We felt right at home here, a perfect stay for a couple traveling (who got engaged in Florence this trip!!!) Gabriella was very friendly and chatted with us during breakfast. The breakfast is great and the rooftop is very nice to have. Be aware of the 80 steps to the top. We loved this place and will come back!

The staff are what make this place a gem. We arrived a day late due to travel delays and had lost our luggage. The staff offered many resources for buying clothes, finding delicious meals, and even volunteered to make calls on our behalf to locate our luggage (eventually found!). The location is great and the whole place is very clean.

We loved our stay here!!! We’ve never stayed at a B&B before so this was a great first experience while also visiting Florence for the first time. My travel companions would tell you that all of the stairs up to the B&B were awful, but I think they’d agree it was worth it for a great place to stay. Only downside was that it was too cold to enjoy the cute rooftop terrace.

Staying at Il Bargello was the best choice I could have made when coming to Firenze! Rooms were incredibly comfortable (air con and wifi both worked perfectly- a huge perk for any stay) and breakfast was a nice mix of coffees (graciously prepared by the hosts), pastries, yoghurts, etc. I was not bothered by the stairs (great practice for climbing il duomo). You’re within walking distance of everything. Would stay here again and again!

Ongoing construction of the property made it difficult to move around the property and the noise was bad as they began working early each morning we were there. But the apartment we stayed in was comfortable and clean and well stocked with breakfast items. The location is great, close to the Duomo and many great restaurants. I’m sure it will be great when the construction is complete.

It was a perfect experience for us, bery kind owners, we contact them just by messages because we were in at different times, but they kept us informed at all moments.
The only point is that is in a Third floor without lift, bit they informed us and offer a cancellation if we nned it.
So, we were in a very good location, near to all interesting places, in a house plenty of historical character. The breakfast was available at any time, with good quality and variety too.

Could have been great but…construction
It would have been nice to be informed that the whole building is being renovated and that we would have to listen to drills during the week. We arrived on a Sunday so we did not know what it was going to be like until the following day and the receptionist had every opportunity to inform us but she didn’t. While the balcony looks nice, there were workers that were making repairs during the day so we couldn’t even enjoy it. We should be compensated for this. It really ruined the end of our trip because we had no time to relax.

Absolutely AMAZING stay, our favourite on our 3 week stay! We were greeted by Suzanne at the front desk who spoke great English which was super helpful, she offered us a map with tons of information in where to eat, what to see, and so much more. Breakfast was ready for us every morning, Suzanne went above and beyond to make us feel like we were on vacation but also, like we were at home. Comfy beds, beautiful Terrance with a table where you could enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset (highly recommend doing this with a pizza take away if you stay here) and quiet place where you didn’t hear people in the rooms next to you. Located on a little side street, near plenty of great restaurants and the Duomo. Would highly recommend booking your stay with Suzanne, at her B&B.

Beautiful facility. Close to everything, so you can’t beat it there. Convenient and tasty breakfast-pastries and coffee and the like. Around 76 steps to get to the 4th floor, so if steps are an issue, just be aware of that. Rooftop terrace is great but our room also has a private balcony with a nice view. Suzanne and this B&B were warm, gracious, and so hospitable. We arrived late due to a redirected flight but clear instructions were provided for easy entry and for locating our room. The common areas are confortable and cute. Rooftop terrace with a view of the Bargello and Duomo. Room was comfortable but simple. Nice hair dryer in room. We did hear some other guests come loudly in late at night but the room itself, aside from the other guests was quiet. The room could have used more outlets. We had to unplug lamps to charge phones but many of these old buildings have similar problems. Breakfast was laid out beautifully and we enjoyed chatting with other guests over breakfast. Suzanne also provided wonderfully helpful advice for our quick day in Florence. We were so appreciative. They also held our luggage after check out for us while we toured the city. 16-20min walk to the train station with luggage. Not bad. Would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend.

My favorite place to stay when visiting Florence. Location is excellent (right next to the Bargello National Museum). Gabriella and Suzanne are wonderful hosts. Their rooftop terrace is the perfect place to enjoy wine and cheese. I can’t wait to go back.

Suzanne and Gabriella were great. They were accommodating when our travel delays caused us to arrive late. Their late check-in process was easy. Our room was great with our own private terrace, but they also have a picturesque rooftop terrace available to all the guests. We appreciate how stocked the kitchen is with multiple options for breakfast. This was a return visit for us to il Bargello and we will keep it on our \"preferred locations\" list for whenever we pass through Florence.

