A little disappointed, the ice maker was inoperative, the refrigerator was very noisy and the bath tub did not have a bath mat in the tub. The tub was very slippery, we had to make sure we held on to faucet or wall for fear of falling.

We enjoyed our stay but there were a couple things I thought could be better. Our room had a strange musty smell to it. I tried to make coffee and realized that the coffee pot was cracked. Luckily, they have tea packets in the rooms so I had that instead. I wanted a Mountain View room but my balcony view was the back of the large kids slide instead with fencing. I also wish there were more places to eat around the grounds that had decent food. I didn’t want to have to leave the property but had to often.

Overall we have a great time when we come here. I’m not sure what had happened last time we had to wait over an hour for our room to be ready. Not so easy with a car full of food because we were not wanting to leave the property after arriving. Not being able to settle in to are rooms was not so great and having to wait in a long line also . I’m sure everyone was doing their best but rooms should be ready for guests to arrive. Check out time should have been accommodated . Also make sure to bring kitchen supplies if you’re planning to use the kitchen. Also bring your own towels and wash if necessary because they might not give you more. They do not clean your room while you’re staying there either so also plan to pick up after yourself and take out your trash.

Our stay was nearly perfect. We had two issues. The first was that during our six day stay, not once did housekeeping come to clean, even when I specifically called and asked for service (and I made sure to remove the privacy tag from the door). The second was the unit next to us partied until 1am on their patio (up to when we called security). Both were resolved by staff. Thank You, Han, at the front desk. We will definitely return to The Welk for vacation. The amenities, staff, and well-equipped units make it worth the trip.

Love the scenery the rooms were clean love the amenities fireplace pool game room. the downside was that the walls are super thin on our last night we had neighbors next to us they were banging loud party so much noise from 1am until 4am at least that’s when we just went to sleep wanted to complain but too tired to look for the # they should post there # in the room. Other then Thin walls we enjoyed our stay but glad it was the last night so your getaway could be ruined depending on your neighbor

This place is amazing for families and a great place to relax and have many activities. We went to the zoo, safari park, beach, and sea world. The drive isn’t difficult. The Monday farmers market is amazing. The only down side was the WiFi and service for T-Mobile wasn’t great

When we arrived for checkin at 4pm, there was a long line and we were told our room would be ready at 5:30pm. We have two small kids and when I pressed them, they “found” a room. We then had to get a parking permit, which you have to get from the timeshare sales desk and is how they try to get you to hear their timeshare pitch. When we got to our room, the shower drain was filled with hair. The space itself was dated and some of the furniture didn’t quite fit in the room. In the morning, we got to the pool when it opened, and one of the two pools were closed. The water slide wasn’t open either. They also made us keep giving our room number to get pool towels because they said people keep stealing them. We were going to stay another day but decided to head home.

Such a wonderful experience for our family! We had such a fun time at all the different pools and recreation centers. The villa had a stackable washer/dryer, dishes, cooking utensils, pots, pans and other useful kitchen appliances. It really felt like a home away from home. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Would love to visit again!

It’s practically turn key everything we needed plus more was in the condo. Full kitchen, bath, washer/dryer, 2tv’s , couch bed, dining area and patio with 2 large rocking chairs. Very quiet, beautiful hilly grounds. Take your walking shoes or be prepared to drive around the grounds depending on where your room is located. The canyon grill was good food and drink, couple snack shops, not much to do but pools and relaxing but close to San Diego for entertainment if that’s what your looking for

Check-in was extremely frustrating and took over 1 hr and 20 mins to get through the line, and it was clear others had been waiting even longer. What made it more difficult was seeing several employees at the desks not actively helping guests; some were on their phones or chatting, and even a manager appeared to be focused on tidying the desk area instead of assisting with the growing line.

After finally checking in, I was directed to the concierge desk for a parking pass, which was unexpected. There, several employees were gathered and it was a forced review of the timeshare offerings and amenities, which I did not sign up for. By that point, my kids had been waiting nearly 2 hours after a long travel day, which made the experience especially frustrating.

