If breakfast would be buffet, it will be better, so that we can take what is required and avoid wastage.
Almost all staff were amazing except one or two. Property was advertised with lots of activities in Lagoon but nothing was available. I believe there will be better options with similar price. Some of tours offer via front office where 20 to 40 percent cheaper when we enquired from outside.

The property had really nice places to sit and relax. Amazing views. We werent allowed to swim at the lagoon, it would have been a better experience. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Great food quality at their restaurant. We had a continental breakfast not bad to get you through the morning. They had 3 pools, a family one, an adults only and infinity pool. The property was very clean and rooms were cleaned every day. A special thank you to the staff that decorated a special area for our 1 year anniversary, they went above and beyond. We both had a memorable time. We would go back for sure. We enjoyed it thoroughly.

We loved our room that had an excellent view from the balcony overlooking the Lagoon. The bed was comfy, the A/C was clean and quite, the shower was good, and we loved having a fully kitted kitchen in the room with, fridge, gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, pots, pans, cutlery, cups & plates. The breakfast was very good too, which included toast, croissants, yoghurts, fruit, cereals, tea, coffee, juice, milk, jam, butter & marmalade, and was brought to the room by the lovely staff at about 8am every morning. The cleaning staff, especially Rachel, were an absolute delight, and kept the room nice, clean and tidy every day.

The lagoon isn’t great for swimming and its a but tired but it’s what you pay for. You will need to travel out a bit to go snorkeling and have a nice meal but the staff are lovely and the breakfast is ample and the rooms are comfortable.

Quiet, peaceful, but exceptionally good value. Continental breakfast provided was not great, but we had cooking facilities and it was easy to buy some eggs and bacon. And we brought our own coffee. So all good. Restaurant not fast but food was always very good. And staff always very friendly and helpful.

Nice resort with a nice restaurant and helpful staff. The downtown was closed because of the December 2024 earthquake. This wasn't the resort's fault, but it meant we weren't able to see much in the capital city.

The property far exceeded our expectations. Everything is in perfect condition, comfortable, private, quiet and beautifully landscaped. 3 great pools- one is adults only!! Good location. Quite central despite town being closed from the quake. The internet wasn’t overly reliable so I’d recommend a local sim or roaming data. I think the wifi issues were also quake related. An unusual time to be in Vanuatu however Poppy’s provided a great accommodation and you wouldn’t even know there was a 7.3 just 2 weeks prior.

We had a two bedroom apartment. It was very clean but everything is getting old.
The staff were amazing!
We went to the restaurant once and the food was good but we were the only people in the restaurant so we decided to venture out every day to eat.

Apart from 1 staff member, the rest were really rude and dismissive. Shower was mouldy, breakfast was usually a little stale, sheets did not feel clean/my skin itched like crazy everytime I was in bed. Restaurant food tasted good but staff were inconsistent in providing table service. Wifi was absolutely shocking, I barely even had service in my room so I couldn't even use mobile data. I was advised the lagoon was contaminated when I arrived so no swimming or any water sports apart from kayaking. The resort itself is beautiful but overall was quite expensive for the poor experience.

Loved the bungalows on the beach and kitchen and spa. Wifi was a bit patchy but suffice. Easy walk to town. Sports bar next door was good to watch the football. Wish there was a bit more atmosphere say happy hour etc to meet other guests.

Loved staying at Poppy’s. The garden bungalows are perfect and have everything you need. All of the staff are welcoming and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. You can walk to town in about 15 minutes but be aware there’s a very long steep driveway to get to the road. We’d definitely stay there again.

Overall we had a very comfortable stay. The rooms have everything you need and are well equipped. There are two air conditions in the 2 bedroom apartments which helped to cool down the entire apartment.
Rooms were cleaned everyday which was nice. Pillows and bedding were very comfortable.

Some issues were the apartments did not have blockout blinds although we were told nobody could see in at night you could see through the window and also it was very bright.
There was only one area to put your clothes in one of the rooms.
Only two locks on two of the doors.
The power cut out a few times when we would start appliances and one of the power points were burnt.

But overall I would stay at Poppy’s again. My family really enjoyed their time.

Poppies is a nice relaxing bush setting.
The lagoon is not blue and clean. We were advised the lagoon is not safe to swim in, the water is murky light brown.
The staff are friendly, like all people from Vanuatu we met.
We had no shampoo/conditioner in our room until the 3rd day of our stay after asking for 3 days.
The free continental breakfasts are generous and good variety of food delivered to your room with instant coffee.

