The property cancelled my booking at 8:30pm the evening before my stay. It still took my money. Their initial message was that I had to cancel the booking via Expedia (who have been very helpful), which I did, but then on the day of the booking they kept calling me to rearrange properties but I had already rescheduled my plans. Now I’m currently going through a lengthy dispute in getting my money back.

I wouldn’t have minded so much, but their excuse for cancelling was that they no longer operate as a hotel, yet at the time of writing this, I could still make future bookings. Overall, a very poor service.

I was asked for £50 deposit for any possible damages I would do in the room, however the rooms was in a very bad condition. Dust everywhere, food in the oven, alcohol in the fridge and it was very dirty as well the fridge. The sheets weren't changed and the list could carry on.

There was a weird smell in the room, only given a small thin blanket that had questionable stains on it. Dark room in basement. It is walkable to the tube and cool shops. Staff was friendly. I’ve stayed in worse.

On arrival, I was told that the property was not accepting Expedia reservations and we were turned away. I was told by front desk that they would provide a refund. I then received an email from Expedia saying that the property refused to refund and denied that they had turned us away. Had to go to my bank for a refund. Bizarre experience. Looks like this hotel is run by dishonest people.

All of the other reviews are correct. Do not stay here under any circumstances. I was given a key for a supposed private bathroom. Then I saw other people coming out of it. There's no heat, no air & no fan. The electric current is so strong that it blew out my nebulizer machine that I need for breathing treatments. Luckily I had a small portable one that got me through. Otherwise I would've ended up in the hospital & then had to go right home. My curling iron also heated up so much that it burned parts of my hair off! One person wrote that this is a brothel & maybe so because there's a lot of action going on between midnight & 4 am. I was put in a basement room & there was clicking of the pipes all night long. Never got any sleep here. You are only given one towel, one cup & one roll of toilet paper. The room was never cleaned in the 4 nights I was there. No creamer or milk. There was an extra very dirty blanket in the closet which I didn't dare touch. Many times there's no one at the front desk for hours. They said they're going to take $50 deposit & refund me $47. The correct amounts are that they charged $63 but they did refund $59 quickly. The only positive was that it was centrally located - that's it. There are other hotels nearby that are much better & only charge a little more - with hot breakfast too! Just book as far ahead as possible. I tried to save money & then my nebulizer broke so there goes another $50 to replace it. Stay away from this place no matter what!

Avoid! Filthy dump of a place!

Avoid at all cost!
I’ve stayed in many ‘budget’ hotels, and this was by far the worst dump I’ve ever been to.
It’s filthy!!!
First room… towel rails, floor, tv etc thick with dirt/dust. I could have wrote my name in it- it was that dirty!
Plug socket didn’t work.. was also loose. Lights/lamp didn’t work.
Tv hanging off wall.

I pointed this all out to a staff member. I got moved.

The next room had the window held open my a chunk of wood.
No window covers- at all!
Tv etc again thick with dirt.
Noise of a drip/creek from above me every 10-15 seconds- day & night.

Only time I’ve ever complained… and only time I’ve tried to get another hotel.

Avoid at all costs!

You can't varnish a turd

Stayed at this venue after getting stuck in London due to a recent train strike. Chose it primarily for it's low cost and central location as I didn't want to waste money, given that I wasn't planning on a hotel stay.

On entering the room after check-in, there was a noise so incredibly loud that it would have made it impossible to stay in the room, let alone sleep there! After immediately raising it with the clerk on the front desk, the manager investigated the source which was coming from one of the adjacent rooms. It appeared that the plumbing in the shower was generating a terrible racket when it was turned on. Incredibly, as opposed to the manager apologising to the occupant for the incovenience caused by dodgy plumbing, they rudely barked orders at them to turn the shower off like a prison guard addressing an inmate in a gulag. When I spoke to the manager myself, I was met with a very curt and offhand tone – clearly customer service and respect for paying customers is not included at this venue!

The room itself was pretty basic as you'd expect for the price, complete with ancient fittings that have probably seen better days. I also doubt the bed will win any awards for comfort.

To add insult to injury, when my £50 damage deposit was refunded, the hotel helped itself to £2.50 which was supposedly to cover merchant processing fees. Nothing was mentioned about surcharges when I paid the deposit nor does the venue's listing on Hotels.com state anything about deductions.

Great location, a good base for the sights.

