Go as a hostel, not hotel. Don’t fall for pics

Claustrophobic rooms. I don’t have a problem with a small room but if you are going to sell windows, give windows with light and space. This was like staying in a windowless basement room. Only one room per floor has proper window with expansive view/light and they aren’t willing to give you that room even if available.

The property is shiny in the public spaces but room is old and in need of major TLC. Toilet smells like damp mould. Shower was shooting daggers.

Rude service. Except for the house keeping staff - the front desk service is… abysmal at best.

Great Hotel with Excellent Location!

The hotel is in a very good location, close to the Raohe Night Market, the Songshan Train Station and MRT. The hotel is also very clean and the staff and housekeepers are all very friendly and accommodating. The walls are a bit thin as you can easier hear others talk at night. The hotel also offers vegetarian buffet breakfast daily at no extra charge. I will consider staying here again next time if I visit Taiwan.

I booked a last minute trip to Taipei and found this hotel for a great price. The room was spacious with nice view from 12th floor. Hotel is near Songshan MRT station, only 3 minute walk. The staff was helpful and spoke great English.

The property itself is old but clean. The night market is just few steps away from the door. The complimentary breakfast is all veggies and it is acceptable with this pricing. The downside is you will have to pay extra for late checkout, deposit for extra keycard. The bathtub is unbelievably high which is not fit for elderly. Overall is 7 out of 10.

random noises at night.

overall, it was ok. i'm super low maintenance, as long as there's a nice comfy bed and great water pressure in the shower i'm good.

the thing that really bothered me (and it might be just my room) there was this random clattering sound (think rain drops hitting a metal roof but 50 drops per second) i thought it was the AC or the bathroom dehumidifier, but it's not, i actually heard the sound outside my room as well. i'm ok with white noise, (ac sound or bathroom) but this was super random at 3am or 4am when it's really quiet. i was thinking of switching room, but we were tired and it's another 2 nights, so i just let it be. if you're not vegan/ vegetarian, u can skip breakfast.

Very convenient location for our tour which starts at the Songshan train station and is easy walking distance to the hotel. The MRT station and the night market entrance is right across the street and there are several banks next to the hotel. The room is clean but a bit small and we like the breakfast that is included. The only knock is that there is no space in the lobby to hang out for the group and the dining area is closed off for access after lunch.

Not a 4-star but decent

I am in agreement with other reviewers that this is NOT a 4-star hotel... not even by a LONG stretch. Someone at the hotel really need to learn what a 4-star hotel means.

This hotel is basically a slightly larger version of Japanese business hotel but without the clever use of space and furniture. I didn't have space to open my hardshell luggage and didn't have space on the desk space to have my laptop and a paper notebook at the same time. The bathroom vanity has zero space for any of your own items.

The hotel, however, is very clean and has all the typical Japanese-type amenities, including a bidet and large TV.

The breakfast is ran by the 1st floor lobby restaurant, a separate entity, which is a vegan restaurant. I can understand why it's a turn off for many - they didn't even have eggs or milk products. However, the vegan dishes are well prepared, tasty, but obviously very Asian, so for westerners, it can be an issue. I did enjoy the dishes because they use high-quality expensive ingredients as I enjoy soy, tofu, mushroom and vegetables. Perhaps it could be a good balance to those unhealthy street food people would eat in the nearby nightmarket.

Good to stay if you like to visit night market

We just stayed there for one night for a quick transit, so the room we chose was very small and it’s at the corner. Basically if you have big luggages, you won’t be able to open. The good part is that it has a heating system in the bathroom, and it is in Very good location, right next to the night market.

Closed to MRT, which is good. Whenever I enter my room, smelled mold or bad odor, I think it’s from the Carpet. I suggest to remove it. I requested disable room, which was excellent with shower chair, hand rails around shower, toilet and hand sink areas. Very safe for disabled person. Shower water was big and hot was really good. But hand sink has no hot water and very small water flow. I thought that’s purposed to save water, until I couldn’t stand the tiny water flow, and complained, they fixed it with special screw driver , then the faucet with good hot water and flow. But I already stayed 7 days only two days left. Breakfast included is good. Varieties of food is good but too too greasy. Cook should save oil expenses. They are quick on my request. I recommend this hotel to travelers. I will come again if carpet replaced with any other material like synthetic wood, not necessary expensive kind. No bad smell is great hotel.

