It was disappointing. On my arrival the beddings had tiny ginger ants, on the floor, and everywhere. The sheets were not fresh, some sort of fluid mark was visible on the top sheet (the bed only had a top sheet. No blanket). One of the staff change the top sheet and sprayed the bed with mortein and on the bed head wall. I was not happy having the bed and near the pillows being sprayed with pesticide but I thought it was the only way to get rid of the ants. Also, you had to pay extra for the AC remote control to use the air-conditioning. After sitting in the room for couple of hours, the ants were still visible and I was getting bitten so I complained and asked for a refund and to shorten my stay to one night as I was booked for 3 nights. The staff were apologetic and they moved me to another room with no TV and Internet connection was only available in a corner of the room.
Until now, a week since I've contacted Expedia to get my refund, Expedia and I haven't heard from the property owner/manager.

Superb “price performer” with a total family-friendly atmosphere❗Everyone cared and smiled. Excellent Wi-Fi connection. All the ladies were helpful. The view of the lagoon from my breakfast table was soooo relaxing.

The location is in a unique setting. Quiet and private. I never took the time to lock my room.

We stayed 11 days at The Lagoon Garden Resort, and while the property is a little dated and could use some TLC, it truly grew on us. At first, we were a bit taken aback as we expected something more modern and convenient, and even considered relocating. But after settling in and experiencing the warm hospitality, we’re really glad we stayed.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the view over the lagoon is beautiful — peaceful mornings and stunning sunsets. While the facilities are older and not luxurious, the genuine friendliness of the staff and owners more than made up for it.

Melcom (a Kiwi) and Ani, the owners, were incredibly welcoming and helpful, always going out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Their care and personal touch make this place feel like home away from home.

If you’re looking for a high-end luxury resort, this might not be for you. But if you value authentic island hospitality, a relaxed atmosphere, and great value, this is an excellent choice.

It’s a bit outside of Port Vila (30 -45 min walk), but local buses make it easy and cheap to get around. While this isn’t a luxury resort, it’s perfect for travellers looking for comfort, genuine hospitality, and great value. Plus, you can easily visit nearby luxury resorts for the day — most welcome outside guests if you buy food or drinks, so you can enjoy a touch of luxury without the high price tag.

The location of the Resort on the channel between No1 and No2 lagoons is just incredible. At the moment the Resort only has 6 rooms and is an Adult Only Resort and unfortunately it suffered some substantial damage from the Earthquake last year so the Owner is currently trying to build 3 more rooms along with carrying out repairs from the Quake but none of this impacted on our time there. From all my overseas travels over the last 40 years, this is the first time I have ever felt like a review was deserved.

The view of the Lagoon from the Balconies of the 2 Lagoon View rooms is to die for and the sunsets across the water are spectacular

We stayed for only one night. I found it overpriced in comparison to the condition of the accommodation & other resorts in top condition. Also on top they charged us 500 VAT extra just for the use of A/C remote.
Bathroom was in a very poor condition, very old, the door would not open or close properly. Water running from the toilet cistern continuously.
We could hear dogs barking throughout the night till around 3-4 am even though wearing ear plugs.
Overall it was an ok place to stay for one night but definitely overpriced

Like most places in Vanuatu, repair work is in progress as a result of the earthquake but this place is like visiting old friends. The management and staff are so engaging, supportive and obliging, Anika always has a smile and willingly helps with facts, recommendations, directions or ideas. Morgan is a born entertainer with some great tales to tell. Their local knowledge is wonderful and they can direct you to trusted people for special outings, shopping, sightseeing or transfers.
The accommodation is not sophisticated but the rooms are a generous size, maintained, affordable and clean. The surrounding gardens are absolutely beautiful with so many exquisite tropical plants and birds calling and there is a resident cat and iguana to add to the mix. Breakfast is basic, fresh made daily, eaten overlooking the water, taking in the expansive views of the lagoon. Location is quite convenient with buses running past regularly, currency change and supermarket nearby.

Beautiful setting & amazing hosts

Lagoon Gardens is by far the best place to stay in Port Vila.

The lush gardens right on the lagoon create a peaceful and unique atmosphere. Morgan, Yvette, and the entire team were incredibly kind and always happy to help, whether it was booking tours or assisting with anything else we needed.

The facilities are excellent: there’s a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor BBQ area, and free kayaks so you can explore the lagoon anytime you like. They also provide snorkeling gear, which you can take with you on your beach trips.

We’d definitely come back without hesitation! It felt like home.

Property is really dated and basic and needs some maintenance and deep cleaning. It’s cheap though, so you get what you pay for.

It‘s far from the city centre and there‘s literally nothing around. The hotel next door has a small restaurant, there‘s a chinese take away (inadvisable) and supermarket a 10 min walk down the street and that‘s it. TV has no program.

Our room had missing window pieces and the mosquito nets on the outside were broken too, so had a lot of ants, flies and bugs inside the room - I highly recommend to bring repellant and/or a mosquito net for the bed (there wasn’t one in the room) for calm nights. There was also no remote for the AC, so you need to keep the windows open anyways.
No shampoo and bodywash provided.

