Lovely place to stay. Having no Lift was a bit of a problem for us as the stairs to the appartment were a bit steep and then the second set of stairs to our room were even steeper. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location, not far from anything.

The good:

It’s all about the location. You are in the middle of everything, literally. The room was large enough and the ceilings are really high! Large windows. You feel like you are a part of the history. Tons of dining options near by. If you need to leave your luggage and wonder around the city and then come back and pick it up later - that’s an option. That’s about it.

The bad:

Ok, that’s huge - NOISY! Extremely noisy environment caused by tourists at night. It was that noisy through the night, entire night! So, if you are a light sleeper - pass it. We shut the windows close as well as the storm doors for extra barrier. Didn’t help.
Now, read the description carefully - it says shared bathroom! Yes, you have to share it with the others (I believe there were two of them available). Quite inconvenient if you need to get up in the middle of the night to go pee.
WIFI is a joke! The signal was very weak in our room and almost unusable.
Check in was somewhat confusing as there were no clear instructions given. Same thing with the check out process. At check out there was somebody at the front desk - so we didn’t have issues then.
There is NO AC in the unit. Just a ceiling fan.
Customer service could have been better - we tried to get into the building at the time of arrival and no one answered even though we kept pushing the button. If you run a hotel business - please make sure you provide a good customer support, not just sitting and collecting money remotely.

Extremely Disappointing Stay at Il Gattopardo

I recently stayed at Il Gattopardo in Florence and had an extremely disappointing experience. Here are the issues we encountered:

**Cockroaches**: We found cockroaches in our room, the hallway and the bathroom, which was alarming and unacceptable.

**Noise Levels**: The noise levels were intolerable. There was significant noise both from outside and within the hotel, making it impossible to rest.

**Mouldy Shower**: The shower was mouldy, which is both unpleasant and a potential health hazard.

**Broken Toilet Flush**: The toilet flush was broken, causing us considerable inconvenience throughout our stay.

**Broken Window**: A broken window that could not be closed added to the noise problem and compromised our security and comfort.

**Unclear Check-in Instructions**: The access and check-in instructions were unclear, leading to unnecessary stress and confusion upon our arrival.

We chose Il Gattopardo expecting a comfortable and pleasant stay based on its reputation. Unfortunately, these issues severely impacted our experience. I hope the management addresses these problems promptly to prevent future guests from facing similar inconveniences.

Overall, I cannot recommend Il Gattopardo based on my recent stay.

Property gives incorrect address. Hard to find. Extremely noisy. Don’t expect to sleep since you are located in an alley with people doing drugs all night. Bathroom was dirty with other previous guest soap bars left out and no clean soap to use… room was very hot without a working fan and no A/C. Overall was easily our worst stay in Italy.

Beware - this was a glorified hostel with falsely advertised amenities. The concierge was rarely there and not there to let us into the building during regular check in hours. The listing said there was a kitchen, breakfast included, and a crib - but this wasn’t true. Our infant had to sleep on the floor in a makeshift bed, despite our requesting the crib 2 days before our arrival. The host never responded to messages and when we finally saw the concierge on day 2, they were not helpful.The location was excellent, but unfortunately, this was overshadowed by the fact that the listing did not have other amenities that we needed for our stay.

Completely misrepresented on the website. This was absolutely terrible experience. Although the description read that someone would be on duty during normal business hours, there was no one ever there. The cleaning person could be heard but not seen. The owner came in half way through our stay briefly to collect tourist tax. When asked about a breakfast that had been advertised, she muttered something about Expedia should have let us know about her stopping breakfast and that was all we got. Worst of all was the loud noises coming from below in the street in the evening and going into the wee hours of the morning, this from same crowd of people hanging out smoking pot right next to building entrance. Overall other than the superb location, the experience was miserable. We dreaded going “home” each evening. My husband called it a hostel, a very expensive but nonetheless hostel kind of vibe.

La ubicación y la atención de las chicas es lo unico bueno que puedo rescatar. El baño es afuera del cuarto y compartido, no esta muy claro eso.
A las 7am todas las mañanas empieza una construcción al lado del edificio que te imposibilita seguir durmiendo si quisieras.
De noche hay ruido de todos lados, gritos afuera, autos, musica, toda la noche. Asi que no se puede dormir ni de noche ni de mañana.

Clean, check in and communication challenging

Location was EXCELLENT in the since of being able to easily walk to many attractions and meet-up spots for tours. There was a lot of noise from the street with our particular room, but I feel that comes from being in a busy area.
Very clean, even having to share a bathroom with others.
Check in is a little confusing. Initially, finding it is challenging. A good way to remember is it is across and down from the Korean restaurant.
Breakfast has some frustrations. Lovely pastries and coffee, but the timing during which it is served is not convenient if you have a tour booked at 9. They are almost never actually there at 8, and you can’t just grab and go. Recommend starting breakfast at least at 7 so tours and travelers can partake without stress.

Budget B&B. The best about this property was the location! We stayed at double bed en-suite which was actually clean. The bed room and bathroom were clean but the shower area and shower head covered with thick black mould! The building has a very strong damp smell, that even lingered in hallway and into the bedroom making it hard to sleep. Check in was easy enough and staff were pleasant and helpful. The door access was easy with no trouble!

If someone looking for great location and don’t care about the rest, this is for you!

Avoid at all costs!

