I was very pleased with most aspects of my stay; however, the absence of an in-room refrigerator was inconvenient. It necessitated frequent requests for ice and water, and I was disappointed when staff informed me that I would be charged for additional water requests. On a positive note, the staff were excellent. Julian, in particular, delivers top-tier customer service.

Few positives and few negatives about our stay. We arrived at the hotel around 11am and tried to check in but obviously this was not possible as we knew the check in was 3pm but we thought we would try anyway. Onto actual checking in at 3pm, we were told our room was not ready as the housekeeping were behind, I personally think this isn’t good enough as 3pm is a late check in time as it is. Staff told us they would come get us from the bar when this is ready, but I had to ask again at 4pm if it was ready. During the 3 day stay we heard numerous of guests complain about the paying for parking, rooms not looking how they are advertised. We also admit that paying for parking shouldn’t be a thing as we are already paying a premium to stay here. However, we thought our room was up to standard and as advertised. We had breakfast both mornings and ate for tea at night one night, we think the food was great and the service was excellent from the staff. The lift had stopped working from the moment we arrived, this was also a very small lift that couldn’t fit more than 4 people in (also suitcases) and our room was the 4th floor. The walls within the rooms are paper thin, we can hear absolutely everything from other rooms. One big negative from us is that the hotel across the road, Britannia hotel, has recently closed down and become an illegal imigrant hotel. They hang around the hotel in small groups and the mess along the street was awful. We did feel safe(ish) but others may not.

A disappointing experience, poor management.

The hotel was clean and generally fine, but our stay was ruined by a serious issue and poor handling by staff and management. At 2am on the first night, the A/C unit in our room started making an awful, jackhammer-like noise that lasted all night. We couldn’t sleep at all. We reported it to the night manager, who said there was nothing he could do—the hotel was fully booked, and due to health and safety rules, he wasn’t allowed to touch the unit. He said it would be reported to maintenance in the morning.

The next day, I spoke to the duty manager, who apologized and told me the night manager *could* have called an on-call maintenance person. He offered us a free dinner and some drinks, but I said that wasn’t good enough—we paid for a night’s sleep and didn’t get one. He said he didn’t have authority to offer more, but the hotel manager Maurizio would call me on Monday. If not, the duty manager (Marco) would call instead.

It’s now Thursday and I’ve heard nothing. I’ve called the hotel daily—no one answers, voicemail boxes are full. To make matters worse, the night manager admitted this A/C issue had happened before. When maintenance did arrive, it took five minutes to fix—a clogged pipe that should’ve been cleaned regularly.

The hotel has potential, but the lack of staff training, guest support, and basic follow-up from management made this a frustrating and disappointing experience.

The property is well located and the breakfast was great, we were very impressed with your Saturday morning gentleman histokh breakfast - he knows how to treat customers. Otter staff members in reception were rude, when guests approach Reception, they should be at least acknowledged even if you can’t get to them that instant, an acknowledgment and a smile and I will be right with you. But to ignore us? Big fail, and so basic. Likewise we asked to purchase a coffee from the proper coffee machine in the restaurant which no one had time to make!
Finally, it was inconvenient to have to call down to Reception to turn the air conditioning on in our room. It ate our time for 15 minutes trying to figure out the control box, then all extentions to Reception went to voicemail, so I had to go all the way down to ask then oh yes I can turn that on for you! Why didn’t you do that when we checked in! What a waste of time. It’s a nice hotel and I’m sure it do your best but these basic things would have made our stay great.

Hidden costs like having to pay for the privilege of parking at the hotel we are staying at is ridiculous. Requests for broken bathroom lights to be fixed not met (and probably never will be). You can hear the movements, talking, footsteps of every guest in their rooms (no soundproofing whatsoever!) so dont forget your earplugs!! Better still, save your money and go elsewhere. We thought the food would be better but the bread and butter to nibble was a joke. 2 frozen nobs of butter we had to try and slice with a knife and fork…..sigh…the best bit (other than leaving, was the cosmo cocktails…thank you barman

I choose this hotel as it advertised sound proofed rooms, a gym and a pool/spa.

