It would have been 5 stars if I didnt get bite by a centipede in bed.
Overall, its a hidden oasis and highly recommend this place. Just make sure you have a first aid kit handy, i was bitten in the wee hours of the morning when no one is awake.

Quiet place, no need for a private pool! Even my bungalow next to the road (#20) was peaceful, and all three small resort pools were empty, cool, and surrounded by plants. Staff is available and not overly-solicitous. Feasible walk to large grocery store in town. Loved their attention to eco-friendly measures where possible. Not flood-lit at night, so you can see the stars & the moonlight shimmering in the lagoon. Walk up to their sister resort, undergoing renovations, to use the glorious infinity pool there. No-fuss transfer to & from the airport, charged to room & paid before checkout by credit card. Welcome to stay on premises by the pool or in the restaurant ahead of flight. WiFi was particular to your room and choppy as you moved around the grounds, but usable with a bit of patience. Would return & happily bring friends!

The room was spacious and the gardens were lovely but the resort was in need of some significant maintenance (eg the pool was missing half the capping stones around the rim, one of the pools was green/milky and needed cleaning). I have stayed at other resorts in Efate and the service was much better too.

Absolutely wonderful week spent and Mangoes. The resort itself is peaceful and quiet (being adults only), the restaurant meals were consistently amazing and fresh and the staff were a stand out. By the end of our stay all the staff knew us by name and our favourite seats.

Highly recommend splashing out for one of the private pool bungalows, being about to have a private float after being out in the heat, or first thing in the morning as the sun rises was really special. Though there are 3 other communal pools that were more often than not empty.

The resort is located about a 15 minute walk from the main strip, which was fine for us but may be a bit hilly for those with mobility issues. In that case there are taxis and buses available. The local neighbourhood was incredibly safe, friendly and welcoming. People were genuinely friendly with no ulterior motives like some other touristy areas.

Reception staff were helpful if we ever needed directions, AC was great for us Tasmanians and will definitely be back.

We had a great 7 nights at Mangoes Resort. The staff are friendly and very helpful with any queries you have and helping with transportation. Buses are pretty easy to catch from the front of the resort and they have drivers always available.
The location is a little further from the main streets of Port Villa than we expected. It is walkable but isn’t flat and we wouldn’t suggest walking it late at night.
The resort is not directly on the lagoon and has no water access. For us and others staying, this was deceiving in the photos.
The villas with a lagoon view are definitely better. We had a private pool however we didn’t use it due to being a little rundown. The main pools and surrounding areas are also a little rundown with broken pool tiles and timber needing replacing. We did however see them doing repairs while there so maybe this will change.
The room itself was very clean and had the essentials which we needed.

All up, just OK and mixed good and bad. I was disappointed by the meals and felt the food was quite small, ordinary and overpriced. Lack of attention to the basics like salt and pepper on bringing the meal Cockroaches in my room's kitchen cupboard (large ones). This place is a bit isolated so good if you have a car. I did not. So, I needed to walk quite a bit up hill and, in the heat, to find anything and no public transport going past the hotel. The reception does not sell cell phone recharge cards. Not a place for oldies. There was no work desk, but you can work from a small dining table but no power outlet close enough to plug in. However, a very pleasant view and comfortable room and lovely manicured gardens with pool. And the reception very friendly and lovely.

The property and staff are great. They had an issue with AC not available but that isn't an issue for the future. Waiting on a taxi and availability of taxi after 9pm is a challenge. Local young men harass from the street while waiting on a taxi or any other reason you're out exposed.

There's a bit of a hill but easy to jump into a bus if you don't want to walk up the hill to other parts of town, easy for tours to be arrange through reception of do yourself via various apps. Food is delicious only would suggest having the ability to order something simple for dinner if been out and about for the day. Had garden view pool villa - it was great, peaceful, kitchen facilities so you could cook yourself and save $. Encourage you to also try other local dining options as very reasonably priced.

