Hotel Por Santa Maria was great! Location was absolutely perfect, it was within a ten minute walk to just about every single place we wanted to go. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. The set up of the place was a little odd, it’s as if you’re staying in an apartment and then renting out individual rooms, so they each lock with a key but the fridge is for sharing out in the main area, as well as the reception is right out your door as if it were in like a “living room” of an apartment. Service was great though, due to the place I didn’t expect housekeeping and they did! They had a fridge with refreshments to buy, and just were overall very nice and lovely. Room was great but I did think it was one large queen but it was two twin beds pushed together which wasn’t great but it was fine, and room had a tiny mini safe. Overall would absolutely stay again, particularly for the location!!!

A little confusing at first to find the actual hotel in the building. You can't find a better location if you want to walk around Florence. Cab took me right to the door from the airport. I am an older female and was travelling on my own, but never felt unsafe.

The property is located centrally to visit most of the typical tourist sites in downtown Rome such as Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Coliseum, etc. Close to lots of dining options at various price points. We walked most everywhere, and took the Metro or a cab to a few places. Helpful staff, great breakfast provided in the morning. Elevator (small) to get bags to your room. Not handicap friendly, but our room had a nice bathroom and king bed. Will assist in reserving a cab to the airport or from the airport for ease of travel. Would definitely go back here.

We were pleasantly surprised. The owners, Ines and her boyfriend, run the hotel and made us feel like family. Everything was very clean and comfortable, and the hotel is conveniently located. We will certainly be back on our next trip to Florence!

Perfect and very safe. Great location, within walking distance from most points of attractions. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. I really appreciated the safety precautions in that we were given a keys to main street door, then to door to access the rooms on 4th floor and the one for our individual room. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Responded quickly when asked to help navigate remote to thermostat in the room and called a taxi for us upon checking out. If you want a great location at a good price, this is your place!

Great location, great rates, friendly owners

No-frills, small hotel (eight rooms?) run by a very friendly and fluent German couple. Clean and comfortable.
Breakfast is not included but is easily obtainable in the neighborhood. Fantastic location adjacent to the Piazza della Signoria (although ongoing construction makes the entrance a bit difficult to find!).

Owners are a lovely your couple, this is a small place with 8 rooms. Clean, comfortable bed, good shower pressure, air conditioned, elevator in the main building. Surprisingly quiet considering the area is very busy. No TV in the rooms, not a negative for me. There is a common use refrigerator. Good WiFi.

Loved the location and the people running it are nice and accessible.
The air conditioning is the best we had while in Italy!
Feels like you are living in an apartment or townhouse, not a traditional hotel experience. Very reasonably priced and great location!

It was centrally located and in the morning of Sunday, they had a Horse Parade from the Municipality/Police dept. Perfect to be there. A bit pricy without breakfast or water or coffee. Shared bathroom with another room .. usually not my cup of tea but it was clean. Shower area very small. there is space and it could have been made a bit better. Lighting can be improved especially for shaving.. one can barely see since the light is opaque and so high. I suggested to the owner that he just drops an electrical cord and put a brighter light!! one highlight was there was a sink in the bedroom.

This location is absolutely amazing. In touching distance of everything you want to see. The room was clean but basic, but don’t let that deter you from using this hotel as your base. Florence is what you’re there to see not the inside of a hotel room.

Really homely feel to this place, very nice and super central - right on the Piazza Della Signoria. Florence is a small city, so staying here will mean you're within a stone's throw of just about every major monument, including being about a 1 minute walk to the Uffizi and a 2 minute walk to the Duomo.
Nice room, really helpful blonde lady behind the desk who was lovely and welcoming.
Definitely recommend if you're in Florence - I'll be back:)

This hotel is a bit of a challenge to find as it is situated on the 4th floor of a residential building. It is more like a B&B. There was a small signage right to the door that indicates it is Hotel Por Santa Maria. We buzzed the bell and we took the elevator up. The owner of the hotel was very friendly and it seemed a family B&B business. The location of the hotel is about 20-25 minute walk from the Firenze SMN station. It is situated right in the heart of Firenze and everything was so convenient, either going to Galleria dell'Accademia or Ponte Vecchio. Although a bit traditional, I find this overall a satisfactory experience. I'd recommend to my friends.

I really enjoyed staying here! For the price, you can’t get any better. The location was perfect, the staff were very friendly. I had to share a bathroom and had no issues at all, and the water pressure and temperature were perfect! The mattress isn’t the most comfortable, and the sheets/blankets are a little thin. The wifi is great

Nice hotel in the middle of Florence

The room was small, but it was doable for two people. The location was perfect. It was so easy to get to from the train station, and everything was in walking distance from the hotel. It took about five minutes to walk to the Duomo, five to the Uffizi, and about ten to the Galleria dell'Accademia. The staff was very kind and they kept our room and bathroom very clean!