Not the case for sound proofing, I had a family above me, could even hear them snooring.

The Gym was terrible and the Pool wasnt very good either.

I would of stayed elsewhere and gone to a proper gym if i knew.

Mostly the hotel was done up well for an old building. Room was comfy and hotel staff good.

Had to pay £10 for parking which seemed a bit odd though considering.

Food is great, location is great as its few minutes away from the seaside. The room is modern, clean and neat. Everything was superb. The only down side was the rooms were not sound proof. As me and my toddler walked at the corridor coming back to our room, we can clearly hear people moaning and the bed moving--- clearly they were being intimate to the next level. We can hear as well someone having a shower as we passed by. Would I recommend? Yes if you are staying without children.

When arriving at the hotel the staff was amazing. Check in was simple and stress free. I was given a room which didn’t have a walk in shower at first and did request this and eventually the staff provided me with the walk In shower. Can’t fault the experience. Restaurant menu could have more of a variety but overall great. Defo stay again

It was a terrible experience, The Shower had very low water pressure, and couldn't take a shower. couldn't even sleep a bit at night since I couldn't take a shower. Told they couldn't fix it as the maintenance person clocked out at 8PM.
TV was not working in the room. I booked it to have a nice relaxing holiday in a 4-star hotel. this is a run-down 1-star hotel. Cancelled the second night in the hotel but they didn't even refund fully only refined partially for the second night.

So the stay was good but not it’s normal excellent standard, a few issues with the room - bathroom needs re-siliconing and some tlc, toilet had limescale marks and replacement towels smelt like cooking oil (so I just reused the same towel I had hung up)- I have stayed here 4 times previously and this is the first time the standard slipped (perhaps it’s was just luck of the draw). Also on one of the nights there was a dog in the hotel in a room and it was barking for about 3 hours (after an hour both myself and another person in a neighbouring room complained - staff contacted the owners who went out but took their time returning) I agree to make allowances but perhaps the hotel need to have a stricter policy about leaving animals alone in the rooms so it doesn’t disturb other people’s sleep as some were there as leisure guests however I was on a business trip (or perhaps group leisure guests and business guests separately).

Overall it was a pleasant stay however not worth the additional costs - unless you need a pool.

It was a nice enough stay however we had booked the superior twin room - I don’t know how it was any superior than the usual; the size was the same as what we’ve experienced in travelodges in the same area and there was no amazing amenities attached.

Everything else was pleasant having a good sized TV and controllable aircon was nice, beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size - tap was broken however - but was still usable. This water however is not potable and the only access to drinking water was asking at the desk for cans which are then ultimately single use.

The worst thing was that we also had to pay an unmentioned fee of £50 per night at the desk. They said would cover any spa treatment or food purchases on site (when we did get a couple of drinks at the bar the bartender presumed we would pay with card and didn’t ask if we wanted to put it on this fee). We wouldn’t receive it again up to 7 days after our stay. Thank god we were only staying two night otherwise I’d hate to think of the chunk of spending money that would be taken out of a family holiday especially when I can find no mention of this additional fee in any description for their hotel accommodations.

My partner and I spent two nights last weekend at the Queen's hotel in Bournemouth. It was a treat for her birthday. It was mainly disappointing. Staff seemed friendly, although some were difficult to understand. The carpark had spaces although payment would have been expected if I hadn't had a blue badge. No mention of this beforehand. A £50 per night key deposit was taken from my bank account. 7 nights- £350. Really!!!
Our room (twin superior) was a good size, the bathroom newly refitted. Beds comfortable. Furniture old and well worn. Air con was on when we arrived but there was no control or instructions, I did manage to switch it off after a while. No hotel information in the room. The £15 breakfast was good. The swimming pool etc is small. My main complaint however was on the Saturday night at about 9.30, my partner and I had just gone to bed and were watching a film when one of the staff let himself into our room to tell us to turn the volume down. We were both startled and angered by this. We did make a complaint to the manager, stating this was 9.30 not 11.30 and why did we not receive a call on the room phone. We could have both been naked when he let himself in. Also in the advertising blurb it is stated that the rooms are soundproofed. The manager said he would look into our complaint, but so far no response from him. Is this a common occurrence?

