Overall is very run down compared to photos. Sheets were dirty for the first 2 days on arrival. Floors were dirty. No working shower, no hot water. Kitchen barely has any food on menu never in stock or limited choices. Bed was extremely noisy. Pillows were awful we got very sore necks and back and we aren’t old. Rust present in bathroom. Mould in bathroom. Room smells musky like mould. Village across is very noisy. They leave big outdoor lights on that shine right through the windows while trying to sleep at night. All mesh on windows had holes so got bitten by a lot of mosquitoes. Place is not as advertised at all. Pool is a lot smaller than pictured. Owner walks around the place and should be ashamed of himself! Taking people’s money when place is nothing like photos. This place is disgusting and not want you want on a holiday! Would never recommend this place to anyone! We walked out and went to stay at another place plus they refuse a refund of course.

We stayed at Tropicana for a week in August. We chose this hotel as we needed a kitchen and a separate bedroom, both of which it had. The size of our two bedroom apartment was fantastic and the crockery and saucepans seemed to be brand new.

Unfortunately, this is where the positives ended for us. Everything seemed too hard for the staff at Tropicana. Our package included plunger coffee and a continental breakfast of fruit. 3 out of 7 mornings we were told the plunger was “broken.” Unless a plunger is smashed on the floor, how does it break? It was pure laziness and the staff did not want to make coffee. 2 of our mornings we were told there was no fruit.

We requested extra washing up detergent, milk, oat milk (which had been served on previous days) and a few breakfast items such as bacon, to which we were told on every occasion, they had none.

The shower was not nice. We came out of the shower feeling more dirty than when we went in. The bathroom towels were revolting.

Do not get me started on the beds… all you had to do was blink and it sounded like an earthquake. The bed was rock hard and the sound resembled sleeping on plastic bottles.

We ended up going to other resorts and using their facilities for the day (restaurants and pools) and the staff seemed surprised we were doing this and not using the facilities at Tropicana.

Getting a bus to and from Tropicana was very easy.

We had the best family holiday in Vanuatu, just not at Tropicana.

The staff was very kind and helpful, but there were several problems. 1) They did not have our correct booking so one of our rooms wasn't ready. 2) The hot water heaters didn't have batteries. 3) One room only had one towel for three people. More towels were requested but never came. 4) The fridge didn't work. 5) It advertised a/c but the bedrooms didn't have a/c. Only the main living area. 6) The shower leaked severely all over the bathroom floor. The view was lovely, but the efficiency of the apartments were severely lacking, making it a somewhat frustrating stay. :(

The staff was lovely, the grounds was well kept, the rooms need work, all the guests I met complained about their rooms, all of us had to have our rooms changed. Ants crawling in lines on the walls, one room has glass shutters falling off, the lagoons isn’t as nice looking as in the pictures. The restaurant food is over priced for what your get, the food wasn’t good but without other choices near by they purposely overcharge. I would never recommend to anyone.

I was extremely disappointed with Tropicana Lagoon Apartments. There's two things you ask for when you travel a good bed and a decent shower, both were below par at this property. Mould in the showers, dirty dirty bathroom. Bed was hard as a rock, no additional bedding or pillows. Apartments serviced every other day, no fresh towels, milk, coffee or basic needs. I would not recommend this property to anyone. If we could have changed to another property we would have in a heartbeat. It's not as advertised!!!!

This property is on a Lagoon and to go to a beach with the ocean is a little bid difficult. You should consider to rent a car. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They showed me how to stop the little buses , where you can reach the city and also one nice beach. They have a wonderful garden and a small pool is also there. It was a pleasant stay.

On going maintenance is constantly needed due to climate and age of buildings. We had a comfortable stay though. Staff were helpful and provided the few items missing from our room. Only a short walk from a big supermarket and a local produce market.

There was no shuttle to town, had to get transport ourselves, TV only had 2 channels and internet hardly working. No access in the rooms and password constantly changed

Property has a nice pool and restaurant on site. Need to take a bus or hire a car to get anywhere else (other than to the little supermarket about a 5 minute walk away).
Rooms are in dire need of an upgrade, beds are super squeaky, mattresses are not very comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom especially needs to be fixed as even though they're cleaned daily look dirty. Bathroom floods with every shower as the water leaks from the shower.
Staff are lovely, Kim the manager is more than happy to help with what's around or organise transport, always a smile on her face. The ladies who clean the rooms are super friendly and do the best they can.

This review is made in the following context:
1.Our to stay at Tropicana Lagoon Apartment was about 5 weeks after Vanuatu was hit by 2 devastating cyclones;
2.Vanuatu is a poor and an undeveloped country and therefore ease of access to modern comfort is limited.
We stayed 7 days and was allocated a family room opposite the pool. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Kim the site manager. She was the perfect hostess for the whole duration of our stay.
With respect to the room facilities, the air conditioning units are old and not of acceptable working standard if was in Australia. However, this is Vanuatu. We set the temperature to 16 C and with the assistance of the ceiling fan, they provided sufficient comfort. Like the a/c the refrigerator works but is not of acceptable working standard. It was erratic and there were days when the fridge did not work. In the final days we discovered that the adaptor used to plug the refrigerator is loose. Finally, the shower tap leaked. Having made the above remarks, overall, our stay was pleasant and comfortable.

