This hotel is located near the Old Town of Nice and also the port. If you go towards town, it can get pretty busy. It can also get loud at night, especially if you get a room on the first floor, like we did. Lots of partying until late at night. But the views from our balcony were beautiful. Great place to watch the sunset.
We walked to Colline du Château, which has panoramic views of the city. Definitely worth the hike. We also walked around the port area and ate lunch there, which was much less crowded and more relaxing for us.
The hotel does not have a pool and we regret not staying somewhere with one, since the beach can get packed in the summer. The bar is also very, very small and service was sporadic. The front desk did help us get a car service to go to Cannes and back, which was nice.
All in all, the location is great, but for a 4-star hotel, we were expecting a bit more. However, if you like to party and don't mind the noise at night and lack of a pool, this may be the perfect place for you. :)

My wife and I just spent 4 days at Hotel Suisse for our anniversary.

Room was nice and the view was amazing.
Had to ask for an ironing board and a fan but the front desk was very helpful with both.

The hotel was a great location in old Nice. The room had an amazing view of the sea. The bed was a little firm and didn’t care for the shower head at all. If you didn’t hold it water came out on the floor. Hard to shampoo your hair with two hands. The room was quiet with the windows closed. The buffet breakfast was ok. Not hot and never changed do 6 days of the same thing got a little old.

Could not have been in a better location with a great view of the ocean and promenade! Balcony was very large and perfect for watching the sunrise/sunset. Only downside was that the walls were pretty thin so could hear neighbors easily, but the other aspects made up for it.

Best for people who appreciate a boutique hotel in the south of France, not necessarily a Marriott or Hilton big-brand experience.

Disappointing Stay – Not Recommended if You Have a Car

We stayed for 2 nights, and the experience was disappointing. The room was extremely small for two people—barely enough space to open two small carry-on suitcases at the same time.

One major issue was the parking. The listing on Expedia made it seem like the hotel had its own parking, but that wasn’t the case. We had to find a parking garage about 600–700 meters away, which was a real hassle, especially with luggage. We wasted time searching for parking and then had to walk quite a bit to the hotel.

I brought this up with the front desk, and instead of being helpful, the receptionist was rude. She told us we should have called in advance or temporarily parked in front of the hotel to ask—but that wasn’t even an option. The street in front is a crowded, single-lane road where stopping is not feasible. As foreigners, calling ahead wasn’t practical for us either.

Overall, we paid $600 per night for a tiny 110-square-foot space, inconvenient parking, and unhelpful staff. It felt like a tourist trap. If we had known there was no parking, we would not have booked here.

Definitely not recommended if you’re driving.

The property is relatively expensive. Indeed, we choose a fifth floor room and the view is astonishing. However, for a trip where you walk and go out a lot, I would say the view doesn't matter that much since you won't even stay in the room for long. Besides, the hotel is a bit old -- the bathtub sink look a bit old and scary. I would say it's standard for old hotels but given the price, I would recommend people shop around and see if there're better ones. I give a 4-star because I feel it's fair for a hotel in Nice (probably most hotels are relatively old and expensive given the limited supply).

Lovely location and so easy to walk to the old town or the port. Staff were lovely and super friendly, literally couldn’t do enough for you.

Rooms are comfortable but if you get a privilege room the views across Nice are amazing. You can sit with a glass or wine or two and enjoy the view.

Easy access to transport links should you want to visit further afield.

Breakfast was great and the staff were incredible.

Special mention to Victor, he was super nice and friendly and super helpful.

A 10 minute walk from the main Florence train station and a 2 minute walk from Duomo. Gated access with an elevator. The included breakfast was wonderful and the staff were flat out awesome. We had a 4 occupancy room for the two of us and it was way, way more space than anticipated.

This was a well appointed boutique hotel in a fantastic location. We had a beautiful room with a view, an excellent hot and cold breakfast each morning, and enjoyed our time. The elevator is very small so we often took the stairs. The balcony was lovely and great for watching the sea and the hustle and bustle of all the people but it was too narrow for furniture we couldn’t sit out there. Everything was great and the staff were very friendly. We took advantage of using towels for the beach and also the reduced rate to use the beach club at L’Opera Plage.

The air conditioning in my room didn’t work properly and it was in the high 90’s. They said they were sold out and couldn’t move me. I didn’t believe them because we hardly saw anyone in the hotel.
They did give me a little credit back but not enough for what I paid a night.

