Location good. Room small. Bathroom ok. There was a kettle in the room which was a pleasant surprise. No recycling options. Breakfast disappointing with limited options and empty baskets. A few slices of white bread and one lonely croissant. Positives; good location for city centre, short walk to the Duomo.

Booked an upgraded double room, got a very small room as they got our booking mixed up with someone else, who them got our room, when we went to leave they said our car was ready for pick up, had to wait another 20-30 mins for them to keep telling us the bus boy was here for payment, never saw him, just paid at the desk (which we weren't told was something we could do) and just left

The staff was beyond helpful with helping us carry the strollers for both our babies up and down the staircases every time we entered the hotel despite the lobby being on a separate floor from the entrance.

Our room had a classic feel but was well maintained and the bathrooms were recently renovated.

Location near the Duomo and the piazza. The only frustrating thing about the room is you have to use the room key for power, meaning you cannot charge anything (like a phone or computer) unless you’re in the room. Breakfast fare was a nice variety and the gal running the breakfast room was delightful!

This is NOT a 4 star hotel. I don’t understand how this property has such a great rating. Avoid.

Upon arrival, you have to carry luggage up stairs to get to elevator. Reception is on level 1. No bellhop although when booking said there was one.

Checking in - reception did not go over what in the mini bar was complimentary and what was not. Told us our room was on the 5th floor, which required taking elevator to the 4th and then carrying luggage upstairs. I asked “we have to go up the stairs again?” in disbelief. Reception did not ask if we needed assistance.

Room - this room was essentially in the attic. Stuffy as if no one had been there in ages. Killed 2 bugs in first 20 mins. Dead bug in shower. Shower was tiny. I am 5’6 135lbs and felt very restricted. Room was quite large, but did not resemble photos. Found a bug deterrent wall plug in the closet, which we ended up plugging in ourselves.

Toiletries - we had 2 shower caps, 1 cup (2 people), towels, and hand soap. No shampoo, body soap, lotion, or standard toiletries that would be expected, especially at a 4 star hotel.There was a bottle of hand soap in the shower. I had to go ask reception if they had shampoo and shower gel and they sent the maid to our room, who was confused what i was asking for but ended up bringing the right missing items after explaining.

Pros - location and room size. Nothing else.

Could have booked something for less money that would’ve been much better quality!

When we arrived, we had just been rear ended in our rental car and it was very hot. Cecilia was so helpful! She brought us cold water and made the check-in process very easy. She handled the valet for our car and took us straight to our room. The room was clean and comfortable, very pretty and a great bathroom. Easy to walk anywhere from here and loads of good shopping and restaurants nearby. At checkout, she held our luggage while we went out for the day and our car was returned promptly when we needed to leave. The breakfast was great! Highly reccomend.

The strozzi palace hotel has a great location for walking to all the sites. Staff was super helpful, took our car to parking lot and ensured it was back in time for early morning flights. Room clean, bed comfortable… only complaint would be that air conditioning didn’t cool the room and even when the temperature was adjusted down it still didn’t cool the room.

Worst experience ever! After a long 5 hour drive to the hotel just to be informed that they had overbooked and we didn’t have a room, worst feeling ever. The person in the front desk didn’t even care at all. We were informed that they didn’t have our contact information, which is a lie, to let us know, and then they booked us on another hotel not in a centralized location. If I could rate the hotel less than 0 I would. The other 2 families traveling with us also had a terrible experience at this hotel, no parking provided. Do not stay in this hotel. Worst experience ever!!

Great find this hotel....

Very well located hotel, friendly staff, comfy bed, good sized room and bathroom. Bedroom had big wardrobe and a free safe. Good wifi in hotel. Breakfast was free but a bit basic.

No parking, didn't use their service as it was cheaper to drive to garage and park ourselves.

Great value for the good quality on offer at the hotel and the location is fantastic.

Very happy with our stay mainly because we booked a really spacious junior suite and the fantastic location walkable to every attraction. Hotel is tucked away one block from busy Piaza della Republica on a quiet street. This more than made up for the less than impressive entry up a narrow stairway to the elevator and reception. There is always at least person at reception desk who is always kind and helpful.

Great location and nice facilities. Very close to the Duomo. Like most buildings in Italy, elevator here is small (this one only fits 3 people, 2 if they have luggage) and first floor has few steps before reaching it so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues.

Admittedly, the elevator doesn't go all of the way to the street level, but there's a chair lift if you need it, and the porter was there in a shot when we arrived. We would certainly stay again at the Strozzi Palace Hotel.

Not really a 4 star hotel. Stay one night and judge for yourself. Our air conditioning was intermittent despite being set for 20 degrees C it never cooled below 24 C. Beds were very hard, and I mean hard. We’ve spent a lot of time in hotels and are very familiar with good and not good mattresses. We booked this as it was close to where we really wanted to stay but were unable. That said it has a great location, no question. Would not be staying there again unless nothing else available and they lowered their rating to a 3 star hotel.

