We had a lovely stay in a twin room which was in the building opposite the main hotel. Communication with the hotel before we arrived was great and we were able to leave our cases before check in and after check out which really helped. There was body wash, shampoo and conditioner included and also tea and coffee facilities in the room.

We did have trouble with the steps as we both have problems with our knees and there were about 10 steep steps to get into the building so it was an extra challenge with our cases and bags so keep this in mind when deciding which building as the main building doesn't have as many stairs.

I would recommend this hotel and hope to return soon.

We had an okay stay here until a vent fell off the ceiling and started to leak a bunch of water into our bathroom on the final night, right as we were trying to go to sleep. We told staff and unfortunately they couldn’t find us another room. All they offered us were towels to soak up the large amount of water on the toilet, floor and shelf below (didn’t clean it up themselves — just gave us towels for us to deal with the mess). Thankfully the water didn’t soak too much of our belongings but it meant we couldn’t use our bathroom the final night without the risk of it happening again. Management said they would follow up about compensating for the poor experience but we have still not heard anything from them and it’s been a full week. We were offered a free breakfast the morning after, which we couldn’t use because we were told about it as we were checking out and had to catch a train. We left our contact information at the front desk and submitted our feedback through the hotel survey and still haven’t heard anything from management about this inconvenience during the final night of our stay. Overall, we experienced quite horrible customer service. At least the location was decent. However the room was mediocre (even before the flooding) — they only provide each person with 1 pillow, the shower was a horrible design that soaked the entire bathroom floor and the place was freezing and hard to get a good temperature with the A/C. We definitely wouldn't stay there again.

Everything was in order here. Started in a room I hadnt ordered through some small confusion but they movied me to the correct room without any problem the very next evening. Desk staff were friendly and helpful. Beds very comfortable. Bathrooms stunning. Quaint backyard to enjoy the afternoon. Very close to Museums, Vondelpark, and the Leidesplein. I'd definitely come back.

We've stayed here when it first opened and returned about 10 years later and whilst it is still a lovely place in a super area, there are some obvious signs of wear from the past decade. We have been on the Lower ground floor and the top floor and both beds were super comfortable. The room was a bit cool when we arrived (19degrees) so a touch on the fresher side but likely down to the very high ceiling in the attic. There was oodle of scorcho hot water for a long shower or soak and the breakfast was simple but varied and tasty. Would very happily stay again and the area is lovely and quiet but not too far off the beaten path in an upmarket neighbourhood.

Cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

Probably the worst hotel I stayed ind during my five weeks in England, Belgium, Luxembourg and Netherlands. Seemed dirty from the start… from the guest check in to the room itself. This is NOT a four or even three star hotel. Not sure how they fake that rating.

I was placed in a room next to the kitchen. There were three room in a nook with the kitchen. Could not believe it. Clanging pans, slamming doors and food smells starting at 5:00 am. If you’re a solo traveler this is where they’ll put you. Additionally, there was constant stomping from the floor above. Thin walks and floors in this place. Carpets were filthy. Cleaning is basically changing sheets and wiping dow the shower, basin and toilet.

Cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel location is perfect! Conveniently located a few blocks away from the busy main streets so it is quieter in the evenings but easy to walk to metro stops, restaurants, and shopping. Hotel staff was extremely accommodating and made sure we enjoyed our stay. We received great recommendations for places to visit and site to see. Will definitely stay here again!!

We loved Hotel Roemer. Great room. Great staff. Great location. Excellent bed.
Our room needed some minor maintenance: sink had mineral buildup, reading lamp was loose on wall and needed a new bulb, crack in wall. Minor things.
We still recommend highly.

Very well located in a hip area, close to public transport connections including airport links. Spacious rooms with good lighting. We had a room with balcony overlooking the back garden, so it was a very leafy setting. Air conditioning - no issues, bathroom - no issues. Good value for money. We had a minor issue with the room safe which had a non-functional key. Would definitely stay in this place again.

Comfortable hotel just outside of downtown, near the park. Easy to walk everywhere downtown without actually being in the middle of things. Space felt very home-y, very comfortable. I am not a big fan of carpeted rooms, but this one felt clean and well maintained.

The bathroom was large and comfortable to use, with a very large tub that you could essentially use as a personal hot tub. There was also a nice balcony in the room that would face the inner courtyard. All in all a very comfortable stay with helpful staff. Would stay again!

