Absolutely horrible, in need of immediate de-listing. The staff were incompetent, sassy and patronising. Hotel staff tried gaslighting us saying there’s no cigarette smoke, shortly after came in trying to spray an unventilated room with air fresheners. Room key card didn’t work and reception had to open our room every single time. 3 day Bed sheets and towels were recycled, they were ironed and put back in place. They were visibly soiled with blood and bodily secretions; Absolute nightmare, when I complained, the receptionist had the audacity to give me the bed sheets and duvet and said, “it’s not my job to change them”. Despicable behaviour, I had to end my stay early and leave, they lied saying yes they’ll process a refund, they’ll ask you to send an email to their management and when you leave, you’ll never see the refund, they blatantly deny you and claim they offered alternatives. They’ll lie and say Expedia charges the consumer when it’s actually the hotel. It is officially a 2 star hotel, they advertise as 3. The only amenity provided is a hair dryer and a super small safe. Its with deep regret I write this honest review, with the sole purpose of raising awareness.

Very small room for 4 people with 2 beds under a sloping roof. The bathroom was so small that you had to sit under the sink basin to use the toilet. Two of us were itching in the night and woke up with a couple of small red bites. We couldn't wait to get out of there.

Failed to advertise that the hotel was 2 stars not 3 also they didn’t tell us beforehand that the place was being renovated meaning the noise was very loud (from 10am-midnight). Another thing was that there was supposed to be tea and coffee facilities which we were told we could use when we got there but ended up being told we couldn’t. Demanded a £100 deposit upon arrival which was almost the same amount we paid for the whole entire stay (cash or credit card only). Also it was the loudest hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Lots of things were broken when we arrived like the toilet seat had a crack in it that was duct taped up, the shower head holder didn’t stand up by itself, one of the bedroom lights didn’t work and there was a hole in the ceiling where the smoke alarm should have been. The bathroom was also freezing cold where it would be hard to stand on the floor without shoes on because it was so cold. The hotel site also shows luggage storage which ends up just being your luggage put behind an open stair case for anyone to come along and take. Mainly the noise from above was absolutely unbearable and carried on into 1am most nights and meant it was very hard to sleep, we even debated finding a new place to stay. The hotel offered a central place for us to stay and the staff were polite but that’s the only positives.

Honestly not worth the money we saved. When we checked in we were told there was major construction happening and there would be perioda of time where we would not have water. (Did not tell us that until after they took our deposit)

Walls are paper thin, which is to be expected for a hotel so cheap. But the room next to us was smoking weed constantly which would set off the alarms, which would make the staff come knocking on EVERYONE'S doors asking is if we were smoking.

My husband was very ill at one point in our trip, so I went down to the desk to ask if we could have a second card. I was told it was not possible. So anytime I returned to the room I either had to knock and wake up my sick husband or slide the card back in which would turn on all the lights and the television.

The place looks nice honestly, but there's just too many negatives for me to be able to recommend this place to anyone.

There is a bedbug infestation at this hotel and they haven't even apologized or refunded me for all the trouble this has caused me. I had to leave the hotel at 4 am for the airport, 10 hours before my flight because they could not provide a new room or clean sheets. Do NOT stay here.

Great area, overall decent stay with a well equipped room. Only disappointments were that the toilet broke from the wall (I am underweight for my height), and there was not enough shampoo and body wash provided. Apart from that, the bed sheets were okay, the mattress was not great. There is no air conditioning, just a fan.

First off, this should be listed as a hostel and not a hotel. It was fairly clean, but it is extremely small... in terms of both the lobby/communal area and the rooms themselves. There are zero amentites besides towels and bed linens. The \"family apartment\" isn't really that, it's a small room with twin beds lined up so if you have luggage be prepared to try to stash it somewhere you can easily walk around (hint: you can't). I would rate this higher due to it feeling clean, but for the rate I paid I'm still astonished with what we got.

Nice simple hotel. Beds are twin size. Rooms are standard european size. Very close to alot of things including starbucks lol. Hotel is good for a quick 1 night stay to rest. Nothing spectacular but had everything we needed

The room is soooooo small you can barely move inside, especially if you have luggage. There were also no windows in the room, only a small one facing a common area inside the hotel where people gather and have coffee or eat their meals and not outside.
The place is actually a hostel, and not really a hotel.
The worst part though is there are two cats walking around this common area, which is where people eat and drink! That is definitely not clean. In the morning, the place smells like cat and cat piss.

Very convenient location to everything, just had an issue with a leak from the ceiling in my room, the young lady at the desk said she would take something off my room but she was not on duty when I checked out the gentlemen didn’t know anything about it. But I would recommend this hotel.