I stayed in a family room with my 3 children. Check in went smoothly, the member of staff was very friendly and helpful. Only one key available. The lobby and main staircase was clean and well presented. The room was a good size, two single beds and a double. The decor is dated and slightly shabby with a few smudges on the walls but the carpet was clean, the sheets and pillowcases were new. There were only sheets and a fleece bedspread but when we stayed it was hot so the fleece was not needed, I’m not sure if I would have wanted to snuggle up with it as I couldn’t say if it had been changed between guests! The room did get hot, but There was a standing fan provided which was useful, even if slightly dusty. The en-suite was small, dated but as clean as you can get an 80s shower! The shower worked fine. There was a kettle and fridge, a few tea and coffee sachets, but only 4 paper cups- would have preferred some proper mugs! No UHT milk provided, but we easily found a Tesco round the corner. Check out was fine, had to phone to get a code for a key safe with my key deposit but all went smoothly.
This is a budget hotel, a place to rest while you explore the sights of London! If you want luxury don’t go here. But if you want a great location this is perfect Oxford street 10 minutes walk, Baker Street and the tube 5 minutes, Madame Tussaud’s at the end of the road. We went to The Hyde park concerts and it was great to just be able to walk back within 15 minutes.

Quite basic, somewhere to sleep

Very basic accomodation which I suppose fulfils its purpose of laying your head to rest. I had one hand towel, a choice of one coffee or tea, no milk. There was a little fridge which was a happy surprise. The sheets on the bed were very very worn (could nearly see through them) and felt like if you tugged on them in you sleep your deposit would not be returned to you, as they would tear!

Speaking of deposit, it's quite cheeky to take a £50 deposit (I stay in hotels regularly and have never had to pay a deposit) and be openly told I won't get the full amount back as they charge you £2.50 for the privilege of paying by card - I'm pretty sure that practice is now no longer legal.

All in all, the toilet and room were clean.
The shower worked and the only hand towel available was fluffy and clean. Did mention there was a little fridge? Handy!

The check in was ok but everything else was very grim. Tiny room in the basement. No windows. Poor ventilation. Sticky floor. Grubby blanket. Unusable shower (freezing or boiling). Smoke detector had been covered with plastic. Extinguishers out of date. No remote for tv. Adjacent room was actually a toilet for the non-ensuite rooms so got disturbed multiple times in the night.

I've had a pleasurable and affordable experience staying in this hotel and would come back again. Don't be too put off by negative reviews; the kind and incredibly helpful reception workers, accessible surroundings and London sightseeing made me really happy here. I got to sit on a little balcony/window sill and eat grapes and drink tea. Maybe it's just me, but you really don't need much more than that.

I arrived early and checked in early too thanks to the help of the kind reception workers. I was explained up front about the deposit cost and the card machine fee, and that I'd only get £47.50 back roughly. I appreciated his honesty. I would ask for cups if there was none, and was given some enthusiastically, and the other holiday stayers I've bumped into in the common room all seemed approachable and friendly. The sheets on my bed were fresh and clean, and so were my towels. There were some blankets provided that didn't look clean, but it's the latter end of June and I was not going to use blankets anyway. The mini fridge had some tiramisu from the last stayers which made me giggle, and the little tea facilities don't include milk pots- but I drink herbal tea anyway. These things made me feel less like I was living in a sterile vivarium, so my experience has been a little more \"human\" for all these quirks.
Overall, it was like staying for a sleepover and was quite nice; I felt safe, happy and welcomed.

Filthy, shabby and run down. They charge you an extra £50 at check in as a “damage deposit” without being able to refuse it! The joke is that card use is charged at £2.50 so you get back £47.50. So you hand over £2.50 to go and sleep in a far-below-basic expectations basement room that was filthy. This was a joke! Avoid!

I won't be going there again.

Selected this hotel as it was in a convenient location for a 1 night stay. Upon check-in, I was informed that the £50 credit card deposit would be returned minus a 5% handling charge. Had I been advised about this when booking, it would not have been a big deal, but I object to such charges being imposed without notification.
A cash deposit was not an option as there would be no one available until the next afternoon to return it.....

The single room originally booked had sugar granules on the side table, a used shower sachet in the shower cubicle and the shower did not drain.

The receptionist dealt with the whole situation well and 'upgraded' me to a double, which was clean. The bed however was mostly springs and there was a frequent machinery noise every minute or so.

You get what you pay for, but I'd rather walk a bit further and pay more for a more comfortable stay.

I won't be going there again.

Avoid at all cost. Don't stay here unless your alternative is a park bench in the rain. The room looks nothing like those posted online. Bathroom was filthy. Carpets were stained and hadn't been vacuumed. Some of the lighting didn't work. The electrically latched door to the front of the building wouldn't open. Front desk isn't attended in the morning.

Wasnt the best experience. The reception man requested i pay a £50 deposit upon arriving. When i refused he then adked me if i had anything valuable i could give him till i leave. Me and my 13 yr ild was only there for the night so i explained i didnt have any valuables with me. Then ge said to drop the keybin the box in the morning as the recwould be closed 😒 so how would i have got my valuables bavk in the morning if i had handed it to them....makes me wonder. The bathroom was dirty and no duvets on the beds, just a blanket.

