We absolutely loved our stay at Fatumaru Lodge—a perfect base for our family holiday in Vanuatu.

The room was spacious and well-equipped, with cooking facilities, a proper fridge and freezer (a big plus with kids!), and plenty of room to relax.

The view from our room was stunning—sparkling water by day, beautiful sunsets from the sundeck by night. It was peaceful, picturesque, and felt like our own slice of paradise.

It’s also in a super convenient location—an easy walk to local cafes and restaurants, with a bus stop right outside if you want to head into town.

Friendly staff, a relaxing vibe, and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We’d absolutely recommend Fatumaru Lodge to any family visiting Port Vila!

Fatumaru Lodge was a wonderful safe haven in Vanuatu. We explored the island a lot including going over to Irikiri Island and Hideaway Island and each time were so much happier with our accomodation at Fatumaru Lodge.

Key benefits:
- very peaceful and quiet. You rarely hear staff or other guests
- extremely roomy. We had the 2 bedroom and felt like it had lots of space.
- very strong air conditioning
- very comfy beds
- great outdoor balcony for drying clothes and catching last of the sun
- beautiful sunsets
- the pool is the perfect temperature and very clean
- the location is amazing. Easy walk to a tiny complex which has a food court massage bakery, and then walkable to Banyan Beach bar and main port villa town is about 18 mins from accomodation
- staff are helpful and friendly. They helped us book taxis answer questions and never felt overbearing

Our stay at Fatumaru Lodge was definitely the best part of our Vanuatu trip.

Fatumaru Lodge exceeded our expectations! it is tucked away in a quite area off the main road, walking distance to the local shops, cafes, markets and other Port Vila must see's. The staff were always friendly, accommodating, and made us feel very at home. The resort is getting constant upgrades and you can tell a lot of work has been put into it and continues to - what was surprising was the lush and well maintained gardens around the resort - so lovely, and it was so tidy - and our view was next level, we had such a great stay and made some great memories, thank you!

The review for the hotel is decidedly mediocre. The property is in a state of disrepair, and while we were given a renovated room—meaning the kitchen appliances were new—the rest of the room was nothing special. The bathroom was in extremely poor condition, with one side of the toilet seat broken off. It looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. The bathroom was in barely acceptable condition, clearly not renovated for many years. The sinks and shower were completely clogged with limescale, making it nearly impossible for water to drain.

We reported the lack of Internet on the first day, yet it wasn’t fixed until our departure on the final day. The staff didn’t seem to care and barely acknowledged our complaint. The pool was out of service, and there was an overwhelming amount of dirt throughout the area. Trash was left lying around, and it felt like no one bothered to clean it up. On our last day, they began renovating the roof, resulting in constant noise and chaos.

We were promised a welcome drink, but despite asking, it never materialized; our inquiry was completely ignored. The cleaning service was subpar, with towels left drying on the office roof. Room cleaning was a joke—one piece of paper that fell on the floor stayed in the exact same spot until we returned. The whole place felt neglected and poorly managed. This hotel clearly operates on its own flawed rules, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Lovely stay at Fatumaru Lodge, parts bit dated as expected but all in all was ok for the price. Power problems persisted in our unit the whole visit with power going off every now and again but staff quickly reacted turning it back on. Would suspects too much of a load on the mains power. Hot water in shower was a bit of a trick to master but once you got the knack of it you could have a great shower. Would recommend asking for unit Walla which was upstairs but great private view towards Port Vila.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Fatumaru Lodge. Beautiful, tranquil, peaceful, clean, and very well priced. We enjoyed the pool, the hammock near the ocean and the view from our beachfront unit a great deal. Request a top floor room for added privacy. The staff were lovely. It’s a 20 minute walk to town centre, or 150vt pp on the local bus, which you can easily hail at the front of the accommodation on the main road. Highly recommend!

We have stayed at Fatumaru Lodge many times and we love it, it feels better then home.
If you like to kayak or stand up paddling you have it right out your front balcony. (kayaks and stand up boards are provided free of charge)
If you like to swim they have a pool just out your back door, the pool area has lots of shade and a BBQ you can use. You get beautiful view of the sunset that cover the sky in lovely colours which we look forward even night.
The rooms have very large king size bed with a small kitchenet.

The staff can book your airport transfers at the best price and they transfers staff will have a sign with your name on it at the airport gate.

When taking a bus or taxi around town every driver knows how to get to Fatumaru Lodge. It about a 20 minute into town and you pass many bars and restaurants and long the way.
We have plans to come back to Port Vila and we will be booking here again.

Food was nearby , no issues getting a bus right from the doorstep!

Great stay. Easy check in and out. Staff friendly and helpful. Well equiped room with beautiful view to lagoon. Close enough to walk into town for meals, but room is set up for self catering also. Only stayed overnight prior to flying home the next day and is convenient to airport.

Beautiful, semi-secluded lodge still walking distance to restaurants and Port Vila central district. The decor is just right and the balcony a huge perk. Nice kitchenette too. All in all, a good place to spend a few nights.

