Location is great. Rooms are miniscule and the small double that we had should be sold as a single room. Beds are comfy.
Hotels is overdue a refurbishment.
Bring slippers as they do not provide them and bedroom floors are dirty. Perhaps instead of a useless basket and basketball place some amenties in the room.
For the stylish boutique brand it aspires to be, it still has some work to do. Af the moment its a nice budget hotel with a mid market price.

Proximity to main destinations. Conveniency. Other than that, hotel rooms are what you pay for. Tiny, but charming. Hôtel is situated in a very calm and cute residential neighborhood, away from the noise. Yet, the tram stop is only 5 minutes away. In terms of hotel service, nothing stood out: normal. Pointing out our room was not cleaned or tidied up after day one. Just the towels were changed. Not even the cups for the tea or coffee. Otherwise, good experience.

Located in a quiet neighborhood, steps from the bus/metro and the Rijksmuseum. Easy access into the heart of Amsterdam. The rooms are small, but the bed was comfortable & there's decent storage/shelves. The room was clean, aside from the bathroom & shower having rust and cracked tiles. The toilet in our room was right up against a wall; luckily my spouse & I are short, because I truly do not know how anyone over 5' 8\" could sit comfortably on the toilet without having their knees crushed up against the wall in front of them. Might have just been a one off in the room we stayed in but it was a nuisance even for those of us with short stature. The front desk staff were all super nice and happily held our bags after we checked out and before we got on our evening train. Would stay here again for a short trip, not a long one.

The room was very dusty, it had not been cleaned well. It really needs a deep clean. They moved us to another room which was acceptable, but not great. We ended up buying some wipes and bleach and cleaning the room ourselves. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip, so not exactly what we wanted to be doing. I could not recommend this hotel, given the price. Location is good, but there are other options for a similar or lower price.

The only thing to be aware of about this property, as with many European buildings, is that the stairs are extremely steep. There is an elevator, but some levels still require that you are able to navigate them.

Love the quirkiness of the interiors, room was quite small, we were in the attic room, ok for our 3 night stay any longer and it would have felt quite cramped as there’s no seating area, only the bed. Breakfast was adequate with enough options, continental breakfast. Location great, nice quiet residential road but close to all the museums, transport and plenty of restaurants within an easy 8 min walk.

As a frequent traveler to Amsterdam, I can confidently say I’ll never stay at a Max Brown hotel again. While the beds were comfortable and the views nice, the negatives far outweighed the positives. Check-in was a nightmare — rude and unhelpful staff, and no notice of construction that woke us at 7 AM with drilling and hammering. The buildings have extremely steep stairs, making them impossible for anyone with bags or mobility issues. Locations are less convenient than advertised, and our room reeked of cigarette smoke because staff members were smoking at the entrance. Rooms also had stale air and little charm.

Max Brown hotels could be lovely, but the lack of service, transparency, and comfort makes them a hard no for me.

We changed to this property not long before we were due to go on our trip due to terrible reviews from the hotel we’d already booked.
So so so glad we did this! The hotel was beautiful (very steppy though so not great if your mobility isn’t good) although there is a lift inside but has many steps up to the building.
The staff were very friendly & helpful.
The rooms were very clean and loved the decor. The beds and pillows were the comfiest I’ve ever slept on I think!

I won’t lie, the room was VERY small, but enough for a single person and the bed was very comfortable. The location could not have been better, with very short walking access to Vondelpark and a stone’s throw from the Rijksmuseum. I liked how everything was in the heart of the museum quarter, shops nearby, in a quiet, safe and friendly area, very clean. The property was decent, quite pricey though, drinks in the room should have been complimentary - especially bottles of water. Room should have had a fridge. Two sockets in that room did not work and create unsafe fizzling sounds or it would charge my phone/laptop very slowly.

This property has a great location and the staff is very pleasant. The rooms, on the other hand, leave a lot to be desired. The beds are super small and really hard. The outlets are not convenient and the rooms are really tiny. The windows are often blocked, very drafty and difficult to close. We basically paid 400 Euro for a shoebox with 3 cots in it. I can’t say enough about the location but the rooms were overpriced and not comfortable at all.

