Don't be fooled by the pictures advertising this hotel. We booked for 4 nights but left after two. Dirty, incredibly small, tiny beds, toilet so small as to be unusable. Room smelled of damp, hardly surprising given the shower door leaks all over the floor. Good location and staff were helpful. No tea or coffee making facilities within the room, just communal ones in the reception area. Sadly a waste of money on an epic scale.

Stay was horrible. Room had mold and was dirty. The room flooded our last night. Completely soaked the floor with muddy water. Suitcases ruined. Several pairs of shoes and electronics (air pods and laptop) ruined. No offer to reimburse. They moved us to another room but did not even offer to help us clean up and move all of the clothes that were wet and muddy. They laundered some but not all came clean. They gave us clothes back wet and smelly to travel back with wet muddy clothes. Horrible stay.

Time for an update

The room was dirty and mattresses were full of fabric peel you could feel through the sheets. One of the mattress covers was yellow stained from whatever. The fans didn’t work neither did the bathroom mirror light. The location was great but rooms need uptating.

Sorry, but not for family stay

Wanted to stay one short night before we headed to the airport on next day. As I got to the hotel early, room wasn’t ready but I was expected. I left my luggage by the counter where there is no separate area for keeping. Lobby was very tiny. I should have checked my room but I was rush to get out to enjoy my time here in Amsterdam. Hotel has no elevator so I was just hoping I would not get high floor. When I came back at night, staff showed me room is located basement. That is right, I said BASEMENT. In fact, they advertise as one family room is basement which I wasn't aware.
Because it located in half basement when you open the windows it levels as ground where I see all stuff pilings at the back of property and it stinks and I didn't feel safe. I was asking to cancel and refund but my request was denied. Hotel staff wasn't handling situation correctly he just push me to talk to his boss by myself.

Quiet and safe neighborhood. The staff was great, as were the rooms. I'd recommend a room with a balcony if available. It was an easy walk anywhere in the City. Heads up--the stairs sure are steep lol!

Lots of stairs, heather stopped working, worst!

We were given a room in the 4th floor with no elevator! The stairs were very hard to use and dangerous especially with luggage. It's very hard to move your luggage with stairs! The heater in the room stopped working in the middle of the night and we were freezing during the night. Overall, it was one of my worst experiences.

Awful little hotel in a great location near canals

This is an awful little hotel in a great location. The noise level on two nights was so loud I was unable to sleep till 5am one night and 3am the next. People talking, and partying all night. Loud music. The staircase was so scary steep, I thought I was training for the Olympics. The shower did not drain, water went onto the floor. The staff downstairs did not seem to care.

I liked the area around the hotel.but its very very loud and you can hear everything from the neighbouring rooms.the smallest hotel rooms i have ever been to.and for that price you dont get much,just the location.its good for young people who can sleep fast at night.and the staircases are the steepest i have ever seen in a hotel.very dangerous, so its not for elderly guests.and no lift!the staff is friendly, the cleanliness in the hotel is not the best! i wont come again.sorry

What I loved is the shower and how easy it was to get to and from, right next to the tram station which got me all over Amsterdam. Very convenient place to stay for a couple of days.

The downside is the noise and how thin the doors are, if you are staying near reception you will hear a lot of coming ins and coming outs and some talking. But besides that I couldn’t hear people talking in other rooms when I was in mine. The noise from above is where I’m getting at mostly.

Overall, great stay!

I’d recommend for any single traveller wanting to be near the tramline and plenty coffee shops.

There is a vending machine in the hotel which comes in useful! Also have EU travel adapters in it just in case you forget to bring your own!

Tiny room, but I guess this is Amsterdam. Bathroom was private but down the hall in another room. Pretty tricky navigating your bags up the stairs without any help. Very clean and comfy and quiet though.

Great location. Crap room size. Staff friendly. Felt room at top of building had no fire escape and was a long way up. 4 floors of 15 steps each. Bathroom was very tight squeeze.
Fresh towels every day was good. Coffee downstairs was good . Use of microwave great. No fridge was a pity.

There were 5 of us staying a this hotel, 3 of which stayed in room number 5 and 2 in number 6. The room at number 6 was faultless. Absolutely immaculate. The room was very warm with clean sheets every day and very comfy beds. Room 5 however was not so good. The windows was drafty and there was an awful smell coming from the shower that smelt like boiled eggs every time it was used. However the room was clean with a very good view. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Just remember guys not to forget about that city tax!

The hotel is close to public transportation. The hotel is a smoking-free property also the fine is 250 EUR but people smoke marijuana all the time in the rooms, the hotel is small, so you can breath weed inside you room as well, so this is not good option if you are traveling with kids, despite the fact the hotel said children are welcome. The second day the staff let in the room just the body towels, no hand towels and no bath towels, we were in the 4 floor, no elevator, the hotel doesn’t have a direct communication between rooms and reception, also it was 11pm so we decided to do nothing, the third day was the same, also they didn’t change the linen when is supposed to be changed. In the checkout day the receptionist was just asking for the key card all the time, he didn’t ask how was our stay, we were waiting for him because was busy, and we wanted you use the luggage storage that in reality is leave the bags wherever you find a place, he doesn’t even know who belongs to who, there is not any tag that you receive for leave your bag, so any person can take any bag.