The room itself was comfortable and we did enjoy the pool areas. However, some of the policies and operations felt inconvenient. For example, not being allowed to bring pool towels back to the room meant walking back in 65-degree, windy weather without staying warm. In addition, the market was closed, and it was difficult to get into the restaurant since it was the only dining option available. The TVs were also quite outdated and antiquated. There was no option to sign in to streaming services - including screencast - a basic expectation at all hotels for vacation and work travel.

Overall, we did have a good vacation, but largely because we chose to spend most of our time off the resort.

I won't recommend this hotel.

This place was very clean and well maintained. The unit was well stocked with everything you need (coffee, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, etc.). We used the pool and jacuzzi. Took free pickleball lessons and stretch class offered. Listened to live evening music. We felt very safe and secure.

The grounds were nicely kept but the staffing was greener than the well kept shrubs. What a cheesy place. Our room wasn’t ready, only one monopolized restaurant with exorbitant prices that didn’t match the menu or the waiters. Very unpolished. We had a villa with no ice….no ice anywhere! Waited one hour and the housekeeper just walked right into our room!!! Watch out for the golf carts. They drive like crazy all over the lots, like they own the place. We had a lovely Mountain View but that’s about the highlight. Rooms are outdated and coming apart at the seams. We were outa there by 4:45AM day two.

My family and I love coming here at this Welk , it’s very close to home plus live the location . This Weekend was a nice for my husband and I with no grandkids, we both enjoyed coming just to getaway and enjoy a nice quiet weekend We had a wonderful dinner meal and drinks and the bar enjoyed talking to other guests staying there as well with the bartender she she very nice and friendly.

This place is always a 5 star ⭐️ 👌the beds and sheets are always nice and clean always get to have a nice sleep.
Rooms always look nice and comfortable and clean.
Very relaxing place, Just booked our 4 days and 3 nights can’t wait to come back .

Great place for kids and family a lot of activities to do San Diego is only 44 away with great beaches and museums but honestly, you do not need to leave the resort. There’s plenty activities to do on the site when you get there there’s a map. There’s also a plan of activities they do throughout the week. There’s a winery next-door. I always have a great selection of wines. I can’t put everything into this one paragraph but I will give this place a 10 out of 10.

This property was beautiful and
the rooms were great. Pool staff very nice. The things we did not like about this location was the front desk staff and the restaurant. After driving 9 hrs with a 9,7and 3 yr old we were ready to relax in the room. We arrived 3:30 (check in is at 4) they informed us room wasn’t ready so gave us key to explore the grounds( she was very pleasant) and informed us they would give us a text to come back for keys. By 5:10 still no text so called front desk and was put on hold and then came back on to say room was ready.When I arrived I asked why no text and how long room has been ready and was told your here now and let’s just finish getting you checked in. I at this point was not upset just a question because we had been waiting so long so he asked for the key back they gave to explore the grounds and upon giving it to him he just tossed key aside as I was bothering him. At this point now I was a little upset at his demeanor. I told him I don’t appreciate the way he is handling this as it was on them that they I believe forgot to text us. He responded again since you are standing here now let’s just get this done. As for the restaurant for 1hr no one answered phone to order out. When someone finally answered put on hold 20 min. Hung up called back said was very busy ordered our food went to pickup food and there were only 3 tables with guests. There was going to be a wedding there that weekend and they were the first priority in my thoughts.

The property is well maintained. Family activities were plentiful. To get around on the property a \"taxi\" type (golf cart) service is provided. Very handy amenity given the size. Oddly rooms for non timeshare holders are stacked 3 to a building where the 1st floor is below ground level. The view is a solid wall. U want the middle or upper level room w/ a view. Customer srvc chngd my rm w/ no problem.

The resort could use a little bit of an update. It’s very tired looking. A shower did not drain at all. The sink drains in the bathroom would not pop up. The hours of the pool slides were either not open except 11-4 and we’re a bit confusing. We were told one thing one day made an effort to leave Legoland the next day to get there before closing and it wasn’t opened, but they were nice and sent us to the other slide and the young man working there kept it open for a few minutes so our four-year-old granddaughter could at least go down twice. The grill restaurant was nice and so was the live music they had on the patio would be nice if they had coffee available early in the morning somewhere so you could get it before you leave for your sightseeing of the day restaurant didn’t open until at least eight .

