked the children’s feet. The beds were smelly and causing everyone to itch, we did call to tell them this but they come in the morning to change which was not good especially when we arrived at 14:00 on the check in day. Bathrooms were not clean and when asked for them to be cleaned the room attendant came and just went over it with a dry cloth very briefly.

The lack of air conditioning makes it extremely hot, and despite the advertisement, there are no beds for children. Additionally, breakfast runs out quickly and takes a long time to be replenished. For the price, it's not worth it at all, and there isn't enough space in the car park.

Nice hotel, the worst bed / nights sleep ever

Mattress was broken, woke up multiple times with springs digging into my back or side. Finally fell back asleep on my front and woke up with indent on my chest. Hotel is a nice, staff friendly but by far the worst bed I’ve ever slept in.

Not the best hotel.

The staff were friendly but the condition of the room was terrible. It was dirty and everything was broken. The room was extremely hot and had only one small window. They left 2 fans in the room which hardly worked. We took our dog with us which we were informed to keep her food in the bathroom and not let her on the bed or any other furniture in the room. Dogs are also not allowed anywhere in the hotel. We paid for a room with sea view and we only had a partial sea view. I was not happy with our stay.

Never again!

This was the worst weekend away ever! Hotel is very run down! Half of the staff don’t speak English and if they do, they’re so rude! Hotel is built with very thin walls. You can hear absolutely everything next door! Room was very dirty and smelly!
At breakfast not much choice or empty buffet whatsoever. We had to ask the waiters many times to fill in the buffet!
In the evening when getting drinks we noticed/caught that staff don’t pour the amount of alcohol you pay for. When ordering single, you get half of it and then ordering double you get single.
This was just a waste of money! Don’t stay there if you want to have a stay from hell!