If you’re looking for a place which is quiet and peaceful, this is it. No children. No cultural nights. Just tranquility.
We stayed in the plunge pool accommodation and it was ver private with a great view. I would definitely recommend to pay a bit extra and stay in one of these. The accommodation with no pool has no private outdoor area for you to relax and unwind.
They catered for my husband who has coeliac disease. The chef spoke to him and made a separate menu. This was very reassuring.
Mangoes also extended our stay by an extra night when our flight was cancelled by our airline. This also included a free upgrade.
You won’t be disappointed with your stay at Mangoes- definitely recommend

The Mangoes resort exceeded our expectations for our 5 night stay in Port Vila. The grounds were lovely, the bungalows very well kept, the views were amazing, and the staff were always very helpful. The dining was very good quality and at a reasonable price. Mangoes is situated far enough away from the loud and busy main town centre to be quiet at night, yet close enough to walk easily to shops and other restaurants. All the bus drivers know the resort and because it's still in the township of Port Vila, the price for taxis and buses are minimal. Very good resort, I would definitely come again to stay here.

Stayed here due to a Virgin Airlines delay. The website looks much better than in person. Rooms good but very basic. It is in a shifty area so they recommend you lock your valuables in the wardrobe with a key. The food was pretty good (Dinner & Breakfast), but we had a lot of dramas trying to get a ride to the airport because there was a cruise ship in town. Overall, maybe just touching on 3 stars.

Our toilet's cistern also screamed like a banshee every time it was flushed, which was a bit jarring.

Downside was the large bed I had was made by joining two single beds, so the cease between the two beds wasn’t comfortable. The beds overall were comfortable. They don’t refill toilettries. Every night I was bitten by mosquitoes. The problem was the cleaners would leave the room door open when they were cleaning, so mosquitoes were able to fly in and attack every night. No mosquitoes net in room. Location is an ok distance to town, maybe 10 minutes, you climb a steep hill. Local buses don’t go by often, it’s expensive to get the bus back to the resort. They’re located in a residential area, so nothing around.

This room had great character and a great views. The pool was a little dirty so just needs a clean. And wasn’t overly private especially when one of the ground staff members ran through to get to the next pool. But otherwise we loved staying here. The staff were so friendly and always helpful. And the restaurants food is SOOOOO TASTY!! We loved Irene who worked there, always smiling and wanting to chat. Overall we were happy and would definitely come back.

Mangoes Resort and Retaurant is set out very nicely and each bunglow has it's privacy and very roomy with everything you need. Close to town to walk, tour desk available in-house, available taxi's and buses. Staff were very attentive. The massage is so relaxing (at a cost). Bar and restaurant has plenty of options. Mangoes does an amazing job helping you celebrate a special event. The afternoon tea (24 hour notice is required) is absolutely amazing. The girls create a table out of the simplest things. Highly recommend this resort for anyone that would like either just a relaxing holiday or a romantic getaway.

Liked the friendly staff and the fact we could have meals in our bungalow with no extra charge for room service. Loved the plunge pool. Amenities were adequate, but it’s looking in need of refurbishment in some areas. Taxi ride into Port Vila from Mangoes costs around 500VT.
The gym was out of action, being given an overhaul, which was not mentioned on Mangoes’ website at the time of our booking.

Great location for those working with WHO/MOH/Hospital - town is also in walking distance. The resort itself is lovely and has a peaceful setting with lovely grounds and a few different pools to swim in. The room I was in was right by the main entrance, so did feel a bit exposed, but that would be my only downside to the stay. The massage service was great, food at the restaurant is also lovely

There was no air conditioning in the room, which was my fault for not checking when booking. However, there was a large cockroach flying around in the room which took me an hour to catch, and the toilet ran out of water on the first night. The front desk is only open until 7 PM so if you have any issues, you should try and contact the front desk before they close. The room was clean enough, but the lack of air conditioning and some bugs made it less comfortable.