Amazing location & Valuable price

The whole hotel is made it with dry-wall (paper walls) so it’s really noisy if you get the room next to the stairs and/or if your upper neighbours don’t behave.

The hotel is really well located, 2 blocks only from the party area but still located in a quiet zone, it have next door a bicycle rental service really nice, the staff is really supportive.

Notice that this hotel have elevator and no A/C on the rooms. It’s not allowed to smoke inside the rooms. They provide free coffee and tea in the basement BUT if you’re allergic to cats don’t go there.

The staff should ask the clients to NOT use the stairs after 10pm because they’re really noisy, people can/should use the elevator instead.

Avoid double basement rooms

Staff are lovely, cats are great but location of my double room was in the communal kitchen area.
Just a stud wall between you and kitchen. Only window in room on to communal area and no air conditioning.
I advise avoid room.
I did ask to be moved but no rooms available and manager emailed standard reply about everyone has different expectations of a room. I expected clean, which I got, and it to be quiet not to be woken by staff having a catch up and generally not trying to be quiet.

I stayed at this property for three nights and it was disappointing. Our room was small but you do get what you paid for, however as a group of girls we did not feel safe. On arrival the staff at the desk were not friendly at all and did not go through anything with us. We were on the third floor and were not shown the fire exit and i believe there was not any cause there was no fire exit signs (we realised this after the fire alarm went off on the third night at 3am in the morning). There was constant knocking at our door through the night and when we asked staff at the desk she said it was the maid however when we told her the maid had already cleaned she said “oh yeah it was me”, clearly tried to cover how unsafe this hotel was. The only thing positive i can say is its in the centre.

The only thing we liked about this hotel is the proximity within major tourist attractions. It was all within walking distances however there is also the tram links for those don’t want to be walking.

The hotel was not the cleanest, non-soundproof rooms meant you could be waking up couple of times during the night due to your neighbours making a racket in the early hours. The room was fairly decent sized. It’s decent for a nights rest as we were out early in the morning and late in the evening. So we was not in the hotel much. Next door to a bike rental place which is very convenient 18 euros for 24 hours.

Tea and coffee supplied till 10pm each day for free. No aC means if its really hot you’ll be toasting.

Overall ok place to stay.

Receptionist was very helpful and tried his best to check us in before the checkin time at 3. Could do without carrying all our luggage up the stairs though. Also the walls were a bit thin as you can hear people going up and down the stairs. Other than that the room served its purpose and we were able to get some rest during our 2 day stay. Location was convenient, it was near a lot of food areas.

Good hotel

The hotel is walking distance to the tram stops, shops and restaurants which is very good. The hotel is clean and the room we stayed in is very quiet, the inly downside was we were given 4 single beds which was good but the bunk bed did not have any ladder to climb up so it was difficult going up and down the bed. The staff was helpful enough with our queries and requests. We were allowed to leave our luggages as we arrived early. I would only suggest that they should put some security on the luggages as anyone can come in and out of the hotel and it is just left below the stairs and we came back a couple of times and the receptionist was not around. Also it is not in a convenient location as one might have an accident. Overall, the hotel was good and staff was very helpful. We would come back to stay there.

Customer service was unbelievable.

Lusi at the Amsterdam Downtown Hotel presented the best customer service I’ve ever had in the 28 years I’ve stayed in hotels. Anything you needed or had questions about, she was right there for you immediately.

The hotel is also in perfect location. You can walk everywhere. It was perfect.

Deposit blocked for almost 3 weeks!

This looks like a family hotel, it’s teriible, room are so small you can’t move, location is great but everything else was really bad, no kettle, no water bottle, no hair dryer in the room. The heater is not working properly we were freezing! Only two plugs in the room!! And most importantly they block your deposit for over 3 weeks! There are so many hotels in the area, try something different.

Perfect Location...no A/C

Great Location! Convenient to everything. Does have some Hostel rooms so be careful. No A/C, Lobby was extremely hot during summer, basement room was fine. Some rooms are very small. Overall Ok, day staff was fabulous, very friendly and willing to help. Let us keep our luggage there during the day prior to check-in so we could go explore. Overall pleasant stay.

Good value for money.

This hotel was one of the cheapest I found that was close to the city centre. It's far from a 5 star hotel but the rooms were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was nice and we didn't have to use public transport to see all the sights. I would defiantly stop hear again.