Avoid at all costs! All the negative reviews here were correct. Don’t believe the pictures. We had booked this place and couldn’t stay in it. The stone steps up to it are v dangerous, narrow and steep. The alleyway leading to it is not safe. We took one look at the room and booked in elsewhere. We lost two nights money. The host refused to answer messages.

Great property! Great location next to everything you want to do in Florence, easy walk from train station. It could use some AC or mosquito netting on the window (air outside was nice and cool at night). Overhead fan works good at night but open window or AC would be better.

Good location - Bad everything else

Although the location is good (close to main tourist areas), the building it self is not very nice. There is definitely a mouldy SMELL as soon as you enter the front door. There is a slightly similar smell in room as well. Our room windows were to the alley/walk way and all noises echoed in that walk way. Anyone talking downstairs would sound like they are standing against the window. Windows have no sound insulation so be ready to be woken up by 6am if you're a light sleeper and you won't find quiet until around 12-1am either.
The breakfast advertised is 4 packs of 4 biscuits, 2 toast, 2 instant coffee packets, 2 tea packets and a kettle that hasn't been cleaned. Don't count on it to be appetizing or filling.
We did get room cleaning. We also accidentally chose the shared bathroom option and those bathrooms get cleaned once a day. Be prepared to walk into a smelly bathroom or water over the floor situation.
Do not recommend this hotel unless you are tight on money and options. Just be prepared for hostel type of living.

Overbooked and not happy

When we arrived at this b&b we were told over the intercom to get a pen and paper ready so that we could write down the name of our new hotel as this one was overbooked. After complaining that I expected at the very least that we would talk to a person rather than an intercom we were told to wait and someone would come. Ten to twenty minutes later a woman appeared who started complaining that we could not be contacted. I had booked and paid for the room two months before and on looking on my email I found she had tried to contact us 11.30pm the night before. We were walked about two kilometres with luggage to a hotel close to the train station on the upper floors of a large building. We would have had no chance finding it ourselves. We were shown a small room with shared bathroom while the women complained that it cost her more than the money she had received from Expedia minus their commission. It was a backpacker type of room. For 70 euros of our money we were able to upgrade to a room with a bathroom. The breakfast was from cardboard boxes. An experience but not one I would like to repeat. Definitely not worth booking and paying two months in advance for.

Achamos que fosse um hotel pequeno, mas após vimos que era um ap na cidade. Nós escolhemos o quarto com banheiro individual, se não escolher assim terá que compartilhar o banheiro. Mas para eles é comum. Privacidade bem limitada, o pessoal que está indo ao banheiro- estav frio - - o aquecimento não dá conta do frio naoNão havia ninguém na recepção.

Bagno venduto come privato, si scopre essere in comune. Alla mia richiesta di averlo privato mi dicono “sisi è il suo privato” quando era comunque in comune col piano. Doccia che si riempiva fino le caviglie, con acqua bella fredda di mattina. Il lavandino del bagno non funzionava se si accendeva l’acqua calda, quindi solo ghiacciata, e pure quello era ostruito e si riempiva. Ho scritto vari messaggi su Expedia, mai ricevuto risposta (se non solo al primo), pure dopo svariati giorni, quindi ho telefonato. Il check-in era garantito con personale fino le 23, noi siamo arrivati alle 16 del pomeriggio (ed avevo anche avvisato prima, telefonando), non c’era nessuno ed ho dovuto ritelefonare (sono state date istruzioni via telefono, ma se non ci fossero stati altri ospiti, chissà quando saremmo potuti entrare). Non c’è linea telefonica, Wi-Fi pessimo. Camera da letto però piacevole e materasso molto comodo.

Sänglakanen var småfläckiga och mörka hårstrån hittades här och var. Sängen knakade vid varje rörelse. Första natten var fruktansvärd, men efter att vi hittade orsaken till knakandet så blev det bättre andra natten. Tyvärr kunde de inte ordna glutenfri frukost. Det funkar att sova på det här boendet en eller två nätter, men jag skulle inte rekommendera detta boende. Incheckningen gjordes remote, vilket fungerade bra, men mottagandet på morgonen därefter var ansträngt och tröttsamt. Ett plus för att de hade fläkt på rummet, och för att det ligger nära kända landmärken.

Très confortable. Nous avions la sdb dans la chambre ce qui est vraiment un plus. Rien à envier à une prestation hôtelière, pour un bed&breakfast. Peut-être un peu plus bruyant.
Pensez-à doubler les taies d'oreiller pour une meilleure hygiène.
A part ceci, tout était nickel, de la chambre, à la gentillesse du personnel et aux services proposés.

Pas de petit déjeuner complet !

ATTENTION au petit déjeuner complet, c'est en fait un plateau repas qui contient (par personne) : 2 biscottes, 2 petites barquettes de confiture, 1 sachet de café instantané, 2 sachets de thé, 3 biscuits style petit beurre, des sachets de sucre, et une bouilloire. Donc plutôt un 4 heures qu'un petit déjeuner.
Sinon, il y a un accès à la cuisine qui contient une cafetière expresso, mais pas de café moulu (à vous de prévoir !).
Attention 2 = salle de douche / toilettes communes séparées.

Heureusement, il y a une \"boulangerie\" proche (juste après le carrefour express, à 100 mètres de la chambre) pour trouver mieux, et rapporter en plus du bon café.

Quando chegamos não havia ninguém para realizar o check in , fomos orientados via câmera por uma voz.
No dia seguinte realizamos o check in presencial.
A localização é excelente, confortável e limpo.
Única situação desagradável foi que deixamos um vinho na geladeira e ele foi consumido.