Mangoes is a lovely resort - individual rooms and all set out with reasonable lagoon views from the balcony of our hut (which we did pay extra for) - they probably could do with some gardening on the trees in the neighbouring properties. But there wasn't air conditioning in the rooms (perhaps I overlooked this when booking) - we were just lucky that it was not all that hot.

The staff were very friendly but the costs in the resort were a little outlandish and slow. We had a meal for VT7550 and to state that it wasn't worth the AUD100 that we effectively spent (but that's Vanuatu - don't go expecting a cheap holiday), and no free wifi in your room wasn't good either. We got better value at other resorts for their buffet style meals.

Finally, we did like the pools but they really could have done with a good clean, but still more than refreshing but there wasn't a pool bar. But we did enjoy the extra movies they had on the TV's - we did relax and watch quite a lot of these.

Very small and quiet hotel perfect for a romantic relaxing holiday. Beautiful view of Erakor Lagoon and private deck with plunge pool at our room. Highly recommend the Santo beef fillet for dinner. Staff are happy to book tours etc on behalf of guests - this makes payment easier too. The Lelepa Island day tour is well worth doing - amazing snorkelling over colourful coral reefs and an insight into past and present island culture.

Mangoes is an excellent place to stay in port vila. Out of the bussle of the downtown area with its many minibuses. the coffee, food and wine is excellent, the rooms are spacious and service is always with a smile. I always try to stay in Mangoes when in PV. Even though it is a business trip - Mangoes is relaxed enough to not feel like a business hotel.

Lovel resort but BEWARE the Holiday Inn next door

Mangoes Resort is a beautiful elevated spot overlooking the Erakor Lagoon just out of town in Port Vila. Adults only with private and comfortable bungalows arranged on the cliff top amongst the trees and gardens. Three sets of secluded swimming/plunge pools and a small but very nice restaurant complete the facilities.

I was more than impressed when I arrived late in the afternoon and familiarised myself with the place.

I was VERY UNIMPRESSED however when the incredible noise from the Holiday Inn's entertainment down below started up at about 6pm. Over-Amplified music etc. reverberating up towards my bungalow. EVERY NIGHT.
Fire Night, Movies under the stars night, general lets have a party nights.
Sadly, it seems the speakers face the cliff and the lovely Mangoes Resort above.
The Holiday Inn does start to wind the noise down by about 9.30pm which is reasonable but the fact all the noise making machinery faces Mangoes to the degree it does is a terrible shame. The deep base sounds of dancing music, even though quietened can go on disturbing until midnight some nights. I was lucky to have aeroplane ear plugs with me.
So, not Mangoes Resorts fault and I will stay at Mangoes again but not in one of the Lagoon View Bungalows. The Lagoon views aren't all that much cop really. I was in Bungalow #10. DON'T
The second and third tiers of Mangoes bungalows, back from the cliff top seemed to be much less affected and will book one of those for my next visit.

We stayed in a lagoon view bungalow with a private pool. The views were amazing, some decor was a little tired (eg. The covers on the poolside lounges were torn). The staff were fabulous, and the restaurant great. The grounds were well kept and lush. It’s about a 10 minute walk into Port Vila or a cheap bus ride in (150-200vt). The absence of children was marvellous. Our beds were comfortable and fly wire on the louvred windows made sleeping comfortable. A light in the wardrobe would have been appreciated as would a luggage rack but overall, our stay was great.

We stayed at Mangoes for 4 nights, the staff were very helpful and friendly and recommended a great tour around the island with Ni-Vans Tom and Noah. The breakfast coffee was the best we had in Port Vila. Dinner was fantastic. We did have a few issues with mosquitos in the room so it would be good to include some spray or coils in the room. Overall, easy access into town, excellent staff, beautiful gardens and a comfortable bed made for a relaxing stay. Thank you Mangoes!

Mangoes is great for a quiet adult getaway. Magnificent views from the villas over the lagoon but a good approx 1 km interesting jungle walk down to the lagoon. This resort was just perfect

Came here for our wedding anniversary and did not regret the choice. Easy check in and a fantastic apartment with its own private plunge pool. The room is huge with its own kitchenette, a large bathroom and a king size bed. The grounds of the resort are fantastic with a number of pools and great views over the harbour. This is a lovely place to relax and the service is typically Melanesian, warm and friendly.

