I arrived in the empty pub which also serves as reception to find u nobody present at 5.30 pm to check me in and had to wait more than 20 minutes before the staff member arrived. I needed to change for an event and was under pressure. This so called guest house was an absolute joke.

The room was in poor condition and had clearly been last renovated some time ago and there were hairs found in the bed. The service from staff was not good enough. As an example, when I arrived, check-in was temporarily unavailable because the member of staff was drinking with friends outside. When checked in I was then sent to the wrong room. On my final night the bar was noisy and incompatible with the status of the establishment as a ‘hotel’. Finally, upon checkout, there was no evidence of any 24hr reception. No members of staff were on hand to check-out. Would not recommend.

This was my first time staying at a Pub/Hotel mix. I would definitely recommend it to people who are traveling light , as the stairs going up to the rental are narrow and winding. The manager of the hotel - Bhargav - was extremely helpful in making my stay comfortable and helping me arrange morning transportation to Paddington station. I can't thank him enough for the help and concern he showed towards me and my wife. He is a true asset to this establishment. I will definitely come back again - but with fewer bags

Avoid this one - 10:30check out and flight of stairs - torn curtains - dirty - carpets not vacuumed. Even though only 3 guests checking out wouldn’t give any extension even for payment - doesn’t need 5 hours between checkouts and check ins for cleaning 3 rooms. Just gave the impression don’t care about customers. Paintwork disgusting.

Despite some negative reviews I found this an entirely passable and even comfortable stay. It is an old pub so as with all old buildings it has some wear and tear but that’s part of the charm. Super location, owner is a complete champ! Would stay again for sure!

There were a few things that tainted my stay. It was impossible to reach the hotel directly to change my check-in time either by phone or email, I used Hotels.com who sorted it out quickly. There was no breakfast as an option, despite the pictures on the advert showing so. In the room: bin wasn't emptied, plug was missing from the sink, remote control wasn't fully operational, no shower gel and broken fixtures to name the main ones. The staff were friendly and the pub was nice

Very Small room stayed 4 nights staff only cleaned room one time. Ran out of toilet paper and towels had to ask for some more because room wasn’t being cleaned. We were put on the 3rd floor spiral stairs all the way up not for the weak especially after walking around as a tourist all day, the stairs were our end of the day nightmare, also not real good with luggage either. There was no breakfast or coffee in the morning as shown in the pictures on the site if you’re looking for a room just to sleep and Found no luxury at all and don’t mind walking up three flights of stairs. This is the place for you if not, don’t stay here.

The staff was very friendly. The facilities weren’t impressive. Door handles broken, laundry in the hallway, marks on the walls, and concierge phone just keeps ringing. Wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The room was up a rickety set of spiral stairs which was not built for carrying suit cases up. The stairs were dusty and unkempt. The room was basic, with the curtains hanging off the rails. Generally speaking no body paid attention to the details. The morning after our arrival, dogs or cats/foxes etc had opened up the rubbish bags stacked up outside of the pub and the rubbish was strewn across the path. We were also unable to contact the Duke using the phone number we had been provided with, to let them know we would be late due to a cancelled flight and only just arrived before everyone left for the day . The host did his best to be as helpful as he could but it did not make up for the general state of the room and getting to and from the room and the street up and down rickety stairs. The pub itself was far from being what we imagine a London pub to be and it completely lacked atmosphere and ambiance.

We ended up being delayed in our trip. The communication and support by the duke rooms was superb, they reassured us dvd provided such wonderful support and reassurance on arrival. It was such a lovely welcome. The room was lovely. The bathroom was small however it was modern new, spotless and met all of our needs. The location. Was easily walkable and suited our needs well. The rooms are above a pub yet we slept well and with no noise issues.

Absolutely incredible, would recommend to anyone, 5 minute walk to Oxford street, we went purely for winter wonderland which was a 10 minute walk away. On a lovely quiet street however round the corner plenty of dining, fast food and shops around. Travelling in and out of London was also easy and in a convenient place. Just wish we were told that Sundays is free parking so if you wanted to drive all the way it is perfect. The man I assume is the owner was absolutely lovely and so helpful. Offered for us to keep our bags there the day we were going home if we wanted to. No disturbance from the other guests. As well as a tv, kettle with tea bags and milk and shampoo provided with our stay. A very luxurious stay at a cheap price rate and would definitely be my first recommendation for anyone looking to stay around there. Cannot thank the lovely owner enough for how helpful he was and made us feel very safe from when we first walked in.

DO NOT STAY, BED BUGS!!
Do not stay in this hotel unless you want to be eaten alive by the bed bugs living here. Unfortunately I realised too late and a week later I was covered head to toe in bites. I seem to have had an allergic reaction to them too so became quite unwell. Have spent a fortune now on decontaminating all our belongings and a new bed. We emailed the hotel to warn them to deal with the problem but they weren’t interested, didn’t even reply.

