Great mid-range hotel. Good price for what it was, which was a clean, safe, private room and bathroom; no glitz or glam. This might seem like a lackluster review but I mean these things in a good way. Hotel is pretty much exactly what it claims to be and it's a great option for solo-travelers or folks on a budget.

Property: Door to the hotel is locked all times of day, only open with keycard or buzz in through the front desk, which felt safe. Check-in and out were easy. Location is great, right near Van Gogh Museum, Vondelpark, shopping, city center, everything. Hallways often had bags of housekeeping things (towels, sheets, etc) which makes it look a bit unkempt but it was fine.

Room: Bathroom and shower were small but fine. Came with a hairdryer. Housekeeping kept it tidy and stocked. No fridge or microwave in the room. Walls were paper-thin but no one was excessively loud. Stairs were super narrow and steep (as seems typical for Dutch buildings) but there is a lift that works fine.

The double room I was in was fine for one person though two would have been cramped but probably manageable. Location was great with a bus line direct to the airport right out front. Only downside was the wifi was pretty spotty for me. Would not recommend for remote work.

This place was decent. It worked for what we needed at the time, but I doubt I'll return. POSITIVE: location. NEGATIVE: in the first floor you cannot open the window since it's floor to ceiling and will open you up to the public so it's not safe/secluded, no AC, the bed was in poor condition, the TV doesn't work, and the toilet flush was not consistent.

The location was fantastic, walkable to the centre of Amsterdam and Museum quarter.
The hotel was nice and quiet and felt safe, yet just a stone's throw from the action, absolutely perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful, including the cleaners who refreshed the towels and bedding every day. The downsides were that were some maintenance/ upkeep issues (cracks and staining), & we didn't have hot water for a day (due to maintenance).

The only thing good about this hotel is its location. Other than that I can’t really say much my main concern was how dirty my room was, I think that anything from below the ankle and above eye level gets completely missed. Stayed in the outside annex- thick dust had to wipe the floor as my feet had dirt and pubes stuck to them, asked housekeeping to change my sheets only to be told at 1pm that he was finished for the day. Needs a good lick of paint and a bloody good clean. I removed my bed sheets on my departure, I wish I hadn’t now as I felt physically sick to find the pillows and duvet I had slept in for several days was covered in let’s say peoples bodily fluids yellow and red stains I’ll leave that to your imagination if this allowed pics I would of attached them. I did say to reception on checking out only for them to say I’ll get them to chuck it out and in my eyes a poor apology.

Great location near to the park and museums. Reception staff were friendly and stored our luggage on the final day. Decent sized room but a very tiny bathroom. The shower has no door so ends up flooding the whole bathroom. Room was not particularly clean, quite a lot of dust and dirty splashes on the furniture. Room did not get serviced during our 3 night stay but they did bring clean towels. Overall I wouldn’t really recommend this hotel, but if it’s your only option then it’s reasonably adequate.

The only positive was the location. The room and halls were so grubby (see attached photos). The room was noisy to both inside and outside of the hotel. If I paid a minimal amount I would understand but for £519.82 for 3 nights it was truly woeful.
There was also was a scarf missing from the room while we went for dinner. Our towels were changed that day and the do not disturb sign was on the door so no one had reason to enter the room - We brought this up with the front desk and without finishing our sentence he simply shook his head, when we finished our sentence he said that it wasn’t possible, he didn’t even take a description or meet our query with any form of respect.
The other staff we interacted with seemed nice though. We got new towels when asked and the sheets looked clean (just not the mattresses).

We stayed in the outdoor rooms at the rear of property, ideal as no stairs or lift to contend with only a few steps and as more mature travellers for us this was good. The staff were helpful and pleasant and it was peaceful and quiet, very secure and could hear the birds chirping in the trees. Although the hotel does not do food, there are numerous food options within the shortest of walking distance and a great little Spar which sells all sorts of takeaway food and drinks, you could bring your food back and sit either inside or outside to consume and they have a vending machine for chocolate/drinks. The transport in the area is excellent, frequent bus, tram and even a two canal boat cruise boarding stops near. All the main attractions are walkable although this does take maybe 20/30 minutes but is an enjoyable walk as you see everything on the way. All in all we had a good 3 day stay at the Hotel Vossius Vondelpark.

The only good thing about this property was it's location. Despite the non-smoking signs everywhere the lobby and rooms reaked, the front desk employee was nowhere to be found when we were trying to check in and sleeping when we tried to check out. They clearly didn't clean the room between guests (just made the bed). There were stains on the bedding, hair and gunk in the shower, and it was smelly. The TV remote was broken and the hair dryer had melted into the wall... the front desk did provide a replacement upon request. And it's LOUD. People in and out of the lobby at all hours of the night and the walls are paper thin. And it was still pricey! Just spend $20 more a night and stay somewhere better.

Carpet in the property was stained. Both boiler and hairdryer in my room weren't working (I got a spare hairdryer from them). One mirror light in the barhroom wasn't working, making it quite hard to use that mirror properly, being the bathroom quite dark already. The bag in the bathroom bin was missing so I've used one I owned.
The bed headerboard was not clean - and worn out in some areas - as well as some areas of the walls. Part of the desk was chipped.
Overall it felt like they didn't really bother deep cleaning in a while, and considering I had no breakfast option, I believe the price for my stay was way too high, considering.

Only good things about this hotel were location, water pressure from the shower head, and a staff member was present in the lobby 24/7.