The rooms were incredibly small, but that's how Amsterdam is. The top-floor room was super hot (I was sweating in a T-Shirt) while the basement room was cold... Staff was very helpful though, helped us move from way up the stairs the first day to a more accessible room. The internet connection was good and there's coffee at reception. The location is pretty good (15 minute tram ride from train station, and the area is central for all intents and purposes). The view from upstairs was actually really good. The neighbors the first day were horrible though and the room provided zero noise isolation from rowdy (possibly high) people. Frustrating, but not exactly the hotel's fault.

Dont stay on upper floor - otherwise nice place

The room was good size and comfortable. I was initially excited to find out that I was on the top floor (floor 4) of the building until I found out that they dont have an elevator. Carrying luggage up 4 very steep, narrow stair cases proved to be a challenge. Particularly coming down. I didnt see many guests during my short stay but could certainly hear music and people talking.

was in a nice quiet part of the city, about a 30 minute walk to central station. the rooms were basic, but clean. you can rent pedal boats to explore the canals right next to the hotel which is a very nice option for a morning activity if you have the weather. its a good option if you want somewhere cheap and basic to use just for sleeping and keeping your things during the day and don't mind being a little further from the centre of the city.

Our room was on the 4th floor, up four steep flights of stairs and was tiny. The worst thing was that smoking was allowed in the hotel so all we could smell was cigarette smoke. The fire alarm went off at 2:00 a.m. one night because of all the cigarette smoke. Not impressed.

Very good budget hotel

Room (42) was very clean,bright and airy, all was good except the shower drained very slowly and had I not noticed it would have flooded the room, so I had to turn it off and on to shower and let the water drain.
Very long trek to the top floor but that's amsterdam.
This was a very spacious room, hotel was quiet while I was there and it is in an excellent location with bars and restaurants and public transport to get about.
It was over-priced while I was there £260 for two nights but this was during the IBC Show.

This was in a absolutely amazing location, a 2 minute walk from a great part of downtown Amsterdam. The wifi was also very reliable and they had tons of cable channels in Dutch and English. My only complaints is that check in was supposed to be at 2pm. I got there at 2:15 and they were still cleaning my room. When I got into the room after waiting for a bit the floors were soaking wet so I had to dry the floors off with my towels. Also this place like many places in Amsterdam is all steep staircases so if you have a huge luggage this will be a very interesting experience for you.

For a budget hotel, overall very good. Please note that the building does not have air conditioning. The first night is was extremely hot, but the second two days were considerably cooler so the room temperature was fine. Good location close to a large tram stop. Close to the city perimeter, so you can Uber to approximately 1/4 mile from the hotel from the airport for approx 25 Euro.

We had expected small rooms, but not to be stuffed into the attic room which was ~30 degree C and not clean at all.
Complained and did after longer discussion given a room on a lower floor in which we found slippers, full waste basket and hairs everywhere.
Cleaned the room ourselves and survived our three nights in Amsterdam

Two noisy nights then found a rat who destroyed our backpack.Moved into another room for the last two days.
This is a basic bed and small toilet facility.Only good thing is location.No facilities apart from free Wi-Fi.

A bit like a cosy hostel, without a common room.

Comfortable beds, polite and helpful staff, clean (apart from the used bucket and mop that were left in the hallway for a couple of days. Very snug. Excellent location. Could do with updating the website to make it clear that it is room only, but that there is use of a kettle, microwave and a few bits n bobs in the reception area. Table and folding chairs in the room were very useful. Only real downside was that water pressure was so weak in the shower, despite being in the basement, that I could not wash my hair.

Good location for most activities. Around 20mins brisk walk from the station. Bedrooms looks newly refurbished, bed was new the day I checked in (March 18) booked room for myself, allocated a twin room but it would have been a tight fit for two if you need space to get ready. If you are literally looking for a well located clean bed for the night it’s a perfect choice. I stayed a couple of nights and it suited great

Great hotel is Leidseplein, easy to get trams right into central station. Be wary of the stairs here though, if you have mobility issues maybe ask for a ground floor level. Would definitely stay again.

Great location walk everywhere in Amsterdam so it was perfect to get there. The only thing was the bed, should have ordered a double room, but it was very comfy for a night

Cozy, small room. Shower and bathroom were good condition. We were up three flights of VERY steep and narrow stairs, but you get what you pay for! The hotel is right on the Leidseplein, an area with heaps of bars and restaurants and it was amazingly conventient to be able to walk back to the room whenever we felt like it.

