Room was spotless, the bed was comfortable to sleep in, the staff were helpful and had great customer service, i believe breakfast is included however we didn’t want to try any as we don’t like eating in the morning🙈The hotel itself was very clean and was very easy to find, only thing that is a pain is the £50 deposit takes quite a few days to go back into your account, overall it was a very pleasant stay and i would recommend!!

Room was in good condition. One of the bed side lights was hanging off. Bathroom clean and great pressure from the shower, with a large walk in shower facility.
Breakfast is excellent!!!!
There was only one member of staff on for our check in, no staff at the bar. She was great but was doing too much.

The room was terrible. Felt and looked dirty. wallpapernwas hanging off walls. oner curtain holder was moldy andnthe other missing so light in the morning shing through. Red stains all up the bathrooms mirror ( god knows!). Bedside drawer was facing bed so unable to open. All very out of date and desperate for upgrade. only stayed beciase we woyld he out fir kost of the night and just needed a bed. They have took £50.00 Deposit which we are still waiting for nearly a week later. Avoid at all costs.

The hotel was so rundown we did not stay. Had to pay a 50 pounds deposit which we were ttold would take 30days to refund. My wife was so upset we had to find an alternative hotel. I spent a further 300 pounds. The hotel is nothing like the description. Will not be using this site again.

Pros: polite staff, breakfast included, 10-min drive to central Liverpool, warm rooms, parking included and generally a good option for a one-night budget stay.
Cons: wouldn’t want to stay longer than just for the night, deposit on arrival is a pain, no hot breakfast food, and the shower plug hole was backing up with water.

The pillows were very soft and there weren't enough of them. The shower didn't work, and when it did, the pressure was very weak; the water would stop flowing and then come back on a little after five minutes. The bathtub was very slippery; my partner slipped on it. There were two pointless shower screens, and you had to hold one of them to keep it from moving. It wasn't very clean either. The heating was set too high and you couldn't adjust it. They have free parking, but it's very small, and you have to park your car on the road. I would not come back there.

Had a lovely stay at the Mountford. Great transport links to Liverpool city centre. Really warm and friendly reception on arrival. Cleanliness and comfort were fantastic. Room decor a bit dated but fantastic common rooms and would absolutely rebook in the future. Great value for money compared to other hotels too.

Manager didn't smile, ask about our journey, or indeed anything resembling a welcome. The room was cold and had to ask to put on the heating. The bath doesn't have a plug and never will have, because we were told that guests drain all the hot water! As the shower us an over bath shower, it is very awkward to use and imo should be replaced with a stand alone shower. The lights in room are very dim with low wattage bulbs and therefore very difficult to read. Other than that everything was fine!

After being welcomed and booked in, we were shown our large, clean and warm room.

The hotel was a very lovely building, the staff were extremely helpful and polite, especially George, who made us feel very welcomed and at home during our stay.

The breakfast would have benefited from a few more warm options to eat, but this was already communicated to us before we booked.

Overall, our stay was such a great experience and we have already made plans to book a room, next year.

Nice big rooms, comfortable beds and the whole hotel is spotless. They do a continental breakfast which is great. Parking on sight or very safe on the street outside.

The hotel was just okay, although the pillows were small and thin and the duvet was thin also. The room was a good size with most essentials, but the main window would not shut and, thanks to high winds, it rattled all night long so I barely slept. The breakfast was just okay, although the tea and coffee not good. The free parking consists of about 8 spaces, which go very quickly if there are more than a few people staying. We ended up parking on the street even though we got there not long after the start of the check in time.