The location couldn't be better, but it was not a comfortable stay. There was low-quality water-proof mattress protector underneath sheet, so it felt like sleeping on plastic bag. It was raining that night and the noise from rain water running off the roof splashing the out-building was loud and annoying. i spot two mosquitoes in the room. The room is very small, though the bath room is spacious.

Great location!

This is a budget hotel. The room was small but clean and we had a portable AC. Good size bathroom, but tiny shower. Wi-fi works very good. No tv or minibar, but for a 1 star hotel we didn't expect too much.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
There's no 24hr staff, they will give you keys to the building, hotel and your room. You have to let them know beforehand if you are going to arrive after 8pm.
Overall, good hotel if you're on a budget. Location is unbeatable.

A Great Find, Great Price!

At first, I was going to write about the caution to travelers about my stay here. It's unique to my travels around Europe that it's more an apartment type setting- no ongoing reception, tiny elevator and shower, etc but then I met the woman who's family owned the hotel.

She was friendly, kind, understanding. I added an extra person to the room for a night or two and she didnt charge extra. I moved the table to be in front of the window- allowing warm sun to spill on me as I wrote and surfed the excellent free Wifi and they were understanding.

Its a bargain for the unbeatable location. And even with the tiny room size, the heat in Jan made the room very warm, and bed was surprisingly comfortable.

For budget travelers- its highly recommended.

If arriving by train just source a map and walk! Much faster / easier than following their instructions!! Amazing location (however the street noise made it hard to sleep and ensured we were awake early!), friendly/helpful staff, large clean room and bathroom.

Small and il-equipt but cheap with free wifi

5 nights wasn't so bad, the bed was hard but sleepable. Aircon unit was portable (with a condensation pipe sticking out the window) but worked well and it was very humid during my time in Florence. The shower was tiny, I literally had an inch between both my shoulders and the sides and the shower head bracket was loose and kept tilting forwards. The rest of the bathroom was fine. No TV or minibar and only a small table to put wallet/phone/camera/brochures etc. but there was free wifi which was the fastest I used in Italy.

This hotel was lovely and the location was fantastic!! It is situated right in the middle of Florence. Reading reviews we were worried about the noise from the street at night as it can be quite busy late on, however I did not find the noise outside to be an issue. We had the a/c on at night so you could only hear that. Be wary that the hotel does not have a big sign outside so go with street names and numbers and you'll find it. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Firenze SMN train station.

Just steps away from Piazza Della Signoria

Ideal location for visiting Piazza Della Signoria,piazza also has very nice restaurants at reasonable rates in the square which is always a hive of activity with locals as well as tourists enjoying busker music as well as art works plus the Uffizzi art gallery.
We walked from the railway station pulling our bags maybe a 15 minute walk.after pushing the doorbell of the building the door opened without any confirmation of who might be there we then had to figure out where the hotel was situated in the building we only accomplished that by looking at the button board in the elevator (lift) which indicated the fourth floor when we arrived at the desk there was a young man sitting there who apparently must of opened the door, he was pleasant enough & spoke good English but it would of been nice to have been greeted at the front door even by voice over the intercom, would of been adequate. However the place was clean, comfortable,secure, & air conditioned, however they do not serve breakfast

Excellent location, a few metres from the Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi. Five minutes walk to the Duomo and 12 minutes to the train station.

Hotel is on the fourth floor, so best to use the small lift. Room was small, but clean and had a/c and a ceiling fan. En suite was very clean with a tiny shower, but considering the location and the price, it was ideal for a few nights.

Reception is not 24 hours, so you keep the keys.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I definitely recommend it. It has the perfect location. From my room window, I could see the entrance door to the Museo di Palazzo Vecchio, and the sculptures in front of it (thus the hotel is very close to the Palazzo della Signoria). I could not have asked for a better location for what I paid.
Actually this is not a standard hotel (not a hostel either). The hotel is on the 4th floor of a building and has only 8 rooms. The check-in is only until 8pm. After 8pm there is noone tending the place. So, when you check-in you are given three keys, one to your room, one to the hotel and one to the building the hotel is in. That could be some safety concern. But, carrying key to a building that is right in the middle of everything in Florence felt very good. I could enter the hotel building and the hotel any time by using my keys.
I had a single room with no shower/toilet. The room had a sink, an AC unit, a table, etc. I used the common bathroom, and it was not a problem for me. The room was small, but I had everything that I needed. The hotel had free wireless internet (the password for the wireless was the longest password that I have seen... I had a real laugh when I saw the length of the password...). If you are looking for a basic place in the middle of the city, then this is a good place. But, be aware that everything is basic and it is not a standard hotel. The people at the reception desk were helpful and very nice, smiley.
