We stayed in hotel Abaco for 2 nights last month. The location is great - a few minutes' walking distance to the main sites, but the property is undeniably OLD. There is a stink throughout, in the room and especially in the bathroom. When we walked in, the first thought was: can we go somewhere else (obviously we can't - nothing is refundable). Everything is old: badly peeling paint, the wood of the doors barely holding together, no lock from the inside, extra beds were a joke. The bathroom is tiny and crammed, the shower barely usable, water pressure barely existent. The staff were accommodating - but there's nothing to do about the condition of the property, really. Breakfast was served in the front hall, a croissant, a bun, and a coffee per person. For the price, I absolutely wished I would have chosen someplace else. Great location - poor value and experience.

We were warmly welcomed. Our room was ready for us any incredibly comfortably. The air worked great after a day of hiking around in the sunshine. We slept comfortable and peacefully with absolutely no sounds from the street, or the hotel, waking us. Breakfast was delicious and filled us for the morning. Service was prompt and cheerful. Would definitely recommend!

Mi experiencia fue muy mala, y si van con maletas les recomiendo no hospedarse, ya que son 60 escalones para subir a la recepción y el hotel (no especifica en la aplicación) mi marido se cayó de la escalera intentando bajar las maletas, fuimos al hospital y ninguno se hizo cargo por los daños ocasionados ni el mal momento que pasamos, el hotel en cierto aspecto es viejo y de mal gusto, sobrecargado de decoración. La habitación es prácticamente una lata de sardinas, el baño indescriptible, se tapa a cada rato y la ducha está prácticamente al lado del inodoro (no sabes si es ducha o bidet) la verdad estamos decepcionados y muy tristes… no los recomiendo en absoluto.

Awful, terrible bed. Cannot overstate this enough. Location was great though, so if you like being close to things and don't intend on sleeping or you're making a booking on behalf of someone you don't like, this is the place for you.

Great location, workers were very nice. RV size wet bathroom, tablecloth thick towels. No elevator so you had to walk up a few flights of stairs and down. Our room opened up into the middle of the dining area which could be awkward in the morning when we left.

Hotel Abaco is quirky, charming and authentic. It was very convenient for us to walk around Florence, and is very close to lots of restaurants, cafes, museums, and wonderful small shops. In fact, for a busy few days as a tourist in Florence it could not be better. OK - it's old, and you have to climb 55 stone stairs to it (it's on the 2nd floor) but it would not be authentic otherwise. La Signora who runs it was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting!

Fantastic location, breakfast small but goid, very old city location so rooms small especially bathroom, got noidy esrly in thr morning as breakfast area right outside our room. Overal would recommend if looking at convenient location? As a disabled person whivh it had been made clear how many glights of stairs to climb to reach hotel. Very eadyvto walk to from main station.

Surprised that Expedia had a “good” rating for this hotel, which is not justified. I have trust deficit with Expedia’s rating after my experience at this property.
The property is old and has no lift. Guests have to carry their luggage up two floors, and there was no warning given for this by Expedia in its description of the property.
Customer service was very poor. We had breakfast with our booking, but there was no place to sit and eat - hence had no breakfast. Also staff refused to provide hot water requested for tea before breakfast was open to be served.
Uncomfortable and vey small toilet space - again something not highlighted by Expedia.
I would rate the property as a hostel for students - not a hotel.

We enjoyed being in the centre of Florence and when we stepped out of the hotel, we could see the Duomo. We liked staying in a period hotel. There are a lot of steps but that didn't bother us. Please note the hotel is within the restricted traffic zone so if arriving by car, park for 1 hour in the parking opposite the bus station which costs E4 and walk to the hotel (under 10 mins) to offload luggage, then go and repark outside the city. The nearest unlimited parking was 2.5 miles away in the Bobbini area. Probably best to use public transport.

It was very clean and the staff are super friendly. The room is a typical small European room. Only a 2 minute walk to Duomo. There isn’t any parking. But they have a valet service that will pick up and drop off your car for € 25 a day. We walked to everything from this hotel. It is in a super convenient location!!

