About The Heron House
Host Chris and Jennifer Wagner welcome you to their private cottage , The Heron House. We are a private cottage on the shores of Eld Inlet in the southern most inlet on Puget Sound.
Our bed and breakfast offers complete privacy and a continental plus breakfast that is placed in your cottage just prior to your arrival . When you have breakfast is when you want to, early or late. The morning newspaper will be at your door when you get up.
We welcome you to enjoy any and all of the amenities avalable here. Kayaking, beachcombing, relaxing by the water or in the back yard gardens by the waterfalls and ponds, hanging in the hammock by the bay or sitting on the deck next to the water.

The place was excellent, my only complaint was the fact we could only stay 1 day. We were headed to Seattle to catch a cruise, and didn’t want to deal with the high prices, plus the World Cup was going on. This was only about a hour drive to Seattle, so it was perfect. The place was wonderfully kept, quiet location next to a lake, It had all the amenities you’d expect, and the owner Jennifer lives very near, so if you have any issues or questions she’s happy to help. Excellent accommodations we’d highly recommend A++

Beautiful location that was private and quiet. Everything was clean and comfortable. Hosts were responsive. Microwave and full fridge- stop by the market before you arrive so you can spend your time kayaking in the lake or reading outside on the deck or porch. Murphy bed in the living room was excellent for extra guests. If you are looking for a chill place book it now!!

This was a perfect stay for a slumber party as 3 adult women celebrating a birthday. It was quiet, peaceful, clean and easy to find. The bed upstairs was super comfy!! We walked down to the waterfront for about an hour and just enjoyed the space. Something to note is that the cabin sits on a hill behind other larger houses. We didn’t quite understand that and felt like we were intruding but no one seemed to mind us there. Beautiful property! I would absolutely recommend and stay again.

Hidden Gem Near the Water — Feels Like Home
The place is absolutely charming—beautiful, spotless, and perfectly located near the water. Everything you need is there to feel right at home. A big bonus: the kayaks are free to use and just a few steps away! Jennifer is incredibly kind and welcoming—be sure to say hi, even though self check-in is available. If you need anything before your arrival, it's best to call her directly, as she doesn’t check her email regularly. I’ll happily stay at her place again if I’m in the area, and I 100% recommend this little gem!

Really an exceptionally beautiful little spot on the water with easy proximity to downtown Olympia by car - about 15 minutes. This cabin made a one-night business trip into a nice little respite away. Leave even time in between meetings for a beach walk!

We loved this beautiful and tastefully appointed cabin in Olympia. It was a great stopping point en route to the Oregon Coast for a camping trip, and our young kids enjoyed seeing the lake. It was very safe which was fantastic as we didnt see the need to unload our hitch and cargo box which made it much faster to carry on with our journey the next day. The hosts are fantastic and communicative; I would stay here again!

It's a lovely little log cabin in the woods. It is not right on the water, (you need to walk down a paved and well lit, albeit steep driveway) but there is a nice area to hang out by the water - they even have kayaks that you could use. My only 2 complaints are that A) it's really dark in the cabin and it would be well served by having more lamps (that work) and better bulbs. B) While there is a sink, full refrigerator, toaster oven and microwave. There's no range or oven, hence don't go buy expensive fresh fish and expect to cook it here.... Overall, it was quiet and private and set right in the woods. There is limited walking around the area as there are no sidewalks.

Cabin not on the water.
The cabin shows pictures of water and a hammock along the shore. In reality the cabin sits up on a hill with 2 homes blocking the view. Through the trees you can see a little bit of the bay. Not good for ADA. We were there 4 nights and was only stocked with some muffins and old looking cereal. There was some fresh cherries and grapes. The toilet is very small, not standard size. Be prepared to back up on steep driveway to drive uphill from the cabin. It is a pretty cabin and it is in a nice location out of Olympia.