Excellent location with many attractions within walking distance. Hotel staff were extremely helpful. Bedroom cleaniness and space exceeded our expectations considering Italy's standards. No bars and restaurants by the hotel allowing travelers to sleep well at night. The previous hotel we stayed at in Florence was a different story, it was a night and day difference. So glad we paid extra and stayed at Strozzi instead?

We stayed here for 4 nights in July. The hotel is centrally located, just a very short stroll to Duomo, Ultrano, Ponte Vecchi and the main high end shopping streets of Florence.
You have to lug your baggage up a flight of steps to access a very small lift to get to reception on 1st floor.
There is a horrible smell that is worse in the afternoon - we unfortunately could smell it inside our room. It pretty much killed any positive first impression I had.
If you prefer the central location at a budget, stay here.

On arrival the reception was on the first floor, always an issue.
When entering the breakfast facilities were small, only seven tables and the reception area, two couches and a Pc on a table.
Reception people were great and friendly.
But, as there is always, we had been given full board, not that we wanted this in Florence, though, it had persuaded us to book the hotel being a 4 Star.
Anyway they obviously did not offer facilities for for lunch or dinner, but unknown to us the really nice staff phoned Expedia, who honoured dinner x 3 nights at a local Resturant. Nice but not the point.
The bedroom was small, not enough room for clothes, a drawer that could only open if you held back the mirrored sliding door, and a shower area where you had no room to put your essentials to wash with.
As I said the location in the old town was great.

Very expensive hotel for what you pay.

Hotel is old and run down. Extremely basic eg.plastic cups for tea making facilities.
Very good position next to Piazza della Republica but rooms are not 4 star standard.
Stayed in another much better hotel that was also 4 star and very much cheaper.
Big problem with the reception desk being on the first floor. You need to climb a set of stairs before you get to reception, with all your luggage.

I booked another hotel; Orbitz switched us to this place due to \"overbooking\". Definitely NOT 4-star quality, rather disappointing. Felt like a 2-star. Breakfast marginal, only amenity in bath was bad shampoo/shower gel. Nice to have bath robe, though. TV small and marginal service. Most employees helpful and nice. Room furnishings very old and tired. This place needs SERIOUS remodeling. Styrofoam water cup in room was dirty inside on arrival. One of the receptionists smoking in the lounge area but cigarette hanging out of window. Also, outside front door with door open. Italy is bad enough with smokers everywhere, but when you book a non-smoking room, smoke should not be leaking in! Although the location is very central to tourist attractions, it's difficult to get a good night's sleep because of the street noise at night - all night. Too many loud drunks yelling. And we are sound sleepers. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel, at least not as anything above 2-star quality.

A mixed bag

Small room with very little storage space. But I guess that is typical for hotels of this type in Europe. What is with not being able to control the individual room temperature? The staff's only recommendation: open a window. But then the mosquitoes eat you alive. We had the same problem at three separate hotels in Italy.

Entryway smell detracts from great location

The entryway stairwell smells HORRIBLE leading into this hotel. If you can get past mildew or mold smell then it's an ok place to stay located close to the city center action. The hotel really should address that issue though. It is an awful way to enter an otherwise nicely staffed and well located hotel. We had to hold our breath up the flights of stairs to the welcome desk.

We arrived on August 30 and the front desk receptionist was very helpful. She gave us all the information we need about the city. Room is spacious; we had a triple room which can sleep four people easily.
Cons: we could hear cars on the street; lift not available on the ground floor (not a problem for us, but might be for other people)

Great location, very clean, breakfast ok. Almost all staff very friendly. Seems to be a family owned hotel rather than a chain. Bar/lounge is a stretch of the imagination! Sofa, tv and coffee table. No real bar to speak off although they did provide a glass of wine for which there was no charge! Nice touch. Very small choice of drinks. Would definitely not describe it as a bar! Didn't see any one using it as such! Expedia pleaae do not describe it as a bar! More like a living room! Otherwise it's in a great location and if you just want to sleep, shower and breakfast it's ok.

Close to everything in the Old City.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We had them help us book some excursions, call for taxis, and print copies of itineraries and airport confirmations. All done with a smile. Breakfast was included and plentiful - American, European and Italian. Hotel has very small elevator (for 2 people or baggage) so getting up and down with my arthritic knee was not an issue. Bathroom in our room was very large, and room was nice size with comfortable beds.

Just returned from 4 nights . Cons ? - none really - small two- person lift but it worked ok . wouldn't really have wanted to use steep stairs to third floor room every day . Shower compact and a bit tight if you are bigger . Pros? - big room , king size bed . Good bathroom size . Kettle/fridge in room . Good wi-fi . Good buffet breakfast ( not huge selection but enough ) . Must mention the man on reception could not have been more helpful , restaurant suggestions good , helped me send hotel email to family when my mobile/email didn't work , plus made up breakfast boxes for last morning . As per other reviews - central location 5-10 min walk to sights . Would definitely return xx
