Close to square and daily excursions and within walking distance to some great restaurants. I chose breakfast option with booking with Expedia but the desk person said we were not entitled to breakfast. It was a little embarrassing when approached as making a plate.
Other than that, it was enjoyable stay.

Excellent location. A few minutes walk from the train station. A few minutes walk to Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and the main shopping area. Room is clean, but dark. Noisy at night because our room is close to the street. The bathroom needs to be upgraded. The shower room is just a corner of the bathroom with a shower curtain and a drain. We have to clean up the water every time after the shower as the floor gets so wet regardless how careful you showed. The breakfast is so-so with limited selections. It is nice that the hotel puts a bottle of wine in the fridge for us to enjoy for free. We don’t drink but appreciate the offering.

First of all, the staff are super nice and very helpful. They genuinely want to make your visit to Florence enjoyable.
The location couldn't be better. Very close to the train station, a two minute walk to the tram that goes right to the airport and so close to all the monuments, museums, restaurants and shops.
The rooms are perfect for dropping your bags and exploring the city. They are typical of a major international city - not huge but they have fully equipped bathrooms, lots of towels, comfy beds, mini-fridges, etc.
Great value in an excellent location. Very safe.

A nice gem in a gem of a city

Very conveniently located near the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, this hotel is a nice hidden deal. While the 19 steps to get into the lobby are a bit steep for someone with a heavy bag, there is an elevator for getting to your room from there. The bedding is plain, even dated, but warm in winter.

I’ve never felt more welcome and cared for. The staff were so kind and helpful and showed a genuine interest in making sure we enjoyed our short stay not only at the hotel but in the city of Florence. This was close to the train station and all the sites. The facilities had character that felt in line with the city. Our room was clean and though slightly dated, it was comfortable and the AC worked well.

The perfect location in Florence. Just a five minute walk from the train station and all the main sights and attrations are mostly within a 10-15 minute walk away. It’s conveniently located and made my stay in Florence more pleasant.

My room was larger than I expected and the AC was strong, which is a plus during the hot summer days. Unfortunately, the bed is not very comfortable and the pillows were very flat. I arrived at the appropriate check-in time, but my room wasn’t ready and I was asked to delay my check-in an extra hour. It wasn’t too much of a problem as they held my luggage and I took the time to explore the city while waiting.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay. Loved the location and the spacious clean room. If I could suggest an improvement, it would be for better beds and pillows.

The hotel building is 250 years old according to the hotel staff. It would not be surprised that some facilities may be out of date :such as the elevator & air circulation system. It is a good location though to the attractions in Florence .

The hotel location is great, very convenient and close to everything in Florence. We liked the fact that the reception was open late at night. The staff was friendly and helpful. Nevertheless the hotel is very outdated. The elevator hardly works. The cleaning was not done in our two day stay. The wifi is nonexistent.

This is a great hotel for a stay in Florence! It is very close to the train station (2 blocks, about 5 minutes walking) and has some great restaurants and stores nearby.

The staff is very friendly and helpful with very good English speaking abilities.

The room was clean and had good AC. I wish they had a small refrigerator in the room, and a small microwave would have been nice. But those were the only things that were in any way 'lacking'.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and will likely stay there again.

Great stay!

Lovely rustic hotel very close to the train station (Firenze SMN) and the Duomo. Very large rooms and adjoining bathroom by Italian standards. The breakfast spread was typical European (bread, pastries, meats, cheeses, cereals, coffee machine) and not overpriced for what you got. There are some steps to take to get to the lobby, if mobility is an issue. Some city noises as my room was on the corner of the main street though it didn't really disturb me. I'd definitely come back and stay here on my next visit!

Location is ideal. 5 minute walk from the train station. Service is friendly. Drinks available to purchase at the hotel for more reasonable prices than in the city centre. Good wi-fi (a real bonus for Italy) and decent breakfast. Room quite small, with a tiny shower. Building starting to show its age. Hard to find much better value for money in central Florence these days though.

We were very happy with our stay at nizza hotel. It is an old building but it has character. The good thing is it is a great location , you can walk everywhere from there.
Their service is very good , willing to help you with any problems. The breakfast was just good , nothing spectacular but has enough to eat to start you on your day. All in all we would stay there again , a quaint little part of Florence..

Need new shutters, they let all the light in. extremely noisy even with double pane. we were never able to get the tv english channel for the poor satellite reception, need more english channels. downstairs had a toilet overflow problem and the hotel stunk for hours like a sewer while we were sleeping and we never got an explanation or apology much less a discount - breakfast was weak staff nice no fox news

The hotel has a GREAT location, close to restaurants, shops, grocery stores, bars and within a short walking distance to the Duomo, Santa Maria Novella church & station and the Medici Chapel.
The breakfast is a good amenity to enjoy. The majority of the staff were helpful, if not friendly. If the option is present, PLEASE avoid room #2, granted you do not have close-by neighbors, you constantly hear the main door open and close because it located above the entrance.