Very disappointed - nothing like the website photos, very old, dated and more like a backpackers. A very costly exercise - we only stayed one night and lost money on 6 nights due to it being inside their cancellation policy. Very convenient for them seeing that it looks like a regular occurrence where guest check in and leave (without their money). You cant swim in the lagoon and it's far from town. Stay away.

Small quiet resort. Good meals in the restaurant. Kim in the office went out of her way to help us.
Small things could improve the stay - soap in the bathrooms, fresh towels without having to request them etc. Air conditioning unit struggled so room was warm - although cooler than outside temperature.
Beds were uncomfortable to the point our son slept on the living room furniture.

If you’re looking for a quiet holiday this will suit you perfectly. The staff were super helpful and friendly. And though the chef was sick a couple of times, when we ate at the restaurant the food was fresh and enjoyable.
Looking for an exciting night life forget it.
The rooms were bright and clean but could benefit from a renovation.
Kim the manager couldn’t do enough to help us.

property only recently reopened after covid but they have done a good job getting ready. the managers kim and freddy do such a great job looking after the guests they really do go above and beyond. they make great food in their small restaurant really worth a try. only thing to note compared to website is that there is no oven or washing machine in the rooms and wifi is turned on and off to the room so if its a last minute booking you may not have wifi. Seems this is an operational decision to save a few dollars as they progress . hopefully the owner will come up with a better option as its really the only negative thing about the place.

This resort is small and has a laid back 'beach shack' vibe. I really loved staying here and felt at home and at ease with the lovliest staff who work there. Rooms are tidy and comfortbale with everything you need for your stay. Would recommend for a chilled out holiday.

Even though we were only a 10min drive away from town, we appreciated how quiet it was. Felt like we weren’t on mainland but on an island. The lagoon was amazing! Best thing to look at first thing in the morning. Pictures don’t do it justice and the staff were a bonus! So lovely and always willing to help whenever we needed. 10/10

Loved our apartment on the lagoon, so tranquil and beautiful. The resort has undergone renovation and has excellent facilities now. We loved the new StandUp Paddleboards. The resaturant offers very good food, my husband had the best steak ever ( he claims). Service can be a little slow but who cares, we’re on holidays. Overall a very nice place not far from town.

Wonderful staff, very friendly and involved with our stay, took a personal interest in us and what we were doing, caring and helpful (eg took an interest when I was unwell 1 day and helped get our clothes dry when we had wet weather), loved talking to the staff about Vanuatu and their village life, cleaners made our room beautiful with fresh cut flowers from the gardens and made us a special towel 'cat' when we were leaving.

Not a great experience, place feels dated and no atmosphere. They downgraded our room on check in, restaurant service poor, many items not available, shower cold. The staff were apologetic, but not much they could do. I don’t like leaving a bad review but hoping to save others the muck around. We stayed one night and then moved down the road to a much better place.

Positive experience at Tropicana Lagoon

I enjoyed a very pleasant stay with Tropicana Lagoon. I was there to attend Oceania Melanesian Athletics Championships 2018 at Korman Stadium as my son was competing for Australia, and the Tropicana’s location was perfect for this. The room I had was great although the air conditioner was not working all the time. The hotel was clean and I enjoyed the swimming pool. I thought the free wifi offered as part of the deal was also great as the wifi speed was very good. The staff was excellent - always so helpful with nice smiles. Overall - a very positive experience for my first ever visit to Vanuatu and I would definitely return to Tropicana Lagoon again.

We had a lovely week at tropicana. It was quiet, relaxed and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Being able to jump in a kayak most mornings for a bit of exercise was great and my son could even fish off the beach in front of our unit. Everything we needed :)

The condition of the 2 bedrooms apartment is below standard. one room without air condition and the air conditioners are old and without proper maintenance. The services is fine, staff are helpful and friendly.

Great place to relax

The staff were incredibly helpful and great at providing the support or advise necessary so we could do the things we wanted to do. The setting was picturesque and peaceful, the food delicious - as good as any restaurant in town with the menu changing daily and we would love to stay there gain. The over water dining was a great way to start and end the day.

Nice resort but food and service in the restaurant needs to be improved. We had to go to other resorts to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. My two bedroom unit had 3 rodents who leaves their droppings everywhere. Fridge and shower keeps leaking. Contenantal break fast was terrible, there wasn't enough food for 3 people.

One of the best room views, very peaceful location

The hotel is in a resort format with a lagoon right in front of it in which you can swim or do some boating. The room is spacious with a step out large balcony. The hotel is a few kilometres outside the city and is good value for money. The WiFi has limited coverage and is mostly available near the reception. The room has its own kitchen with cutlery and one can become really comfortable if they bring food and supplies. A very nice choice if you want to stay in this hotel for a few days.

