Hotel Aalders was so wonderful that I was shocked that we could stay at such a beautiful place for the price! The Art Deco paneling in our room was lovely, the tall windows with their small leaded panes original to the house. The bathroom was huge, with a bathtub. Perfectly clean and spacious. I wish I could add pictures!

Great location, clean environment, wonderful and welcoming staffs, and the hotel provided little things that made it feel like home and more (free morning/afternoon snack and convenient water station at the lobby, great smelling shampoo and soap, daily housekeeping). We love our stay and won't hesitate to come back!

Absolutely loved everything about this hotel! It is located on a quiet residential street right in the Museum Quarter. There is a tram right around the corner making it very convenient to get around. The city is also very walkable so it in walking distance to lots of restaurants, shopping, and attractions. The room was spotless and while updated, the hotel has the original charm of the older building. At first I was a little wary about dropping my key at the front desk every time I left but It was actually very convenient to not have to think about it when I was out and about. The hotel staff were very friendly, taking the time to show us on a map how to get to different attractions, their local recommendations, and tips for getting around. I will definitely be staying here again!

The staff here were great, friendly and responsive, and the hotel itself is adorable and clean. Close to museums, but a bit of a walk (or short tram ride) to the city center. The area around the hotel is very nice though, and not overrun with folks walking around.

A very nice small hotel

The neighborhood is quiet. The hotel is quiet. Our room was across from breakfast area and never heard a thing.
It is a beautiful old house and the staff was always smiling and helpful. Our room was small but so are most of Europe’s hotels I’ve seen. The location is great. Don’t miss the Burger Room two blocks away. It is great as well.

The hotel is conveniently located in Museumplein, and the tram stops are within a few minutes’ walk away. The staff were all very nice and helpful, the rooms and common areas were were well-maintained especially considering the age of the building! This was a great hotel and easy to get to from the airport. They allowed us the leave our luggage before check in and provided ice water when you walk in the door. Staff are very friendly and provided us with a city map of where to find local places.

Excellent location within few minutes from museums, restaurants, bus stop that takes you to the airport, shopping. We were able to walk everywhere including Amsterdam central. Beautiful historical building, clean room, nice size bathroom, very warm room which was important for January stay. Nice breakfast included with our stay, friendly staff, they even have umbrellas for these rainy days, you can also rent bikes at the hotel for entire day but we didn't get a chance to try it. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Cozy, welcoming hotel in a great location

Perfect location in Amsterdam’s museum district. The Van Gogh museum, MoCo, etc. are a a three minute walk. Close to tons of shopping, restaurants, and cafes, as well as Vondelpark. The reception is cozy and welcoming. There is fresh water and an honor bar available. You must leave your key when exiting. Hotel staff were kind and knowledgeable about the area. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom was bigger than we anticipated. We paid more than we typically would because it was the height of the holiday season and everything available was pricey but felt very happy with our choice.

Odd that you have to leave your room key with reception whenever leaving the property. Also have to buzz to enter from theoutside, though they have always opened the door within seconds. Bathroom had a foul smell of what seemed like sewage or stale water.

Overall, we really liked the Hotel Aalders. The location was great -- on a nice quiet street, yet just a couple blocks from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, and an easy walk from Leidseplein with abundant restaurant and night life opportunities. Also, several tram and bus lines stop just a block away. The hotel is in an older building, but is charming and is clean and well maintained. And, fortunately, it has an elevator, unlike some older hotels in Amsterdam. The breakfast is decent.
Our room (deluxe comfort) was comfortable and big enough for our purposes. Only real complaint was the lack of an in-room refrigerator, so we couldn't store snacks or left-overs, or buy our own cold drinks from the store. That may have been their point, because they sell drinks downstairs in their \"honesty bar.\" Those items were not unreasonably priced, but the selection is limited.
I think it would also be good if they updated their rooms with modern key cards, but we got used to using the old fashioned key and leaving it at the desk when we went out.
It's kind of an expensive place, but Amsterdam hotels are just plain expensive, so relative to other places we might have booked, it was a good value.

Lovely property in an amazing location - close to key attractions and with direct public transport links from/to the airport.

