Mario and the staff were incredibly accommodating. We were helped from the minute we stepped into the doors of the lobby till we checked out 8 days later. Traveling internationally can be intimidating but Hotel Santa Croce put all the uneasiness I had being in a foreign land with my wife and son to rest. I will return to Italy and I will absolutely stay here again.

I loved this property, it was only my husband and myself, the room we had was not kid friendly but I’m sure they have good accommodations for families. This was close to everything our room was in another building but it was right near the hotel office. I would definitely go back to Florence and would stay here again.

Positive of this property is location. It’s very close to major attractions. Staff is very friendly.
Negative is the size of the room and specifically shower. There was barely any room to turn around while standing in the shower. Not sure if all the showers are like that, we were on the first floor. Another issue was noise. There was lot of noise from the outside street and also from the people running inside the building.
Air conditioner wasn’t cooling enough, was shutting off every few minutes.

Overall, it was a positive experience with some negative.

The location is great. The check in process is very thoughtful and caring as they take time to map your location and points of interest. They really compensate for being a 2 star hotel with their customer service. Being in the historic district, they can’t have modern amenities like an elevator and other conveniences. If you’re staying in the heat of the summer, don’t leave your screenless windows open overnight, the mosquitoes will eat you alive.

We really liked the location; it was quieter and less hectic but still close to all the main sites.
The staff were lovely and friendly. The concierge sat down with us when we arrived with a map and showed us where the main attractions and several family style restaurants. The breakfast had many options and all the cappuccino you wanted.

The hotel is a historic building and gives easy access to all the main attractions, restaurants etc. We had great communication from the hotel and all staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. Shower was smaller than usual, but had good water pressure and maintained a stable temperature.

The owners of this hotel were exceptionally nice. Very warm, helpful, kind. The location is right in the middle of everything. The building is a historic building from the 1400’s Is it a luxury hotel? No, it is a place to sleep and explore from or return to for a nap without having to take a taxi.

But the staff made you feel cared for. I would definitely stay here again.

Upon check-in, the staff offered a welcome drink, took us outside to point out the notable historical landmarks in the neighborhood, and made us feel at home. During the period of PITTI UOMO, good accommodation for me. It takes 20 min by walk to go to the event and there are many nice restaurants. Also supermarket, Conad.

This time I selected a type of apartment style that was good for me to cook and stay as my home.

2 Brothers running a hotel. We weren’t expecting much from a little hotel in Florence but when we walked in we were greeted by 2 of the nicest hosts we’ve ever come across in our travels. They will make sure you have coffee, they will make sure you have a great day ahead of you. No itinerary? They have a map with all the main spots and are happy to encourage you to see the city.

No dinner plans? They know a couple good spots for you to check out.

Overall they were kind and warm and made us feel like they wanted us to have a good time. They could be ambassadors and in fact I thought of them as such.

The hotel is located next Michelangelo’s childhood home ( 1 for history)

While the rooms are small they are clean and comfortable (who stays in bed all day in Florence anyway?)

You’re in the heart of the city so anywhere you wanted to go is 20 minutes walking.

Unless you want to splurge for a “fancier” hotel because you can, LOOK NO FURTHER.

Complete with kitchenette, microwave, kettle and stove top cooking with all necessary dishes and utensils, it met all our needs. The staff were very friendly and truly helpful. Hotel Santa Croce is a fine little hotel in Florence. It is centrally located near everything. The room was small but typical for a small European hotel. The bed was very comfortable and everything you need is provided. It is very clean. The breakfast is simple continental style but more than adequate, and the staff will make you as many delicious cappuccinos as you desire. The staff including owners Mario and Gabriel are wonderful; very accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable. We very much enjoyed our stay there and would not hesitate to stay here again if we returned to Florence.

Absolutely fantastic stay at the Hotel Santa Croce. There wasn’t a request the staff couldn’t help us with. They even brought out breakfast items that were celiac safe which was excellent. The room was small but the hotel is well taken care of. The AC in the room worked excellently. Location location location. Everything you would want to see was within an easy walk. We would go back to Hotel Santa Croce for our next visit!

We had an issue with our room and Gabriel (sorry if I am not spelling his name correctly) was very kind and was responsive to the issue, they changed our room and refunded that night's fee. We had great few days in Florence in this hotel and left there happy and satisfied.

The staff could not be more helpful and the apartment was very nice overall -- good air conditioning, quiet, clean, and roomy. The hotel and apartment are located in an ideal part of Florence -- just outside of Piazza Santa Croce and 3-8 minutes walk from Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, the Uffizi, etc. Again, the staff -- especially Mario -- were very accommodating and helpful.

Perfect hotel in Florence run by 2 awesome owners

This is a little gem of a place so close to all the main points of interests. It is a very old building that is UNESCO protected and is next to the old building where Michelangelo grew up.

It has a decent size room exactly as advertised. Very well maintained and was good enough for the family of 4. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms were promptly made up every day. WE stayed here a total of 4 nights. August 1st through August 5th 2019.

Mario & Gabriel are the two brothers that run this place and are amazing. There love for what they do and the attention and care for the customers shows in everything at the hotel. The breakfast area is small but the happiness with which it is served makes your day great right from the beginning.

This place is so close to one of the best Gelato places (Vivoli). Some great restaurants are just steps away. Santa croce church, Uffizi gallery are withing 3-5 minutes walking from the hotel.

We had an incident where we thought that we left our phone in a taxi. This was on a Sunday night when Gabriel & Mario were both off and were with their families. Despite that Gabriel was so nice to take my call and work with the Cab companies to identify the particular cab driver. Although we later located the phone through someone who found it outside the hotel, we were very impressed by Gabriel's help through the process.