Worse than expected

I know the cost of hotel is usually expensive in Europe, but this hotel really shocked me. The area of whole hotel room is smaller than a King size bed. There was a strong smell of weed during the stay. And the room is not soundproof at all, I can hear everything the neighbor saying though I couldn't understand Dutch. I would't recommend someone to stay here. I would suggest you to choose hostel which cost 20 bucks per day, but not worse than here.

Great location but tiny and loud

The location is fantastic (near the art museums and a huge number of restaurants) and the beds are comfortable (if you like soft bed like me). The night staff is really friendly and day staff is pleasant.The breakfast is super basic (typical Dutch breakfast: coffee, juice, toast, cold cuts, hard boiled eggs) but that's what I expected for 5 euros. The room was clean but as other reviews said, was also really tiny, especially by American standards. There was very little floor space around the bed and the bathroom was just big enough to turn around in. Also the stairs are very steep and narrow (like most old canal houses in Amsterdam). So if you stay here, it's better to pack light. I had a hard time lugging my (heavy) carry-on size suitcase up and down the stairs and I was only on the second floor. I would not recommend this hotel if you are a light sleeper. I was in a room facing the street and I could hear the drunk people and the traffic until the early hours of the morning. I was able to sleep in a bit so it was fine for me. I would stay again, but with less luggage.

Great hotel for a great price. Very clean and comfortable with a fantastic modern bathroom. Our room had a great en-suite and TV. The room was spotless and spacious. with every facility you could want.

The Hotel is also in a fantastic central location with pretty views.Bikes were also easy to hire from the hotel.
Stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the whole experience.

You get what you pay for, I guess

The room was cramped and not very clean-looking. It was located just past the check-in desk, and it was very noisy. There was only one working electrical plug, located in the hallway, so we needed to get an extension cord and power bar in order to plug in our electronic devices and sleep apnea machine. Unfortunately, using this plug meant that none of the non-overhead lights worked. The few members of staff we encountered were not very attentive.

There was construction directly behind the hotel, which was not their fault, per se, but it made being in the room during the day very unpleasant. We had booked the hotel because it's location meant that we could return to it easily during the day to rest and recharge, and the noise made it hard to do so.

On my next trip, it is not likely that I would book this hotel again.

Basic, clean and value for money

The hotel was in a great location, just a few minites walk from the Leidesplein. The hotel sign outside looks a little shabby, and the reception is small and a bit run down, but the rooms have been modernised. The staff were all friendly and i even managed to check in a little early. The beds were super comfy! The shower was warm and had a good strength. The room was clean too, with plenty of towels. I noticed there was no hairdryer. I didn't need one so maybe there was one available at reception that i didnt enquire about. The only downside to my stay was the noise-my room was directly opposite the reception so i was woken by the noise of people checking out and chatting. I also heard the phone ring and the receptionist sneeze. I was in room 5 so another room on another floor would be much quieter. I didnt hear any sounds from the room next door so they are soundproofed enough, it was just the noisy receeption that spoiled my stay a bit. Overall, i would say this hotel was clean, cimfortable and good value for money.

After traveling for eight weeks and staying in very comfortable places,this place was the worst.After climbing 50 stairs carrying suitcases we then walked into the smallest twin single room where you couldn't even swing a cat. No room to put suitcases and sooooo cramped,the thinnest beds,no smoking signs on doors and all we could smell was cigarette smoke and the other( pot). Breakfast was crap and cramped. Overall we where ripped off paying $540 Ozzie dollars for three nights. I know it's peak season but it was greed and even the male at front desk agreed that it is not advertised correctly for its size.

Great location, tiny rooms

Rooms are smaller than they appear and you can barely move around in there. Location was perfect and the employees were nice. The breakfast was fine as well.

Cheap and very cheerful!

This was our second stay at Hotel Titus and what a wonderful stay it was! Rooms are clean, breakfast is free and the location is fantastic! The stairs are scary at first but you get used to it after the first night! If you're looking for somewhere cheap and close to all the cool places then this is the hotel for you :-) Enjoy!

Great location, room very small but adequate , excellent bathroom, beds a bit too soft, breakfast excellent and room clean and comfortable.. Would stay there again as local transport within easy reach. A bit noisy at night as onto main street, but OK if you kept the windows closed.

Decent hotel but expensive considering what we got

Ok hotel - great location but fairly basic. One of the beds had some sort of centipede crawling on the pillow when we walked in. Also to get to the room we had to walk down some very narrow stairs so bear this mind if it may affect you. The location on the other hand was fantastic - a few minutes from Leidseplein where there is a large number of bars and restaurants.

Not a happy camper.

Hotel was very pokey. Staff were friendly & helpful. Central location. Definitely not value for money. Would not stay there again. No bathroom shampoo or jells, towels were laundered, but had old marks / stains on them.

Good location, reasonable budget accommodation

The room was very small but was clean. The location for our purposes was great - surprisingly quiet compared to nearby streets, and close to a lot of the attractions. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone who struggles with stairs. As with many apartment-style buildings in Amsterdam, the stairs were more like the lovechild of stairs and a ladder!
