L'hôtel est idéalement situé en plein cœur de la ville, tout étant accessible à pied. Le personnel était accueillant et attentionné ; l'enregistrement a pris moins de 5 minutes.

Nous avons séjourné dans une chambre double classique. Petite, elle était équipée de deux lits simples rapprochés, ce qui rendait la partie centrale inégale et inconfortable pour dormir. La chambre était propre et semblait avoir été récemment rénovée. Les produits de toilette étaient de qualité correcte.

En tant que membres du programme Accor Members, nous avons bénéficié d'une boisson de bienvenue ; chacun d'entre nous a reçu une coupe de champagne rosé du bar. Notre départ tardif a été apprécié. Le minibar gratuit de la chambre comprenait de l'eau gazeuse San Pellegrino, des bouteilles en verre de Coca-Cola et de Coca-Cola Zéro, ainsi qu'une petite bouteille de jus d'orange – une attention délicate.

Le restaurant du rez-de-chaussée était petit. Le petit-déjeuner était servi dans trois espaces distincts, avec un buffet et des plats à la carte. Des plats préparés à la demande, comme des omelettes, des œufs au plat, du bacon et des champignons, étaient proposés. Du jus d'orange fraîchement pressé était offert, et le thé était servi en capsules d'une marque française de luxe. Personnellement, j'aurais préféré du thé en vrac plutôt que des sachets, vu le prix.

La sélection de viennoiseries et de gâteaux était correcte, mais sans plus – surtout ici en France 🇫🇷, réputée pour ses délicieuses pâtisser

Beautiful hotel in a terrific location -- walkable to train station and Old City. Lovely bar and lobby area to relax in and the rooms were spacious and very comfortable.

The products in the bathrooms were also lovely and I appreciated the eco-friendly steps of providing shampoo, soap, conditioner, etc and avoiding small, single us plastics. Lovely, thoughtful design and excellent sound proofing. We never heard our neighbors.

Only comment is that they need to clean the rugs.

Gym also decent for a french hotel, but my favorite work out was a run along the river -- there's an outstanding path for a long walk / run that is close to the hotel.

Staff were very helpful in making dinner reservations and in general, extremely pleasant.

Definitely recommend this hotel.

This is a very nice boutique hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a deluxe room looking onto the courtyard, which was very quiet. The room was very stylish with a great bathroom. The only flaw was that the shower door leaked due to the fact that it was designed with no seal on the door. There is a very nice spa which is well equipped. We both enjoyed very effective foot massages to relieve the pressures of too much sightseeing.

Great hotel in Rennes. Clean, well-appointed, and modern rooms. Very central location near restaurants and shops, and Rennes is a very walkable city. Staff were professional and knowledgeable. Restaurant offered good breakfast spread, but didn’t have chance to have lunch or dinner there. Tiny gym, which was too small to be practical. Spa was nice additional, although it tended to get crowded at times. Overall, I think this is the top hotel in Rennes.

Hotel was great and staff were good but they charged 100 euros per person for the two nights as a deposit (ie 400 euros PLUS the cost of the room as a deposit) nearly £700 as a charge before we paid when we left.

They would not accept Amex to pay the deposit (even though we had paid using Amex via Hotels.com) and when we left we paid for the room on Amex and were told it takes 3 effin days for the bank to re credit the drposit money to our account!!! Luckily we had the money on deposit but would have been embarrassing if we hadn’t

The only thing I would suggest if that they better inform the guest arriving by car, that the hotel entrance( and car drop off) is in a street that is forbidden for not authorized cars … but according to them, if you are staying in the hotel you are allowed to be in that street

This is a nice hotel, with excellent restaurant, service, AC, WIFI, ambiance, general comfort and location, the only negative things that in my could be better would be English news Channel like CNN, parking facilities without an overprice, better fitness room (larger and with a TV) and a bit more light in the rooms.

We specially loved the service, always excellent, the excellent location, the delicious shower and more than anything else, the outstanding restaurant.

The hotel is about 50 metres down a one way street and my lift dropped me at the top of the road. When I arrived the hotel looked as if it had gone out of business. It was all boarded up and only by chance the door opened and I was able to get in. Paid a lot of money to stay here in order to use spa and restaurant. The spa facilities have to be booked and must have arrived at the busiest time and restaurant also fully booked. I was a single traveller and was offered to eat in the bar area which was a busy thoroughfare. It seemed strange how I was offered bar food and not allowed in the restaurant. On my return after eating out I noticed there was space in the restaurant after all. It seems that arrogant purveys at this hotel

A Gem in Rennes - the Balthazar Hotel & Spa

Our first time in Rennes, and after a bit too much road time, we wanted a nice place to unwind that was also centrally located, for our few days available to explore Rennes. When booking on Hotels.com, the Balthazar appeared to be that place... and we were not disappointed!

From the moment we walked thru the door, we could see and feel the elegance / class of the hotel, and of its staff. Beautiful and comfortable lobby, bar, patio... elegant dining room, relaxing spa, and well-appointed, spacious, and comfortable rooms.

The hotel is a short cab ride from the train station, and walking distance to center city, restaurants, a truly wonderful park, and the Saturday morning market.

Jewel!!!

