The check in process was so impossible. I had messaged this property both through email and Expedia a week in advance and they never replied. To check in you have to call an AI that kept hanging up on me and calling me “sir madam”. It took hours to try to get check in figured out. The ways they wanted me to pay also felt suspicious and I had to check with Expedia customer support to make sure I wasn’t getting scammed. Room itself was great so it’s a bummer that check in was such a big headache that no room is worth.

Great location. Clean, quiet, warm. Lovely neighborhood, except for major road work going on in front. There was some confusion in getting the door code, until we were standing at the door. No receptionist.

Terrible room. When we arrived, the room hadn’t been made. There was pee on the floor, I flushed toilet, dirty food and cutlery left behind, rubbish on the floor. It was very difficult to contact anyone, as the contact number was AI automated phone line. Finally, a lady came to clean at 8pm on the day, and did a very poor job. Took dirty towels and didn’t replace them, didn’t wash up properly (mugs had still stains), no toilet paper. The bed wasn’t made, the pee stains left, and we had to clean. There’s no soap to clean up, coffee machine and no coffee. Honestly, this place ruined our holiday. DO NOT book. Expedia didn’t really help! They do a part refund and left us to it. Will not book with Expedia again.

Nice, clean apartment, perfect location for sightseeing, but needs few upgrades - door seems like anybody could kick them open - I was with my family, but if I traveled alone I’d be scared to fall asleep at night as it was more like hostel set up (multiple rooms within one flat with no staff member in the reception) and you never know who are your neighbors. There were security cameras however. Could use a new floor and chairs, maybe some shelves in the kitchen. Bathroom was new, well lit, and comfy. Parking was ok - parking apps for Krakow made it more convenient. We had an University view which we loved, but if you like your windows open at night it gets noisy due to trams and passing cars. Quiet with closed windows however as they are good quality. Definitely would stay again.

This property was not as advertised. It is not on the second floor, even by Polish counting. It is up a full 5 flights of stairs. Before the visit communication was bad. There is no staff regularly on site. The air conditioning was one small unit in the bedroom (we had two rooms), and it emitted a very loud, high pitched noise the entire time it was on. The outside of the building is completely run down and it’s hard to find the front door—there’s no sign. Overall, not great.

Nice room in good location with modern bathroom.
However, we had no aircon remote control and therefore no aircon. There is no fridge in the room. And they claim to have “24/7 front desk support” but this is all AI. Everything has to be done by calling the hotel number and dealing with AI. Checking in? AI
Problem? AI
There is a desk only for show in the lobby as you would need to be 10cm thin to sit in the chair and no one is ever there.

Lovely apartment with 2 bedrooms.
There is no table in the kitchen area but we did not really need one - each room has a desk.

The tram passes by and you can hear it from the flat but that did not bother me at all.

Super close to the city centre - loved the self-check in instructions.

Great location but what let it down was the paper thin walls between wall which doesn’t help when you have a disrespectful guest staying next to you who watches the TV at high volume until 01:00am.
Another deal breaker was the tram noise/vibrations until around midnight

A beautifully clean apartment and very comfortable. We could have done with a couple of extra pillows but didn’t see anyone to ask. Had everything we needed.
However, the door to the bathroom didn’t open as far as it should as it stuck on the floor. The WiFi was only good in the morning and the socket beside the bed didn’t work!
A great location, only a short walk to the Old Town.

Our stay was very disappointing. It is very confusing getting into the building when you first arrive to check in. The hallway / stairs on the way up to the 3rd floor in which the apartments are on smells awful. We’ve had every day minus 1 where our door wouldn’t lock ( it was on an automated system not a normal door key) . This was worrying as we were out most of the days on planned trips. We had to call up the reception number every day to get them to fix it for us through an app on their phone. There were quite a few signs of wear in the apartment , however it was very modern and generally clean. The balcony is a nice touch however it is shared with 2 more apartments which you can walk across which is a little bit scary at night. All in all we enjoyed our stay in krakow because we love the city and it was close to the main square . However we will not be returning to these apartments. There are much nicer apartments close by and even next door which we have stayed in before.

