This was a last minute booking and proved to be wonderful if only for a night. We had to leave early in the AM
and saw the breakfast spread, made with so much love and attention, so bummed not to try. Room
was perfect! Small clean white and clean! Bed was so
comfy too… and you can bring your beloved pooch! Next to hotel is a little dog park to let your dog off leash and play too!

Very pleasant staff, extremely welcoming and helpful, clean smart room, not spacious but absolutely fine, comfortable bed, nice frssh linen and towels. It was not that warm out but room still warm, bathroom heating was on. Easy walking distance from the centre.

My second visit so that speaks volumes. It’s quirky which I like, my classic room was a good size. No air con in this eco friendly hotel though. I like it because it’s away from the city centre, but only 5 minutes walk away from the old part or the river side port. Feels very safe as a solo female traveller. Good sturdy place to lock my bicycle. The breakfasts are in a long communal dining space, and although I didn’t have one, other guests were and the buffet choices were plentiful and looked lovely.

We loved this hotel, all the staff and owner were friendly and helpful. The room was fresh and airy and the bathroom was lovely. The location is perfect to walk to all the sites, cafes, market, and shopping. Don’t miss Thabor Park, Café Breton, Angelo’s, the art museum and the cathedral.

The hotel was fun and in a convenient, quiet residential area. Underground public car park was very close.
Rooms were nicely done but whilst I appreciate the environmental drivers for not having a fridge in each room, it does limit what you can buy to take home:

Great stay, original hotel and friendly staff

Literally 1 minute away the city center by walking distance, extremely close to a public parking so quite easy to park nearby. The staff was great, the look of the places is very original and well curated (I loved listening to The Doors in their comfy saloon corner with stellar HiFi sound). Breakfast and dinners at the place were also plenty nice. The room was super comfortable and clean (each room has its own design). Note that there is no A/C but that was not a problem at all for me (June stay). Will keep this address in my contact list!

Beautiful “concept” hotel. Very hip, modern and accommodating. Clean and well-appointed with accommodating, courteous staff. Easy parking, albeit paid. Stunning kitchen with breakfast and dinner options. A tiny complaint: the squeeze bottle of generic soap in the bathroom. Organic or not it didn’t fit with the level of quality of the facilities or price point.

Charming but unusual - we loved it

After a disappoint experience near Arcachon, we made it to Rennes and checked in into this hotel. Wow, nice place with lots of character. Not the most typical hotel: when we arrive there was live music in the hall... the vibe is great and the room were confortable and clean. Walking distance to the city centre, parking just outside the hotel on the street.

Le Magic Hall is a unique, interesting place in Rennes, a music school as well as a place to stay. It's in a historic building, quirky in a nice way, though a bit hard to find as it's tucked away in the midst of modern apartment complex. Our room was great - spacious and comfortable with a fun ballet theme (we're dance enthusiasts.) The public area is somewhat small but nicely set up and the breakfast was fresh and healthy.

This hotel seems to be brand new and has very comfortable facilities. I enjoyed the quirky decor of my room, the homey setting of the restaurant/lobby, and the hotel’s commitment to sustainability. Location was excellent: a short walk to the main squares of central Rennes. I didn’t eat anything there, so I can’t comment on the quality of the food, but the patrons I saw eating seemed to be having a good time. The only thing that was not stellar: I found the front desk service to be a little dry—no offer to call me a taxi as I left, for instance.

I was travelling around France and stopped in Rennes for the longest duration of 3 night instead of my usual two. Rennes was my 6th stop. Although the hotel is lovely and decorated nicely I did not get any sleep while there. My room #1 was close to the entrance and the kitchen.....it is required that guests hand in their keys and receive them when they return. I was privy to the exchange of each guest arriving at the end of their evening, the smokers sitting at the chairs at the entrance talking, the 6 am kitchen activities, and the arrival of guests for breakfast, with there cheerful hellos and chatter. I was exhausted every day and wasted a lot of time resting during the day when I should have been exploring. Up until my stay in Rennes at Le Magic Hall I had no problem with noise anywhere. Also, the hotel is located in a parking area and there was loud talking, cars coming and going, and people just hanging around being noisy. One was for ed to shut the window although quite warm at the time. My stay at Le Magic Hall was not extraordinary in any way. Also, there is a problem with the booking agent’s list of inclusions, like an in room coffee maker...water....These details need to be changed.

For the music-minded

The Magic Hall is in a nondescript apartment resident locale within easy walking distance from the part of town where all the university students love to gather. The hotel itself is clean and well maintained. Its theme is music and music recording, as well as art and literature. The breakfast buffet is quite well done albeit at a price. Rooms vary in size but the two that we took for one night were both very clean and adequate. Staff were very helpful.