Hotel room cleanliness was questionable - dust hanging from the walls & sheets felt itchy. \"Bed\" was ~2 inch mattress. On certain days they left new towels in the room, though on one day they forgot to close the door to my hotel room. The hotel room doors do not lock from the inside. There is a small safe in the hotel room. Bathroom had weird smell.

Essentially this was an overpriced hotel room with the very bare minimum that had a good location (near museums, public transportation, and restaurants). Would not go back.

We had a good stay at this hotel. I understand other guests reviews - the rooms are small, the place is loud, and a bit rundown. However, I thought for the location and price it was great. The staff are very nice and offer luggage storage. Probably wouldn’t have wanted to stay more than two nights though.

The room is not cozy, its a box. There is no bed, it is a 2” thick foam mattress that is thrown on top of a sofa and labeled a bed. Only 2 very very small pillows provided, very uncomfortable. Bathroom is very small even by European standards. Could brush my teeth while I was sitting in the toilet. Bathroom glass was so small it did not stop any water from washing out of the shower, resulting in the entire bathroom being filled with water. Staff is friendly, at least. But would not recommend if you are looking for an affordable and confortable option. It felt like a Hostel but with just one room.

The hotel is economical and very clean with an elevator. There is staff at the desk and all individuals are very pleasant and helpful. The space in the room is extremely tight but fills the bill for a safe, clean, economical room next door to Vondelpark and close to both the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. There is a very close tram stop to get everywhere else.

Terrible, book somewhere else

I was severely sleep-deprived and anxious for my safety after this hotel stay. As a female solo traveler, I was particularly alarmed by the events that unfolded during my stay, and I feel it is necessary to bring these issues to the attention of the hotel, they never helped and when following up after they didn’t reply to any of my emails.

I felt very unsafe as a solo female traveler.

Throughout the night, I experienced continuous noise disturbances from multiple sources:

1.Loud sounds from the communal toilet next to my room.
2.Constant noise from the room above me.
3.Groups of people loitering directly outside my window, shouting and talking loudly and smoking which prompted me to go to reception on three separate occasions to request that the man at reception ask them to move away.

This situation made me feel extremely unsafe in my own room, unable to rest.

Great location for easy access to museum quarter. No noise absorption. I was woken every night by other guests accessing their rooms and they were not noisy. I could clearly hear other guests moving about in adjoining rooms again they were not being loud. Hotel decor very tired and slightly grubby- paintwork chipped and scuffed. Safe difficult to locate as hidden behind large fan. No mini bar/ fridge in room. Tiny bathroom where you had to contort yourself around the sink to use the toilet. Extractor in bathroom not working. Staff pleasant and polite. Reception area was cramped.

Stay was nice, beds were extremely comfortable. Close distance to a lot. The street has several people checking the cars to break into them. We watched two from our room upstairs but they stopped when they saw us notice them getting ready to break in. Also had ours broken into during the day while parked in front of the hotel. There was a camera pointed at our vehicle and the police said they wouldn’t look at it and nothing would happen anyways.

Room wasn't very clean, cobwebs everywhere etc. never refilled teabags, tissues etc. bathroom was absolutely disgusting, so small tiny gap between the sink and toilet, sink was so small, water went everywhere and you couldn't fit the kettle under the tap to fill it up. The shower was awful no shower curtain so the water ran straight out to the toilet floor, everything got soaked , it was mouldy and the smell of damp was overpowering. The outside sitting area was overflowing with weeds and rubbish (Stanley blades, packaging even underwear). We actually got a brush and cleaned it up ourselves so we could sit outside.

Staff was lovely, room was okay, outdoor area behind the hotel was nice. We stayed in the annex, which was generally fine, except that there is absolutely 0 ventilation without opening a door (no windows, no vents, no fans, no AC). It was really hot when we were here (though I know that's not the norm!), so we ended up having to sleep with the sliding door open and barricading it with chairs. Not entirely their fault, but not a good night's sleep -- would avoid staying here in the hot season, or if you like any breeze at night.

We had a reservation through Expedia at a different hotel nearby. Unfortunately, that hotel didn’t have our reservation/booking. Expedia found this hotel for us to stay instead. The condition of this hotel was not great at first glance. It is in an older building. The check in area is at the basement level, so you’d have to go “downstairs” to check in. The landing on the entrance is small, so with 4 people’s luggage, there was not enough space to be there. But all in all, it was a good stay. While you’d have to climb the steep stairs to your room with your luggage (it’s Amsterdam, after all), the room is surprisingly big, and it was clean. The bathroom is very small, but clean and adequate. The staff were great! Chiara and Sasha were very helpful and nice. They cleaned up the room and replenished the towels when asked. No AC but the air outside when you open the window was nice and cooled down the room. The location is the best! It’s close to everything and walkable everywhere. We’re right next to Vondelpark, which was awesome. The hotel offers tea and coffee at the “lobby” and other drinks to buy. I didn’t like the door frame inside our room was damaged. But we did feel safe inside. We were only at the hotel at night to sleep, so it served our purposes.

Decent stay for 4 days with my husband and 10 year old son. Quiet location, clean property and helpful staff but we ended up on the top floor which was very hot because it has tiny windows and they barely open. I will say that it was unseasonably warm during our stay and there were many fans provided but our experience would have been much different on a lower floor where the windows were much bigger. And of course there would also be a view not to mention air circulation! So if you’re booking Vossius definitely request to NOT be on the top floor - it’s not the same quality as the rest of the property.