Nice two room apartment

Good location, tram station just round the corner. Was a nice two room apartment with kitchen area.
Few issues getting into building as was self-check-in and hotels.com caused issues with the lack of information on when to expect details.
Only other issue was TV in bedroom was internet only and the WiFi didn’t reach that room a lot of the time.

Nice, once you can check in...

I arrived 5 minutes after the staffed check-in time of 5pm, but I don't think it'd matter, I didn't see anyone at their reception my entire stay. If you're unlucky enough to miss reception, like I was, you'll need to call to a local Krakow number to get instructions over the phone. I'm not sure how this would work if you don't speak either Polish or English. The street it is on has a fair bit of noise, their phone lines are terrible, and it is incredibly difficult to hear/understand their directions. All of the instructions given could have been provided via email ahead of arrival and reduced the stress of check-in by an order of magnitude. I would hate to attempt check in late in the evening.

I saw another review complains about the floor boards and thought they might be exaggerating... Nope. Not only do you hear your every step but anyone in a nearby rooms, too.

All of that said; it's a very convenient location, well priced, with nice facilities in the room (desk, air-conditioning, clothes racks, etc). There's near by cheap places to eat breakfast as well as all your usual tourist attractions.

Everything was lovely and clean, the shower pressure is amazing, it is conveniently located so close to Old Town with transport close by and we even had a balcony. You didn’t really see any staff but it was all safe. My only negatives would be 1. So many stairs, 2. The pillows are short instead of long but I don’t know if this is a polish thing, 3. If you are a light sleeper you can hear the trams going by outside throughout the night. My suggestion would be to get a table and chairs for the balcony but honestly it was a great stay and would definitely stay again!

If you are looking for hotel like accommodations, this is not the place for you. This was more like a flat/apartment. We did not see the reception personnel once. We tried calling using the phone they had in the “lobby” and it would not connect. We did not have any coffee pods for day 2 and fortunately we saw a housekeeper and were able to get some. The pillows were horrible. It had no elevator, which we knew would be the case, but it was a challenge getting our luggage up since we had to go up five flights of stairs. They mentioned there was a continental breakfast but we could not find it. Overall, we were disappointed and expected much more. Now, as far as location goes, this place was great. Very close to everything. We walked nearly everywhere.

Excellent location, really close to the old town. Self-check in was easy. It was rather loud in the apartament due to tram tracks right outside of our windows but I believe that is the cost of staying in the city centre. Decent Smart TV was a nice touch. Comfortable bathroom and kitchenette.
My only complaint would be that at the time of booking I wasn’t aware that they will want to pre-approve the payment a week before our arrival, especially with free cancellation as our chosen option (and before our time to cancel the booking has passed). I could not find that information in any of the confirmation emails I received after booking or in the place’s policies. The way it was worded when I was booking the apartments I was led to believe that I will pay at the check in. Only found out about the need for pre-approved payment when they couldn’t secure money from my account and I received an email that if it is not resolved I will loose my reservation (at that point the same rooms were at twice the price of my booking). That caused some stressful moments but thankfully was resolved easily. I understand that the physical reception was closed due to covid-19 but I think information about pre-approved payment should be made clear to customers at the time of booking.
Overall I would definitely recommend this place if you’re staying in Krakow for couple of days.

We had to leave the hotel after Poland was put on lockdown due to coronavirus, the staff were more than happy to assist us in instructions on how to leave the country. All this aside, we were in love with the place almost instantly, we felt right at home, rooms were spacious to stay they were small rooms and could not fault them in any way. Clean and lots of personal touches added to the rooms, we will be returning later on in the year to this exact accommodation once again as we could not imagine staying anywhere else, great location!!