A hotel that has seen better days

The hotel itself has seen better days. It was quite rundown. The reception staff were very welcoming and informative. We stayed in room 10, which upon entry had a damp, musty smell. The bed was clean and comfortable. The room had peeling wallpaper, areas where mould was growing. The bathroom ceiling and around the door frame had black mould on it. The bar area of the hotel served a good selection of drinks at a reasonable price. The armchairs in the bar were stained and worn. The continental breakfast was as minimal as one could get. One choice of coffee or tea, just basic white or brown sliced bread, basic cereals, flat croissants and pain au chocolats, dry waffles, one flavour choice of yoghurt, poor quality tinned fruit. I could go on. There was parking for 6 cars on the hotel premises but plenty of free on street parking nearby. The hotel is closed to two parks and a short walk to shops.

I have never had to show my passport in a British hotel before. I have never had to leave a £50 holding fee. Both of these issues meant I was scared to death to touch anything, use anything in the bathroom or speak to anyone about anything.
We were shown to the wrong room.
The hoops on the curtains rail came off when I tried to close the curtains, which were stuck and I called reception to explain and say that ot wasn't my fault.
There was no plug in the bath and I asked for one. I was told that because people filled the bath without putting the plug in and ran the water out and made the water go cold, they removed all the plugs! (I can only imagine it happened on a regular basis or hordes of people did it to sabotage the hotel). However, why they thought that removing the plugs altogether to prevent people from filling the bath without the plug in was going to work, I have no idea! Insanity seems to rule!

Only a continental breakfast was provided, but it was reasonably cheap and was expected. However, the fruit bowls were breakfast bowls of tinned syruppy fruit with a teaspoon to serve it out!
We were also expected to clear up after ourselves - another thing I have never experienced in a hotel in UK before.

Thankfully we got our deposit back. This was hardly surprising as I actually cleaned the bathroom as we went along to avoid giving them any reason to charge us further.

Thinking back now I should have looked for cameras as I feel we were on a hidden camera show!

You get what you pay for. Upon check in we were early and the woman was amazing helpful and accommodating.

Room: large sunny good for all intents and purposes

Clean: bathmat moldy and disgusting but needed because the bath was slippery and small. Took out garbage and replaced towels but didn’t make bed or clean bathroom mirrors or replace used utensils

Service; seemed an inconvenience to provide ice for the room which we did not ask to be delivered but was at the in house bar. When we checked out and wanted to leave our luggage it seemed an inconvenience for the man there.

Breakfast; Go out for breakfast.

Overall the rooms are large (bonus) beds on wheels which is not great! But again. Cheap.

In my opinion any double bed and over should have at least 4 pillows. Mine in room 2 only had 2.I realise I probably could have asked but really shouldn’t have to. Bedside lights need fixing properly and the same with curtain tie backs.

Breakfast was very good
Having a superior room with the extra space was well worth the extra cost

All in all very happy with my stay and would use again

Lovely Hotel but a Few Tweaks would help!

Lovely hotel, would stay again. Some people would find it dated but not a problem for us. My issue was with the design of the room. No mirror in the bedroom or artwork and the lighting was poor. Room was small and difficult to move around in with the size of the furniture in there. Otherwise, had a great sleep and the room was importantly very clean.

Very convenient for a visit to family nearby. General areas are great. Breakfast was good. The room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. The room itself was a bit dark making it feel a bit dingey, but it was very comfortable and quiet. Would definitely stay here again.
The £50 deposit is a bit of a pain, especially when only staying 1 night, but i guess theres a reason they feel they need to take it.

Good location to get into Liverpool with free parking. We parked our car and took the bus or walked everywhere. Local area(Lark Lane) was close by with lots of restaurants for dinner.
Staff was friendly and bar on premises was great after a long drive and before dinner drink.
Room was ok. Furniture dominated the room and being on the ground floor damp and dark. Breakfast included was ok. Coffee terrible.

Having stayed in lots of hotels i have never been asked for passport or driving license in England my owners country. Went for a drink at the bar no one serving no one on reception. In the room the curtain didn't cover wind so at 4 30 am couldn't sleep with the sun shine .