Amazing stay!!
We had such a nice stay in the Heron House! The bed was very comfy, and both bathroom and kitchen were well stocked. We really enjoyed the view and appreciated how supportive they were with our check-in. This was the best stay of our trip and we will absolutely seek it out again for future trips to Shelton.

Lovely cabin but description stated two queen size beds. The second bed is a blowup bed in living room which should have been clearly stated in description. Owners should consider getting a queen hideabed sofa instead. Pulling out and inflating an inflatable bed is akward in the small area which is what we had to do with 3 adults.

Definitely booking a return stay!!
On arrival check in was a breeze, contactless and well communicated. We arrived at night and had our own illuminated parking lot feet from the cabin where we could easily back in and pull directly out of the driveway without intruding on anybody. The cabin itself sits at the top of the driveway from the main home and in a beautifully wooded property with privacy and a view. Inside the cabin was something to behold, a real log cabin with a kitchen stocked with all the plates, glasses, mugs and utensils needed for your stay. Jennifer left fresh fruits, muffins and a few refreshments in the fridge as well as a mixture of breakfast cereals on the counter. The private full bathroom downstairs was large and complete with a shower, mirror, shaving / makeup mirror, toilet and laundry room. Family and Dining room allowed us to put our feet up and enjoy our favorite streaming service on the tv. Upstairs loft offers a King Size soft bed that gave us an amazing sleep. In the morning we enjoyed our coffee on the porch with nature all around us, peaceful and a great way to start the morning. Our minds were blown when we walked inside this cozy A framed log cabin and we were already talking about booking longer stays for next time. Definitely booking a return stay!! Thank you to our hosts for their hospitality, professionalism and kindness! A+ stay

My husband, my son and I stayed at the cabin for 2 nights. We were amazed at how beautiful the cabin is and so comfortable. The air up mattress we did not know until arrival, but my teen age son had no issues sleeping on it except it kept going somewhat flat. Really enjoyed the continental breakfast, muffin, orange juice, cereal, and fruit. Loved the view of the water from the cabin just not within walking distance as we hoped. Would stay at the Heron House again if we are in Washington.

Very comfortable stay! The Heron house is a quiet cottage with plenty of room for a couple seeking a getaway. Continental breakfast was a nice touch, and the cabin had all the modern amenities one could need. Short walk to lakeside access, ran into Chris (owner) and he was a gracious host who welcomed us to the grounds. Would definitely stay again if we come visit the Shelton, WA area!

Cozy comfy cabin
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Heron House! It was so quaint and super comfortable. It was nice for our family to have a space where it was just us. The kids could be a little noisy and not bother the room next door! The kids slept on an air mattress downstairs while we took the bed in the loft. It was perfect for our little family. We enjoyed the muffins too😊

Heron House is a wonderful place to stay. A couple of clarifications to the Expedia listing for this property: it says two queen beds but one of the queen beds is a blowup bed on the living room floor. You should also know that there are steep steps to the front door and also steep stairs to the loft queen bed. Bathroom is on the main floor. If stairs or blowup beds are a problem this will not be the best choice for you. We had a wonderful stay. The continental breakfast in the fridge is a nice touch. Fully equipped kitchen is well stocked. We would definitely stay here again.

A great little cabin in a quiet little suburb outside the city. Would have been even better if we had been there in the summer to use the kayaks. Make sure to read the welcome book upon arrival, it has all the info you'll need.

The cabin itself is beautiful. Gas heating stove kept temperature well. Fruit, muffins and breakfast cereals were nice. Sign next to road could be more-easily readable. Markings on parking spot for easy departure maneuvering on steep driveway would help.

Big confusion since the ELD property is actually the HERON house, and the name change led to wasted time and an angry woman who berated us for trying to get into the lock box of the ELD house. Also, the actual rental is not by the lake, so the photo with a hammock by water should show a log cabin in the woods. More info is needed to describe a cabin above the lake, and no meet and greet. I explained this to the irate owner.