Immaculately clean, attention to details, fantastic location just outside of Old Town. Everything within walking distance. Front desk extremely helpful and nice when we had questions about the surrounding area. Compact space with plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Bed was comfortable, I wasn't a fan of the pillows, my wife didn't mind them (personal preferences).
Construction on the exterior of the building right by our window was the only thing keeping me from giving this place a perfect score. We were instructed to not turn on the A/C due to the construction, and it was quite warm in the small room while my wife was blow drying and flat ironing her hair (and to be fair, I think it was a bit warmer than usual for this time of year here). We did open the windows, but they were soon taped shut so we could not open them any more. Construction begins at 7am, which put any ideas of sleeping in \"to rest.\" No construction on the weekend. For those light sleepers, like myself, the local train runs all night and our room fronted the road in which the train ran, though less often after midnight. Earplugs were provided (one of the many \"attention to details.\"), which don't do me any good Overall a fantastic stay, I just could've done with less noise as I am a VERY light sleeper.

Although we knew there was no elevator it should be made clearer that the hotel rooms are only on the top two floors. We climbed 72 stairs several times each day. Unfortunately the city decided to work on the tram tracts outside our side of the building each night we were there. The noise was deafening and we were awake all night for both nights. The room was lovely and the staff very courteous but the experience was not positive.

Pros: Good location. All main attractions within walking distance. Good size room. Kitchen area and daily maid service. Modern clean bathroom. Air conditioning unit.
Cons: Our room was next to main road, and trams run all night, you literally feel the building vibrate as they pass, hence not suitable for light sleepers. No lift and unsuitable for any person who struggles with stairs, especially when carrying luggage. Television did not work, informed reception but they did not resolve. No maid service on last day of stay, had to ask reception for clean towels, luckily caught them before they close reception at 5pm. Wood block flooring in room was all loose underfoot and squeaking when walked on, however clean so not really an issue.

We had a very nice stay at Novum House in the 1 bed suite.
Unfortunately the stove was in the process of being replaced which reduced the in room facilities.
In terms of floor space, I'm unclear if this is much larger than the studio rooms (simply from looking at pictures).
The bathroom was lovely, with plenty of in-room amenities such as hairdryer, shampoo, shaving kit.
Check-in from 2pm and the reception very kindly held our bags for an hour until we could access our room.
Check-out from 12pm (or late check-out 4pm) and again very kindly held bags until reception closed at 6pm.
We found the bedroom a little disappointing; very narrow space around the bed, very hard mattress & curtains that covered the radiator and prevented the room warming up. This wouldn't deter a stay, however I would recommend a change of curtains as we ended up folding these up as it was impossible to sleep in the cold room otherwise.

Novum house review.

Really good place location wise. The castle is only a few hundred metres in one directions, the main square is less than 500 meters and the barbican is about the same distance as the castle in the opposite direction. Lots of cheap restraunts nearby. Main downside is the 80 + steps to the reception. Not really suitable for anyone who is not able to climb stairs. There's no tea making facility in the room, only a kitchenette shared with all the other guests. Overall had an excellent stay.

Hard to beat location but the hotel is on the second floor and does not offer a lift so it is a long trip up with luggage. The rooms are quiet and roomy however they are quickly becoming dated and the ikea furniture is not standing up well to years of use. (I was here in 2015 and it was in mint condition. I gave it a 5 out of 5 then).

We were made very welcome and they we happy to check us in earlywhich was brill. Staff could not have been more helpful. Place was spotless and there were flowers in our rooms. Perhaps it should be noted that there are alot of stairs to climb before you get to reception and no lift which was no problem to us. Also there is a kitchen to use but no kettle on your room but again no problem as coffee, tea and milk are provided. A great location , just a few minutes from the centre of old town of Krakow. Staff were great in recommending cafes.Brilliant few days.

You will not be impressed by its rundown entrance and 72 steps you have to climb to get to the rooms. However, I give this accommodation 9 out of 10 for its cleanness and stylish rooms/studios. Staffs were very welcoming and helpful. Within 5 minute walk to the main square, definitely is a value for money. Only warning: NOT suitable for elderly and disable travellers because of the stairs.

