Room clean .No charging points on sockets for phones etc. Staff generally helpful and well turned out.
Food: gtasty and well presented and reasonably priced BUT only scrambled eggs on the breakfast menu!!! The help yourself breakfast menu is NOT appreciated by most guests in my experience. The toaster doesn't really work and the food in the heated trays is generally luke- warm by the time guests have got their own tea toast etc and returned to the table.
Confusion amongst staff and customers re price of drinks at Happy Hour: drinks should be half price not two for one. Then everyone would understand the system and singles would not be forced to have two drinks when they only wanted one.

This hotel is a little dated in some areas, as others have pointed out... but overall its lovely... a big old mansion-style building...
The reception is staffed 24/7 and the problems we reported were dealt with efficiently...
The spa area (which cost us £20pp to use for our 3 nights stay) is well kept, with a sauna, steam room, relaxation room (that smelled divine), an aromatherapy room (that hardly smelled of anything!), a spa pool, jacuzzi and treatment rooms... the room we had was of a good size with all amenities you'd expect in this day and age...we opted for breakfast which was (on the whole) yummy - scrambled egg, bacon, sausages, hash browns, beans, grilled tomatoes, a good selection of cereals, various breads, boiled eggs (peeled and cold), fruit juices, tea, coffe, jams and yoghurt
Theres a good gym and a bigger pool too...
I've taken one star off because of the problems we had to report - in our first room the toilet flush was faulty and the silver panel fell off the wall... this was fixed quickly but in our second room (we had to move rooms after the first night because there was a leak, under our bathroom that had flooded the area below) we had to report a faulty glass panel at the side of the shower (it had come loose where it was glued to the floor) and the shower fixing was loose where it held the shower head in place... i would expect each room to be checked before it is occupied/allocated to guests...surely doing so would save issues like ours

The room was comfortable and fine for a couple of nights. The staff were friendly and always around to be able to ask questions etc. There was access to the swimming pool, gym and spa if required. The only downside was that my wife and I both got a stomach problem which we think may have been due to a liquer that had gone off, but waiting for feedback from hotel. They handled the situation in a friendly manner and are investigating.

The hotel looks very nice in the photos, but once you arrive you can notice some differences. The rooms appear clean at first glance, but I found hair in the bathtub and on the towel, so I had to ask for a new one. The bathtub is old and damaged, with chipped areas. Despite booking the room for two people, only one set of soap and shower gel was provided. The bed is comfortable. The WORST thing, and the reason I would never return, is the cleaning staff. I stayed in a room on the first floor, possibly near their staff area, and it was a nightmare. Starting from 9am, they talk to each other by SHOUTING in the hallway the entire time. They also slam doors instead of closing them quietly, so there is constant noise. As a result, for both nights of my stay I woke up very early because of them. The room was very warm, which I personally didn’t mind, but the person staying with me found it uncomfortable, so you would need to keep the window open to sleep well. The pool looks large in the photos, but it’s actually quite small. It is also open to people from outside the hotel, and they hold children’s swimming lessons, so the pool is divided. There are constantly people walking back and forth, which made me feel uncomfortable, so I didn’t swim at all. There were no hotel guests in the pool, so it would have been empty and much quieter if it weren’t for the swimming lessons. Parents also enter wearing shoes, which makes it not very clean and the instructors shout continuously.

We stayed in a family room. Two adults and two children (10 and 13). There was lots of space and the beds were comfortable.
Staff were honestly brilliant, from the helpfulness of reception, the breakfast hostess as well as the spa staff, couldn’t ask for more.
Everything was really clean at the beginning of each day.

Atmosphere is important and the staff went above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. We went out of season so that may have made a difference to the dynamic. There was calm and peace both important to us. The breakfast was superb although I wanted to give some tips as to how to make the best scrambled eggs! You had to choose your time to use the pool as not always available but the gym was generally quiet. We are looking forward to returning next year.

The room was ok, we paid for breakfast and I asked for a cup to take some medicine I was given a cup with brown stains in it then we was given tea cups my husbands had lipstick on the side (wasn’t even his colour 😂) I think possibly the staff may need a bit more training as you shouldn’t really serve up dirty dishes in a hotel if you want to keep your reputation

Major booking issues as money was taken for the whole booking prior to arrival on a \"pay at property\" booking. Hotel were very quick to blame expedia for this and there was not even a thought of any sort of goodwill gesture.