The room was recently renovated and spacious. The hotel is only a few minutes walk to the east cliff zig zag trail.
They let us extend our stay ( late check out) for £10/hr for a max of two hours.
We were disappointed that the spa was booked up the entire time we were there.
Staff were friendly and the air conditioning was much appreciated.

Unfortunately not as expected, this is not a 4 star hotel and should be re reviewed. The rooms are dirty and outdated. We had issues everyday, worst was the room next to us was smoking, and the smell was seeping into our room which is a health and safety issue considering i had my 2 year old son with me. We wasnt offered an alternative, raised general manager who did nothing, in the evening i re raised and the deputy manager arranged to move us. Still havent had an acknowledgement from our email we raised to them

Room was clean and room bits like tea,
Coffee and toiletries all great. We had a problem with our lock which took a while for someone to appear and then fix didn’t hold. Minor thing and it was late so wedged chair behind door. There was a function on in the hotel which we weren’t aware of and went on to midnight. No notification on booking or arrival. Sound proofing between function room and first floor rooms was non-existent. We had heard reception chatting amongst themselves saying they were trying not to put people in first floor but we were not given that option. Overall it’s not a bad hotel for the money. Parking as with most Bournemouth hotels sparse and staff in the whole were nice and helpful.

Got to classic double room and despite advertised no room safe or wardrobe and had to change. Then I had to ask reception to put the heating on as the room was freezing. My colleague had no remote control the whole weekend despite several mentions and promises from reception. Tired looking rooms around windows and carpet. My room didn’t get made up on the second day. Poor overall

On arriving at the hotel, we wanted to say hi to george the manager,but sadly he was way too busy to pop by,such a shame really because we actually wanted to do the whole week of xmas there and xmas lunch etc, with our family as i said if managment cant find just a few minutes to say hi ,its times like this that make you think ok his loss ,ill go elsewhere with my custom,afrer all we were going there before merecure took over,you should keep ur guests happy,especially when the receptionist keptcasking me shall i see if hes free today,in the end i was a bit sad and said no dont bother,again feeling unappreciated as a customer i felt like they do only care about you bringing the revenue in and not me as a person,i will go elsewhere for xmas and take all my family with me,hate fake people

Underwhelming and in need of a TLC

Polite and welcoming staff, but the room we were given initially was disgusting. Badly stained carpets, major damp issue and just looked run down and in need of renovation. We were offered a second room, which was marginally better but still in dire need of renovation.

The bedding and towels were clean and comfortable and there was a large smart tv. Annoyingly the smart tv apps screen displayed an error and the bluetooth only connected for audio. The shower is also at a height only suited to small people. At 6'2\" I had to crouch right down to wash. Our tablelamp was also non-functional. Our room was also noisy at points throughout the night. We could hear the drainage from neighbouring rooms and some rather loud boiler/pressure background hum aswell.

As for the shared facilities: The pool was pleasant enough but the jacuzzi water smelt strongly of sweat. Not nice.

We didn't dine or have breakfast.

Good location close to seafront. Stayed in several Mecure hotels across Europe. This one really lets the brand down in several areas. Dated overall, bad plumbing / heating. Mould in bathrooms. cleanliness of beds. Sound between rooms. Breakfast is awful (coffee is worst I've ever had) but they do have a paid espresso option. I could go on but doubt owners will do anything about it.

The room was filthy. Big, substantial stains on the carpet, marks and chips out of the wall, chips out of the bath, suspicious brown stains on the bath panel next to the toilet as well as items of furniture with large stains on. The aircon machine was faulty and was buzzing and clicking all night which really disrupted our sleep. We emailed the hotel with pictures and details but 5 days later have received no reply. Absolutely not worth the £190 we paid to stay there.

Disappointing service and room was dirty.