Basic resort in great location.

This Resort is adequate at best. Wonderful location but rooms basic and have not been
maintained. Definitely not 4 Star as advertised 2 Star at best. Staff friendly. Breakfasts
Good in delightful setting. Arriving early hours only Security on duty, no assistance with
luggage, room not clean, no blankets on beds or in room. No key available for Safe and
no 2nd key for room. No telephone but WiFi free and good. No fresh milk or bottled
water supplied. Gas stove corroded and very difficult to use. Shower leaked all over
Bathroom floor. Kayaks free but in poor condition. Pool small but clean.
Staff doing a reasonable job obviously without a lot of assistance or funds.

Apartment right on the lagoon. Beautiful views.

Its a nice but basic place to stay. All of the staff are beautiful people and helpful except for just one girl that was quite rude and gave the impression she didn't want to be there.
The restaurant has some great meals but breakfast is very limited. The are cooking facilities in the rooms though. A shop within walking distance to get most of what you need and to go to town just walk to end of driveway and get a bus almost straight away.

We loved staying at the Tropiana Lagoon Apartments: Staff was so lovely and caring, always smiling and making an effort to make you feel welcomed. Breakfast food was always fresh and all foods served with exceptional presentation.
A short walk to a big supermarket if you are after preparing some of the food yourself, but far enough that you never felt near the road.
View of the lagoon is beautiful from the restaurant and they have free kayaks available for a paddle along the lagoon.

Really nice Melanesian buffet and show on Sundays. Location is a bit out of way but easy to catch local mini buses on road for only a few bucks.

Pictures on website looked nice but on arrival the room looked somewhat different (pictures were of single units).
Mouldy shower, poor water control, and toilets that did not flush well did not make it for nice stay. Pool was nice for kids. Kayaking in the lagoon was good.
Staff were generally very nice but there was only one incompetent dude, who stuffed up our orders and tried to rip us off at least four times (by choice or incompetence). Luckily my math is up to scratch and the dude even managed to rip himself off. Meals were generally okay if you didn't want to go further or to town but meal prices in Vanuatu are too high to be good value.
Overall experience at the hotel was little bit disappointing.

Tropicana Lagoon Apartments is an awesome destination for a Vanuatu holiday. Ideally located ten minutes out of town, on the Second Lagoon, it is a peaceful, tranquil holiday destination. The staff are always friendly and ready to help in any way they can, from calling for a bus, to organising clean washing or room service, they were a pleasure (I wanted to bring one home!). Though not as fancy as Australian 4* resorts, the downfalls were overlooked by the great location and service. An easy trip into Port Vila put you at the doorstop to any missing amenities, but was unnecesary most of the time due to the willingness of tour companies to pick up direct from the Apartments, and the close proximity of other restaurants.

Hotel was clean and tidy, but poorly sound proofed. The barking of the dogs from across the lagoon at night was not very pleasant.
The staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful and had always a smile on their faces. The food was great! The sauces are to die for (yummy!).

Attractive setting by lagoon

Stayed in a two bedroom apartment by the pool - beds were comfortable and rooms spacious. Shared bathroom was clean and functional. Easy access to pool and little restaurant/bar overlooking the lagoon. All in good condition and comfortable.

Stayed in this hotel twice while visiting Vanuatu recently and although the location is beautiful, staff very friendly and rooms clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated I wouldn't recommend anyone going here unless there are reports that the kava drinking locals have found somewhere else to frequent. I know it is the culture of the people to drink kava but there is a time and place for everything and outside the bedroom window of paying guests at 2am is neither the time nor the place. The owner of this property needs to decide where his loyalties lie - whether he wants to encourage overseas holiday makers or provide a nice spot on the lagoon for his friends to hoik and spit away their nights. Although we would love to return as the service and staff are wonderful we will think long and hard before staying again and certainly wouldn't recommend it to friends or family

Friendly staff

Very warm and friendly establishment. Well run by Flora who keeps everyone on their toes. Had a problem with the hot water supply and when it couldn't be resolved quickly we were moved to the room next door - nothing too much trouble. Great restaurant with chief chef Abel - marvelous cook - and friendly staff lead by Sheilah and Paul. Many thanks for the farewell note and flowers in the room Sheilah, a very nice touch, good luck with the new baby. Rooms well designed and tastefully decorated. Now comes the \"but\" and it's a big one. Don't go here if you aren't happy to have Kava drinking locals hoiking and spitting outside your bedroom window at 2am. The owner needs to decide if he is running a family hotel for overseas visitors or a Kava drinking watering hole for his friends and locals - believe me, the two aren't compatible

nice room and pool enjoyed the kyaks

We enjoyed our stay. Some of the staff were a bit inconsistent in the restaurant although their always seemed to be alot of staff. We did enjoy the lunch and thought it was very good value for money. The evening meal could be a bit overpriced. the room was comfortable and had everything we needed.