This is a great budget friendly hotel which has a lot of character. Limited parking for the number of rooms. The mattress was far too soft and uneven, not enough pillows (I couldn’t be bothered asking for more but I am sure they would have given some), sink tap dropped all night and the shower hose leaked - needs some diy. Good location near to Parks.

Cons: was promised a bath on the phone but it had no plug, asked for a plug and it didn't hold water; single glazing window allowed all noise in; cheapest, most uncomfortable bedding we've ever used; no hot water on the last morning and no suggestion of compensation despite not being able to wash; breakfast woefully understocked despite being asked which timeslot we will be eating in.

The location was good with free parking and the staff helpful and friendly. Unfortunately I do have a few comments about the room which needs a bit of work. The single glazed sash windows were open a few inches at the top letting in all the traffic noise. The curtains were hanging off the rail, the blinds torn and frayed, the bathroom door didn’t close properly and had no lock and in places the wallpaper was peeling off. The place is tired and dated and needs modernising. I won’t be back and feel that the money I paid was too much for the room we were given.

Agreeable accommodation but rather tired …. curtains and blinds need replacing.
£50 deposit taken on credit card which is likely to take 30 days to be refunded felt unacceptable with no way of finding out whether deposit would be refunded prior to checkout.
Unusually the bed was on castors on a wooden floor which was rather dangerous on getting in or out of bed … and resulted in a trip across the room whilst trying to sit up to read!
The main concern was that we were unable to take a shower as water was only tepid, ran very slowly and was brownish.
Breakfast was good and ambience and atmosphere of the hotel was good so hopefully attention to sorting out the concerns will improve things.

It was ok, but not a great location.

Receptionist wasn’t very friendly. She didn’t know the area and had no map to show or hand out. She wasn’t keen to call a taxi, on one occasion she just gave me the phone to speak to the taxi firm. None of the taxi’s could find this hotel either which doesn’t bode well. Location was a concern. I wouldn’t book here again. The room was a good size and so was the bathroom, however, the white bath looked grimy and had rust and black marks all over the bottom of the bath. There was no way we would have a bath in that bathtub! We have a good night sleep. Kettle and continental breakfast was provided which was good.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff and super clean.

We were met at the door by the host. Very friendly and helpful. Check in was very easy and although we didnt expect our room to be ready 4 hours before we arrived to leave our car, it was. The room was spacious and very clean. Only small critisism was that there was only 1 pillow each and the bed was on wheels and not attached to the wall so on getting into bed and moving around the bed kept moving. We spent a few hours in the bar and the young lady and also Trystan were very helpful and accomodated all our wishes. We will definitely stay again and would recommend to all. Thank you Mountford hotel.

Wish the windows would have closed.

Our stay started off so well, we accidentally arrived to the hotel early so called in and found out our room was already available for check-in, we did so and then headed out into Liverpool to do some shopping.

We returned later that night to discover that the curtain tie-backs were hanging off the wall, after trying to close the window as we could hear the main road traffic, we discovered that they infact, didn't seal.

I went downstairs and called the night attendant who tried to find us a new room to stay in, we then packed up and moved to a new room, to find that the wallpaper was peeling in the second room, the curtains didn't cover the entirety of the window and once again the windows didn't shut properly.

Terrible room. Traffic noise is loud and windows are single glazed and draughty. Beds are really unsupportive and bouncy and you can feel the springs. Lighting is dim in room. Wall lights loose, tatty roller blinds that don’t fit and/or open. Bathroom shower screen with a gap that allows all the water to flood out.

Staff only answer door between 3-6 pm, single glazed windows, heating turned off overnight and back on in the morning, bathroom windows didn’t close properly, very dirty, mould on windows, thin doona, peeling wallpaper, tiles falling off in shower, had to run shower for up to 4 minutes before warm water comes through, breakfast was the worst , meagre offerings complete with an odd man in a thick coat who stood in the shadows with a phone in his hand muttering, and watching customers while they ate in the silent breakfast room. There’s so, so much more, with photos. Just awful.
