Very disappointing, poor choice based on website.

Dilapidated \"For Sale\" sign outside was indicative of the general state. Friendly receptionist showed us to room which was reasonable. Fridge missing. TV produced only \"No signal\" and receptionist could not make it work so spent an hour sorting another room to which we moved. This had the promised fridge and working TV. Badly stained furniture (photo) and traces of mould on shower curtain. Blocked bath/shower drain very slow to clear. Actual shower worked excellently, good flow and stable temperature - best thing about the place! Towels and bedding appeared clean. Bar deserted, real ale not available. Restaurant deserted, looked abandoned and although a menu was in evidence it is unclear whether the kitchen was working. Fortunately great food and drink were available at other establishments within easy walking distance in Forest Row.. Exterior all in need of a proper clean. All in all a poor choice based on website, will not be returning.

No staff present on arrival, how to track someone down to help us. He asked no security questions, not asked sign anything, just given a key.
The corridors were boiling hot and had a horrid smell. Obviously people had been smoking im the hotel.
Room was filthy. Bed linen ok, but the cushions and throw were stained and torn.
Hair and scum around the bath. Disgusting toilet brush.
The door to the joining room was left open.l and room next door not serviced.
Paint and wall paper hanging off walls.
Generally just dirty and unclean everywhere.
Giant holes in the car park. No warnings.
This is going to end with damaged cars or injury.
We immediately left could not find anyone again to talk to. So went to find alternative accommodation.
Such a shame as it could be lovely. The whole area was buzzing, the 2 pubs opposite were full and there was not a single person in pr around this property.
I have since tried reaching out and i have heard nothing!!!

Singularly the worst hotel I have ever been to. I remember the Brambletye in its heyday and the photos looked fabulous (they are obviously very old photos) so, when I had to stay locally I booked without looking at Trip Advisor reviews. Never will I make that mistake again. It looks like nothing has been cared for in decades. Worn carpets, tired woodwork and the unpleasant odour of curry and damp everywhere.
My introduction to this monstrosity was via their car park where the bang to my car’s shock absorbers as I descended and rose through ridiculously deep pot holes was so bad I thought I’d hit something. When cars are parked both sides of the entrance you cannot see the potholes until you turn into them.
I didn’t take pictures of the hotel as, on a hot 24 degree day I got my key, went towards my allocated room, passing radiators on full blast (!) and entered a room that hasn’t been modernised for well over 20 years. I turned round, exited quickly and gave my key back to the one member of staff and said ‘I cannot stay here, it is absolutely awful’ and got a weak reply of ‘I’m sorry’ and I left.
It has taken me 3 weeks and many emails to get a full refund via Expedia through whom I booked and who still show a rating of 7.6 out of 10!despite my complaints.
Absolutely avoid. Minus 5 star rating!

Couldn’t close window as the handle had come off prior to our stay so the window was open all the time.

Turned up at 1.30pm and given the room. The room was dark and dingy even with the lights on. The floor and cupboards were dirty, and didn’t want to risk sleeping in the beds. Also, the corridors stank of vomit. The place was up for sale and it was obvious that no money had been spent on the accommodation or rooms.
There was no way weee were stopping there. We left and found found another hotel in the next village.

After getting upgraded though a problem with the booking the staff were brilliant and sorted the problem and made us aware of the band that as playing that night of which the loud music would be heard till 1am.
Wallpaper hanging off the walls and very small corridors, carpark had massive holes in which scratched the front of the car.

The hotel clearly needs refreshing it’s tired and a bit scruffy, bathroom in particular. Car park full of huge potholes and large puddles.
Staff friendly and helpful. Price reasonable but higher than nicer venues just outside Forest Row.

Good service, clean, great indian restaurant.

Lovely service, they are really trying to do everything well. The room had a bath, great shower, a safe, a fan, decent kettle, the bed was remade every day and all used towels replaced.

The restaurant is highly recommended for a curry.

Parking is really difficult to make out if you arrive in the dark and the carpark is not in good condition but on street parking worked for my stay.