Location, staff, room - all lovely, really. I was seeking an affordable option with the right location and this was a very good choice. Room was clean, well equipped and I even had a balcony. Bathroom was very large with bathtub and separate shower. Small fridge, safe, regular housekeeping, and a king size bed that was very comfortable sealed the deal. A few little rough spots here and there with the furnishings but nothing that would deminish my review. This is a great choice for a budget traveler seeking real bang for their buck. Everyone was helpful and friendly. I even had an electrical outage based on a faulty coffee maker and in under 30 minutes the issue was resolved and a new machine was offered. Bus to airport was around the corner, 2 tram lines within 5 min walk. Go for it.

Great location. Very convenient to transportation. Close to a park and restaurants. Nice breakfast. Downsides were minor but room keys consistently failed and we had to be let inside by front desk workers, room had difficulty maintaining a reasonable temperature regardless of thermostat setting, and we had to plug the shower drain with a towel when not in use to reduce odor (possibly bad p-trap).

Overall I'd stay there again.

There is no way this is 4 star hotel. We were very disappointed with our stay.
Our room was across the road from the main hotel up very steep and narrow steps to gain entry to main door. It felt like we were renting a room and not staying in a hotel. We did not use any of the hotel facilities (e.g. bar) as it meant crossing going down the steep steps and crossing the road. The stairs felt dangerous especially with a suitcase and when it rained. I would not advise elderly people to stay here.
The room was very tired and had holes in the wall. The bathroom fittings had seen better days (sink, shower had lots of stains and limescale).
The positives were friendly staff on check in and only 5 minutes walk to main road with restaurants and max 10 minutes walk to Rijksmuseum and museum quarter.

This is a clean hotel. The bathroom has been updated. The bed and pillows are some of the most comfortable of any hotel I’ve ever slept in, even the 5 star hotels. The design of the room is not good, ie there is a cabinet right where you open the door, not good interior design, the glass shower door doesn’t reach the bottom so that the water goes to the floor, the sitting chair looks old. The good news is that it seems a new owner has taken over and that they are planning to make improvements.

Roemer needs to specify which room rate the guest is getting.
I would have chosen a different room if I had known the one I paid for was the cheapest which is downstairs.

It was our 3rd time. We used to love this hotel but won't come back again. The room was in a poor condition, the bed was not comfortable as it was too old and not have been changed for a long time. Maastricht was not suitable for sleeping.
Not cleaned the room even ones including not to change cups of coffee,filling the coffee,toilet paper,garbage was not been taken etc.
This was before a Boutique hotel,now the same prices and a 2 star feeling. disappointment.

I stayed at the Hotel Roemer seven nights. The location is perfect: a quiet, pretty street just two blocks west of Leidseplein near the east end of the Vondelpark. It was a very comfortable and pleasant place to call home for a week—the beds are great!—but what really made it was the wonderfully friendly, helpful staff. Alexander, Maria, Mortis, and Thomas are the BEST. I plan to stay there again.

Great location for the Rijksmuseum, and staff were lovely and friendly. Hotel itself is dated, dusty and lacks any amenities. Rooms are good sized, but filthy and aged - upon check-in we found hairs in the bathtub, the bed and pillows uncomfortable, significant number of stains on the walls and carpet, the bathroom dirty, and the shower/bath itself did not drain. Room cleaning during our time there was inadequate, even noting the cleaner had emptied the bedroom bin but left the bag on the desk. Overall, wouldn’t stay here again nor recommend it to anyone else visiting Amsterdam.

The location of this hotel is great, and the bed was very comfortable.

Unfortunately, the bathroom stank with a sewage-y smell, and the heater was stuck at full-blast all night long. I tend to like a warmer room than most, but this was an unexpected (and unpleasant) tropical vacation.

Small hotel hotel in a quiet area, so no crowds to deal with. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Fast wifi. We had the window slightly open during the night to have some cool fresh air and there was zero noise from outside.

Room was in property across the road from the reception so there was limited engagement with staff. We were on the 2nd floor, the stairs are very steep as you would expect, but there was a lift once you got up the stairs to the front door.The room was small but clean, with room for hanging clothes. The safe was in the bathroom - a first for me. The shower had low water pressure, again no surprise. Ideal location for museums, restaurants, canal cruises and access to the old city.

