The pool was dirty and falling to pieces , the steps to get in and out were coming away from the floor
The carpets were discussing , the rooms were dirty, the beds were rock hard and hurt ya back , the bath was mouldy ,the wardrobe was only standing due to the door holding it together ,god knows how the doors are fire regulated , the walls were so thin you could hear every word from the occupants in the rooms , using the lift was taking life in your own hands
Other guests were refusing to stay due to the condition of the building

The customer service truly stood out, especially from the manager, who was exceptional. We arrived very early and she went above and beyond by having our room ready for us well before the 3:00 pm check-in time — allowing us to check in as early as 10:30 am, which we greatly appreciated.

While the service was excellent, the overall condition of the property would benefit from renovation. The room showed signs of wear, including damaged carpeting and exposed plumbing in the bathroom, which raised some safety concerns. With improvements to the facilities, this hotel could be greatly enhanced, as the staff clearly care about the guest experience.

Good bits - staff, always polite, knowledgeable and with the smile. Parking is free, but it was difficult to find a spot.
Now, bad bits - Hotel is dirty, masking tape holding carpet together on the stairs and walkways. Went to the pool with the kids and pool was very cold + its quite deep on shallow end, 1.2m, so even with floaties I had to stay with the kids full time, as they were struggling to reach the bottom of the pool. Breakfast is bad, sausages dry, beacon burned :( No sweet cereals for the children, my kids tried the ones available and refused to eat them, as they were tasteless (I tried and agree). There was only one set of sockets by the TV, nothing close to the bed, so if phone is on charger overnight - you cant keep it close to the bed. It was a heavy rain overnight and water was pouring from the external lighting housing at the entrance of the hotel, potentially someone may get \"charged up\" :)
Not very good experience overall, one of the worst we have been so far in Bournemouth.

A little dated but as I was only in Bournemouth to vosot family in Christchurch the facilities including the food were not partaken of I just wished to use a room for the length of my stay, no complaints at all and would be quite happy to recommend.

My actual stay for very good, with a well-appointed room for the price and a good deal for breakfast. My criticism would be not about the hotel, but about Britannia Hotels' system of emailing and texting in the run-up to my stay with urgent messages to book online and 'time running out'. These are poorly worded and tended to cause concern. They just need to be worded better to offer online booking as an alternative if the client wishes, not to cause worry that something urgent needs to be done or the stay will be jeopardised, as that was the feeling engendered!

Initial contact at the reception was poor. Receptionist was to intent on getting my info although I’d already filled in the online forms. Guidance to the room was poor. Was in formed how to get to the room via lift or stairs however neglected to inform me where the lift or stairs where. The room its self was dated, delaminating furniture, loose wall sockets. Door to room had large gaps, strips and seals missing, damage to the hard wood edge and the self-closer did not operate to full extent thus leaving the door on the latch and not closing to completion. The carpet in the corridors was loose and threadbare at points and the corridor fire doors were ill fitting and also had strips and seals missing.

Stayed here as we were working at a local show. You pay for what you get but I felt like I’d been transported to 1975. This hotel has not been touched since the 70s. The decor is questionable. Parking is awful and all double yellows on the street. The check in was quick and smooth which is the only good thing about it. Pipes running under the floors which means the room is boiling. Room is not cleaned to the best standards. Mould in bathroom. Beds hard and uncomfortable. Holes all over the carpets, gouges in doors and woodwork. The entire hotel and corridors all stink of cigarettes. You had the option of choosing a smoking room when we booked, who still has smoking rooms? Even Vegas have stopped it in most places. Gaffer tape on stairs in reception holding them together. Lift looks like the original lift and could fall apart at any time.

Pros - it was cheap. We weren’t there for long enough to worry too much about it. Beds were clean. Staff friendly. If you want a cheap bed for the night it’s fine but this isn’t somewhere I’d ever stay again. Typical old Britannia hotel.

The room had no windows! That should be made clear in description or would have never booked it.

The room was also airless. We also had trouble finding the room. Number 400 and tue ground floor.

Got lost looking for room and ended up in the fire exit area on ground floor. And, you could not open at gate to get round to the reception.

Some guest on top floor thought it was ok to throw things at us. Seeing we were trapped, thinking it was funny.

Had to make a call to the police for assistance, as no one answered the phone and we were trapped.

Would not recommend to stay here. Very very out dated. Broken plug sockets tv remote didn’t work no Chanel’s on tv. No plug sockets near bed. Could hear people talking in the room next door. Very very bland for £260 it was like staying in a hostel. Pool was cloudy and looked very dirty. Parking isn’t great. Just overall not great at all. Was clean. However shower area really needed to be descaled.

The moment we walked in we struggled with our luggage. Their customer service was appalling, Their was no have a nice day. Enjoy your stay or anything, The lift was broken, the vending machines were broken. There was no sign to say do not disturb. There was no sockets by the bed. There air in the the room was really bad’. Me and my son are are both Asthmatic’. they did not help us with this. i will NOT be staying in this hotel again.