This hotel was an unexpected jewel. By far the best hotel in Rennes! The service is outstanding. Alexandre and Marike made us feel very taken care of. The amenities are above and beyond what we expected. From coffee to bottles of water and madeleines every night in the room. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious. The bar and appetizers are super. Try the hibiscus Gin and tonic. You will thank me for the advice! The spa is welcoming, quiet and a great place to finish the day. We liked this hotel so much that we cancelled a reservation in Saint Malo to go back and spend one more night at Balthazar!

This is the second time I've stayed at the Balthazar.
Pros: Quiet location, close to shopping. First-rate breakfast buffet.
Cons: The room air-conditioning could be improved. The room was a bit warm and stuffy, even though I had the air conditioning set to the coldest level. The mini-bar is free but it does not contain any alcohol. It would be nice to add some beer and wine to the mini-bar in the rooms to avoid the hassle of having to order room service.

Top hotel due to staff

Concierge parking. Room double doors both double glazed so soundproof from road below. Attentive staff, good maps with restaurant classes. Excellent breakfast worth paying for.

Nice property near the old city. Our room had a little balcony with roof top views. Modern, spacious and my wife loved the spa. Staff was warm and welcoming. Waze keep me going in circles so they talked me to a place where I could park and the valet came to get us. Room was spacious and great price makes this a terrific value. You won’t regret booking here. Just use the street name when inputting your navigation app. They replenished the mini bar daily. The toilet is in a separate area but does not have a sink.

The hotel staff were exceptional- immediately welcoming and accommodating, concerned that all of our needs were met and questions answered. Peace and calm

Love this hotel. So stylish with super efficient staff. Park the car on the street outside and it is taken away and brought back in the morning. A convenient location to be able to walk to a nearby brasserie. Super suite up on the fifth floor overlooking the rooftops of Rennes.

This is a lovely modern hotel staffed by young clerks who are eager to help your stay go smoothly.

The tricky part for us is that the street is closed to motor traffic except for buses. This really confused us, as we drove round and round trying to find a place to park so that we could check in. No luck! We finally had to drive down the forbidden street and park up on the sidewalk in front of the hotel in order to check in. This turned out to be exactly what everyone does, and then the valet takes your car away somewhere to park it.
So, you will have to get everything out of your car that you think you will need during your stay, as it is tricky to get to your car again.
Once we managed that, everything else about the stay was just wonderful. The room, the breakfast, the shower, the comfortable bed, the cleanliness... all good! Great location for exploring Rennes.

Beautiful, centrally located hotel. We picked it based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Shower was great and accommodated my very tall american husband. Only drawback was the super loud English football team who was staying in the hotel and playing against Rennes. They woke me at 3 am with their yelling.

Comfortable hotel is downtown area

The beds were excellent in this hotel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, one thing the hotel could work on is explaining upfront how to get the car to the valet parking. The road that goes in front of the hotel has \"no turning\", \"do not enter\" and \"bus lane only\" signs down every street making it seem impossible to get to the front of the hotel by car.

Good hotel avoid giving them your credit card

A very good hotel in the centre of modern Rennes perfect for shopping and sightseeing. A smart well designed establishment not that easy to find unless you take a taxi 20 Euros from airport. The largest bathroom I have ever had but sink taps which were smooth result difficult to turn off with wet hands. Bed slightly hard otherwise a very good room. the only fault was reception where on arrival they asked for 100 Euros on a credit card which was cancelled provided we had done no damage nor incurred any additional costs. This caused extra banking/exchange costs and left me feeling less like a guest and more like a potential criminal. I would have been happier handing over 100 Euros in cash for it to be returned later. Which would have left me feeling wealthier if not trustworthy.

Rooftop Idyll In Rennes

We've been to this fabulous hotel before and couldn't wait to visit it again. It's a difficult location to get to by car because the street has restricted access times; but that said a very charming young man was on the pavement almost before we had pulled up. Bags whisked inside and our car taken off to the hotel's secure parking in a matter of minutes. Two charming young ladies to check us in: and would we like a complimentary room upgrade to a top floor suite? Yes we would. Escorted up to our room by one of the receptionists who described our upgrade as the best room in the hotel. Fabulous vista out over the rooftops of Rennes accompanied by an equally fabulous sunset. Tired after a 3 hour drive from Niort we decided to dine in on room service which we thoroughly enjoyed on our private terrace! Wonderfully attentive breakfast in the morning before an early check out - our car was waiting outside even before we had reached reception from our room. Would we stay again> You bet!

I would rate this hotel as a four-star hotel, not a five-star hotel. The construction was solid and rooms were very quiet. We never heard any noise from adjacent rooms or from the hall. Air conditioning worked very well.

Gotta love the staff!

Brief...very brief. The hotel is very well appointed, great location, but by far, the best thing about this hotel was the people who served us. From the reception desk, to the bar, every person we talked to treated us as \"special guests\". The owners of this hotel should feel proud of their staff. We will gladly be coming back.

Nearly there, but....

There’s a lot about this place that is very good. The service on the whole was extremely helpful. We had a superior room which was comfortable and nicely designed if a bit small. BUT – it was, sadly, a triumph of design over practicality. It had a spacious bathroom with large walk-in shower. It has a neat pull-out hanging space for clothes – and yet there was not 1 drawer in the room for clothes. The room desperately needed a chest of drawers. So, OK for one night perhaps, but we stayed 4 and ran out of space.