Don't bother, stay anywhere else

From the reviews I knew the place wasn't going to be great...but it managed to be worse than expected. Room was tiny, fairly clean, but bed was even tinier and very uncomfortable. The floor squeaked whenever you walked round the room (sorry to everyone staying below), and of course I was woken up whenever the person above/next door walked around, and with paper thin walls whenever anyone walked in the hall. It wasn't even cheap to stay here. Great location near Baker Street, but I would have rather stayed 20mins out on a tube line and had a decent night sleep. Cheekily they take a £50 deposit which they say is returned within a week apparantly. I had to chase to get mine back, and I'm sure just rely on people not chasing. Then they took a £2.50 service fee to return the deposit!!!! Honestly dont even bother, I would rather stay in a hostel in a bunkbed. Hotel is like stepping back in time, nothing has changed in 50 years except the prices.

Grim but ok if you're prepared to rough it.

Pretty grim all-round, no soap in the wc/hand drying facility or even toilet roll in the shared loo when I arrived. The worst offender was the crappy blanket that looked like a dogs bed. Having said that, it was surprisingly ok to sleep in the bed and not too cold or too much noise. Serviceable but could have been so much better with just a little more effort. Also, the provided soap and showergel was unusable, take your own stuff.

Probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Did not look anything like the pictures advertised. We were given a room in the basement which was so dirty with broken furniture. The en-suite bathroom smelt strongly of faeces and the shower was mouldy. We had no duvet, just a dirty sheet and only 2 flat pillows between the two of us. Every spring in the mattress could be felt which meant both of us had bad backs in the morning. Also had to put down a deposit despite paying for the hotel in full before arriving, which we did not get fully refunded after checking out. Would strongly advise against this hotel. We will not be returning.

Confirmation said check in at 2pm. No one showed up until 3pm and I had to wait outside in the rain. Room was not properly cleaned with stains on the carpet, bedding and bathroom. Bathroom had an unsanitary odour. TV did not work. There was no on-site staff available to resolve issues as the one person at reception said he was unable to leave the desk.

Truly the worst place I have ever stayed. Dirty, not fit for use, uncomfortable. I would have been better sleeping on the street.
To top that, the owner apparently cancelled my booking and re-booked at another - higher rate. I am now having to dispute the charge with my bank. Zero service, zero sleep, zero chance of going back.

Recommend for solo travellers.

Stayed here for the night before the Queens funeral. Considering it was booked only 2 days before the visit it was a fair price.
It is basic but for the price and ideal location its in I found it fine and I had everything I needed. Was asked for a security deposit when I checked in which was quickly returned to me the day after check out. (would have been same day but I checked out on bank holiday)
Friendly staff on reception and a quiet night.
Would recommend for solo travellers like myself.

The stay was uncomfortable as ithe room was so hot. We spoke to two different receptionists for some help sadly none was given. No one called us back or came to see if we were ok. The Tv was not functioning, there was no milk to make a cup of tea or coffee. Receptionist often not at desk.
The room was big and bright. Windows unsafe for small children.
Bath was too slippery and not clean enough.
Hotel was close to shops, stations which was very favourable.

Surprise, at the reception I gave a 50 gbp guarantee for the key to each room!!! In the booking conditions, there is nothing related to any guarantee for what,for a normal key. I paid 100 gbp, 95 gbp was returned to me. The rooms are very small and dirty,with furniture from the 60s. The bathroom is very small, with very old and rusty sanitary ware. I do not recommend this accommodation, even for 1 night

The rooms are very tired and not very clean. The bedding and towels all had stains on them and the fillies were about a cm thick.
A £50 deposit was taken for a room key that takes 3-5 working days to refund (not had it back yet). No reception staff available at most times of the day.
A fire alarm went of at around 08.30 in the morning and the guests evacuated out onto the street. There was nobody available from the hotel to help either in person or on the phone. One of the other guests left his room in a hurry and forgot his room key, the staff on the emergency phone number refused to come back to the hotel to let him into his room as they deemed it “his own fault “ even when other guests called to ask them to come to the hotel. The guest was left waiting in the hallway, in his underwear for 2-3 hours.

As soon as i entered the property they charged an extra £25, and called it deposit, with part of it has been returned, without any explanation as in why, and what was the matter! The room wasnt as clean, toilet had a light but was so dark i had to use my phone’s torch, there was a broken fan on top of the closet, which couldnt be used! But luckily we had a window to open! However as you opened a window, you had another window opened right in front of you within 3 meters apart, which was see through! So not so much privacy there! But overall for a one night stay, i would say it was ok!

