It is a very busy hotel and they checked us in right away and gave me a free upgrade. I had reserved a twin room but they gave us a large bed which wasn't what I had wanted. But we made it work. The room was large, clean, and there was plenty of tea bags. This may be more of a complaint about hotel room design but I wish nice hotels would stop trying to get interesting with bathroom doors. The frosted glass door is amusing but the slight gap at the bottom sure makes using the toilet feel less than private. Why??? I would say using the lifts is a bit too high tech. I feel like tech bros got involved and not anyone familiar with customer service. Other than that, a lovely stay near a tube station.

Great location and excellent breakfast. Beds are comfortable and it’s good that you can open the window slightly to let the fresh air in. The lift moves swiftly and the hotel is promoting a greener environment with. The choice of getting your room cleaned or pausing it day few days.
Reception seems to vibe all the time. The Sound Bar makes a smashing cocktail and you can use your green voucher to reduce the cost.

I have been a few times at this hotel.
This time the check in was very fast, therefore I was positively surprised.

They are renovating the stage area, therefore there was less space in the hall.

The room was nice, but there was no water available to drink and the bathroom had not been cleaned properly. They need to look into this aspect more carefully.

Overall, I was happy and the vibes and the staff is very nice.

Really enjoyed staying at the hotel. Location is fantastic, staff were all friendly and helpful and the rooms were lovely.
One little thing and it may just be me but the mattresses were a little firm.

Suite Room was large and the extras of complimentary mini bar was a hice touch, but room was not finished to a high standard, scratchs and dents on door frames and bath panel was just a bit of wood glued on and thaf fit. Shower was small and temperamental.

Lovely room but the service was very poor. We splashed out on a suite for my birthday and despite being assured that our mini bar would be restocked promptly after they forgot on our first day, it never was. We asked about it twice a day and received the same response that it would be stocked immediately- didn’t happen. This, despite the fact they had dozens of staff milling about in reception doing nothing! We paid for breakfast when we arrived but somehow that never got communicated to the staff on the desk at the buffet. The very rude lady made us feel like criminals as we we’re basically accused of trying to steal breakfast- we were kept waiting whilst she finished a call to someone (on an entirely different matter) before she could be bothered to sort it out. The VIP room closes at 10pm which means you can never use it after the theatre which is quite poor. Would be nice to have a wider range of music in the bar too; the music in the evenings was dreadful.

The lobby had too many smokers. It was the smoke that welcomed us the moment we arrived. Disappointing first impression and I believe this can be controlled for better consideration to non- smokers.

The room was in good condition except the bathroom tub was not gleaming clean to be used for soaking. It was evident when I used my clorox wipes to clean it and it turned brown so I did not dare using it at all which was a waste because I specifically requested a tub to be used after my family's long travel. Plus, the toilet paper holder was cheap, too light to stand on it's own that it kept falling on the floor which was a bothersome and unhygenic and it was already rusty. I feel this little thing did not belong at all with whatever concept Cumberland is trying to pull.

The lighting system is too complicated to remember which switch works for each light. There were just too many switches.

But one thing we appreciate was the complimentary bar drinks and snacks. Also, the buffet bfast we ordered was great for its value.

Location is good being close to Marble Arch and shopping at Selfridges.

Nice place, great location and breakfast. We arrived from the U.S. about 10am and they had a room available. Note: A King size bed is actually Queen size in the U.S. The rooms are small, and I'm not sure there would be room for a true King size bed.

Room was a good size and easily fit 3 of us for 1 night. The extra bed requested was small and would only be suitable for a child or anyone under 5ft 8.
Lounge access was incredible and the snacks and drinks were amazing.
Check in took a long time and it was very busy when we arrived - VIP section for the executive rooms but still took longer than expected to get checked in.
Other than that the hotel is in a great location, it’s funky and well maintained and the smell … oh my!! The scent they have throughout the hotel is amazing!!! Loved it.
Great stay and would 100% recommend to others, especially the executive rooms with lounge access - great deal!!

