I booked through Expedia. The property management is unreliable. I was unable to check in on the first night, even though I had messaged the owner with our arrival time in advance. I tried all possible means of contact, including email, emergency calls, and messages, but received no response.
At around 11:00 PM, I had no choice but to find another hotel to stay at. This is the first time I have encountered such difficulties with a hotel check-in.

The lower stars for specifics are due to an incredibly uncomfortable conversation with their Concierge when I was asking for assistance with a private transfer from Florence to Sorrento and he literally laughed at me and then started talking negatively about his ex-wife and women in general. The hotel itself is in a picture perfect location, gorgeous view from the room, very nice and clean, and recently renovated bathroom. Just do your best to not have to speak with the concierge longer than the check in process. (All other staff was very kind)

Disappointing experience

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my stay at this hotel was unfortunately quite disappointing, despite the location being very convenient.
To start, the receptionist Marcello(Marcel) took a photo of our passports with his personal cellphone which we thought was unusual. Also, he was very rude and unapproachable. When we did ask for help, he was unprofessional and dismissive. Therefore when we noticed our safe wasn’t working, we didn’t feel comfortable asking him for more help. The room had a strange odour especially in the bathroom. Also, the shutters could not be adjusted and the room had no natural light. Overall, the lack of professionalism was frustrating and disappointing, and we wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Our room was on the fourth floor and was small. The room had several broken items: the bathroom pocket doors were very hard to close from the inside, we had to help each other, soap holder in the shower kept falling off, bedside table had a broken leg, and the safe's batteries were dead. Great location on the square. The B&B is conveniently located and you can walk to all sightseeing attractions.
My room overlooked the squre, but I found the noises of the people below to be charming.

We left this hotel 30 minutes after checking in due to a deeply uncomfortable experience. The front desk staff made multiple inappropriate comments about marriage and roles within a marriage, which felt invasive and unprofessional.

The room was bare bones and extremely outdated, including the bedding.

The hotel itself is in an extremely loud environment, and the photos made it appear much nicer than it actually was.

The experience was unsettling and disappointing from the moment we checked in. When I asked for a refund I was told I should have gone to management earlier about the inappropriate comments (we left right away and there was only 1 person on property) and even after stating we were checking out early we were still charged for the full original stay.

I would not recommend this property.

Room is hot and I requested if we can turn on air conditioner but staff said there is a law that prohibits to turn on aircon not until 1st of May, He suggested to open window but because it is in the main square that it is noisy when you open window. It's difficult to sleep.

This property is not a hotel, it is just a building recycled into rooms for tourists without any attempt of providing good service for paying customers. If you book this place you are expected to make arrangements with the people in charge, tell them when you are planning to arrive and fix an appointment in order to check in and get access to the room you paid in advance, As soon as I understood this, I tried to cancel my booking but all my attempts were disregarded by both the people at Soggiorno Battistero and Expedia itself, even if I was a VIP customer. The information in the Expedia website is misleading, plain false bit apparently they don't care much, even if you let them know about it.

5 Starts for View, 2 Stars for Hotel

I will admit that I am sort of a “hotel snob” and judge hotels at a high standard, so here’s an honest review with the pro’s and con’s:
PRO’s: the view’s of the square are AMAZING. The balcony view is great. Also, just about everything you need and want is minutes away. We were able to walk to museum’s, squares, shopping, etc. within literal minutes.
CON’s: The room is NOT up to my standards. Yes, the building is hundreds of years old, but the bedding was old and had multiple stains all over it, including the couch. There were hairs (yes, medium size black and gray hairs; and my whole family has blonde hair so it wasn’t ours) in all four beds. There was an alive silverfish bug in my daughter’s bed. And the breakfast was okay, but more like a Best Western and not the breakfast shown or described (it was cereal, yogurt, muffins and fruit. The cappuccino machine was cool though). Lastly, this is out of the hotels control, but because of the “night life” on the square, you can hear people drinking and laughing until about two in the morning. Again, I’m not docking that on the hotel because it’s not their fault, but you should be aware.
I’m giving 5 stars for the location, and 2 stars for the hotel itself (so we’ll say a total of 3 stars).
Just a fully honest review.
Would I stay again? My wife says “no”, but my kids said “yes” (daughter doesn’t know about the silverfish) :-)

Wonderful view and helpful staff

Check in is on the 4 th floor. Once we finally found the reception area, the employee who checked us in went above and beyond to be helpful. Gave us a map with recommendations and brought a complementary bottle of wine and glasses to our room. Very friendly. Our suite had an excellent view and plenty of space for our family of 6. Tons to see within walking distance.