Unfortunately this hotel was not worth what we paid. I would recommend looking elsewhere. If it was a quarter of the price, maybe it's ok. The staff (owner?) was nice enough and even offered luggage storage on our way out in the morning (not that I would want to leave my luggage in an area like that). The bathroom was probably the best part of the whole experience. The room was so small and was up three flights of stairs (no elevator or second fire exit/stairs). The room didn't look like the one that is shown when you book the room type. The comforter was dirty/stained and there was some hairs in the sheets. There is a bar on the first floor but we didn't even try to go down given the pretty rough location. Overall I think this is case of someone thinking they can handle running a hotel but the whole effort is DOA. Save your self the regret and stay closer to the city

Overall I give the place 5 stars. All the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room, though small, was nice. If you are looking at this property just be aware it shares the building above a local pub (you check in inside the pub) and there are no elevators. The pub also has great beer and food so you don’t even need to go far. Local transportation to all the major tourist sites is within 5 minutes walking time. Rooms have good air conditioning. Being an older building it’s not very sound proofed between rooms so be aware of that. I loved the place and the staff and would stay here again.

Such a lovely hidden gem! The room was well maintained and comfortable with a small bar downstairs where we could grab a drink. The staff even let us store our luggage prior to check in so we could explore the city. Would definitely stay again!

There was a mouse in my room! Absolutely awful! Did not get any sleep as was so worried! Reported to reception (Bhargav), but he didn’t say much and didn’t really know what to do. Just said he will get it sorted for future. Shame as actually room would have been fine, but obviously the mouse affected my stay. Please refund fully. I told Bhargav I would be requesting a full refund from hotels.com as wasn’t happy with the situation. Thank you.

Above a bar but not noisy, bar closes around ten or eleven each night and really wasn’t very busy at least for my stay (I stayed wed to mon). Narrow stairs to get to rooms. Small but clean and comfortable. Noise between rooms and in hallways/ stairs carry loudly, that as well as non functioning safes were the only two complaints I have of my stay.

Perfect hotel! Great location, lovely bar below the hotel where they have the best staff - super friendly and helpful. We were worried that we might hear the pub during the afternoon/eve but didn’t hear a thing. The room was super clean and daily housekeeping which is great. The area was very quiet and the tube stop only 5/10 min walk.

Sadly the room was really let down by cleanliness. Dust, dirt, limescale, I have no idea when the carpets were last vacuumed. My Friend’s room even had dirty cups from the last occupant. Stairway & bar area was also dusty with dust webs hanging from light fittings & on shelves. I did not stay for breakfast. Continental breakfast consisted of fruit, cheese & meats laid out on the bar with no covers or refrigeration.
Hotels.com were not interested. They offered a 25 USD goodwill gesture - I live in UK & paid in GBP! I am still waiting for Hotels.com to contact me within 72 hrs ( it’s now 4 days after complaint was raised)

The guy that runs the hotel is fabulous he can not do enough for you! Very very good. However, the room is clean apart from the bottom of the toilet that has skid marks on it. It’s the rest of the place which is the issue the pub is filthy the light shades haven’t been touched years as it the hotel stair case. The paintwork is a disgrace and the carpet may have been hovered but only down the middle the edges are untouched as is the paint work. London prices are excessive but this place is what I would expect for £120 not £240. Even at £120 you would expect it to be clean. All the pubs around this place were full this place isn’t I wonder why.

Great for a layover
We stopped here for a night and it was fantastic. Great location, 8-10 minute walk to Marble Arch and the start of Oxford Street. Room was small but perfectly adequate and it was clean. It is above a pub which closes at 11pm but we didn’t hear any noise at all. Really good value for money in a city where the sky can be the limit. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

While it wasn’t what we are used to in the US it was a delightful inn to stay in. The guy that works there was amazing! He worked every day and made it great. Rooms were small but had essentials. Fresh towels daily as well! Pub downstairs NEVER disturbed us and closed up promptly at 11 pm. I recommend staying here!

BEDBUG INFESTED PROPERTY
Do not stay in this property if you don't want to spend the next month and all your money trying to eradicate all the bedbugs from your luggage and belongings. We checked in during the afternoon and didn't discover the horrific infestation until between 11-11:30 at night. We trapped live bugs under a glass in the bathroom, showed the hotel manager (and sent in email) photos of the bugs, the blood on the filthy sheets, and the bites on our bodies and were still denied a refund, even though we were so freaked out by our filthy room crawling in vermin that we left right away when we discovered the infestation. The hotel guy said they didn't have to refund us because they offered us another room in their disgusting \"hotel\" (some grimy derelict chambers above a pub that never seems to serve any food) - as though we would stay there another second after being feasted on. We couldn't even stand being in the building and felt so gross and creeped out! It's been a week and we are still going through the process of decontaminating all our things and we both still have scars from the bites we received. DO NOT STAY IN THIS \"HOTEL.\" It isn't even a hotel. Stay anywhere else - it will be cheaper in the long run than paying for this place and having them keep your money plus having to fumigate/heat treat/ professionally clean all your things (and still itch and itch and itch!). This was a great place to stay. Very quiet area with great links. The room was excellent for our needs. Clean, comfortable and in good condition. Were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. I will be returning when I have gigs to attend in London.

The building itself is a classic pub: old and charming. The stairs are a tad treacherous, especially if you are dragging heavy suitcases up 3 flights. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially given that the pub itself was closed for the Easter bank holiday. However, the pub needs some serious TLC. The paint is peeling, there was dust on many surfaces, and our windows didn't close properly. There was even some trash left under one bed.

The barman was helpful when checking me in. The room is a good size, but lacked in a few places. No working batteries in the remote, no spoons for the tea and coffee and the kettle had to be switch on and off at the mains plug.