Bathrooms in some rooms were very dated, breakfast awful (hard sausages, soggy hash browns). Car parking advertised at £15 per night but what they don't tell you is to wait until you are in the hotel to pay to get this rate rather than pay a higher rate using the app advertised in the car park.

This hotel is like the Ryanair of hotels - breakfast cost extra, using the sauna cost extra, parking cost extra. And they wanted up front payment for these things rather than adding onto room tab which is not something I have ever come across before.

Bar staff on our second night were rude.

Only positive was the location.

The room was clean, most of the staff were helpful, except one lady in the restaurant. Pool was clean. I struggled getting in the shower as it was over the bath. I have a bad leg. I used the shower by the pool instead. I should have asked for a disabled room, which I did not. Overall it was good. Food was reasonably priced, but drinks were very expensive.

No parking, all spaces were taken and they were going to charge us £10 a day even when I had already paid £360 for two night stay.
Room was tired, no extractor in bathroom, no lock on bathroom door, mould around silicone and shower was awful.

Bedroom had no aircon, just a portable fan which I wasnt overly impressed with.

Swimming pool was also tired and in dire need of a refurb.

Breakfast was great and the gentleman taking us to our seats was awesome.

The bar at night was insanely expensive. £8.50+ per pint.

Not going to stay here again unfortunately.

Place was clean we had a lower end price room which had lose floorboards and up stairs had the same our two small windows looked out to the fire stairs outside so really couldn’t have them open at night . Hot tub and parking inside the grounds of the hotel are extra and quite expensive , should have looked at this before booking . On leaving at work he end of the stay we checked out with not even a good bye did you enjoy your stay . Very poor service . But still a good rest from work and rehab for my partner

The hotel is perfectly nice - room and bed comfortable. It is a bit tired and worn looking and maybe a refurb of the upstairs/bedrooms would be good. Carpets in corridors not great. A bit noisy from the road outside (I was in a room facing the road). Plus points are very nice little swimming pool - not too crowded. Staff all pleasant and friendly.

Breakfast was self service which is fine however a fried egg would have been nice instead of scrambled each day. The pool area was very warm and again needs a bit of an update but on the whole our stay was satisfactory.

Booked two rooms £168 a night, one room for two nights one room for 1 night so over £500 , Firstly Receptionist trying to tell me card had been declined online and I had to pay again! so had to prove that I had paid..not a good start! She also needs to smile a bit, as rude ..first impressions and all that! They also don’t tell you at time of booking that £10 a night for parking so we parked on the road but a bit worried for our car as there was evidence of two car windows smashed! The room was like staff accommodation from the 80’s absolute disgrace, there’s obviously a problem with the roof as damp patches everywhere and trying to cover up rotten wood with bad filling. There must have been a tall person who put the mirror up in the bathroom as I could only see the top of my head in it, I am 5’3, paintwork very tired and need some bleach in that bath!! we only stayed one night, didn’t even check into the other room then booked into a Premier Inn in Cardiff, even had to get out of Bournemouth as the west cliff stressed me out.. this hotel could take some lessons from the premier inn!

We had a great stay, the staff were amazing, Josh on reception was the first staff member that we met. He could see I was struggling with my cases and came to my rescue. Both myself and my husband have mobility issues. Josh made such a great first impression, and from that moment we were not disappointed. The accessible room was fantastic, the breakfast was second to none. We will definitely be returning, we felt totally pampered.

As a boundless.co.uk member, you get free parking, use of spa and late checkou. Manager at reception demanded money from my daughter as we had booked late checkout (She actually stated that unless we book direct with the hotel, there are no free parking, no free spa service or free late checkout. Told her this was incorrect. When I got home I called Boundless and was told Hotel manager was wrong with every point. Boundless will be contacting the hotel manager receptionist to advise her on the rules. This happened on my nephews 10th birthday and the day was ruined. Boundless.co.uk were brilliant, the lady knew the conditions of Westcliff hotel on her finger tips

Very dirty room, we booked large room for four people. Really horrid damp smell that I later realised was the carpet bellow the air conditioning unit, When it kept me up most of the night dripping on to the floor.
The room also had visible wet walls and a very cracked ceiling.
Staff were really good, and great with the children too. Food was fine. Spa facilities very good.
Overall way over priced as there’s no way I’d live in the conditions our room was in.