Poppy's is paradise

Out of the 3 places we stayed we liked this place the best. We were in a studio apartment towards the top. The rooms are a bit old but clean and presentable. Beds and pillows are comfortable. Staff serviced our room daily. Nice bathroom products and amenities available. Air con worked great. Breakfast is decent; fruit, pastries and cereal available. We had dinner here twice. One was the traditional night with a feast which was fun, it included kava tasting, dinner and dessert, traditional band and dancing. The other night we ordered off the menu and our food was nice. Make sure you give some tidbits to the little cats that reside in the garden. The staff at Poppy's are very helpful and friendly. They helped us book tours and called buses for us etc. Someone even came to our room when it was raining to give us an umbrella! We made use of the kayaks and used the pool too; great to have these facilities. The location of Poppy's is good, there are quite a few places to see and eat at within walking distance. Spice restaurant is close by. It is quiet on the lagoon and has a lovely view. Catching buses from here is easy. If you are elderly or not able to walk a lot be warned the driveway in and out of the resort is very steep (as well as to some of the rooms), for those that are able though it is a great workout for the bum. No complaints really. Only annoying thing is wifi is only available at reception but it's not that big of a deal.

The staff were excellent, especially Betty, on reception, who was very helpful. Michel, the bus driver, was very good and easy to get on with.
Breakfast was hit and miss and depending on what time you arrived, whether there was sufficient food or crockery!
Rooms - we had a studio room upstairs. The shower leaked water and the seal on the fridge was broken. The bed was comfortable. Electricity was a problem and only one appliance could be used at a time. The kettle was useless as it only “boiled” water to lukewarm. Had to use the microwave to make a cuppa.
Tv - once again this was also hit and miss as to whether you got any volume on the channels! The fox movies channel lost sound after a couple of days then froze completely.
Wifi was available at reception and was slow.

Setting was beautiful and staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Getting to and from the center of Port Vila was cheap and easy, with local minibuses everywhere. Room was very good with magical views, but in the bathroom, there was some mould around the shower cabinet. Resort organised on-ground transfers to airport but charged several times more more than local taxi or bus services.

Wifi was unreliable and most advertised TV channels did not work. Guests need to be aware also that there is 15% tax on room rates, making it more expensive than the advertised prices.

Massively overpriced for such a poor experience

Poppy's was a disappointment from the start. This place is so overpriced it is unreal. For the sake of brevity I'll list the issues:
(1) The breakfast offering was very limited - for the price we paid to stay here it was frankly offensive. The muesli ran out on the first morning and wasn't replaced for three days. I bought my own from the local shop; I want something better than cocopops/cornflake. The breakfast set-up is inefficient with items constantly needing replenishing - but not until you go to use it to find the milk/coffee/dry pancakes are empty. I also do not appreciate staff at breakfast interrupting my eating (of what little there was available) to encourage me to buy artwork from the woman's stall opposite. No matter how politely put, this was completely inappropriate.
(2) The wifi offering was abysmal - exceptionally slow yet cafes in town managed to offer much better internet for the cost of a coffee.
(3) Contacting the hotel prior to arrival was an utter farce. Hotel non-responsive for weeks on email. They do not use the hotels.com portal and phoning is very expensive. Even after all this hassle the transfer was arranged wrongly and I spotted a massive overcharge on checkout. Really not good enough.
(4) A member of staff offered to arrange us a taxi to Mele yet failed to tell us this was five times more expensive than us getting a taxi from the top of the street. Felt ripped-off.
I would not stay here again and would encourage others to avoid too.

The Poppy gardens are gorgeous and the staff are extraordinary...friendly, helpful and dedicated to helping guests make the most of their stay. We greatly enjoyed our time there. Breakfasts were ample, especially the fresh fruit selection which is much more extensive than the fruits offered at the more upscale Ramada further down the lagoon.
After nine days of exploring Port Vila and other sights on Efate, we left with calves of steel from all the stairs and hills around. It’s a good walk into town...worthwhile to get a perspective on how the residents of Seaside live. Sights not to miss in Vila: the national museum and the mind boggling collection of artifacts at Utlalo.