Nothing Fancy, but the room worked!

We literally arrived late, 10-11pm'ish, and were checking out at 7am. There wasn't anyone at the desk that late, and we rang the bell and no one was answering, when the gentleman that was checking us in arrived home and let us in.

The room was clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but we didn't need fancy, we needed sleep.

Our room was pre-paid so there was no issue with us just leaving the key and going on our way in the morning. If you want fancy and a 24-hour manned desk, this is not the place for you. If not, you should be fine.

We actually were being picked up by a driver in the morning to go to Auschwitz, so I cannot talk to the neighborhood and what is close by.

From outside the wife wasn't sure as with many places in krackow but was pleasantly surprised once inside the place is spotless ,staff lovely friendly helpful ,there's a book telling local attractions and food places . Main Square is about 3 minutes walk if you turn left river is 5 to 10 minutes walk if you go right . Bud krackow hop on off bus tour £10 each for 24hour bargain . Make sure you go to the mound on it too as it's beautiful and there's a cafe/bar at top really good food and cheap . We used airport transfer that hotel arrange for £20 leather seat Mercedes van and bottle of water was a nice touch ,driver told us some places to visit he was lovely. Got train back which was also easy and about £1.50 each took 15 minutes and was easy 5 minutes walk from main square. Thankyou Novum for our great stay we will definitely be coming back with our kids soon xx

Very Nice Rooms and great amenities.

This is a shared building with tenants/owners. Front entrance is very poor and hotel is accessed up 5 levels of stairs. We assumed hotel was on first floor by description and being fit older people (70yrs) thought it was no problem, But 5 levels of stairs with luggage and no lifts was a problem. However on entering the hotel it was far better than expected. We have stayed in 5 star places with rooms with less amenities. Great for younger people but anyone with health problems not good. Staff brilliant, cannot help enough, cleanliness impeccable, facilities in house excellent.

A great option

I stayed at their apt accommodation. Its off site from their main location and it made all the difference. It always felt like my own apt and not a hotel. Its located a block or two from the main square (where many tours leave from). There are a ton of restaurants, shops, and grocery stores near by. The room was clean and well maintained and the friendly staff were just a phone call away to help me with any questions or needs that I had.

I have learned that any hotel that demands full payment before your arrival...is hiding something bad! And this one sure did have bad stuff to hide. A jewel in the rough

Don't let the older building fool you because inside awaits this jewel of a place. The Novum House‏ appears to be a brand new place tucked away in an older brick building. Once inside you will be pleasantly surprised at how modern and clean the place is. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Do know that there are 3 flights of stairs, so be prepared to get a workout with your luggage, but well worth the hike! The room was updated, clean, and very nicely decorated. There is no onsite parking, but plenty of street parking available for a fee M-F, and free on the weekends. The place is located a short walking distance from the city square.

Absolutely fantastic apartment, great staff on the reception desk, room very big with kitchen to enable you to do your own thing. Across the street from a university and close to the old town, 3 minutes to market square in one direction and 5 minutes to the palace in the other. The only down side was our room was on the tram line side of the building. Would go to sleep hearing the trams and first thing in the morning early you would hear the trams. In saying that though the apartment was really good.

If was very small and just okay. They made it look nice though but the air conditioning wouldn't work and the beds weren't that comfortable. The floor was so squeaky! The location was alright I guess. Overall, not bad.. but I'd never been to Poland before so I don't really have anything else to compare it to.

Ideal location. Great staff.

Ideal location. No need for a car. You can walk everywhere from there. The Rynek (center square) is 5-10 minutes away. Wawel the same. Kazimiesz about 15 minutes walk. The tram is just outside and you can take it as well It runs until about 11 pm and is at times noisy until then. Other than that it is very quiet there. More than enough within walking distance to keep you busy for a week. Staff is there from 8am to 8 pm. They are very friendly and helpful.