We had a late arrival after the front desk would be closed, due to our flight being delayed, I called to let them know and they were very accommodating to leave the key with the neighbouring hotel. The street in front is very busy and noisy and there is single glazed windows so bring ear plugs. Room as described. Clean. Adorable historic decor

This was a cute hotel, and that is why I picked it. Very close to train station and in the middle of everything you want to be near. I didn’t know (and was shocked) that it is on the 3rd floor of a very large building. You have to walk up 7 half flights of stairs. It’s a lot of work. However, it seems all of the hotels are that way. There is no elevator so if you need one, look for a larger hotel that has one. One bed was very comfy and one bed consisted of 2 cots and was difficult to sleep in. It’s hit or miss. Very cute rooms, fun bathrooms, AC that works, WiFi, great view. If you don’t want to be up for breakfast (crossaints) 8-10am, tell them or some lady will knock on your door to wake you up. No cappuccino after 9:30. Owner (very nice man) allowed us to check in hours early which was very helpful. You will have a wonderful stay if you accept your breakfast.

The owner was especially helpful to me. I parked outside the city wall as the city streets are limited to residents. On check in, he told me I could park in a designated place in the city but I was tired and confused by the map and directions. So he offered to go to my car and ride along. When we parked in front of the hotel to drop our bags, he insisted on carrying our luggage. Then he got back in the car and helped me find the right parking area. He had lots of recommendations for dinner too. So friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is in a very cute cafe just a few doors down. Nice breakfast and beautiful view of the countryside.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the train station and many of the tourist sites. We stayed in the room with two twin beds. We had our own bathroom, but it was not in the room itself, but rather across the hall. It ended up ok for us as the hotel is small so we almost never saw anyone when we went to the bathroom, but still it required being appropriately dressed to do so. The beds were also a little narrower than normal twin beds, which was fine for us but would've been tricky for someone larger. The air conditioning worked great. The wifi was not very good, but we rarely had good wifi in Italy. Breakfast was only bread products, juice and coffee, but the croissants were delicious and the plain black coffee extremely good as well. The woman who greeted us and serves the breakfast speaks only limited English, but we managed to communicate. Overall, for a clean and comfortable place to stay in a great location, I would highly recommend it.

We stayed in this hotel for overnight. The location is great, very close to the train station and the big famous church. The owner is very friendly. We checked in around 11:00am which is very helpful otherwise we have to carry the lugguage with us. The room we stayed is comfortable. The only thing I have to remind you is that, the sign 'Hotel Abaco' for this hotel is on the wall, very small and you may need some time to find it.

Used it as a one night stay... Arrived late and left very early the next morning to the airport but cannot see staying there for a longer stay. Hotel is dark, small and is located on an 'all night' noisy street. Not inviting to relax comfortably in after a day of wandering the city. Common area seemed welcoming and the receptionist was very helpful and congenial.

Even though Bruno kept apologizing about the small bathroom it was a great place to stay. The staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. The bathroom was small but it was big enough that you could have a good shower and there was lots of hot water. The breakfast was simple but enough, unless you need gluten free as it's breads and buns.
The wifi in room 7 was a little weak so we would need to go into the hall to get connected again but not a real hardship either. It's 54 stairs up to the hotel so pack light but you can walk to most of Florence from here and even go back for a short break. There's plenty of restaurants close by and 2 grocery stores within a block or so.
Highly recommended for a safe clean stay. You can pay more but not sure you would get much better than Bruno and his staff.

THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS AND NO ELEVATOR!!!

It is located up 3 flights of stairs and there is no elevator. When going up the first time with our luggage, it was almost like it would never end. The staff is nice, speak limited English. The room was small, but clean. Main 2 problems we had were the 3 flight walkup and the bathroom. After making the hike up and seeing our room, we seriously considered just leaving and finding another hotel. Bathroom was added afterwards, just some drywall and a plastic patrician as a door. There is a small sink, toilet, and on the wall there was a douche handle to use as a shower, there is a plastic shower curtain to make a separation from the toilet. It was horrible, I have never seen anything like it. You can barely shower, the floor is always wet from showering and I would strongly recommend wearing sandals while in there. The towels are really more like kitchen towels, not the cotton towels you would normally use for shower. This was definitely not what I expected when booking a room with a private bathroom. I would not recommend this hotel, nor would I stay here again.