The most beautiful location in Nice, with exquisite ocean views. Just below the castle, in walking distance to old town and numerous beach clubs. Rooms are small but cool in the summer and well appointed. The breakfast buffet is perfect (open from 7:30 to 11:30 which allows teenagers to sleep in!) and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. It’s right on the Boulevard des Anglais so it’s a bit noisy at night, and there’s no pool, but it was still one of my favorite hotels ever. I was so sad to leave.

The best location! We enjoyed the view so much and the possibility to go to the beach in one minute. The restaurants in the Old Town and Massena shopping is so close. Everything within walking distance. There is always a question of price. But we feel that taking into account it was a high season and Nice was full of people it was a fair amount what we paid and what we received.

Hotel Suisse is a 2-star hotel in a 5-star location. The views from the balconies, if you are able to afford them, are spectacular. But there is nothing grand about the hotel. The one elevator fits two persons at a time. The rooms are petite; there are few amenities. It is more like an Italian \"pensione\" than a 4-star hotel. Nothing other than the view justifies the very high daily room rate.

Nice hotel in Nice.

Stayed in the suite for 4 nights. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The view from the suite balcony of the Promenade is excellent. The bed was comfortable, although the square pillows are a bit awkward.

The bathroom has a corner bath with shower head above the bath.

Breakfast was a relatively simple buffet of hot and cold options, fresh pastries, freshly squeezed orange - all very enjoyable.

Worth mentioning that, as with other hotels located in older buildings, it only has one small lift. We did not find that a particular problem, but worth giving yourself a bit of extra time when checking out at peak times.

The location is great for sightseeing as it’s just a couple of minutes walk from the old town.

Finally, have to mention the staff who were all very friendly and efficient.

I loved the view from the balcony. I went to bed with the curtains open bc the view of the harbor lights is incredible. I love the location. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful. But water is not provided and it was 10 euros for a small bottle from the fridge. The bath tub was a nice size but slippery. The removable shower head was loose and it was splashing all over. I had to use towels to dry the floor. The bed was comfortable.

We would highly recommend this hotel. We had a nice size Privilege Room with a Sea View and small balcony. Our room was very nicely equipped with an espresso maker, comfortable bed, slippers and robes. It is in an excellent location on the sea near old town. The service was excellent from all staff. We will be back some day!

My wife and I have stayed here several times and enjoy coming back. Situated on the edge of the bay and in close proximity to the port, it is a wonderful place to have a few days away. Our room with a balcony was spacious and clean while the view of Nice is superb. Staff are polite and helpful.

The hotel was perfect in every aspect. The staff was very nice, always helpful and always on duty. The view was spectacular overlooking the Bay of Angels. It was situated on Castel Hill and was accessible to both old town and the harbor in just minutes of walking. It was across the street from the iconic I LOVE NICE sign. Our room was so clean and bright. Cleaning service every day. Block-out drapes were fantastic for sleeping in. Beds very comfortable, linens and comforters best quality. Bathroom shower had great pressure. Nice big towels and bathrobes. Room temperature was perfect. Especially nice in the room was the coffee maker and pot for tea that was primed every morning - including cookies. There were a few steps going from the street to the lobby area but the staff carried our luggage up for us. Elevator in lobby. I absolutely loved this hotel. I cannot find anything negative to say. It rates 10 stars in my opinion.

The Hotel Suisse is perfectly located, right on the seafront in Nice. We had a balcony room and could see the sea from bed! It was clean, staff were really helpful. We left our luggage all day (arrived early but no problem leaving bags before checking in at 3pm). I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a modern, clean and fabulously located hotel.

We absolutely loved our stay! The breakfast was so good each morning and we loved eating it on our balcony with the beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea. I highly recommend getting a room with a sea view, you will not regret it. In addition, it is so walkable to old town and many restaurants and shops. Highly recommend!

By far the best thing about the property is the view of the Promenade. I was on the second floor and had a fantastic balcony to sit and people watch and see the views. My room was on the small side but well appointed with a bath and shower combo, which i like. The staff were very helpful. This is a small hotel but worth the splurge for the view. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Location is excelllent between old port and the main promenade, views great, lots of light, most of the staff very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast OK/fine. The hotel is rather tired, the room is small (fair enough) and the shower over bath seemed poorly designed. Traffic noise (and actually pollution) significant so couldn't sleep with windows open. If you get the airport tram to the old port its a 15min hike. I imagine when James Joyce stayed 101 years ago it was just perfect.