We had a very small attic room and was told all rooms are the same size. Dissappointed for thhe price we paid. Hotel overall was clean and nice breakfast. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. On questioning this we were told we could make our own coffee downstairs for a fee.

horrible, tiny fifth floor room. two person elevator with out luggage goes only, part way up, then you have to use steps for next floors. eightynine sq feet for a double room. no place for anything. had to stack all luggage on top of stuff. bathroom too small for a normal sized man to use. wake up calls never happened. breakfast selections were terrible. stall breads, not enough food prepared for all guests. juices were sour. worst hotel i. ever experienced

The location is great. You can easily walk to all places from the hotel. It's 100m away from Tram stops, 15min away from Amterdam Centraal Station. The area is well served with restaurants. The breakfast was OK.

A nice stay but bring ear plugs.

Nice stay for a night. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room itself was basic, clean and spacious for a double room. The bath looked recently refitted to a very nice spec however it took a bit of a wait for hot water. My only disappointment was the noisy flooring in the room, hallways and from the rooms above. It was extremely loud and annoying.

The staff wasn't particularly friendly and the bunk beds didn't have any ladders. The poor guys on the top bunks had to jump up or climb up the ends awkwardly. I was the only female in the room with 6 men but thy were all quiet and considerate. The bathroom is in the room which is nice but with seven people it makes the mornings fun. Extremely dated and could be cleaner but it is a fairly good location.

Great place to stay for a family in Amsterdam

We spent 3 fantastic days in Amsterdam. This hotel was in an excellent location, walking distance to the Reijksmuseum, canal tours, restaurants and shops. Very safe and family friendly location. Easy to rent bikes and bike all over. Great breakfast. The room itself was very small and very basic, but my family of 5 each had their own bed in a safe, clean, central location. The desk staff were very helpful and welcoming.

There are no ladders to get up onto the top bunks, to walk between the beds you had to turn sideways, it was loud until 5am, and the water from the shower flooded the bathroom floor every time you used it.

Great Location!

If you are looking for clean room in a great location without the amenities or extra price of a five star hotel, this is the place. You can walk to just about any of the main attractions. Our room was small, but good enough. We came to explore the marvels of Amsterdam, not hang out in our hotel room. We only came back to sleep. It is steps away from Tram 1,2, and 5 which goes to Centraal Station and walking distance to the hop on/off Canal boat. If you have a car, leave it in one of the Park and Ride (P+R) lots a few miles outside of city center for as little as 1 Euro per day if you enter the lot in the evening or on the weekends.

Nice hotel if your not allergic to cats!

The hotel was in a great location and the staff was friendly. The problem with this hotel for me was the fact that they have at least two cats living in the hotel. I have an extreme allergy to cats and this caused much of my Amsterdam trip to be one of sneezing and misery.

Downtown Dump Of A Hotel

This hotel was a shambles, it says breakfast included for dorms on website, when you get there they say you have to pay €5 for breakfast everyday, TV does not work, then the other excuse is it disturbs surrounding neighbours have you ever heard such rubbish. And prices are ridiculous for this dump. Do yourself a favour pick a real hotel and avoid this dump.

No Good for families

Hotel is well located, clos eto main attarctions and staff is very friendly however rooms are small, bed was not confortable and you can listen what is talked in other rooms, so it can be an issue during night. The price is too high, not recomended for families.

good clean hostel. perfect for the backpacker

It was great. No frills, but you can't beat the price. The rooms were clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Couldn't ask for more.

Great location, horrible hotel

Great location but horrible so called hotel. First night, room S01. The room was in the basement with no windows. No remote in sight for the air conditioner or the TV. Had to contend with a horrible bed that sinks in the middle of the bed. Breakfast the next morning was no better. Confronted with the person serving breakfast who was also nursing a bad cold. Upon returning after a day of sightseeing, to find my key card does not work, the night clerk informs me that they had switched rooms on me in the middle of the day as they needed my double bed. At least this new room was on the top floor with a window. Cleanliness in both rooms was questionable.

BEWARE

Hotel was in a great location but in no means was it clean, lots of stains everywhere( sheets, curtains, carpets, ect)... You get what you pay for which is great for students \"slumming\" it like ourselves.

Oda çok küçük oda değil hücre gibi kendi otoparkları var ancak çok pahalı geceliği 40 euro çıkış saatinden sonra her saat için ekstra 7 euro aldılar asla 3 yıldızlık biryer değil 1 bile değil birdaha asla gelmem çalışanlar nazik ve ilgiliydi tek iyi yönü buydu

Super god beliggenhed. Dejligt med parkering i garage og intet problem at man først kan få sin bil ved check ud, da det meste ligger i gå afstand. Venligt personale. Det eneste minus var at radiatoren på værelset ikke virkede optimalt, så det var lidt koldt.