Nice hotel construction being done so a little loud at time but thats to be expected we had a lagoon view room which was nice but neighbours loud at night so we got moved to a lagoon spa room which was lovely but the spa only fills up about 10 inches befor you run out of hot water but that didnt really bother up its down on the lagoon side so a lot of up hill walking to get to the top to catch a local bus

A resort with character but lacking some of the systems and smartness of the bigger and newer resorts. A Great Getaway from the hustle and bustle of Vila

Fifteen years ago we stayed at Poppy's for several days and nights and we enjoyed it then and again this time although only two nights we could not have asked for a better place to stay.
There have been many changes and theses have added to ensuring that one could really relax, switch off and also enjoy the facilities and the environment.
The buffet breakfasts were excellent with choices tropical fruits, bread, cakes, croissants and cereals as well as jams and fresh fruit juices. Our evening meal was just as good. The dining area is also great for working and accessing the internet if one nhas to keep in touch with the office etc.. The views from the bungalows particularly those on the water's edge were superb, especially in the early morning with the ni Vanutuan fishermen out in their dugout canoes on the lagoon and the early morning rowers and swimmers. It was very peaceful and whilst we were there the early mornings were clear skies and the sun glistening in the coconut palms and the lagoon being like a mill pond made it very memorable. the service was excellent and the bungalow was just what we needed. Particularly with the couches and umbrellas at the waters edge only metres from one's front door. It close to the town and within walking distance for some and only vatu 300 for a cab drive into Vila and a bus, (hire mini bus), was only vatu 2,000 to or from the airport. We will certainly be going back again next year.

Great resort on the lagoon

Friendly helpful knowledgeable local staff. The resort is within easy walking distance of Port Villa, markets, shops, restaurants, casino and the port. Its relatively simple to hire a car and drive around the Efate. We were there in September and the weather averaged a comfortable 26 degrees.

Terrific, except for.....

This resort exceeded our expectations in every way except for the bath in the spa bungalow suite. We booked this hotel over all the others especially for the spa bath. Unfortunately it just didn't live up to the hype. It is hooked up to a water tank that isn't actually able to fill it with hot water any more than about 3 inches from the bottom. So you sort of sit in a puddle for a bit and then go and have a shower! It's all good, we coped, had a laugh about it, and kept boiling the jug and adding more hot water, but after all that effort we didn't use it again. Massive shame because we paid extra for the spa suite and then couldn't use the spa!!
Otherwise, the room was great - spacious, awesomely comfy bed, clean facilities and a great gas cooker in the kitchen meant that we didn't need to eat out every night and could cook for ourselves. Very thrilled with that. The resort is in an excellent location 10 min walk from town. The staff are friendly and helpful. Free wifi in public places worked ok and breakfast was fine.
We are pleased we stayed here, we would recommend it to others, we would return here ourselves. Just probably wouldn't bother paying extra for the spa bath that's all.

Quiet location a good base to explore from

We stayed 6 nights from the 12th of June , if you are seeking a quiet location away from the bigger resorts this place may suit you, our first night we stayed in the cheaper lagoon view studio high up in the resort and we hated it , just too far away from the main part lower level and the rooms were so small I felt like I was suffering from claustrophobia , we were seriously considering finding alternative accommodation until my partner spoke to reception and worked out a $300 upgrade to a larger room right on the lagoon, once we moved down there we were reasonably happy , it's a good 10 minute walk into town but we enjoyed doing it or you can get into a bus for $1.50 , Don't expect much for breakfast except for some cold pancakes and bread to toast and a bit of jam and coffee but it's ok enough to get you started I suppose, The staff were all pleasant enough and helpful if you asked for advice, the hotel manager is a carbon copy of a Basil Fawlty running around annoying the staff but tended to shy away from making any contact with guests...

Room was good, walls are thin so expect to hear neighbours talking muffled. Also tiles on the floor make it loud when people above are walking around or drop something.
Be sure to check your room bill at the end of the stay. We where charged more for things we had paid for by cash, and some things wherent taken off the bill for things we didnt end up doing ie a massage. Keep a record of everything you put on your room bill. Some of the service was slow, orders getting forgotten or full charge for cocktails even during cocktails even tho I ordered within the Happy hour prices.
The staff where every friendly and helpful when organising tours, drivers and information. The massages are amazing and highly recommend getting one.
Location was good = quick 10min walk into the main centre. As 2 females (mother and daughter) we where adviced from hotel staff not to walk back from town any later then 9 on a friday, saturday, or sunday due to the locals having a drink at the local bar around the corner from the hotel.
Overall I will be staying in this hotel again it was a very satisfactory hotel.

Perfect stay at Poppy's

Poppy's was an excellent choice for a long (8 night) stay in Port Vila. It was perfectly situated away from the hustle and bustle of the main street, yet still an easy 10 or so minute walk away. With complimentary kayaks and snorkelling gear for use in the lagoon it was on. The staff were also extremely attentive and lovely, and always greeted you with a smile and asked about your day. The resort also thought of all the little details to make a stay enjoyable - reef shoes, pool towels, umbrellas for use etc. Would definitely stay here again :)