Hotel Nizza is conveniently located a short walk away from SMN train station. Our room was clean and the staff was friendly. Breakfast included an assortment of meats and cheeses, hot and cold beverages, cereals, fruit, bread and pastries. You can also have your luggage held in the main office if you don't plan on leaving Florence in the morning. One minor con includes being told there was an iron on hand, but then checking in and finding out they don't so our clothes were wrinkled while in Florence. Also, being 5'8 and my husband being 6'0, using the toilet was uncomfortable as our knees touched the wall :S Because this is Florence, I highly recommend you don't sleep with the windows open and that you have bug spray/itch cream on hand. There are many mosquitoes in Florence due to the river, so having these handy is a good idea regardless of where you stay. Overall, I recommend Hotel Nizza for your next stay in Florence due to its proximity to the train station and major sights, good breakfast and friendly staff :)

Convenient, clean, helpful. Believe the website. A small hotel with character in a traditional narrow street building, and great staff ready to answer all questions and respond to extra requests. This is the place for those who want a comfortable place to wash and sleep after pounding the sights. If you want plush foyers, carpets and loafing areas etc, go elsewhere and pay for it. The entrance is up about 15 reasonably shallow stone steps so be aware. Surprisingly quiet-double glazed room with gentle air con. 7 minutes from the bus/train station where speedy airport bus stops; 5 mins to Doumo. Great selection of local trattoria - trust the lady at reception for recommendations. Have the breakfast; it is simple but sets you up for the day long enough for your mid morning cafe break. Great value for money and first choice on our return!

Hotel Nizza, not perfect but a nice place to stay.

Good location, wonderful front desk. Had to climb stairs from street level to one flight up. Room was simple with no small refrigerator but the bed was a very good size. The TV in the room only had programs in Italian, none in English... including American TV series. Bathroom was a bit tight. The breakfast room sitting area was acceptable but unfortunately food choice was very limited. If you wanted a good breakfast it was better to eat outside someplace else. All in all I would probably stay there again for the location and the staff but I would bring with me my own DVD's to watch since I do not understand Italian to watch their TV.

Convenient and cozy

Nice little place close to the central train station and all the major tourist sights in Florence. Staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was enjoyable (no eggs or warm bacon, but croissants were fresh and yummy). My room was facing the back yard and it was so quiet that I could sleep with the window open and didn’t even need ear plugs. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a centrally located place to crash at it if you’re wanting to hit all the great museums in Florence on foot.

It was in a good location away from the busy area but close enough! Easy to walk around to a lot of places like average 5-20 minutes walk depending on where you want to go. Didn’t even need transportation. Staff were nice, friendly & helpful. Breakfast was okay. Simple enough to get you going for the day. Close to restaurants and shops. The entrance to the hotel has stairs on the bottom entrance from the street then the lobby is on the next level but it has elevator from the lobby to the rooms. Not wheelchair accessible because it’s a very old building.. room was nice, clean and big. It was very hot out & has air conditioner! I would recommend this hotel for a short visit.

If you're looking for a rustic feel then this is the place for you. It's a great location (near restaurants and the train station, about a 15 minute walk to most famous sites/museums). The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is good. I'm satisfied with the price for this hotel, I find it to be fair especially when you consider it's location. Would stay here again.

In square behind hotel is the Museum of Modern Art which is fantastic. This was our 5’th visit to Florence ... we are not newbies easily impressed.

A return visit to Florence having stayed at Hotel Nizza the previous year. Very convenient for railway station and only a short walk to main attractions and shops. Offers good value for money. A little noisy, but it is city centre and probably to be expected bearing in mind location. One little bugbear - was a strong light on wall opposite hotel (we were in Room 5) that shone directly into our room. Window curtains provided were quite light weight and ineffective in minimising this intrusion.

Great hotel! Location we perfect for us as we took the train in and out - about a 5 minute walk from the station. We were also able to walk the the Academy and the Ufizzi and everywhere in between. The room could use a refreshing coat of paint, but we were more concerned about price and location - those expectations were exceeded! Friendly staff and good breakfast.

Be aware reception desk is two small flights of stairs up to 2nd floor if lots of luggage large or heavy it may be a problem. May not suite all travelers remember you're really not staying in your room for a long time

The hotel location was great, only 5 minutes from the train station and close to many shops and restaurants. The room was basic but had everything I needed. The staff was helpful and spoke English. The check-in desk was one level up but an elevator was available for upper floors after reaching the desk. My room was toward the courtyard so quiet, even though the hotel was very centrally located. I would definitely stay again.

Quaint, no-frills hotel

Quaint, old hotel located 5-min. walk from the train station.
Ground-level entry & stairs only to check-in desk on 1st floor made luggage handling difficult (yet there was an elevator from 1st floor to rooms on upper levels).
Decent, clean, but sparton rooms provided bare essentials & minimal comfort.
Fair value.

Great location to explore Florence and Tuscany

Hotel Nizza is decent: as a family of four, the room felt a bit packed and the amenities were a bit tight in portions. but everything was there for a satisfactorily overnight stay!

The best part about this hotel though is that it's only a 5-minute walk from the train station and located basically next to Piazza Santa Maria Novella, which is only less than 10-minute walk from the famous Duomo! Yet, you can still a good night sleep because not much traffic pass through the road and no late-night establishments like bars are around. The breakfast was another of this hotel's best part, because it was incredibly generous in selection and portion, ranging from pastries to cold cuts.

We stayed in this hotel for a night before we headed to Pisa, and Hotel Nizza got the job done. I would not consider this a luxurious hotel, but it certainly serves as a good rest stop to explore Florence and the rest of Tuscany! I got this as a low price during low season, so if you can snag this hotel at a reasonable rate as well, I say go for it!

Central location close to railway station

I would have been very disappointed if I had paid the published 'rack rate' for this hotel - 152 Euro per night b & b. However, for the rate paid via Hotels.com, it represented decent value for money.
Good breakfast with a wide time availability allowing early or late starts as required. A little noisy into the early hours, but the location is city centre so probably to be expected. Pleasant and helpful staff.
A very decent budget choice.