Not worth it.

We booked the 2 double bed room. This is not a room which holds 4 people! There is one double bed and a sofa bed (which was made up upon arrival) There is no room for anything else. Also no fridge to store drinks incl milk. No long life milk provided either. The bathroom is also too small for 4 people. The staircase into the hotel is steep and absolutely no way to carry your cases up the stairs in the hotel. Only way up is via one lift. I wouldn’t stay here again. And then the kicker on checkout is the 10% tourist tax. Thanks Amsterdam.

We stayed in a standars double room. I t was possibly the smallest hotel room I ever stayed in. It was very hard for two people to move without bumping into each other. Bathroom was miniscule. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, but thw person sleeping on the inside had to crawl over the other person to get in and out.

This was a lovely hotel. The room was spacious and really nicely decorated.
The bed was so comfortable I never wanted to leave it, and there is Aircon. The shower needs a little upgrade but worked fine.
Quiet area and plenty of access to trams and nice little restaurants.

The property is quite good. The rooms are not cleaned regularly. And they have a ask only policy which is good but even after two days you ask, the rooms are not refreshed (no beds were made. Only fresh towels were provided (good) and dustbins cleaned (good). Their reception staff is amazing always ready to help. Loved them, they are the reason why I enjoyed the stay. The public transportation connection is great another great feature of this hotel, the lovely surroundings make it even more exceptional.

I know the rooms in Amsterdam hotels are small but this one is outright fraudulent.

We booked a medium room which was advertised at 16m2 (here and on their own website) but the room was barely 13m2 even if you ignore walls. There was also black mold on the window frames and the radiator couldn’t heat the room properly. Stay away!

I complained to hotels.com and the reception and I’m yet to receive a refund. The receptionist was friendly about the situation and tried to help but there were no other rooms available. We had to find a different hotel last minute with no help from either.

We had a great stay! Room was a little small but cozy. Room service every other day. Helpful and friendly staff. Great location central to the museums — about a 10/15 minute walk for food more towards the city center. Paid breakfast approx 16 euro (slightly cheaper if you book ahead for multiple days). We stayed for 4 nights in the hotel in October. The hotel was easy to get to from Schiphol Airport, with regular Train, Tram and bus links. We ended up catching the 397 bus which was efficient, quick and took us to within a street of the hotel.

The hotel itself looked great, with a lovely looking bar and reception area. The staff member who checked us in was friendly and told us everything we needed to know. There is a lift to all floors, however we used the quirky staircase which looks really cool.

The room itself is small, but we expected that from our research. It's well appointed with ensuite, comfy bed, tea/coffee machine and a TV. Plenty storage areas for clothing and luggage. The basketball hoop on the wall was quirky and it was fun throwing the ball through the hoop while getting ready.

The bed was very comfy, and the curtains and window shutters ensured a very good night's sleep. Handwash, shower gel and shampoo are all supplied and the rainfall shower was powerful and hot.

Minor points would be the basketball was a little worn and ripped, and the ensuite placement of the toilet doesn't leave room for maneouvre! This didn't detract from the stay and we really liked the room.

The hotel is very well placed for exploring Amsterdam. It is very close to the bars and restaurants at Leidesplein and, of course, the museums. There is loads to do.

To summarise, staff and property are excellent, we had a great time, and we will definately return.

It was located in the beautiful area near the museums and is convenient to every more of transportation you need. To top it off, each and every member of the staff excelled our expectations. Way too small room…

The room was WAY too small, specially for the price paid.
I’ve been to Amsterdam before and always stayed in chain hotels. For my birthday I wanted a boutique experience and selected this, it was a big disappointment the room felt like a hostel room. The wooden furniture didn’t have any finishing and instead of the rustic-eco feeling I believe they intended, it felt cheap… unfinished.
The bed, in a kind of bunk bed style felt cheap, with 3 walls surrounding it forcing couples to step over each others to enter or leave the bed.
The staff was nice and the location superb but next time I’ll stay in a chain hotel again.