The view to the Duomo is incredible. I stayed during Christmas and New Years. There were a lot of tourists even though it is off season. There is a lot of Italian merry making in the wee hours. This did not bother me since most of the time it was happy noise. I already miss the sounds of horse hooves on cobblestone, churchbells and opera man. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowlegeble. Special kudos to Marcel and Gilles. Everyone there works very hard for you to have a nice stay.

Little gem in front of the Duomo

This hotel is a Gem… i was hesitant at first because of certain reviews but I regret nothing! Location is great, breakfast simple and delicious. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Water jet in shower was weak but I mean whatever…i’m just complaining because i’m a curly girl and it would have taken ages if I had to wash my hair any of those days. Overall the service was excellent. Marcelo greeted us and he was amazing! He showed us the best spots in Florence and gave us some useful tips and tricks. Note that someone was always in communication with us in regards checkin and it went smoothly same with checkout. Honestly just book and you will love it.

Checkin must be coordinated with staff and parking/driving there is difficult. Had a tour the next day that we missed bc the parking garage didn’t open early enough for us to leave on time. The area around the hotel is beautiful but the hotel itself is horrible. Dirty, with bugs everywhere, holes in the walls, air conditioning does not work properly. Bathroom is dirty and outdated. No water - only offered a 10% discount

We stayed in room 8 at the Soggiorno Battistero from June 21 to June 23. The location is very convenient: however, the building is incredibly sketchy. The stairwell to get to the 5th floor is unlit, dirty, and unsafe. The room was outdated, but the bathroom was very spacious and nice.
Most importantly, on our first night, the water suddenly completely shut off. We called the emergency phone number immediately to report the outage. The water was not back on until the afternoon of June 22. Additionally the elevator was out for most of our trip.
This really affected our stay in a negative way. I spoke to someone on the phone who was very kind, but said he could only offer me a 10% discount on the stay. This issue is much bigger than 10% as we could not shower, brush our teeth, or even flush the toilet for over 15 hours. I would not recommend staying here.

Haven’t stayed in a hotel this bad in 30 years. There was a very strong unpleasant chemical smell like glue in the room (room 7, family room). It was so strong we had to sleep with the window open and it still gave me an asthma attack. We couldn’t stay in the room because of the smell. There were no available rooms to move us to so we had to get another hotel and Soggiorno Battistera refused to give us a refund because we “chose to leave”. We lost more than $1k. Half of the things in the room were broken (safe, window shutters) and there was no working Wi-Fi. There was also no fire escape or smoke alarms. There was also a leak in the ceiling. I have no idea how they are allowed to operate. Expedia should be ashamed to list them. We certainly do not recommend you stay here.

The property doesn't have a front desk person, this is a B&B, not a hotel. The location is great, but if you have trouble sleeping with noise, this is not the place to stay they are above 2 bars that play loud music and are open till 2-3 am. We didn't have any issues as the loudness didn't interfere with our sleep. This shouldn't be a VIP property they can't provide any of the VIP services such as a free bottle or voucher for a discount because they don't even have a restaurant or the amenities within the B&B. The AC wouldn't even cool down enough although the room was small good thing it rained and the temperature outside dropped to 60's so we were comfortable, but it was hot outside forget it.

The building is under construction so when you walk in its very deceiving. The sign with the address is very small. However when you figure out how to get to the rooms its very beautiful. They do need more staff as the one man there does everything. The location is great. We were supposed to get a food/beverage credit but didn't we paid a tax when we left in euros in addition to what we paid prior. Location is great tho.

I had an amazing time at Soggiorno Battistero. It was magical to look out over the Duomo and Baptistery. The best part was the concierge, Marcel. Location and amazing view! When it says it’s close to the Duomo it means just a few steps away. My view is the Duomo. I really enjoyed my stay here in this traditional apartment building. I stayed in a single room and although small it was perfect. The bed was very comfortable and with the kettle and fridge I had all I needed. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, breakfast was basic but that was fine. There was a TV but I didn’t watch it. Bathroom was small but had everything one needs, reminder my room was a single and I know other rooms here are larger. Walking distance to the train station and sites. I would definitely stay here again.

I was in a room described as having “no view of the cathedral” and instead had a full view of the baptistery and had to slightly lean out of the window to see the cathedral (although that’s partially obscured by scaffolding at the time of writing).