The people who we met were all nice however, the service and cleanliness was very poor. The place is very tired and in need of a refurb. But as well there were things left out all over the place, looked untidy and like no one cared. Won’t stay again. And no breakfast offered at all.

I didn't like the fact that there was no food, despite the fact that a restaurant was advertised. There wasn't any room service, cleaning, replenishing of cups, tea and coffee. Fridge was filled with mold and dirt. If there was no facility for food, then we should have been told.

The rooms and common areas are very unclean. Ceiling in room is papered, yellowed and falling down. Bathroom taps not working properly, shower control not fixed properly. Furniture very old and carpets are filthy. Needs a major refurb and a very deep clean. Carpets as you walk up the stairs haven't seen a vacuum in a very long time. Felt like I needed to wipe my feet on leaving! Very overpriced for the condition of the hotel.

We booked this for the night before a charity walk which meant we needed to be out at 5am, safe to say the live music going on until after midnight was not expected nor fun! The hotel appears very dated, and very empty! No food service at all, very few guests it seemed and hardly any staff around. The building and room was very tired, a thick layer of dust on the back of the tv and the bathroom very dated. No restaurant service, and the bar was deserted, infact it was shut when I got back at 9.30pm, and the front door was already locked and no staff around at all. The few staff I did see were very pleasant. The car park was horrendously flooded and very dark so almost impossible to avoid the water, and as the back entrance was locked it was a long dark walk around to the front door. This hotel definitely needs a new lease of life somehow!

A short stay but a few observations:
- Carpets on the stairs up to the room hadn't been hoovered in a long time
- chair in room fell apart on day 2. I'd been sitting at it on day 1. Day 2 I went to pull it out and it fell apart. If I'd sat on it I'd have been injured
- thermostat on shower didn't work. It delivered scalding got water only
- mixer on shower leaked constantly. Could only hear dripping. They'd attempted to address this by wrapping a towel around the taps to catch the drips. Problem is when I arrived it had clearly been there a few days and was sopping wet so drips hit with a loud thud
- kettle was half full with water. No idea how long it had been there. Should have been emptied

5* from A to Z. Friendly professional receptionist.
Great attitude, oriented to the customer.
Clean rooms and free of oddors.
Nice bead and room including the toilet.
A little bit cold for my own taste definitely not so cold as to botter me in any way.
I guess if I was looking was a thermostat on the radiator. Clean hotel with a large free carpark. (As improvement few lights in the carpark will made a big difference for safety of the customer cars and goods ) .
Thank you very much for the acoomodation and I will look into booking this hotel again in the future.
PS : A bar is also available in the premises for whomever is interested in having few beers. (Was not my case this time but is good to know).

Although the staff were friendly and accommodating as much as possible, the state of the room was and the furnishings was not good. From lights not working to headboards falling off in the night and a panel covering a hole that you could see the outside from. No breakfast offered and very little to appeal to customers. Unfortunately not somewhere we would ever visit again.

Property was located in centre of village which was ideal. There were however a few issues.
1). The car park is down the street and away from the hotel I didn’t feel great parking my car in there overnight. 2). Hotel has seen better days and could do with a renovation and a new make over. When I checked in to the room the staff did pre warn me about the adjoining pub having music playing but when I came back after midnight the pub was still blasting music and had punters outside being very rowdy. Hotel should definitely be a 2* rather than a 3*. Prices also need to come down for the rooms as I paid too much for an average family room.

The hotel staff all very pleasing and very helpful . The room did it job . It was starting to look a bit tired . Bed and facilities worked okay . A little bit worried about the radiator in the bathroom , the rust on it looked like it was ready for bursting at any time . The restaurant and food was good . I would stay there again . Just need to get the maintenance person working .

good potential but poorly delivered

Straight forward basic facility that could have been most acceptable but was marred by poor maintenance (no plug for sink, power sockets not working, gutter outside overflowing and pouring on the windowsill disturbing sleep) and no facility for breakfast.