Great location, close to main square. Spotlessly clean, modern room. Very friendly & helpful staff. Only 10 minutes walk from main bus route from airport. Excellent breakfast delivered to room if required. Up a couple of flights of stairs - so possibly not suitable for elderly.

Worth twice the rate!

I speak no Polish, so having concierge service that speak English well was most helpful. I would pay double for the room I got, as it was spacious, ultra-modern and very comfortable. The only caveat are the steps required to reach the rooms. If not for that, I would pay more than double. Fabulous hotel!

Great location, no elevator.

Room size is average for hotel room. Very nice bathroom. EXCELLENT ACCOMMODATING STAFF. But no elevator. It's practically on the Fourth Floor with No elevator. So be mindful especially for those that have asthma and elderly. Overall a great experience and can't say enough about management and staff.

Attractive apartment in a great location

We stayed 2 nights in the apartment in Tomasza St. It's a light, spacious and modern apartment very comfortable for 2 people. We enjoyed having access to it to take short breaks between tourist activities. Eating options are plentiful. Petite France, just along the road, was an excellent breakfast option, while Pieliolinia Smakow, around the corner, was good quality for other meals.

Modern and clean rooms

The outside entrance could be a little deceiving but these rooms/apartments are so lovely, bright, modern and clean with fresh towels and nice toiletries provided. The apartment has a neat little kitchen and sofa so we could meet and relax there before heading out. Otherwise there is a shared kitchen for those with just a room. The staff were really friendly and helpful with bus timetables and recommending restaurants, all of which we tried and all of which were brilliant. Loved this stay here

Not a hotel. Loud. Former apartment divided up.

This is not a hotel but a large apartment in an old unattractive bldg that simply created some extra bedrooms by putting in doors and WCs in each room, for instance what used to be the living room etc. All rooms I saw are attached to the small reception area and thus guests can hear all telephone calls and conversations with any guests etc at the reception. They need to install some type of sound barrier around each room door and the walls to prevent this. No breakfast provided although they did have 2 or 3 old apples and 1 old kiwi in the \"kitchen\"

I booked my stay at Novum House via the Hotels.com site and from my reservation it was not clear that my apartment was actually at a different address and that there is not 24hr check in. Luckily I was with two colleagues that could phone and find the right place.
However, the apartment was very neat and comfortable with excellent location.

Excellent accommodation in Kraków!

We stayed at 4 Walls by Novum House. This was our 4th time in Kraków and our second stay with Novum. The apartment was fantastic. It was roomy and bright with a great view onto a small courtyard. Looking out the window and to the right you can see the towers of St. Mary's Basilica and hear the trumpeter! The location of 4 Walls on Świętego Tomasza is excellent. A one minute walk to Rynek Główny (main square) and the Cloth Hall.
There was even a tablet to use which came in really handy for looking at resturants etc.

100% advise this hotel

me and my friend stayed in the Novum House for 4 nights from the 9th till the 13th of February from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were very warmly welcomed and would most definitely come back and stay with them again!!
we was also lucky enough to have a spectacular view of the castle to our left and straight in front having the university and beautiful gardened area across the road, even though we was next to a rather busy road we heard next to no traffic on a night time

the Novum House is like a hidden gem, looking on the outside exterior of the building it doesn't look much and after a mammoth climb up rather quite a lot of stairs we was welcomed to a very fresh and extremely clean and modern looking set of apartments!

we both highly recommend the Novum House to anyone visiting Krakow in the future!!

Great hotel (though not the best with children)

We were very happy with our stay at Novum House. The location is wonderful, super central but be aware there is no elevator (and we had a pram for our child and the apartment is on the second floor) It wasn't a problem for us but it's a tough workout going up and down with it!

We had a two bed suite and it was great for the children. The floors are the original floors and look beautiful but are super noisy if your children sleep lightly. The rooms are not very sound proof at all too so I felt sorry for neighbouring rooms with our kids getting up super early.