The owners and their staff ladies were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast consists of coffee/tea, toast, eggs and some fruits - nothing special but tasty and totally fine PLUS you‘re sitting just next to the lagoon in the morning, which was our highlight everyday.

Would recommend it for a short stay but it‘s really too quiet, dated and basic for a longer holiday. We were happy to leave after 6 nights.

Everything was very basic. the shower was terrible, not good flow of water. the privacy of bathroom was very much compromised.

The mosquito net was just for a baby not for the whole bed. The air conditions unit was only for show. The room TV was not connected with arial antenna and the youtube was not connected.

The breakfast was very basic. We suggest the owner was not seriously running the property.
Therefore, we left it on 25th of July and expect some money to be refunded to us. The owner also agreed for refund if you allow them.

We were quite disappointed with our experience. When we arrived, the towels provided were visibly dirty, which was not a great first impression.

The hot water wasn’t working when we checked in, although they did attempt to fix it, to no avail.

We also didn’t have the air-conditioning remote on our first night, which made the room uncomfortable. When we finally received it the next day, the air-conditioning still didn’t work properly.

While staff were polite, the overall maintenance and attention to detail were lacking. With a bit more care and responsiveness, the experience could be much better for future guests.

Hotel looks nothing like it’s advertised. It’s tired, untidy & limited services. Terms said they allowed changes (forfeiting one night stay - which is fair) but hotel refused refund remaining days of stay (moved to hotel next door). Expedia were not much better and did not meet the advertised terms but in the end gave us a small refund. Do not recommend as terms are not kept by either hotel or Expedia

The property itself has a lot of potential, but it appears unfinished and unintentional in how it's been managed. The area surrounding is not centrally located, which is fine, but I think that puts the onus on the hotel to create an inviting atmosphere on site for guests. The staff are lovely and the rooms are cleaned, but the property overall appears unmaintained and lacking thought regarding guest experience. The rooms are quite shabby, and in my room the curtains were falling off the rings and stained. The dock and the swimming pool could both be highlights of this space, but unfortunately they are rather uninviting, appearing unfinished and both lacking proper seating areas.

Stayed here twice on our trip and everything was great.
The pool and garden was lovely and well kept.
The location was scenic being on the lagoon and convenient with plenty of buses going just about anywhere 5 minute walk to Au Bon Marche (supermarket)
Some reviews complain of cleanliness but we found our bungalow to be quite clean both times. Just keep in mind Vanuatu is not Australia, and from 2 other experiences we found this level of cleanliness is standard at this price point. (Little things really. ie shower had obviously been cleaned but the grout could have done with replacing / a pillow or two was at its end)
Each bungalow felt secluded and was very quiet. We couldn’t hear the main road or other guests at all due to the garden.
All amenities worked and the fan worked so well we didn’t need the aircon
Bed and pillows were comfy.
The ladies there did some laundry for us which was so lovely though due to it being off season raining overnight the clothes struggled to dry so it’s probably better to just not
The included breakfast was really nice and filling (tropical fruit, mini pancakes, toast, sometimes with eggs, and coffee)
The staff were beyond amazing and super accomodating. They were the best part of this place.

To note: The bus drivers know it as Vila Chaumière (near Korman stadium). We didn’t need it but if you get really stuck Lagoon Gardens themselves offer an option for a transfer

My sister and I really enjoyed staying at Lagoon Gardens. It felt like a home away from home. The staff were so friendly and made you feel welcome. I liked the kayaking and the breakfasts overlooking the lagoon. Transport was easy to get to and the staff supported us with booking transport when needed. As two girls travelling alone not once did we feel unsafe.
Thank you to Morgan the owner and staff for taking car of us and making us feel so welcome!
This was definitely the best location for us to stay when we visited Efate. We'll definitely stay here again!

As a solo traveller I had the best time here and even extended my stay for a few extra nights!
The bungalow was spotless and surrounded by nature and even if I happened to be there on rainy days it was just so relaxing and peaceful!
10 min ride from town with an easy access to buses just out front.
All the staff is quiet amazing, kind and attentive.

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was super friendly and helped me booking tours and getting to places. The bungalow had everything you need (fridge, microwave, kettle, cutlery...).
It was easy to catch a bus into Vanuatu town for 150 Vatu. The breakfast (coffee, tea, toast, jam, eggs, pancakes, peanut butter, fruit) with a view overlooking the water was lovely.

The vegetation around the property was lovely. We had a view of the lagoon but it was unsafe to swim or snorkel so we didn't use it. It is super easy to catch a bus into the main town or even stroll. There is a supermarket close by and our favourite bakery the Shefa.

Nice spot to base yourself to explore Efate! The included breakfast was really tasty (toast, fruit, coffee and eggs or pancakes for our two days). It was good to learn that you can use their kitchen to prepare your own meals as there is no restaurant on site. There is a supermarket and more accommodation serving meals within walking distance. Our room was above the reception, so there was a bit of noise from downstairs as we sat on the balcony at night time, but couldn't hear it once inside the room with the door shut.

