Even though some elements of the hotel were tired, it was spotlessly clean throughout. Our bedding was crisp white cotton and smelt lovely, the bathroom was lovely and recently refurbished, the breakfast was decent, hot and plentiful, and we even made use of the sauna which was great. Stunning location too.

I was quickly checked in and allocated my room and the reception staff even took my luggage to my room on the third floor !

Upon entering my room I was pleased to see a big comfortable double bed and a bathroom with a bath and shower ! Tea and coffee and a kettle and a led TV with plenty of channels !

Great value for money, I would highly recommend you see for yourself when visiting Bournemouth !

Room was satisfactory, bed comfortable and facilities more than adequate.
Unfortunately, I found the hotel on the whole (apart from the ground floor) generally in need of some tlc.
My sleep was badly disturbed both nights of my stay due to gross inconsideration by other guests on my floor.....I believe there was a school party staying. This aside, I found that sounds carried easily throughout the hotel on the whole.....any kind of sound proofing seemed lacking
Unfortunately I was ill for the duration of my stay so sleep was difficult anyways but that would only account for 20% of my disturbed sleep.

We couldn’t see the beach from our room as out the back.
The room was clean and the bathroom was newly done but the room obviously was quite dated and shabby. The windows were not double glazed and so quite noisy.
The breakfast was good.
We were on the top floor and the lift was very small and very old looking so we opted for the stairs.

Room and staff were really good. This hotel had a brilliant reception team who are so friendly and welcoming. The only thing that lets the hotel down was the food. We ordered hams eggs and chips and a tuna sandwich. Ham and tuna seems a but off tasting a little on the sour side the chips were soggy and undercooked. The service and foh more than made up for it

You can tell that this was a beautiful hotel in it's day. It really needs a fresh paint job and some upkeep. The elevator was out so we had to walk up several stairs to our room. The room was nice and looked like to had been updated a bit. The staff was very nice, especially the ladies in the bar area. They were very friendly & accommodating.

Positive points: Comfortable bed, working bathroom facility's and fairly friendly staff.

Negative points:
I was not told what the paperwork i was signing was about and the key points of the clauses, in the paperwork

I was not informed the lift was broken as I'm disabled and have assistance dog as they put me on the third floor this was a problem because i have bad knees and mobility problems and i found this difficult to traverse up and down the flights of stairs every day.

I was not informed about any of the facility's on the site such as the restaurant or the bar where i could of got food as i did not know about them i was getting food offsite. Which i had to find myself as was not given any information about the local area

the room itself was too small for what it was meant to be and felt Claustrophobic with me and my dog in the same room

when i signed out a day earlier than i should of i was not ask the reason for this and wasn't asked if i had a nice stay at the hotel.

You could buy drink at the bar with a card, which made this difficult due to me losing my card during the week and only having cash on me.

Overall i did not like the atmosphere of the hotel as i feeling judged by the staff and other people staying at the hotel.

Warm welcome. Hotel is old and the room was as clean as it was possible to clean an old room. Communal areas were less clean including bannisters. Gym, pool and spa are not open until 8.00am so not good for anyone who prefers to exercise before breakfast.

When we checked in the offer us 3rd floor room then they said by the way lifts are not working,we have to walk stairs and stairs, then I asked if we can change the room, they asked extra 40£a night to change with balcony,on the way to the room, the room service stuff said the lifts are out of order for the last 2 weeks,
It's showing how they trying take money from customers with fixing,we have to check out one night before, it's one of the dirty hotel I have been seen, the management needs attention to the hotel not only money, shame on the conditions of this hotel,

This is a tired hotel with unmotivated staff and poor facilities. I have a long list of reasons not to stay here! A Premier Inn knocks spots off this hotel. Dont waste your money by booking here.