So the room was filthy. I was given a throw instead of a duvet and it was dirty. I asked for clean one but was declined so I took a trip to primark and bought a duvet. The room had dust on all surfaces. Floors were not vacuumed. Not in my room and not in surrounding areas. I found a piece of glass in the floor. They wouldn’t change my room and having no choice I stayed. If I was in my car I would’ve slept there rather. Also hotels.com won’t help resolve the issue. I was offered a free nights stay there again after I complained- and I can’t imagine a reason I would ever want to stay there again.

Room was freezing, plumbing stunk to high heaven, TV was broken, carpet was stiff with gunk, rotten and filthy. I was cleaning using anti-bac wipes and removing layers of filth. Rather expensive compared to the size, comfort, and cleanliness of the room. The host/manager, Azhar, was reasonably helpful and nice, but other than that (and the really solid wifi) this place doesn't have a lot going for it.

The room was dirty, the mattress had springs sticking out so it was terrible to sleep on, the room was tiny for 2 people, and there is a lot of noise from the road just outside.

I wouldn't recommend staying here, for multiple reasons. The room wasn't cleaned well and we had to get it cleaned again, and it wasn't fully cleaned then either. Picked this place because of the kitchenette, which was unusable due to no cooking or eating utensils except the half pack of plastic spoons the previous guest left. There was only a sandwich maker, but it was greasy and dirty from previous guests. The bathroom, while functional, was dim and has exposed wires.

Terrible, outdated, cracked toilet seat, dirty bathroom, bad odour. Could not get ourselves to stay there for our two night getaway and had to find another hotel and pay for it. Refund was not an option either on this hotel. Photos are very deceiving online. Would not recommend it if comfort and quality are your priorities.

Just what we needed.

We just needed a bed for the night after a day out in London. This hotel was conveniently positioned and clean and the beds must have been comfortable as I slept soundly. It was perfect for our needs.

Very basic hotel, Rooms dated with old cheap furntiure. Not particularly the cleanest hotel but beds and bathroom were ok. Its a cheap hotel so wasnt expecting alot. Its not as bad as some of the reviews but still not great either.

Fair solution overall (price, location, conditions, service). Reception was very kind and helpful with a bit late check in. Room was decent but small with twin bed swueezed into it. Nice shower. Fairly staying for a night or two and good general conditions. Maybe two decent pillows would help a good dleep.

We arrived after check in hours, had to call hotel to advise when arriving so that a person can meet us at location to check us in. There is an after hours check in fee. The address was hard to locate with Uber but the staff was very patient and courteous to assist us on getting to location. Some one was outside waiting for us, we checked in, paid fee, gentlemen was on site for 5 minutes then left.
Once upstairs in the room, we found old cookies between the bed and wall, crumbs on the bed and heavy dust on bed frames. Due to the time we arrived, we were too tired to call and ask for another room. There was no a.c., which we were aware but the street noise was loud enough when window was left open.
Since we had to leave early, again no one at front desk to discuss my issues, simply left the key in the drop off box.
I would recommend management to check rooms for thoroughness of cleanliness.

Reception was a bit unprofessional & they insisted on £20 cash for deposit for the key - getting that back on check out proved problematic & slow ..
The tv didn’t work & the room was much smaller than expected.
The room itself was ok - very clean & looked nice. The bed was two beds put together as a double &
was a little uncomfortable - and the shower was also tiny - making it difficult to move without switching the water off, or making it cold or hot depending on the move!
But overall, for the location (which was perfect for the Hyde Park event we attended) made up for everything else ..and it was relatively cheap.

The location is excellent unfortunately the state of the rooms not so .. I felt sorry for the cleaning staff only 2 people to clean 3 floors ! There was rubbish under the beds . Found a or dirty socks , crisp packets empty water bottles . Tv remote missing. Couldn't watch it Only one pillow each had to ask for more , mattresses seen better days . Good job we was out virtually the whole time . Only plus side was tea coffee making facilities and a fridge / microwave .

It started with a phone call at 23:15 the night before telling me they were cancelling my booking unless I paid in full. On arrival we were shown to a room where the window looked out onto a brick wall, the bedding was dirty and there was a dirty cup and empty water bottle. We were allocated another room which was very basic. The bathroom was so small you could stand in the shower sit on the loo and brush your teeth in the sink all st the same time. However it had a lovely big window overlooking the street below. A deposit of £20 is requested for your key which was returned when I handed it back, my issue is that I don’t always carry cash. Due to the room being so small it was very hot with two people in the room but a fan was provided. Best bit was the location great for Oxford street and close to the station

Down at heel, low grade hotel, friendly staff

Tiny shower in the room corner next to the hand basin. No towels provided. Shared toilet very, very basic. Place is generally very depressing and needs alot of work. \"Cheap\" to stay so don't expect much. Staff seem very friendly.