We arrived in the dark and spent 10 minutes trying to find reception. Lighting was poor and we needed to turn on phone torches to see. We arrived around 7 pm to find they had no restaurant, however they did ring the resort next door and we walked up there for dinner. We only had one night so probably hard to rate the rest. Staff were helpful and rooms were well appointed as far as what they had in them.

This is most definitely the place to stay when in Port Vila. The property is beautifully placed on the lagoon in amongst lush tropical mazed gardens. The cottages are large, clean and have everything you need for a comfy and safe stay. The hosts are not only friendly, and always available, but they go out of their way to make your stay a great one. We loved this little spot on the lagoon so much, we went back. I highly recommend and will definitely visit again. Thank so much for making our visit to Port Vila so very special :)

We stayed in the second floor unit with a balcony which allowed for a view of the lagoon. The veranda over the water was nice to have dinner on, as we had it to ourselves the nights we decided to cook in.
This was back in January, so tourism just gearing up again after Covid, a few small hiccups to be expected, but nothing major. The staff and owner very helpful with any requests.
The path to the accommodation is beautiful, feels like walking in a paradise garden.

Hot water was limited, basically shower with cold water. In general, i enjoyed and felt comfortable. Very friendly staff.

Great in the circumstances

Port Vila had just suffered 2 cyclones in a week cutting out electricity for large parts of the island. When we stayed, Vila Chaumieres still had no power, apart from a small generator. That has an impact on your stay but is beyond their control.
The staff were amazing and friendly to try and make the stay as good as possible in the circumstances.

The highlight of my stay in Vanuatu - for its tranquility and stunning natural setting. Paddling on the lagoon at dusk is stunning. A morning coffee or afternoon cold drink on the balcony looking out over the lagoon is magic. I really felt I knew the staff like friends after a couple of nights, such a helpful and friendly place. They helped me organise activities easily, and there are some great dining options along the lagoon. I'm missing the place already.

Clean and comfortable octagonal bungalow, set amongst natural gardens so feels secluded and private. Spacious toilet and shower room. Small kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge etc. Cutlery but curiously little in the way of crockery.
Wall mounted TV (not utilised)
Air conditioning, ceiling fan and mosquito net over bed.
Small but clean swimming pool for guests use.
Gripes....few, but significant. Restaurant permanently closed but this fact not disclosed on website when booked; noisy dogs barking through the night (second of two); close call with failure of property's arrangement of transport for 7am international flight (2500VT) - rescued by owner roused from bed to drive us there himself.

We enjoyed our stay. The property is outside of town and next to the lagoon. The owner let us use their kayak for free which is wonderful and very friendly staff. Our room is comfortable with air conditioning. Vanuatu is an expensive place to travel and and this property is reasonably priced, the property next door looks newer (we had dinner there) in a better condition, but you pay double the price. Chocolate the godo host is super cute :)

It is OK place for short stay

We travelled for a tennis tournament. When we arrived the room was infested with mosquitos. The people are helpful to help us to spray the room which helped but because all villas are surrounded by plants it is hard to get rid of the mosquitos. Also the resort charged extra if you want to use the airconditioner which was really very strange policy. The WiFi was available only in the restaurant, but not in the rooms. It was slow and unreliable. The pool was clean but small and not very functional. The resort offered kayak for activities which was well thought. The restaurant was nice and the food was great...the best in the area. However the free breakfast was very poor and if you wanted to have a cooked breakfast you should pay extra.

Ursula and her entire staff was wonderful and very helpful with ideas on excursions both big and small! The grounds are an amazing jungle oasis! The restaurant seating over the lagoon was enchanting day or night and the food delicious. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

Relaxing, comfortable and friendly.

Just one night at this beautiful location. Lovely restaurant by the lagoon, offering very appetising meals. Just a glorious setting. The hotel is set in a beautiful tropical garden. My room was very comfortable, and also very private. I enjoyed my one night stay very much, and plan to return on my next trip to Port Vila... hopefully to stay extra days at this location.

We stayed in a garden room. It was very peaceful and quiet. The room was very clean and with the fan and air con it was nice and cool. Meals and drinks are served over the lagoon, which is stunning with lots of marine life to watch while you eat and drink. There is a lovely pool area to lounge by. The owners are lovely too, and very helpful with many tips for getting the most out of your time. The staff are wonderful, very helpful and kind. It’s a very short trip into Port Vila by one of the many buses that drive by the place.

The room was spacious, but the aircon need extra payment when we got there and the description on Expedia included aircon so we were a bit disappointed. There were insects in the room. It would be better if it had a TV. The breakfast was good!

Great if you want to get away without the big resort hustle and bustle.Easy access to transport into Port Vila, you can buy groceries just a short walk away.The resort owners and staff are simply amazing and will help you book trips as well as drop you into town if they are going in. Also this is one of the top restaurants around.