Note: the upper bedrooms have an open upper wall in the toilet/bathroom, so there is little \"noise\" privacy if travelling with a companion. Something to keep in mind if this is a concern for you.

I loved staying at the lodge. It is close to a lot of Port Villa's attractions and town. Lovely staff and facilities. My only issue was the hot water. I only managed 2 days out of 7 to get one. The weather was warm but not warm enough for a cold shower. I would still stay again at the lodge but would hope the hot water system will improve.

This was a small boutique hotel, fairly quiet and nice views over the lagoon.
The room was clean and the bed extremely comfortable, unfortunately we had several power outages through out our stay, at times became very difficult for my daughter and 12 week old baby especially in the evenings. It also interfered each time with the tv so ended up with no Netflix, which we only watched at bed time.
The pool was nice a few mosaic tiles missing on the steps, but nice and clean.
The decking around the pool in areas needs attention as a little unsafe.
It was a shame that the wooded louvre doors didn’t have mosquito netting on so we could have the slats open at night.

The staff at Fatumaru were very friendly and helpful. Comfy bed with large mosquito net (essential!) and a beautiful water view to wake up to.

It's walkable to everything yet is super quiet so easy to get a good night's sleep.

As from other reviews, the dripping shower was still there so would recommend bringing ear plugs.

Also make sure you don't leave any food crumbs around as an ant party will arrive without delay.

If you are traveling with a lot of luggage, be sure to arrange for a taxi. There is a steep, tight turn that many transports are not able to make, including the pick-up to return to the airport. The night guard was very helpful, but it was difficult to get all of our suitcases up to the turn-off for the early morning airport pick up. There was no mosquito net on the single bed for our daughter and the balcony was unscreened. We all three slept in the King size bed (which was quite comfortable). There were only 2 towels, and since we came late and left early, we could not request another. The shower dripped all night long. We had a late arrival and appreciated the flexibility of staff to help us out with that. Our quick overnight was probably not adequate to give a fair trial, but we were not so positively impressed that we feel compelled to return.

Whilst the rooms have been built in a beautiful way which reminds of an Italian albergo the property is in need of some TLC. Our shower head was half blocked and dripped all day and night. The bathroom tiles are grubby. Beds and rooms have been tidy and there is a little outside kitchenette and seating area on the balcony. Pool would also need a clean.
Staff have been very friendly and helpful.
Good options are a short walk or bus ride away which didn’t bother us.
There is a great cafe/ bakery down the road in the shopping center and heaps of restaurants in town.

We stayed at the Fatumaru Lodge the first 2 weeks of September, this was our 2nd time we have stayed at Fatumaru. We requested the same unit as the first time when booking, Rae the manager took the time to email back to inform us she had pencilled the room in for us. We picked this unit as it has beautiful water front views, it is right next to the kayak and the stand up paddle boards which we used a few times a day.Rae and her lovely team of Julie and Jennifer are happy to help you out with anything you need, from answer question about transport where to go snorkeling or just to chat about their county and local customs.Isaac the handyman was very busy doing lots odds and ends around the place but he still found the time to say hello, he even carry our bags to our per ordered airport transfer.The cleaning staff did our room when we were out kayaking each morning by the time we got back our rooms were made up with nice fresh flower.From the welcoming drink on arrival to helping us with our bags everyone was so lovely we will becoming back to Port Vila and will be staying in the Fatumaru Lodge again.

This place is breathtaking! Compared to the other hotels nearby, this place offers the best value for money. Definitely located on the better side of town, with an excellent view of the bay!

The free kayaking and stand up paddle boards were a highlight!

It’s just a five minute walk from the towns best French bakery and restaurants. Extremely quiet and peaceful area! You will want to stay here!!

There are so many positives about this place. Firstly, its only a short walk to Tana Plaza and downtown Port Villa yet it is so private and in such a beautiful setting. We had the most the amazing room with the best view and acess to the water. Because there are not alot of rooms it was quiet and most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. The staff were awesome. So friendly and helpful. I am so happy we chose Fatumara over all of the other places and would definitely stay there again if we were ever lucky enough to re-visit Vanuatu.

The accommodation was ideal for us. The studio apartment is well appointed with a delightful outlook across the bay. The property is situated close to restaurants and shops and is just a short walk or bus ride to the hustle and bustle of the town. The staff could not have been better. Nothing was too much trouble, but in no way were they intrusive. The pool is delightful and the entire establishment had a lovely relaxed ambience.