The kitchen had everything we needed but I'm not sure what you would do if you want to cook. There is a 2 ring hob but no saucepans to use. Strange! It's got a fab cafe around the corner that is open at 7am for a great breakfast too. Note for the hotel: The bottle for drinking water needs to be washed better, it looked like it had been refilled without ever being washed and was dirty! We bought water from the local supermarket so had no issues.

All in all we were happy with the Hotel and would return. Krakow is fabulous!

Excellent location on the edge of the old town only 5 minutes walk from the main square. Close to public transport links. The apartment comprises seven ensuite rooms of different sizes with shared kitchen facilites. It is on the second floor of a block and there is no lift so not really suitable for a person with limited mobility.
We had let staff know that we would be arriving in the evening. However, our flight was diverted to another airport due to fog and we did not reach the apartment until after midnight. Nevertheless a member of staff was on hand to let us in and settle us in. Staff helped with booking a taxi and gave advice on public transport.

Got the studio room, very clean, nicely furnished. Location is about a 5 minute walk from the main square. Close to trams etc if you need to head out of town. Rather than getting the bus all the way to the train station (which is 15-20 minutes walk) you can get off near the cracovia stadium which is 5 minutes away.

Nice place to stay

The mini studio was clean and pretty new. Nice bathroom, kitchen area and room. 5 minutes away from the main square. The tram #2 goes directly to the main train station in about 10 minutes. You can also walk! The airport is not far too, a cab down the street took us for 30 zloty and maybe 20 minutes. The only thing you should consider it's situated on the 4th floor with no elevator but it's not that bad. The staff was nice, we enjoy our stay.

Modern interior, noisy location, tiny room

The interior of the hotel/apartment was modern and beautifully decorated. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. However, the room was tiny and not cleaned daily. In addition you have to use a communal kitchen to make coffee/tea. Instant coffee is free of charge but pod/filter coffee incurs an additional fee. If your room faces the road, it is exceptionally noisy and you have to close your window to get some sleep. The building vibrates whenever a tram passes by.

Great hotel & wonderful location

This modern hotel with its own kitchen facilities was wonderful to stay in. Situated just on the edge of the Old Town it was easy to walk everywhere. If you're a light sleeper the tram might disturb you at night but it really wasn't a problem for us. I'd definitely recommend Novum House as a lovely place to stay.

Clean room, good location

We chose this as the location is literally across from the planty and was only a 5 minute walk to the market square. The lack of a lift is a minor inconvenience after being out all day, and coming back very tired. There wasn't always anyone on the front desk during the day, but I think we were the only guests there for most of our stay so that could explain it. The staff were very helpful however and gave us advice and booked us taxis. A few bars close by and right on the tram line. We had the choice of a street facing room or a quieter courtyard room. We chose the courtyard room, it wasn't the most pleasant courtyard to say the least but was very quiet! Our room was right next to the small shared kitchen, which meant kitchen noises at 0730 when the staff prepared breakfast, worth considering if like me you're a light sleeper like me. Overall a great location, building looks a little worn from the outside but nice and modern apartments.

Great find in Krakow if you are traveling with more than two. It is small, efficient and intimate. The drive up appeal is not pleasing, however. You have to climb two major flights of stairs which is in a residential apartment building. The room (apartment) was very clean and comfortable. They clean the rooms every other day. It was a pleasant stay; however, I recommend it for someone that is staying in Krakow longer than two nights. Since they are so small, they do not have front desk staff available after 6 or 8 o'clock p.m. They did have a driver for us for our early flight. It was difficult getting down the stairway, however, and we had to use flashlights at that early hour.

Good location, nice room and pleasant staff. Apartments are on the second floor with no lift. The 70 steps to the apartment (5 flights) make the apartment hard to recommend. However, if the stairs are not an issue, good accomodation with nice breakfast.

Modern Apartment

Although the Novum House apartments were in a slightly run down building the actual apartments located on the 3rd floor were very tastefully refurbished and decorated. I would defintley stay there again.