We were at arrived early in the morning. Staffs were organised for us to check in before the actual check in time. We are very happy to stay at Capital Hotel Songshan. Service are good, clean room, connivence to public transport. Walking distance to day & night markets, restaurants and shops.
I would recommend Capital Hotel Songsgan to any travellers.

Capital Hotel provides everything I needed during my stay. Breakfast was served every morning and the option for meals throughout the day from the in house restaurant were also available. The MRT and the Rahoue night market are literally across the street. There is also a city link mall that boasts plenty of restaurants within walking distance (approx 5 min). The hotel also hand washing machines that cost NT$ 50 each which was also available from the front desk. Great service with good food in an excellent location at a bargain price. Highly recommend.

Many wall receptacles for charging mobile devices at the ssme time are great. Room is too small and a only small desk is occupied by a TV. If the hotel can put the TV on the wall, the small desk can be saved to act like a desk. The breakfast was ok but not great.

Great hotel but cheap on milk

What I liked:
(1) Within a radius of three-minute walk from the hotel, there are two 7-11 shops, one POYA shop, three banks, one subway station, one night market and one car rental company!

(2) Free, underground car parking

(3) Sound proof room. We heard absolutely nothing in the room despite of the fact that our windows are facing out to a busy road.

(4) The coffee machine in the breakfast area is great. It takes in roasted coffee beans at the top and out comes distilled coffee at the spout.

What I disliked
(1) Fresh milk was out on the coffee machine in the breakfast area. At first, I thought that it just happened to be out at that time on that day so I asked a waitress to refill the coffee machine with it. To my disappointment and shock, she said that it was her boss’s idea to leave the milk out to save on cost!

Staff is very helpful. My flight arrived in the early morning but check-in time is at 3pm staff told me that I can wait at Business centre and take a shower using the fitness’s bathroom. The location is very close to MRT Songshan only a few minutes walk. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Good room facilities and convenient location, a short walk to Songshan MRT and quick ride on metro to Taipei CBD.We stayed for 2 separate days and the bathroom door in the room of our second stay was broken and couldn't close. The breakfast wasn't great with little choice. The staff could've been more enthusiastic. But overall it's not bad value.

Nice hotel in a very popular location. Staff are super helpful and the hotel is in a very convenient location.
I only have a one compliant not toward to hotel but about the level of the hotel guests. It is a non smoking hotel but several days the room smell major cigarste smokes. I understand it is not hotel’s fault but they need to find a way to raise the standard of the guests it reenfirce the non smoking policy.

Worst hotel in the whole of Taipei

Horrible attitude from hotel staff in this hotel. Very unfriendly and arrogant. Firstly, my family consist of 2 elderly, 4 adults including myself, and 1 four years old child. We had 6 luggage and 3 hand carry and 1 stroller. We arrived at this hotel front glass door that was not automatic, and it was raining. The staff didn't bother to open the doors for us and I had to struggle to open the door myself until a guest saw me struggling to open the door help me with it. Upon checking in, the staff spoke to us in a very unfriendly tone and I thought people in Taiwan are generally nice, but this hotel staff are exceptionally rude. Very unpleasant stay, hotel staff gave very unhappy faces and make you really uncomfortable to stay there. First and last stay with Capital hotel and highly recommended to never stay or try this hotel. Please. Don't waste your money here and unless you want to look at hotel staff that will spoil your day anytime. Breakfast buffet was rubbish and really disgusting. The variety is little, and the food are not kept warm, they are cooked and placed in different trays. EVERYTHING about this hotel is bad, just don't waste your time and money here.

The A/C unit in the room was not working properly and the room was very warm and stuffy on the first night. Had the maintenance staff to check this and was told this was normal as the hotel was full.
The front desk managed to book us into another hotel (same chain) 5 mins away which had working A/C!