Disappointing service at check in and throughout. No car parking spaces available. Boy on check in desk wasn’t helpful at all. Asked if there was a public car park near buy and he shrugged his shoulders and didn’t even answer. Luckily we found one literally round the corner 2 minutes walk.
Room was dirty and unfinished.
Not a hotel I would recommend when there are so many decent hotels in Bournemouth to choose from.

I wasn’t going to bother submitting a review but following issues with parking since our visit I feel it is necessary. My partner is disabled and so before booking we rang the hotel to confirm we’d get parking and they advised us to add this to the booking form which we did. When we arrived there was no reserved space. The wheelchair lift wasn’t working so my partner had to use the steps very gingerly. Luckily he wasn’t totally confined to a wheelchair or he wouldn’t have made it into the hotel. We arrived and paid for our stay and 48 hours parking as we knew we needed this due to his condition. We have just received a penalty notice for parking in the car park and now have the added stress of trying to resolve this which exacerbates my partner’s condition. The room was unclean and not made up to fit our family requirements. Our key cards repeatedly failed and we had to return to reception on no less than 4 occasions to get them reset which is hassle you don’t need when you’re disabled. Housekeeping were rude when we requested bedding for our daughter that should have been in the room ready for our stay. We had to go down to reception to ask for this as there was no hotel info or number indicating how you contacted reception in the room.
On the plus side the swimming facilities were nice.

Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be returning.

Hotel is in great location - Zigzag walk down to pleasant and quite beach just across the road (barbecue allowed from 6pm!). That’s the reason we stayed at Mercure twice. Last time was great. This time not so much. We stayed in Junior Suite - big room, plenty of space. But it is not sound proof at all - can hear every person coming and going. It’s a pet friendly place (if you got a pet it is fantastic). Unfortunately, we had a neighbour with pet (dog was left alone for couple of hours late evening and got very upset).
Hotels always have problems with bathrooms. Mercure bathrooms are a bit outdated or not of good quality. Our bathroom even in Junior Suite was just too small and shower stopped draining on day 2. I think this can be resolved only by property owner not the staff.
I popped into restaurant where breakfast was served - very basic full English. It is not worth paying for it (if not included).

Great location but average experience.

Dirty towels in our room, took down to reception for clean ones and no apology offered. Annoying buzz of air conditioning unit at random intervals but apparently nothing wrong with it according to reception. Phone also went off at random intervals as no LAN connected, unplugged it in the end. Inconsiderate guests in the early hours shouting in the corridor and allowing their bedroom door to slam shut.
Bed was comfortable. Had booked a massage for my partner and I together only to turn up and be told they had been moved to one after the other without informing us before hand, spa receptionist was very apologetic and explained it was due to illness but we would of appreciated a courtesy call or email prior. Massage was great though.

Hallway carpet smelt of urine not sure of dogs peeing in the same corner!! Was just outside my room! Didn't sleep well due to think ceiling walls was kept up late for party goes! Maybe i’m getting old but my dog was on guard all night

Breakfast options were really good. Really enjoyed the range of food offered (eggs, toast, cereals, pancakes, pastries, hot drinks, juices, great selection of spreads, jams honey, marmalade etc.) The additional cost for breakfast was definitely worth it!
The room was big and room facilities good, with a good selection of hot drinks and an expresso machine available. Added bonus of having a mini fridge to store drinks in. Only drawback to the bathroom would be that the taps weren’t mixer taps. Apart from that everything else was good, and I would stay there again.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Room was average, though it was supposed to be a Superior Double. Balcony needs a lick of paint. Bathroom needs a bit of touch up. Beach is just 5 minutes walk away. Overall okay for the price.

Stayed for 2 nights , wasn't aware carpark was an charge , £10 a night extra, hotel great location , but needs more done , ie , outside sitting area untidy , tired furniture, and not well kept , only had breakfast and that was satisfactory, i opted to up grade and have a room with a balcony , this was very disappointing, it overlooked the roof of the kitchen, and ventilation tubes everywhere , not sure it was worth the extra cost , the room itself was ok , comfortable bed , but the decor finish was poor , overall it was ok , but the online photos are very well taken, which were a bit deceiving in my opinion