The lift doesn't work (i had to walk 5 flights of stairs to get to my room), the staff are miserable, the carpets are stale, the furniture old and falling apart, room facilities poor, the shower is awful (no water pressure (its like a slow dripping hose pipe)), the hotel bar is dire! Food is a rip off!! I paid £15 for a tiny oven cooked fish and chips. The worse i have ever eaten! Crap entertainment (kareoke 2 days a week). When asking if entertainment on a Saturday, the managet actually said to me they didnt have the budget, which gives you an idea of how little money they have to invest in the hotel.

The above are just a few observations..

The location is the best thing about the hotel. But i dont recommend anyone staying here. Thenowners clearlynrumnyhe hitel inna dhoe string. Theres a distinct lack of investment that can be felt the moment you walk in.

I would find a more modern hotel, somewhere where you actually feel like youre on a holiday as this hotel didnt!

Clean room, Seaview, Room service available.
I booked four nights, upon arrival the lift was not working. As I am disabled. After the 1st night, I requested a possible move to a ground floor room or move to the next door sister hotel. As I had booked a Seaview with terrace. The manager Julian, ensured we was given an equivalent valued or upgraded room, he arranged for an upgraded move at no extra charge to the next door sister hotel which had a working lift, Seaview and private balcony. Our daily breakfast request was also honoured. Julian, thank you so much for your understanding also for a smooth transition. Customer service at it's best!

There were lots of nice things about the hotel, it was very reasonably priced, had a swimming pool and sauna. The breakfast was a limited buffet with the hot food trad British eggs and bacon and done very nicely. The furniture in the room was a little tired but everything worked. They seem to be running on low staff numbers, although the staff in general were very pleasant and helpful. Would be happy to return again. Wonder what it is like peak season?

Stayed in a penthouse room which was spacious, the view was fantastic, and proximity to town was good, so the cost was worth it for that. However, the fridge wasn’t very cold (we had bought drinks for the balcony) although this was remedied by a friendly barman who sorted us an ice bucket with plenty of ice. The main annoyance though was a strange cistern noise which occurred very frequently 24 hours a day and kept us up at times! The shower was also very stiff and difficult to move to a temperature which didn’t burn you alive.
Fortunately we had read about the £12 per day parking charge, so be aware of that too
Massages in the spa next door were good, but there is no cut through between hotels so a not very relaxing experience getting through the howling wind and rain back to our hotel! Indoor pool also quite small and only a few chairs around the sides so more for kids in the rain than an area to relax

Some rooms need updating, I was in room 322 was small but was ok for a single person. Room was very warm even with the fan on constantly and the window always open. Had issues with my uncle’s room, I had requested a suitable room for him as he has mobility issues my request hadn’t been read so had to wait 2 days for him to be moved. I must admit the new room was perfect, walking shower and large double room which meant he was able to move about without bumping into anything, also had a sea view. He was in room 203. Breakfast was good only problem was the cups by the coffee machine was very slow to be replenished.

The room was excellent location with perfect scenery. The furniture except the bed was absolutely appalling. The coffee table, dressing table and the drawers were falling apart. The bi-fold door had a crack and the bathroom sink was extremely outdated ( no mixed tap).

Generally, the room was clean and renovated, but the balcony had super old deck boards, which didn’t reflect the price of the room.

Parking is small, but overall the place is worth visiting because of the location. The food was average , but well priced. Room service staff were very friendly. The restaurant for breakfast was in the basement, but the food was nice. There wasn’t a big variety of food.

I will recommend the place, but would rate it as good. The lift is outdated and needs proper maintenance.