Wow What a place to stay you are really on the water.
The Fatumaru Lodge really has everything covered from water sport equipment, relaxing sun deck next to the pool, BBQ area. Rae and staff helped us book taxi/buses/tours.
It was our first time ever kayaking we ended up being on the water each night to watch the beautiful sunsets.
Our unit had a nice little kitchenette which we cooked a few meals, it was only a short walk to a few yummy restaurants you could even paddle to a some.
I would 100% recommend the Fatumaru Lodge

A great hotel just outside the main town of Port Villa. A 15 minute walk gets you to the centre of the town. A 5 minute walk gets you to some restaurants/bars.
Accommodation is relatively new and traditional decor makes it a charming and unique place to stay. Bed was very comfortable and everywhere was clean, neat and tidy. Unfortunately the shower was very temperamental, it was very hit and miss if you got a hot shower. We had a very early morning flight and a freezing shower at 4am was certainly one way to wake you up.
The view from the hotel room over the river is amazing. Watching the sunset from the balcony is a must.
The pool area was relaxing and there are bbq facilities if you wish to use them. There is also a small bar from which to get drinks.
Overall this is an excellent place to stay, but the hot water does let it down.

The place and regular staff were wonderful. However, when we addressed the 'extra guest fee' of $184.92 we were charged for 4 instead of 2 people as we now only had 3 people, we had to wait for our question to be passed on to the woman in charge of finance. When she did show up, she insisted that there was no such charge for our suite and that none had been collected. She told us that it was hard for her to understand Expedia bookings but she would look into it. She wasn't in the next day - our last there - so I have waited to see if any credit came through on my credit card. It hasn't.

Our family stayed for 10 days at Fatumaru Lodge. We found the staff to be exceptionally helpful and friendly. Julie was more than happy to help with all our queries and helped us with any bookings we wanted to make. They also have a pool of drivers they recommend when we wanted to book one for the day. Fatumara Lodge is well placed for getting in and out of town and the children loved the pool which was well cared for. A great place to stay that I would thoroughly recommend and book again for myself and our family.

We had a wonderful stay at Fatumaru Lodge. The location is so peaceful and beautiful on the water but only a short stroll into town for all the restaurant and and cafes. The beds are extremely comfortable and the staff could couldn't have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. And they're croissants at breakfast we're the best we had in Port villa! We would definitely stay here again if we came back to Vanuatu.

Relaxing, friendly and casual hotel. Very friendly staff and the rooms have enough facilities to prepare breakfast and lunches or a simple evening meal. A short walk to Numbawan (Town area) and even closer to Tana Plaza (which has an excellent french Bakery). Enjoy!

Very quiet. Plenty of space. All the staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful even giving us their 2 min noodles when i was stuck with no dinner. The kayaks were great fun. We were given a late check out which was so grateful as I had a toddler. Having a kitchenette was fantastic.

This is an amazing boutique resort right on the water. The room was really beautiful with shutter blinds/doors that opened straight to the water. Jenny is reception is so wonderful and helped me with booking tours and making sure my holiday was outstanding

Beautiful location and extremely friendly staff. Lodge was cleaned every day and facilities provided were excellent. Leaking tap in the shower and basin was a bit noisy at night time and lack of tv reception was a small issue. Julie the head receptionist was very informative and friendly and welcoming. Would stay there again.

Great place. Very comfortable, spacious and lovely staff. Only minor criticism was the shower dripped, other than that the place was clean, very comfortable, and the staff so kind, helpful, happy and efficient. Short 10 min walk from port villa shops and restaurants too. Would definitely recommend.

loved staying here good facilities
We felt a bit cold at night and wished there was a blanket rather than just a sheet on the bed however it usually doesn't get that cold I'm told but it would be good to have one in the cupboard.
Apart from that it was really nice there

This is a small, neat establishment with authentic design and decor, ample facilities and professional management. Location down steep driveway keeps it quiet. Rooms on waterfront best. 24hr security. Breakfast good value. 15min walk to town. Hail a B bus from top of driveway to get to town or negotiate a price for drive to see the sights if driver is willing which most seem to be. Reception also has a list of licensed drivers - Oliver is fast and cheerful. Rae at reception has info on anything you need. Check cruise ship days before booking any tours.

We went for our holiday to relax and this place was the right one. Away from city, coral beach, good people. Any last minute bookers, you will need to call them to let them know you made a booking.
Although there were a bit of confusion, Zilo, site manager, help his best to make us happy. Sorry, It's not only him but also all people on the lodge. Thank you all! Xxoxx

Lovely welcoming and smiley staff, they were all really helpful and made my stay comfortable. One of the bedroom lights didn't work, and wasn't fixed. Otherwise great place to stay, a little further out from the main tourist centre, but close enough to walk (20mins). Great kitchenette facilities, and paddle boarding and kayaking was great. Thank you to Jennifer and Julie for being so helpful

We stayed for 3 nights, the location was perfect (walk to town, 10 mins drive to airport), staff were very helpful and breakfast was good value. Great views of the water and very quiet. Air conditioning and the mosquito net made it easy to sleep. The pool was lovely and also had ocean views. A very relaxing, enjoyable stay!

Wonderful

Another wonderful stay at fatumaru. Stayed on the top floor. Private with lovely views. Pool here is great and can look out onto the ocean from your poolside haven. This is our 5th stay here and we will keep coming back.