Overall I wouldn’t stay again, our mattress was flat, we had a family room of 4 and we were expected to have one little fan between us which was emitting more dust and hot air then cold air. The room itself was clean at first glance but deeper it was dirty and had gum and sticky stuff stuck to the furniture. The bathroom was okay, the shower itself worked fine but the toilet and sink was unhygienic and the tap water was too hot to use. The lift didn’t work during the whole of our stay and we were put on the second floor. To get to the second floor you had to go through many different sections and the carpet had been removed on the stairs to the second floor. The pool was way smaller then in the picture and was dangerous. A metal pipe from the railing had fallen off and was just sitting in the pool for someone to trip on the water was dirty and there was mould in the bathroom and the swimming pool. There weren’t any facilities and it was very old. Lastly the place was blatantly racist, some of the people staying and staff would avoid us and keep conversation short. I would not recommend!!

I have to say this has been one of the worst stays at a hotel i have experienced. Upon entering the room it was clear it was in need of some tlc. The mattress was lumpy and could feel the springs. There was no aircon or a fan in my room in the middle of summer. I did manage to sorce a fan from reception but apparently i was lucky as they are usually all given out.
The walls are like paper. I couod hear conversations of people in the room next to me and if they had their TV on this was also heard. The Wifi is weak and doesnt maintain a stable connection. I stayed for 4 days as i was working in the area and not once was housekeeping out to clean my room or replenish towels/toilet roll. The only positives i could bring from it was the food was ok from the bar and receptionists were friendly. I was going to speak to them about hiw uncomfortable the bed was but my colleague said she had the same issue so nothing would have been able to change in that regard.
Overall im quite a positive person and have the attitude of 'it is what it is' However this experience was something i couldnt ignore.

Overall a Pleasant stay. Location 15 minutes walk to the beach. Car park Free but limited spaces. The room decor outdated. It’s definitely brings back 80’s vibes. Furniture, tv and bathrooms all need to be updated. Internet WiFi slow. If you are on level 2 or 3 good luck to you finding your room. Lift not working during stay of 2 nights. Staff were friendly.

The overall stay was extremely disappointing. It was more like a motel than a hotel. The whole building looked like no-one cared about it with stained carpets, peeling wall paint, stained and just an overall outdated look. Lifts were out of order and there was an old people smell throughout the building. The games room had broken games and lacked any enticement. The beds were soft and uncomfortable and the lack of air conditioning made sleeping an impossibility during the mini heatwave the country was facing when we stayed. Leaving the windows open did little good as besides the heat you now faced an onslaught of noise from the seagulls and other guests.
Quite frankly feel like l was robbed by having to lay what l did to stay here and l would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
The only feature worth mentioning was the indoor pool which despite not being monitored by anyone - it was a decent size and clean.

We’ve stayed here numerous times, it’s our go to place to stay in Bournemouth. Value for money. The rooms are basic but clean and with free parking. It’s a leisurely 20 minute stroll to the main shopping centre/beach/gardens.

We finally got to use the pool on this visit! Was lovely to check out but still use the pool before we actually left. Thank you!

I enjoyed my stay and it was a great location. All staff were all friendly and helpful and I thought the pool was excellent.
The room I stayed in (104) had seen better days. In particular the bathroom wasn't of a standard I'd expect. The tap dripped, there was nothing to stop things disappearing down the basin wastepipe and I found the bath very difficult to get out of as there was nothing on the righthand side to hold onto or to use as a rest to lever oneself out of the bath. I suggest a grabrail, particularly as a lot of your guests appear to be elderly.
An oddity was that there were a few hotspots on the floor of the bathroom and the bedroom.

The hotel is tired with worn out carpets in the bedroom and common areas. This is a shame because the bed was clean and comfortable, likewise the bathroom was clean and functional.

The hotel was clean but room could do of a bit of refurbishment. The bathroom had no safety rails to get in and out of the shower. Has this hotel caters for a lot of coaches which in most cases are pensioners like me this is an accident waiting to happen. The staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival and helpful with everything we needed. Good entertainment most nights but outside garden could do with a good clean up.

This made it a bit tricky with 2 children's stuff for 2 days and having to carry it up 2 flights of stairs. The hotel itself is looking tired in places. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The breakfast was good and varied. The worst bit is there is no air conditioning. The room was stifling. We were supplied with one fan which did little to help on the hottest weekend of the year so far. We used the pool which was refreshing and again a little tired especially in the changing rooms especially. The bar was reasonably priced as was the dinner price (which we didn't have). It was obviously a popular place for groups. You can walk the 30 minutes to the seafront and parking is free unlike the town which is extortionate. It's in need of an upgrade and air con for us to use again.