Beautiful surroundings and superb chef

The resort consists of chalets (\"bures\" in local parlance) scattered amongst well-maintained gardens and three swimming pools atop a hill overlooking the lagoon in the east of Port Vila, Vanuatu's capital and largest town. The chalets vary greatly in terms of exposure to breezes, and possibility of a view of the lagoon. Number 7 is rather enclosed, and only by standing on one's toes in the bathroom can one glimpse the water. When the weather is in the high 30s Celsius (90s Fahrenheit) guests may find the room fans insufficient, in which case, additional fees are levied to use the single air conditioner. There is no business centre available. A map can be provided, showing a quick way into town, or down to the Holiday Inn compound.

The Bangladeshi chef, Gerald, is a truly wonderful cook, and his meals are some of the best in the South Pacific.

Mangoes Team could not be any more helpful in ensuring our stay was as perfect as possible. Highly recommend - this was our third time there. Stayed in bungalow with private pool. We will be back again next Christmas - already can't wait.

Nice atmosphere with plants, good location

Toilet didn’t work and ants covered the beds and bench tops in our bungalow
The food was very over priced and not nice so we ate in the city all the time.
The breakfeast included in package is deceitful, you only get two options in the breakfeast package which is toast and fruit, no way near worth the money you pay extra.

Relaxed, quiet locatin

Good environment for quiet, intimate holiday. Good internet for those who need to work. Bungalows are now a bit dated but well maintained and have all you need with good air con and TV. Away from town centre - easy to arrange bus or taxi though. Friendly unpretentious staff. Food. Food is super fresh and some of the best I’ve had in local hotels in terms of taste, that “just cooked” warmth and freshness. Would stay there again or next door at the Terrace Apartments ( partner property)

Mangoes Resort

Mangoes was where I chose to start my holiday,

As a single women travelling alone I felt very safe at Mangoes and walking locally.Not too far a walk into town (Port Villa) but look where your walking, the footpaths are deadly, gaps and pipes sticking up. The staff were very pleasant and happy to accommodate my requests. The food was fresh and delicious.

Note the free Wifi is only in the restaurant and not too your room, you will have to pay extra for that. I had a garden villa and the view and room itself was spectacular! However, as Mangoes backs onto the hill of the Lagoon, the sound from the other resorts easily travelled up to the room. Luckily it wasn’t every night more like every other, which I could handle. Also note that as an adult only resort this must be in relation to accommodation only as the restaurant is open to all.

Had a wonderful massage which I thoroughly enjoyed and was in a lovely location but I would like to offer a suggestion of adding another netting that doesn’t part in the middle like the current ones but rather goes across a whole side and has added weights in the bottom so when the wind blows your not flashing anyone either walking past or the staff at the back.

Mangoes have some of the most beautiful flowers around the complex.

Nice hotel, not too far from town.

Rooms were spacious and clean. We were often the only ones in the pool. The only town noise was a church across the lagoon, which finished by 9pm. It was a 1km walk to town, with a hill. Even in the dark we felt quite safe.
The only sour notes relate to transport. The taxi driver from the resort was really expensive, and then didn't take us where we had agreed. The airport pickup/dropoff service is expensive if you are more than a party of one.

Great resort and quiet

This is a brilliant resort for adults only so nice and peaceful. The restaurant has great food and room service is free. If you have just the villa there are 3 pools to choose from which we had to ourselves during our stay. The staff are very friendly and assist as needed. Views from the lagoon view villas are amazing. Only a 10 minute walk into Port Vila centre. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone travelling to Vanuatu.

Excellent.

Great hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of town centre. Staff were fantastic, very helpful and accomodating. Facilities were great, we had a buglow and it was plenty big enough for me and my mum. There are three good size separate pools and acess to the gym. Food and drinks were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel.