As septuagenarians we were asked mid stay to vacate our ground floor room to an upstairs room (no lift) for another guest. We later saw that the other guest coming out of the room we had vacated.

We feel that having to waste time for the move was unreasonable and appeared to be a case of racial and age discrimination, giving greater importance to the preferences of a single young black African new guest rather than us as already resident elderly white British

Location is great, but Hotel could benefit from TLC.
Shower dirty and mouldy, half finished bottle of juice in fridge. TV has no reception, broken hairdryer plug (Health & Safety) and unspeakable stains. The bar staff however was nice and tried the best. Otherwise a bit like a Fawlty Tower experience
I would have loved to love the hotel as it has potential.

No Wi-Fi and Poor Service

The Brambletye (or 'The Bram') is very tired and that goes for the property and also the attitude of the staff.
I was allocated Room 2 and was unable to fully draw the curtains, I had to wedge my suitcase up against them to hold them together (with a room that faces directly onto the car park I didn't fancy my chances of privacy in the morning)
I ordered poached eggs on toast for breakfast and was told by the waitress \"there's the toaster\" so I ordered just the poached eggs and then had to get my own toast to accompany them, by which time they were luke warm.
Probably a blessing, as the eggs were uncooked in any case...not a good experience.
The guy behind the desk at reception couldn't wait to tell me how he'd rather be outside and couldn't wait to go on holiday.
Oh yes and of course no Wi-Fi AGAIN.
I have stayed here before (not too much choice in the area) with a similar experience so I think enough is enough now.

Lovely weekend stay

•Fantastic staff - extremely helpful, and provided excellent service, both on reception and in the bar/restaurant.
•Great food - Breakfast was lovely, and The steak we had in the evening was amazing.
•The hotel had very good cleanliness in the rooms and throughout the communal areas.
•There was plenty of stuff to do in the local area, loads of nice walks to go on, we visited pooh corner and the llama park which were both within 3 miles of the hotel and easily accessible by car or bus, and was extremely enjoyable.
•Only issues that I found during the stay was the double bed was a bit small and soft for me, but being 6'4\" I prefer King-size bed for extra length, so not necessarily a down point for some, also the shower was boiling and could not adjust it to a reasonable temperature, the Staff member on reception, managed to adjust the temperature, but it still remained pretty hot and uncomfortable.

Best place to stay in Forest Row

Good place to stay in centre of Forest Rowm back room was quiet inspite of music in bar. Although I didn't eat in the restaurant the menu looked inetresting. Other restaurants opposite of road.The rear carpark has no lighting. The hotel must install some lighting or fix the potholes as I tripped carrying my heavy suitcase. Wifi signal was strong but wouldn't load webpages.

Lovely small hotel

Great staff and live music on Saturday night made this a memorable stay. Our room was in the original part of the building and was full of character. Room was clean and the bed comfortable. Good car park at the rear.

Friendly check in staff but...

We booked and paid for a Deluxe room but there was a function on and we were told the room could be noisy so ahead of time (2 weeks) we were told we would be moved to a quieter standard room at the back of the hotel. However, despite being assured the new room price would reflect a lower rate room the next morning when we went to check out the receptionist knew nothing about a price change/room change, was unable to offer us the promised reduced rate so we were still charged full deluxe rate. Not very good customer service at all.

Overnight Stay

Good experience - stayed overnight as attending a local wedding. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and well kept. It was very olde worlde {lots of character) but didn't appear dated although the bath had seen better days. Breakfast was cooked to order and was plentiful. Guests helped themselves to cereal ,toast and juices.A very comfortable stay.

£90 rate too expensive for hotel

We picked this hotel because it was close to where we were going to a wedding. The room was clean but lacked coziness.
The breakfast was nice however the service wasn’t great, quite slow and the waitresses seemed uninterested in the guests.
We were charged £90 for our twin room inclusive of breakfast, this rate was not what Hotels.com quoted however.
We wouldn’t stay at the hotel again and were a bit disappointed on the whole.