We stayed at this property twice during our vacation. We spent five nights in a room in the Annex building across the street. We had a lovely balcony that faced other backyards. It was quiet and very comfortable. The hotel staff were very helpful. We left the hotel for a night in Brugge and checked back into this hotel for another two nights. The new room was much smaller than our previous one. We spoke with the staff and they apologized and offered to upgrade our room the following night and gave us complimentary breakfast.
Breakfast was delicious and the staff followed through with everything they said they would do. When we returned to the hotel, we found our luggage in the deluxe room with Jacuzzi. Thanks to a great staff who made our stay in Amsterdam fabulous.

The positives: the staff was great and the location was very convenient.

However... I checked in early and my room was understandably not ready yet, so I was offered an \"upgrade\" to a much larger room that would be ready sooner. While I was told that the room was below ground, I didn't realize that it would be right below the dining room. It was incredibly loud each morning during breakfast and at night with people coming/going. Each footstep/suitcase echoed in my room, making it difficult to sleep.

The room itself was very dated. Instead of a King sized bed, it had two single beds pushed together with a mattress pad on top. I was pretty grossed out by there not being a bottom sheet, rather a sheet that rested on top of the mattress pad - it barely covered it, therefore my skin was exposed to the mattress pad quite a few times throughout the night. The final disappointment is that housekeeping did not clean my room. I was out for basically the whole day on Saturday, but returned at night to an unmade bed, dirty towels, and an overflowing waste basket. They had clearly been into my room since they had restocked the waters in the minibar, just didn't clean. Overall I wouldn't stay here again and it's not what I would have expected from a 4 star hotel.

We arrived on a early morning flight. Got to the Hotel around 10am. We were notified that our room wasn't ready. Not a big deal as we were hungry and decided the explore the city. We arrived back around noon to check for our room, still wasn't ready for us. Was notified due to our booking, check in time was at 3pm. We were tired and exhausted from our flight. We have been up for almost 24hrs at the time. We overheard a gentleman asking for a late checkout to the receptionist. Guess who's room they were late checking out from, that's right the one we booked. Once we got our room, it was much smaller than I expected it. Total size of the room was probably 100-150sq ft. (double room with queen bed).

The hotel has bookings that overlap each other. This means if people have a booking for Monday and the previous guest have not left but you're there from your flight, you are stuck waiting for those people to leave. The hotel has great staff but their system for bookings are horrible. You are better off booking a place that is more well known and cost a bit more. The only good part that we experienced was the hotel staff left notes and in part tried to make up for the inconvenience with gifts. During our stay we received a toiletry bag, stroop waffles and complementary drinks.

Good location and on a lovely road. Some reception staff were excellent but the one who checked us in was not very welcoming. Room was a bit tired but the bed was very comfortable. I’m a light sleeper and didn’t hear any road noise and just the odd sound from people on the stairs.

Very disappointing hotel. Even with European standards, I can give this hotel maximum 3 star rating. Very worn out carpets, very tight rooms (even there was not one medium size table you can put your stuff on). No lobby. Many steps before you get to elevator (we had a 4 year old with stroller).

Great location near museums. Well appointed rooms, excellent breakfast, in room coffee maker. Many things within walking distance. Friendly and attentive staff. Would return to stay here again.

I was disappointed they did not take cash for a check that was over 1000 euros for 3 nights.
What I paid did not reflect the quality and service that I got.

The best boutique hotel in Amsterdam

The Roemer exceeded my expectations. Friendly helpful staff, large comfortable room with fantastic marble bath, large private balcony overlooking private gardens, great location. A true gem!

Love this location and sweet spot in Amsterdam!

We had a great time at this sweet hotel! Location was close to everything but tucked away enough that you could relax and sleep well. Sometimes our dirty cups weren’t take That was no big deal. There was some construction going on outside our room but we still slept fine. Main hotel lobby was little and sweet. This hotel does have locations on both sides of the road. We were not in the main building with the food and beverages. That was fine but it did lead to feeling a little detached. Hotel staff very helpful with any questions and recommendations! Would stay here again. I recommend renting a bike to get to the fun spots in town easily! Cheers! Picture below is on the street outside the hotel and other is in our room.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Pretty close to several restaurants and a grocery. Not the easiest place to get to from the airport. Worth the money if you're staying for a few days and will get to enjoy it.

Great hotel!

Great location, close to Leidseplein and the museum. Staff very helpful, hotel in good shape. We had a room in basement level, huge room, bed and bathroom with double shower.