Staycationing in Bournemouth 😍

It was amazing and a walking distance to the sandy beach which was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was lovely and varied.

The room was a good size and lovely however my husband and I got two single beds in our room which was unexpected.

The shower space was small with a bar on the side which my husband bumped into. It was our first trip to Bournemouth and we enjoyed it. Thank fully, it was not during the heatwave otherwise the fans would not have been adequate. There is need to install AC in the rooms.

It was not clear on the hotel website that we had to pay to use the spa. The hotel said Westcliff hotel and spa. The spa experience was pleasant but it needs to be stated clearly that there is an additional cost for the spa.

Staff at the hotel and spa were lovely. We were there for two nights but I was allowed to use the spa day ticket for two days. The room was clean and eco friendly. We forgot to redeem the £5 voucher on food and drinks when don’t have your room cleaned for short stays. Best hotel chips that my husband has had in a while. 😃

Fire alarm nightmare

We stayed in a family room which was spacious and was suitable for our needs. Decor and furnishings looked a bit tired but seemed clean. The major problem was in the early hours of the morning when we were all awoke by the fire alarm. I understand this happens but the fact we didn’t see any member of staff after 30 minutes of waiting outside with other guests was pretty poor. Eventually the alarm stopped and another guest told us they had heard that one of the hotel staff had disconnected the alarm as it was the only way to stop the sound. We apprehensively went back to our room to try and sleep before our early departure. It was pretty unnerving knowing that if there was a fire the alarm was disabled. In the morning no member of staff apologised or explained what had happened. Really disappointed we had wasted our our saved hotel rewards on such an awful nights sleep. Basic communication and an apology would have gone a long way to resolving this.

The facilities and common areas make up for the drab but functional room we had (family room, double bed and 2 roll out beds). The lovely warm indoor pool and gym were the highlight of the stay with the restaurant/ bar a close second. Staff were helpful and friendly, but not in a 'we're a premium hotel' kind of way.

Whilst nothing was exceptional, the pool and the 10mins walk to the beach or town centre made it a good choice and I'd have no problem choosing it again.

I book this hotel purely down to the pool. Arrived with my 12 year old son to find the pool closed at 7:30pm. Woke up the next morning to find we couldn’t use it again due to a Swimming class!! My son was so disappointed. Staff weren’t great. The Deputy manager was “sorry” but that was it. Had to ask him to compensate by giving us a free breakfast which he did, but it wasn’t offered. On top of that, because we were checking in late, we tried calling for over an hour and 30 minutes. Not one person answered!! Not great.

We booked a family room, however there was only 1 very small window and hardly any ventilationnor natural light.
We asked if we could change rooms to a room with more natural light. The reception staff were very helpful. We moved rooms and we had big bay window with loads of natural light. For an extra fee of £20 per night.
The pool was amazing. It wasn't too busy and it was a lovely temperature and was very clean and maintained. The food was good and breakfast was great. Over all it was a really enjoyable stay.
The hotel is in a great location. I would definitely recommend staying at West cliff Hotel. The rooms at the front of the hotel seem to be the best to choose from.
The vibe was good and the spa looked busy although we didn't venture there.
I am definitely coming back!!!!

Highly recommended

Lovely hotel. Would hoghly recommend. We stayed in the deluxe suite, it was extremely comfortable, very clean and had ecwrything we needed for our 2 nights stay. Coffee and tea, bottled water, iron and air conditioning. Plenty of towels for the 3 of us and complementary slippers and robes. The staff were cery polite and friendly and the food was exceptional

Decent hotel

I like that you get a £5 bar voucher if opting not to have room cleaned over a duration of more than one night. I initially had to move room due to very loud neighbours but this was dealt with professionally. Breakfast was average for £15 but they did cater for veggie sausages.

Good location with clean facilities, needed a bar in the room. Good indoor swimming pool, very warm. Nice spa facilities but steam room needs more steam.