I have no issues recommending this place to anyone visiting Florence and looking for a reasonably priced Hotel. .

This is a unique small Hotel, extremely old and gives you a trip back in time as to how hotels used to be before mass tourism. There is no lift and I was on the 3rd floor so plenty of steps but I had help with my bag from the lovely staff who are very attentive at all times. There is always someone on reception and there to help if you need it. As a female travelling on her own I felt very at ease here. The breakfast was continental and I enjoyed fruit, yoghurt and croissants along with a choice of coffee each day. There is also a fridge at reception with a choice of welcome cold drinks particularly as when I was there the temperature reached 40 degrees. The rooms are small but what more do you need than a comfortable bed, air conditioning a clean bathroom and wifi. I would certainly recommend this as a place to stay for those who do not want the trappings of modern tourism. The hotel is only 100 meters from Piazza della Signoria, The Uffizi Gallery and Piazza Santa Croce, it is close to both to the Duomo and to the Ponte Vecchio bridge. I will most certainly stay here again when I visit Florence.

Hotel is very old (parts dating to the 600's) and as a result is a lacking some amenities due to its designation as a historic site. The lack of elevator can be problematic if you have heavy luggage to cart to the fourth floor. Typical small rooms and bathrooms, but clean.

The location is great, close to Santa Croce Basilica, which has a fantastic espresso and pastry shop called Finisterrae, just across the street on the left side of the basilica, when facing the front of the basilica.

Definitely don't go to the Italian restaurant nearby, recommended by the hotel. They use tap water to refill the \"bottled water,\" horrible food and service - the worst that we experienced.

Handy to lots of the sights, this hotel is in an old building and as a result there are some constraints to the rooms and no lift. Staff are very welcoming and helpful and lots of places to eat nearby. Buses in nearby street provide access around the wider area. Street noise can be an issue. Breakfast of coffee, yoghurt, fruit and croissants and bread.

This hotel was was a twenty minute walk from the train station, thirty for me because I missed some of the street signs. If you are walking write out the exact route. If you are a large person you will not be comfortable as the rooms, hallways, bathroom and shower are small. The building is a heritage site, because Michelangelo lived next door, so they cannot change the integrity of the structure.

Worth a stay!

Lovely clean room & hotel. Only 15-20mins from Firenze S.M.N, not a taxing walk either.
Location is brilliant. Would stay again. Excellent customer service.

Gabriele and Co. had so many good details in attending our reservation. He refreshed our stay after returning from tours and long walks. Thank you!
Hotel so close to everything: train station Santa Maria Novella, Santa María del Fiore (the best!), Plazas, Santa Crocce church, Ponte Veccio plus restaurants, shopping centers and all historic square.
Breakfast delicious with good coffee, fruits, cereal, sweet bread and yoghurt.
Buy your museum tickets in advance from Expedia.
I recommend if you take the train to Florence, do not get off in Florence Rifredi Station, but in Santa Maria Novella Station. Going from there to Hotel Santa Crocce you will save 30 Euros for a taxi.
I will recommend also, reserve your tours from Expedia, there are less expensive than in hotels.
Try to reserve everything from Expedia and Euro Rail in advance.

Great hotel in a great neighborhood

This hotel is in the heart of Florence, very close to the Piazza della Signoria and especially to the Santa Croce cathedral. It's a 5-minute walk to each. Around the hotel, somewhat hidden on the narrow and labyrinthine streets, there are many restaurants, trattorias, and cafes.
More specific to the neighborhood, there are quite a few leather stores and leather factories with factory stores right next to the hotel. The street the hotel is on also has an interesting past.
Breakfast was quite good and included in the cost of the room, but without any meat or fish (which may be a plus sometimes).
There is no elevator and the room in which we stayed was quite small, but in the end this posed no serious problem. The Internet was free and reliable, although rather slow in our third-floor room. I often preferred to go to the ground floor.
The staff were friendly, approachable, and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

Location is walking distance to major attractions

We arrived very late evening for 4 nights. Check-in was efficient, we were offered a cold drink and our luggage was carried to our 3rd floor room by staff. The room was clean, beds comfortable, and the wi-fi reception was excellent throughout our stay. The room safe dimensions were approximately 10” X 10” X 5”.
Service was excellent. During our first hour next morning, we enjoyed breakfast, and the 2 brother hotel proprietors gave us a map, called for reservation ## for our tickets to the Uffizi and Galleria de Accademia and gave us directions to the locatin for tix to the Duoma complex, including the Museo dell’Opera del Duoma. So by mid-morning we had confirmed reservations to the 3 most sought after Florence destinations, which ensured a pleasant experience with fewer long lines during peak season.
The buffet breakfast included croissants, bread, cereals, fruits, yougart, juices and coffee refills. Throughout our stay, the proprietors were very helpful with information and calling for reservations oas needed.
The location was absolutely excellent as we were within easy walking distance of most major attractions and top restaurants. I would rank the hotel as 10 on a scale of 10 for both location and service. Both were outstanding.

Florence Santa Croce

Great hotel, super close to Santa Croce church. Room was pretty small, but comfortable. No AC, so had to keep window open for airflow, which does bring the noise from the street also unfortunately. Good breakfast and the owners are 2 great guys, would definitely stay here again for the proximity of the sites in Florence!

Awesome stay at this hotel! The front desk was extremely helpful and generous, the location was amazing, and very honest people. I left my phone charger at the hotel after checkout and the manager actually ran me down to give me charger back! Highly recommend this place!