Only point to mention was the shower drain was very blocked, meaning the water struggled to drain away and nearly flooded into the bathroom. Other than that, a lovely stay and would come back again

I booked on hotels.com prepaid and paid hotel directly for upgrade. I had receipts via emails. Cumberland hotel staff ignored receipts and tried to double bill. No upgrade despite platinum status and extra fee. I spent 70 usd calling from USA to arrange airport pickup and 3 days of calling WhatsApp did not work no one returned calls to arrange . Finally someone did ! Contracted car service is lovely btw. Bartenders have no idea what a Kir Royal or a White Russian is. Then I personally ordered a car for pickup with concierge and they never ordered it a complete mess!
Hotel is ok staff are young and ill trained. I do not recommend purely based on service too bad good location.

We stayed at The Cumberland as it was described as pet friendly and the location is ideal. After booking, I emailed them to tell them I was bringing a dog. I had checked their website beforehand. I received an email back from them 2 hours after my free cancellation period ended, informing me that there is a £100 charge for bringing dogs. This is to cover a specialist team deep cleaning the room. Whilst I understand this, I have a 4.5kg, non-shedding Labradoodle. Once we left, you couldn't tell she had been there. I have knocked a star off for the lack of transparency surrounding this. I don't think you can call yourself pet friendly and charge such an amount and not be very open about this i.e on the website. Next, none of the staff seemed to have a clue about where the dog was allowed or not. I was told by \"star services\" (reception) that I could not eat in the hotel with my dog. You definitely can't describe yourself as pet friendly and not allow pets with their owners to eat. We were allowed in the sports bar for food, and the staff at the restaurant area were very friendly about this but did tuck as away in the furtherest end of the sports bar and at breakfast (which pets are allowed at). I have also knocked another star off for the lack of staff knowledge about this, I feel you should be pet friendly or not and your staff should know what's allowed or not. I didn't enjoy trying to hide my pet in a pet friendly hotel.

The hotel itself is fine and benefits from a good location, which made it convenient for our stay. Unfortunately, the check-in experience significantly detracted from what could have been a positive visit.

We had prepaid for the stay via Expedia; however, at check-in the hotel insisted that no payment had been received and proceeded to charge our card again. The following day, after contacting Expedia and providing clear proof of payment, the hotel reluctantly refunded the duplicate charge.

We subsequently emailed hotel management to express our disappointment and to seek clarification, but we received no response. The lack of communication and accountability was disappointing and left a poor final impression.

It is a real shame, as the hotel itself is perfectly adequate, but the handling of the check-in process and the absence of follow-up from management fell well below expectations.

Location is great. In Zone 1 and the Marble Arch underground is only a minute walk from the hotel. Easy to get around via the Central line.
Room is generally clean but a bit dated. Carpet is worn, stained and have a slight musky smell. Bathroom is also dated.

Unfortunately we had issues checking in, which made us late for our dinner reservation. I don’t feel it was handled particularly well, as it took 3 people to eventually find us a room. We booked my daughter in earlier, with no problems, in fact they let her have her room early, which was great, & we were told we would be on the same floor 7 when we check in later (no deluxe king rooms available at that time) iit was 6.45 by the time we returned, to be told we could have a room on the 1st floor or wait 40 minutes for another room, as they were still cleaning, we thought this was poor.
Having booked back in January, to be told that was irrelevant, we didn’t feel that was the level of service we expected from The Cumberland (previously The Hard Rock Hotel)
The gentleman who finally found us a room, after 40 minutes at the desk, did actually add on breakfast, as a gesture of good will
Friends we were with, also had issues checking in too
On the positive side, we did have lovely cocktails at the bar, & the room was nice & clean

A great hotel but if u want a nice quite hotel it’s not for u it’s extremely busy and loud it’s more very similar to a hard rock hotel so very fresh but crazy, vip lounge is great apart from they said u get canopies well nuts r not canopies very disappointed with that bit but the drinks was great .. room was nice we had a king suite was on the corner of oxford street so was really noisey in the middle of the night it was like the window was open but it wasn’t .. its next to Marble Arch so great place if u want shopping .

Unfortunately, on this occasion, we were given a room where the bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned, as the sink was dirty and a towel from a previous client was still hanging there.

The negative thing I experienced is that the room service doesn't respond most of the time.