Nice hotel close to the major attraction

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on April 10 -11, 2014. This hotel has the best location: 5 minutes walk distance from the train station and near to all major attraction( 700 m to Duomo, one block to the right to St. Maria Novella). If you are traveling from one city to the other and you will spend just one or two nights there I will definitely recommend this hotel. Otherwise not. The room is not big, but OK. The bathroom is very small. If you are not size 4 -10 it will be difficult to feet in that bathroom. Everything are old. There is no holder or hooks for the towels That why I think they use the cotton starch towels like the table cloth that my grandma used. From the toilettes there is only soap. The bed is not big and it's like two twins (even smaller) mattresses put together. The mattress is hard, not very comfortable. Again if you are tall and bigger than size 10 this bed will be small for you. The staff does not speak English, but very friendly and willing to help. The breakfast is a traditional italian breakfast: small roll with butter and jam, croissant, orange juice and coffee. Everything fresh and testy. I will recommend this hotel to everyone who is not very picky, who did not spend a lot of time in the hotel and who is traveling from one city to the other.

The hotel location was great... a 5 minute walk from the train station. However, the beds were quite uncomfortable and our room was next to the breakfast room.. so you can hear everything going on from 7.30am. Not great. The ensuite toilet and bathroom wasn't nice... just had a general horrible smell to it. Overall not bad for price and great location.

Walking distance from SMN train station

Overall this is a wonderful little hotels typical of old buildings. Family owned, the people were most accomadating. It does not have a elevator and therefore is not handicap accessable, Having knee problems I wish I had known this prior to booking. Second floor room had me climbing 53 steps to gain access to the 2nd floor. The desk clerks were so helpfull in carrying my luggage. I highly recomend this very fair priced hotel to physically fit people!

Super gelegen in 5 Minuten vom Bahnhof und in 5 Minuten am Dom. Direkt an der Straße, also nachts nicht wirklich ruhig, ich konnte aber gut schlafen.
Einfache Unterkunft, die aber alles bietet, was ich für eine Stadtbesichtigung brauche.

La propiedad esta muy convenientemente situada, muy cerca de todas las atracciones de Florencia, esta muy bien atendida, el desayuno bastante bien, las habitaciones cumplen perfectamente su función, se siente algo antigua y hay que subir el equivalente a 3 pisos y no hay elevador pero por todo lo demás esto último pasa a segundo plano.

Farverigt og charmerende hotel med god placering

Lille charmerende, farverigt og lidt slidt hotel. Men det var en fornøjelse og levede fuldt ud op til forventningerne. Perfekt placering ift både tog og by. Den personlige servering af morgenmad var enormt hyggeligt. Bemærk dog at hotellet er meget lydt og man kan høre opdækningen fra meget tidlig morgen, til trods for at der kun serveres morgenmad i tidsrummet fra kl 8.00-9.30. Vi kommer gerne tilbage

Billigt centralt hotell som ligger nära centralstationen använde det en natt innan vi skulle flyga hem. Väldigt trevlig personal de ville fixa frukost till oss tidigt på morgonen innan flyget. Vi hade ett litet rum , sängarna något hårda men vi sov bra tyst och lugnt ställe. Till rummet privat toalett i korridor. Super bra pris om man jämför andra hotell i Florence.

Organizamos un tour por nuestra cuenta por algunas ciudades de Italia. Y puedo decir que lo único malo que nos sucedió, fue haber reservado este hotel.
Al llegar, subimos con nuestras maletas, como 3 o 4 pisos para encontrar el hotel, aún así estábamos felices de haber llegado, nos recibió un señor bastante incomodo diciendo que no entendía como habíamos encontrado habitación en el hotel por ese precio, (pagamos cerca de 45 euros) un lunes 15 de enero. No entendimos, ya que fue el precio que nos proporcionó la pagina, en la promoción incluía desayuno para dos personas, nosotras en ningún momento hicimos una solicitud especial para conseguir ese precio. Lo dejamos pasar y no respondimos nada, solo sonreímos y seguimos con nuestro itinerario, nuestra habitación era realmente pequeña con dos camas de una plaza cada una y un lavadero, el baño estaba afuera de la habitación en un pasadizo distinto. Jamás nos quejamos de los hoteles porque no esperamos nada extraordinario de ellos, solo un lugar cómodo para descansar, ya que al hacer turismo, solo usamos el hotel para dormir. A la mañana siguiente me acerque a recepción para preguntar por el desayuno, (cuándo busco hoteles activo siempre la opción de desayuno incluido y en la promoción que compré venía incluido) Sin embargo, la señora me miró de manera desagradable y me dijo que el desayuno no estaba incluido por el precio que yo pagué, le sonreí y le dije que no había problema, inmediatamente nos fuimos. Pésimo trato al cliente.