Staff members have been very welcoming, kind and helpful.

The room I had was cleaned to a high standard and had all necessities provided.

One thing I would add is a full body length mirror - maybe it was just might room without it (single room).

I would definitely recommend it and would stay again.

Hotel Aalders is the perfect place to stay in Amsterdam! Situated in the museum district, it is an easy walk to major museums, parks, shopping and transportation. The area is quiet and upscale. Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Aalders, got the small deluxe single room. Room was clean, bed was comfy, toilet is spacious (with good water pressure and hot water), room was made everyday, windows can be opened, had a kettle and 2 usb plugs for your devices!

Staff were super friendly and around 24/7 for u to drop off/pick up your keys, they even gave me a not and a small bottle of prosecco on my last night!

Located less than a 5min walk to tram 2/12 and the airport express bus, its super convenient to get around, and also near the major musuems!

I have nothing but good things to say about my stay!

Affordable in comparison to other choices in this area, customer focused, personal service. All the staff including cleaning staff were great but RORY deserves a special mention. He shared lots of useful information as well as the history of the property. They are planning additional renovations in the lobby in December. My suggestion- capitalize on your family history, it's what makes this hotel special. Note- we did standard room and it IS European small/ tiny. But a great base to walk to Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum and canals.

The hotel is in a surprisingly quiet residential area quite close (blocks) to the museums and a tram station-really perfect for a visit to Amsterdam. There are lots of restaurants in easy walking distance, as well as canal tour and bike rentals. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed the ample breakfast, and honor bar.

Wonderful Stay - First Time in Amsterdam

The Staff of Hotel Aalders was wonderful for our first stay in Amsterdam. The Staff were friendly and accommodating to any and all requests. The hotel is in a wonderful location in the Museum District with a short walk to tram/bus stops, which open up all of Amsterdam. The hotel is perfectly positioned to visit the wonderful Museums such as Van Gogh and Moco. I would encourage anyone seeking a convenient and comfortable place to stay to visit Hotel Aalders

The Hotel Aalders was a block away from two of Amsterdam's top museums so it was an easy walk to Vermeer and Van Gogh enhibits. The staff was friendly and always available to help. The nice quiet neighborhood, closeness to restaurants made this an ideal location. I highly recommend this hotel location.

I had a great stay at the Aalders. The person who checked me in was very friendly and took time to go over an area map with me giving me many recommendations on where to eat, where to go etc. The room was tiny (par for the course in Amsterdam) but comfortable for sleeping. The hotel has a very old-world vibe—you leave your key at the front desk when you leave for example. I found it all very charming. The location is fantastic—only a few blocks from the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum and the Stedelijk. Yet the block the museum is on is quiet, peaceful and elegant. If you intend to see the major art museums the location couldn’t be any better. There is a tram stop nearby making it easy to get to other parts of the city.

It’s very close to the tram stop which makes getting to anywhere in Amsterdam really easy. The bathroom was fantastic with a great shower. My only complaint is that the lighting in the room is dim even with all the lights on.

We had 2 rooms booked. One was recently updated, and very modern. But no air conditioning.
The other had vintage furniture and vintage bedspreads, but had an efficient AC. Europe has heat waves these days. AC is needed in all rooms.

Friendly family hotel in fantastic location

A beautiful hotel in a lovely area of Amsterdam. All staff were so friendly and helpful, most of all the lady who greeted us on our arrival (and was also there for checkout). Apologies we did not know your name! We were delighted to find a little balcony in our room, which was just lovely to gaze out over the quiet street. Location excellent for families, far enough away from the hustle bustle but within easy walking distance of all attractions. The Museumplein area was a delight to walk around in the evenings. Really easy access to the airport too with the airport express bus stop literally just around the corner. Room and en-suite were extremely clean. All essential items replenished during our stay too. We didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel but the smell as we left each morning was delicious! Would definitely recommend this hotel, particularly for those travelling as a family. Ask for the room above the breakfast room (no 24) and you won’t be disappointed. Also a massive thank you for the birthday treats that were left for my daughter… she was so delighted!