A beautifully renovated property. Nice room, large bath, nice little private veranda. View from top veranda, very nice. The challenge for some is hauling your luggage up three flights of stairs- 78 stairs to climb. Nice location.

I’m warning you… don’t come to this property. The smell, the vibe, the old blankets. This is not about “Florence Style” this is a turn off place to be in a beautiful place like Florence. Don’t be cheap like I was. Pay a little extra. Trust me on this one. At the day of the check in I saw this place and I became depressed. It was embarrassing to take my wife to this place. When I get to this cold and depressing building I started looking for real hotel. At least If you try a AIRBNB you can have an entire apartment to yourself and be comfortable. THIS IS an UNCOMFORTABLE place. I paid 50 dollars more and I went to a 4 star hotel 1 min from the Duome. Do this is instead and enjoy Florence like a you should. Best of luck and I hope this help you in you lovely vacations.

Property was conveniently located to many areas that are of interest. It is walk-able from the train station. Can be difficult to find due to Google maps having its location wrong. Staff was very helpful in getting us there.

This a charming B&B, with a wonderful hostess and staff. The room was clean and inviting, the breakfast was very good (Suzanne makes, as she said, a mean cup of cappuccino!), and we were within walking distance of all the major attractions. It was really a great place to stay for our 3 days in the beautiful city of Florence. There is no lift, so for those who would have trouble climbing stairs, it is something to keep in mind. We took it as extra exercise so we could enjoy more of the wonderful food in Italy!

The sightseeing suggestions and directions were so helpful. There are a lot of stairs to the entrance. But we were glad for them since we ate a lot of gelato!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while in Florence. Suzanne was a wonderful host. She gave us suggestions for a couple of restaurants that were great. The breakfast each morning was delicious; fresh made cake, fruits, yogurt and cappuccino. We were well fed and ready for a day of walking after that. Definitely worth the walk from the street to our room, which was clean, neat and very quiet. Be sure to buy a bottle of wine during your daily travels; it was such s wonderful way to end the day up on the rooftop terrace enjoying some delicious Italian wine enjoying the nighttime sights. If you are looking for the perfect b&b in Florence, look no further! My fiance and I always tend to stay in Airbnbs when traveling but opted for a hotel/b&b on this most recent trip to Florence since we wanted an easier check-in process and to be more central to the sites, as well as enjoying a little bit more of the hotel nice experience vs. Airbnb. Il Bargello is in the center of everything, a perfect jumping off point for time in Florence. The hotel is only about a 5 minute walk from Palazzo Vecchio + The Uffizi, a 5 minute walk from the Duomo, a 10 minute walk from Palazzo Vecchio bridge, and surrounded by endless restaurants + shops + architecture. In terms of the hotel, it is an absolutely beautiful, quaint space on the top floor of a building. There is a common kitchen area and wonderful rooftop which was wonderful to enjoy breakfast and apertivo. Suzanne, who manages the property, was an incredibly welcoming + friendly host who spent each morning helping us map out recommendations for our day. Did I mention she also bakes fresh cakes/breads each morning for the guests for breakfast and will wake you up with a cappucino?! This is the kind of service you just don't receive while with an Airbnb and really made our stay so special. She was also able to call us a cab to the airport (which came right to the door, and was only a 22 Euro flat rate). She also recommended an amazing apertivo rooftop bar overlooking the duomo that was the highlight of our trip. We will be back!

Trip to Florence with my girlfriend and our main goal was to explore the city. Staff here was amazingly friendly, and super helpful with providing information to guide our visit. The stairs are a beast. We are young and pretty fit and struggled. Reviews say 3 flights but its more like 5. You hear everything on the streets in the room and the streets are loud! The rooms are bare minimum but clean at least. The location is good. We were happy with that.

Quiet B&B in excellent location
This B&B is perfectly situated near the Bargello in the centre of Florence. Our room had a sloping ceiling with original wood beams and bricks. It faced onto rooftops and was very quiet. The only noise was the church bells first thing in the morning which we actually enjoyed. The coffee and breakfast is v. nice with plenty of fruit. Either Gabriella or Suzanne, the owner and manager, were there to help every morning. They were both super and speak fluent English, Italian and French. There is a fridge where you can keep a few snacks and drinks. The beds were comfortable, the shower was hot and the air conditioning worked. We appreciated having maid service every day. There is a wonderful roof terrace with views onto towers and the neighbourhood rooftops. Really the only thing that guests should be aware of is that the B&B is on the top floor so there are several flights of stairs. The number of stairs is very clearly stated in the description. They weren't a problem for us (except one evening when we'd already done 26,000 steps...), but don't bring a heavy suitcase!