Basic hotel that needs updating, ok as a base

I booked using my Tesco clubcard vouchers.I wanted somewhere walking distance to the sea.The sea was approx. 15 mins walk down the zig zag.The staff were friendly but in particular we liked the bar staff. The Spanish lady (forgot to get her name) and the man that was there on Tuesday evening were particularly nice.
Unfortunately our room was very tired looking, the drawers had ripped the wall paper and the furniture was very dated. The beds were very uncomfortable. They really need memory foam mattresses. I shared with my son and every time he moved I felt it. It was also so hot. Luckily the hotel provides fans which helped a bit.
There is no ‘beauty pack’ just 3 mini bottles of shower gel.
I was surprised there wasn’t even a fridge in the room.
Our room was tidied and cleaned after our first night which wasn’t expected. Although it was nice to come home to a tidy room, our towels were replaced (which wasn’t needed) and all we had were 3 hand towels.
Having access to the Cumberland outdoor pool is great. Good sized pool. Just needs some new sun beds.
We ate at the hotel on Tuesday evening and had breakfast both mornings. The food is nice. The breakfast was very basic but good.
I can’t say I’d recommend this hotel I’m afraid. It needs a lot of tlc. I also think it’s wrong to charge for parking just because we didn’t book directly!
I also told reception on arrival that there was glass in the car park and it was still there when we left.

It was ok but I don't know about revisiting.

The hotel was clean. Kind staff, especially at the restaurant and pub. Sleeping was hard because of noise. There was also a gap between the door and the floor (one of them was uneven). The food options were ok. It also looked like the reception didn't have much communication with the restaurant. The pub was really nice to eat and be there. Overall it was between ok and good; but I'm not sure if I would like to revisit.

Great hotel for solo traveller - room was compact but perfectly adequate and very clean. Single bed was comfortable. The fan was an added bonus. The pool was good and the outdoor pool next door a great addition. 10 - 15 minute walk
from the town centre. All for £65 - definitely recommended.

The walls and ceilings in the rooms are very thin, always doors slamming shut, people have personal 1-1 love and it sounds like you're laying right next to it. I didn't sleep for both nights I stayed and left very tired. But staff and other areas are nice but not to chatty in turms of customer service in dining room.

It is an affordable stay. Hotel is close to the beach, with limited parking (£12 overnight).
Room was spacious and the water in the bathroom is great in terms of pressure and temperature.

Restaurant staff were amazing. Very well trained.

Wanted to use the gym facilities, but there was a smell and my friend said it is the black mould. I am not quite sure though.

The worst part of the stay was that my credit card information was stolen. My advice for you is that you should set up a SMS authentication.

Lovely location and possibility to stay outside on the patio enjoying a glass of Prosecco and admiring the view of the sea unforgettable. I would love to go back there for sure. Thank you .

An old English seaside hotel.

We booked two standard rooms, a king and a twin and both rooms were pretty ropey and could do with some TLC.
Cheap poorly painted furniture in the rooms and creaky floorboards throughout.
No air conditioning in the king room and the twin room was a disabled room next to the lift with no window only a frosted glass door which led out to the rusty rear fire escape.
The rest of the hotel was a bit more loved with a nice bar area and restaurant where we had a nice buffet breakfast.
Staff were friendly and attentive during check in and breakfast service so overall we enjoyed our stay.
Location is fantastic on the clifftop above Bournemouth beach with easy access to the beach, boardwalk and a beachside restaurant and bar (El Murrino).

We arrived early but could book in. Was taken aback that because we didn't pay directly at the hotel, we had to pay for car parking (£12 a night). Our room (34) was good but basic, it was very clean and all in working order and the bed was comfortable. The room view was terrible and very noisy. We could hear every foot step and squeaky floor board above us. The breakfast was very good. Did stay for the bar or if evening entertainment existed. The hotel is about 20 mins walk from the centre.There is a bus service they were good if you timed it right. The buses don't have a service after 6pm, so walking or taxi is the only option. The staff were nice but nothing really special.

Excellent value, Terms Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. The quality of food was great, the service, friendly and helpful. The single bedroom had everything necessary, comfortable and clean situated at the side but still with a partial sea view, although overlooked by a bedroom from the hotel next door. Situated on the 1st floor, serviced by a very steep staircase and a very small 4 person /2 with luggage lift, causing 75yr + stress. Friday was noisy until 1215am, other nights quieter. I would stay there, should I visit Bournemouth again.

