DONT STAY HERE. This was not a budget hotel—we chose it because it was more expensive than other options and expected better quality. That was a mistake.
The room we were given while traveling with our teenage daughter was extremely small and visibly dirty. There was thick dust throughout the room, especially on top of the closets. On the second day, we found hair in the bed after lifting the sheets. The walls were so thin that we could hear everything from the next room. Before leaving, we checked under the bed and were shocked by the amount of dust and debris—it was unlike anything we’ve seen in years of traveling. All of this is documented with photos.
Parking was chaotic and confusing. Staff instructed us to drive to the hotel, then seemed confused about our car. One night we were told parking was unavailable and sent back into the city; the next morning they warned us about possible tickets. No one appeared to understand their own system.
Breakfast was poorly managed. Although advertised as 7:00–10:00, food was consistently gone early and rarely replenished, even before 8:45 AM. Staff seemed annoyed when guests asked about the breakfast issue. Reception staff were distracted and unprofessional, and customer service was essentially nonexistent. We have traveled extensively for over a decade and have never experienced a hotel this unhygienic and poorly managed. There are many wonderful places to stay in Florence—this is not one of them. Parking issue was a disaster, too.

The location of this property is incredible! It is in the epicenter of everything a visitor would want; museums, the rail station, city center, upscale shopping and restaurants, historic sites... plus, it is a lovely hotel with a very friendly staff.

Really nice hotel, couldn't be more central than that, 3 minutes from the Duomo and 3' from Palazzo Vecchio. The room is comfy, wifi works ok and the breakfast is ok. Really recommended if you don't have a car, because the garage they use has to collect and bring it back and everytime is about 20-30'. But if you just arrive there, leave the car and get it when you check out is perfect, also not expensive at 30 euro per day (small car)

We loved this hotel! The location couldn’t be better — just a minute’s walk from the Florence Duomo, and you can even see the Duomo right from the reception window. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and they even welcomed us with free wine, which was such a nice touch. Breakfast had good, standard options, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, sharing great tips on exploring Florence. A warm and welcoming stay in the heart of the city!

Very helpful receptionist who offered good information. We felt that everything offered was as cheap as possible eg paper cups for hot drinks in bedroom, low quality food for breakfast. Room was acceptable, but had scaffolding and walkways across the window. Hairdryer (if that is what it was) in bathroom was unusual and useless. However the location was fantastic so it’s fine if you’re ok with quirky furnishing and basic facilities.

Stayed 3 nights. The hotel is perfectly located in the center of Florence, just a short walk from all the main sights (eg. Duomo). We appreciated the simplicity, cleanliness, and charm of the place. The hotel is perfect for those looking for convenience and relaxing atmosphere while in the heart of Florence.

Bit of a downside is that it can be noisy if your room is by the staircase and facing the street like ours. Hotel also requires you to leave your room key whenever you go out, which seems odd but didn’t have any issues with it.

The staff were amamzing. We were greeted with such enthusiasm. The room was more than adequate for our needs. There are noise in the hallways a couple of times but it was guests (old people) talking loudly and not being considerate. I don't consider this a fault of the hotel. The brakfast was very good for just 8 euros. Loved having a window we could open and the view of the Duomo in the distance.

Staff was very friendly. I booked the economy old quadruple room for 2 people, and the lady at the front desk said it was a big room for just us. In actuality it was the perfect size when compared to American hotel rooms.

Didn’t know the elevator only goes to the 3rd floor, so of course our room was on the 4th and we walked 2 flights of stairs every day without help with our luggage. I traveled with my 80 year old mother so you can imagine what that was like. Though the benefit of the 4th floor is that it’s quiet. Also the shower tub is very high to step over.

Last thing I’ll say is you have to turn your room key in every time you leave the hotel, and pick it up at the front desk when you come back. Seemed weird/unsafe to me since they don’t check your ID to prove that it’s your room when you ask for the room key back, but may be a norm here. They also give you a separate key to let yourself in and out of the front of the hotel when there is no one at the front desk (midnight to 7am I believe).

Advice: Use the front desk to call taxis for you as they are very hard to get in Florence on your own. You could also use Uber but they are 2x the price.

Would I stay here again? Probably not.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Florence! The location couldn’t be better — it’s within walking distance to everything you might need, including wonderful restaurants, shops, and even the train station. It’s also very close to the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo, which made sightseeing so easy and enjoyable. The rooms were comfortable and well kept, and the staff was warm and welcoming. I highly recommend adding the breakfast option — the spread was excellent with plenty of fresh and delicious choices, a perfect way to start the day before exploring the city. Overall, a fantastic stay and we would definitely return!

Great location in the city centre, walkable to everything. The hotel reception is on the 3rd floor which is accessible via a small lift (2 people & suitcases). It looked tired in places, showing wear and tear. While we were there there was a blackout and the staff were helpful, taping touches to the banister up the stairs, providing bottled water and hand fans for the heat. Bathroom door didn't have a lock, wires above bathroom mirror, TV directly above Daughters bed. Bathroom was a wet room and when the floor was wet it was very slippery, had to wear flip flops all the time in bathroom. I would say this was a b&b standard not a 3star hotel

Perfect location , couldn't have been better. Literally everything we wanted was max 10 min walk away. Room was clean, could smell the disinfectant on entry haha. One of the biggest rooms I stayed in on my Italy trip so far. Yes very small and slow elevator which seems common in these older Italian buildings. However the location cannot be beat, size and comfort of room. Older look aesthetically but that did not matter. Safe and secure, even when returning after midnight there are safeguards for access. Definitely recommend

Our host was incredibly kind and friendly and definitely one of the best parts of the stay. The hotel itself was an older but attractive building. The location was very convenient and around many shops and restaurants. We stayed in an economy room that was really adorable. It was very affordable as well! I reserved the single economy room. I was traveling alone so wasn’t concerned with “stairway only” access, nor the bed that is smaller than a standard twin. It’s an old building but everything works and is super convenient for walking to all the city center sites with Duomo only a few steps away. The staff are all very helpful in every way. The breakfast was satisfying and plentiful so saved some money on that meal. I stayed 4 nights and the cost savings was amazing. If I had not been alone I would not have reserved the single economy and even considered asking for an upgrade but I spent most of my waking hours seeing the city, so opted to stick it out. I should have brought a longer charging cable and multiple 110-220 plug adapters. There were only two plugs and both were. Too far to have my phone at my bedside and charging while I slept. The room did not face the street so had a pretty quiet night for sleep. The loss of any view was compensated by that fact of a good nights sleep.

Our room was not very good. The toilet didn't flush properly. We had to open the toilet tank every time we wanted to flush. The radiator in the bathroom was overheating the entire room, so we had to open the windows to cool down the room, but then mosquitos got into our room and their buzzing kept us up at night. The location is very good, just a few minutes from the cathedral, but this means it is very noisy at night with so much street activity.

I recently stayed at the Maxim Axial Hotel and found the hotel itself to be quite good, with comfortable accommodations and a great location. However, an unfortunate incident involving a staff member significantly tarnished our experience.

During our stay, while waiting for the elevator, I encountered inappropriate behavior from a female staff member with short black hair. She tugged on my shirt despite me being a distance away from the elevator door and also slapped my mother's hand away while she was selecting the floor. This unprofessional behaviour was both distressing and surprising, particularly in a hospitality setting.

I raised this issue with the hotel management but five days later, I have yet to receive a response. It’s disappointing that such a serious matter hasn’t been addressed, as I believe every guest deserves a respectful environment.

Overall, while the hotel itself met our expectations, the lack of communication and the incident with staff overshadowed our stay. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously to enhance the guest experience in the future.