The only bummer was there is no in room dining service which is something we like to do while on vacation but it was easy enough to order something from a delivery service. The room was great and very clean we had a great time and would recommend for families for sure!

We chose this hotel mainly because of the water slide, but unfortunately it has been out of service since yesterday afternoon with no prior notice. The room also had an overwhelmingly strong disinfectant smell that made the stay very uncomfortable.

We were told we were being moved to an “upper level,” but the room actually felt more like a semi-basement, and there was almost no cell phone signal. On top of that, the hotel Wi-Fi was completely down from last night through this morning.

For a family-oriented hotel, a 10 AM checkout time is also surprisingly inconvenient. Overall, the experience did not match the expectations or the price paid.

From the concierge, Leo, to the firepits to the pools to the gym. I could go on and on but all you need to know is this resort is one of the biggest and best I have stayed at.

We loved it here. Had a room on the golf course. It was a one bedroom. It took a long time to check in, as there was only one person at the desk and everyone had lots of questions. A 25 minute wait in line was too long. We did have yo climb up a bunch of stairs and the go down another 2 flights to our room. Carrying luggage was awful, no elevators. We finally went out the patio to our car which saved a lot of frustration.
We golfed at both courses. Had a blast. Very convenient and inexpensive. Course was well kept and pace was good. We had a bit of issue when checking in for golf. The cart guy was too busy playing on his phone to help us. We asked for ice and he said the machine didn’t work and never gave us an alternative.
We went to the grill one afternoon after golf. Again, the service sucked. We literally had to search for hostess (she was talking to 3 people in kitchen). This happened all 3 times we visited.
Our late lunch was so-so. My husband like the tacos my hamburger was dry and blah. Over priced.
One morning before golf we went there and ordered a chicken and cheese quesadilla. It was delicious! Ate half and took the other half for a snack during our round of golf.
We had dinner at the canyon grille and the food was excellent. I had salmon and sweet pea risotto. Husband had steak dinner and he said it way delish.
We had to call a few times for restock of coffee, and sugar. No answer at front desk so we texted for assistance.

Upon arrival, we were directed to a separate “concierge” desk simply to obtain a parking pass. Unfortunately, this interaction became one of the most uncomfortable parts of our stay. Rather than being welcomed by someone knowledgeable about the resort and its amenities, we were subjected to what felt like aggressive timeshare solicitation. We were assigned a second-floor room without being informed that there were no elevators on property. In our room we had visible splatter on mirrors and sinks, surfaces that appeared unwiped, smears on the refrigerator, and a dining surface that did not appear properly cleaned. The following morning, when opening the shower for first use, we found debris on the shower floor and a visible black hair hanging from one of the shampoo/body wash dispensers. The pool area was overcrowded with insufficient seating as everyone flooded to the one pool with the operating slide. The towel sign-in/sign-out procedure made it impractical for families needing to transport wet children back to their rooms. There is a rock-climbing activity our children were excited for, only to discover reservations were required—something never disclosed by the “concierge” or on their resort materials/guides. There is an advertised theater that was closed on Saturday night—arguably one of the busiest family evenings of the week. Property is beautiful. Beware- check out is 10am. So early for a \"vacation club\"

I have stayed at the Welk before, & enjoyed myself...But this trip, there were a couple of incidents that made it less than perfect. A member of my party wanted to use the grill located about 20 feet away from my villa. I had called 3 times(twice 1 day & once the next)to the Maintenance department for that grill to be cleaned.
It was never cleaned!! But a Welk rep did come out to take a picture, why? I have no clue. On one of the times I'd called, the rep said there was a miscommunication because there was a report that someone was using the grill. This caused my party to completely change our dinner menu!
Perhaps with the Summer season fast approaching, it will be wise to have a system in place that creates a ticket for each request, then make sure to follow up with the guest!!

Don't make assumptions!!!

Also, the sliding Screen door from the living room onto the balcony should be checked/ oiled. The screen was EXTREMELY difficult to open and close!

Again...these two hiccups made our trip less than what I came to expect from the Welk.

I loved the villas. They were very spacious and had all of the important amenities for my stay - microwave, stove with oven, coffee maker and full sized refrigerator. It even had kitchen items like pots & pans, dinnerware and tableware. The bathroom and bedroom was spacious and the living room was nice and quaint. I had a patio.