Not the place to stay in Bournemouth

You need to level with your clients when they book. Either up the booking rate by £ 6.00 per night, or stop hassling the guests when they book out. I do not expect to have to pay for parking if I am a guest, and being asked to pay £ 12.00 for two nights parking is to say the least impolite. Would I refer friends and colleagues to you? Not unless you change your attitude.

Great stay for a short break

We had a great stay, we didn't realise parking wasn't included free, so this wasn't clear until we arrived and considering the difficulty parking, the fee per day was quite excessive. Staff were pleasant and helpful. It was good to have links with the two hotels either side. We had a lovely room, but in general the hotel does need a little TLC, particularly the outside seating (so uncomfortable) which is why we used the hotels either side for sitting outside on warm days. For the size of the hotel, it really does need more than one lift.

If you’re planning to book this hotel, think again. We booked for 4 days but there was barely enough parking space, guests were fighting over spots, and the hotel charges £12 a night for parking, paid on arrival. Poor sanitation too – our bedroom toilet wouldn’t flush properly, there was no fridge or iron in the room. The restaurant service was far from impressive, and a staff member even brought a dog near the food. I’m a dog lover but not everyone is. Overall, the service was poor and definitely not worth your stay in Bournemouth.

It’s very conveniently located next to the beach and offers good access to the beach. It is an old property and lot of things do look aged. The rooms are clean and has required amenities. The gym is non existent and has some rusted weights and old treadmills. Pool looks better. The rooms, lift and stairways have old musky odour.
I had paid for breakfast and requested for an early breakfast as I was leaving early for work and the front desk staff promised it will be provided but when I went down to the restaurant no one was aware on 2 consecutive days and some of the staff at the restaurant were upfront rude and dismissive. This put me off the whole experience. Horrible way to behave with customer and even after requesting for breakfast on 2 days the service and communication was extremely poor. They even charged me for a breakfast tray which was never delivered. Not going to stay here again.

Tired Suncliff

The penthouse room we stayed in was tired and in desperate need of an update, as did the main areas of the hotel.
The breakfast was basic and one of the mornings exceptionally busy.
If it hadn't been for the neighbouring Cumberland Hotel, where we could use their outside pool and bar area, the stay at the Suncliff would have been average at best.

After reading some reviews was unsure how we would view hotel
After staying for original 2 nights we stayed for a further 2. Could not fault the staff for service nothing to much trouble.Always polite and courteous

Hotel amenities excellent indoor pool very good with access to outdoor pool in hotel next door
Hotel situated a short walk from a beautiful beach, short walk into town

Good location for Bournemouth beach/Pier and good that on site parking available. Hotel is very dated and could do with being modernised. Our room was uncomfortably hot (no air con) and only a small and not very powerful fan provided. Walls very thin so lots of noise from outside and doors slamming, other guests coming and going. Cheeky that you have to pay for parking if you don't book direct. Staff on reception need customer service training. We cut our 2 night stay down to 1 and won't be staying here again in the future.

I didnt like that i had to pay an addittion 24 pound for the car park. If i booked direct would have been cheaper. Followed by staff that were rude and a hotel very run down.

Good price and location, I would stay again.

Last minute trip, I found a really good deal on hotels.com and that pushed me to go. I am glad I did so. :)
The hotel was easy to find and short walk distance from the train/bus station.
It was also close to the sea (top of the cliff).
In the price was included also leisure centre - i.e. sauna, gym, indoor pool, etc. I didn't use it.
On the the site was also a big bar with plenty of seating available.
The hotel is really big, it was easy to get lost. :D
I booked only a single room and it was big enough - the bed was fine, there was also a desk, kettle & tea/coffee, TV, bathroom was big enough as well - shower worked well, sink could be bigger. ;)
I am glad it was not really hot day because early sun, too much light and heat woke me up early. The window could be bigger, but thanks God there was a fan available.:)
I was happy with my stay at Suncliff Hotel and I would stay again. Thank you. :)