My villa was downstairs. I wish there was an elevator because my luggage was heavy.

I didn’t visit the store/market. I did visit Canyon Grille. The food was good but service was a little slow. My waitress and the greeter were super nice but it seemed like they were understaffed.

I liked the fitness facility. I don’t use the pool.

The outdoor seating areas were nice.

I visited their farmer’s market and it was excellent.

My overall stay was magnificent.

We Had stayed here for a wedding near the hotel we. Stayed for two days and the rooms we had were in excellent condition except for one room. we had the bathroom ceiling that had a leak but the staff upgraded us to an amazing luxury suite with all amenities, jacuzzi tube full kitchen two fire places and very large shower

we would definitely stay here again the property has about 4.5 acres, and they have multiple pools and golf course throughout the property

the check-in process was a little lengthly though and there’s not too many restaurants nearby the property or stores, unless you travel 20 min away

but the hotel has a restaurant with a decent breakfast lunch menu and anything you may need for the pools is on site as well its great for family’s with kids over all. 4-5 Stars

Everything closes super early. We got back from my daughter’s soccer tournament like around 4 or 5 and the waterslide was already closed. Stores close at 7 and nothing is near by. No store near by. There was a couple staff member walking around but didn’t interact. My daughter got yelled at for being a bag of chips to the pool area. The BBQ grill had no propane and when we called for one they never came out. Towels took forever to get to us. I pulled out the sofa bed and it was dirty with crumbs from who knows when. Also shower had writing on the glass door. It was a nice place to stay at and would stay there again but I’m hoping it will be better.

We had a late check in at 5pm there was a line out the door so we decided to have dinner and come back to check in later. We came back at 8pm and the line looked the same by the time that we checked in. It was a whole hour waiting in line. I was told that we were going to get comped the resort fee of $75 and I just saw that I was charged the $75 resort fee.

This resort has so much to offer all ages. Perfect for our family and all groups. Our
2 bedroom unit is very large and the best part is the lage balcony with the fabulous view :)
We are already planning our next visit!

The room itself was nice, spacious, and as advertised.

We stayed here for a wedding weekend and suggested to our guests that they stay here too. I checked in 11:30 at night on Thursday and it took 25 minutes in line before I got checked in. We learned from numerous guests that it took up to 2 hours for them to check in… not great. The best part is that on our check out day, housekeeping knocked on our door at 9:40 am, we said we would be out at 10. We looked out the peep hole and realized she was standing there waiting. At 10 on the dot she knocked again. Frustrating that check in was so time consuming but they waste no time in kicking you out.

My check in supposed to be at 4 and the room was ready until 7pm… and it is incredible that with just a sorry it’s been super busy! The justification! I was with another two groups our room was not ready.. our schedule for dinner and everything was moved because of that. And the receptionist ask us to leave the room at 10am. With no consideration of the almost 4 hours of delay!!!

Our stay was enjoyable. The room was not the cleanest. We discovered carrots under the side table, several cobwebs in the corners of the room and the water in the bathtub trickled out.
The sheets were really clean and tucked in nice and tight. The coffee was stacked and nice to have in the morning. There was even creamer!
The pool was pleasantly heated, and there's so many choices of which ones to go to. Love that they had food available for purchase and a bonus. If you have children, they offer you sun lotions, glasses and little items for the sun for children.
The staff is fun and really kind. They really took the time to talk and explain answers to any questions we had.
All and all it was a good stay.

This is a great resort for a family or extended family stay-cation. With many pools, golf, a fishing pond, rec center for the kids, and daily activities, everyone can find something to do. Escondido is a quaint burb of San Diego with many cool breweries and wineries for the grownups. Would recommend to anyone with kids looking for a low key vacation of a week or less.

Everything was very nice if you’re going to the pool go to the mountain pool that is the sales area so it is kept much nicer and cleaner than other pools on property overall, it was a great experience

Property is well maintained and very clean. The wifi is not secured and I was told that that is going to be a major undertaking by the resort as they are going through renovations and upgrade. There's are activities for the entire family within the resorts, such as golf (unfortunately, I don't play golf), rec room (but the pool tables are very old and needs new felt and cue sticks are old), swimming pool water were warm enough to swim in.