The approach to the hotel doesn’t look too promising, being surrounded by relatively modern residential apartments, but it is a lovely building and a really great place to stay in Rennes. It is a few steps to the old part of the city and there is meter parking close by which is really reasonably priced. (The meters look complicated but you can choose English if needed) The Hotel is extremely comfortable, quiet, super clean, and our room (8) was large and airy. The decor is designer/hip. Everything looks stylish and carefully curated. The communal kitchen is colourful and welcoming and the fixed price breakfast includes delicious home made butter cake, pastries and madeleines.
Highly recommend the Magic Hall as a place to stay. Faultless, really!

The staff are so friendly, easy to talk and approachable. We arrived late and it was dark outside. Yang (not sure if I spelled his name right) offered to help to move in our luggage. Parking lot is very tight in the city. Yang kindly advised us how to get parking spot - Free. the place is being designed like home kitchen. the staff who prepared us late supper was so nice and it was great!

Next morning, the girl who prepared us breakfast is was so nice, she treated every guest like family member. A memorable place!

What a fantastic hotel, right in the heart of the city.

The hotel itself has an eclectic mix of memorabilia, mainly centred in the music industry - and even boasts its own recording studio.

The staff are very attentive and professional, and the whole place feels wonderfully relaxed.

The Expedia description doesn’t mention parking, but don’t let this put you off. There is both on street parking as well as an underground car park within 100m of the hotel.

Excellent hotel. We booked last minute and usually aim for 4/5 star accommodation, but even though this is only rated as a 3 star, the reviews were excellent and the photos looked good. We were not disappointed. The hotel is a converted cinema, and has been fitted out really well, with music and film themes. It felt very new, modern, and quirky. The bedroom was small but perfectly formed. Everything was brand new, the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was big and worked well. The toilet was separate from the basin & the rest of the bathroom, which I don't particularly like, but not a major issue. We had a hip/hop themed room with a cool speaker set to dock our music in. The windows were operated by remote control. The rooms seemed to be very well insulated from sound.

Breakfast can be bought for extra, and is at a large shared central table. There appeared to be cakes and drinks available when we arrived but we didn't have time to try them as we wanted to head straight into Rennes. The hotel is in a slightly strange location within a housing/apartment complex, but it is a very short walk into the historical town. We found meter parking very close by.

There is a music studio available to guests, with guitars, drums, amps etc. My husband was overjoyed! It is sound proofed so no issue for the other guests!

Really an excellent experience, and I'd highly recommend at this price.

Really a magical hotel

Property was in great location; just a few mins walk from the old town. Loved the modern communal vibe. Rooms were small, but clean and updated. Our bathroom had a skylight! Best part is the sound proofed professional recording studio. If you are a musician, you would thoroughly enjoy free access to it, even late into the night. Order drinks in the lobby and jam out later. A dream!

This hotel is in a great location within walking distance of all the top places. It is a very modern hotel with nice areas to have a drink or to have small dishes that they will prepare for you. The bed is very comfortable and the room extremely clean and modern although somewhat small. The lovely breakfast served at a long table in the kitchen was all freshly prepared and delicious. The hotel is a great value.

On échange naturellement avec les autres clients autour de la table que l’on partage.

Personale molto disponibile, la struttura è davvero bella, ogni dettaglio è curato e rimanda all’arte, alla musica, alla danza. Il posto è in una posizione strategica, vicinissima alle strade caratteristiche di Rennes. L’unico dettaglio è che il materasso non è comodissimo. Ma la stanza è molto confortevole e pulita. Se passiamo da Rennes sicuramente torneremo a dormire qui.

Un immense merci pour notre séjour au Magic Hall! Nous avons adoré l’endroit! Extrêmement bien situé au cœur du centre historique de Rennes, tout se fait à pieds. Le Magic Hall offre des chambres spacieuses, extrêmement bien équipées, confortables, avec en plus un choix d’oreillers! La déco thématique est contemporaine et épurée. La salle à manger et le salon sont conviviales où il fait bon vivre. L’accueil du personnel est chaleureux, les petits déjeuners sont copieux et nous offrent des produits de qualité. La grande table permet de discuter avec nos voisins et partager nos expériences de voyage. Un endroit à découvrir!

Très bon accueil, très bonne literie et température ambiante dans la chambre, noir complet, sommeil réparateur, très bien situé, facile d'accès et pour se garer.
Petit-déjeuner non testé mais appétissant.

2 nuits en plein centre du vieux Rennes. Magique !
L'hôtel est fabuleux, la chambre danceuse est magnifique et très confortable.
Je n'avais jamais eu de bar à oreillers. Le petit déjeuner est varié et copieux, les salons sont confortables pour écouter de la musique ou lire en buvant un bon verre de vin ou de rhum.
Bibliothèque, sonothèque et salle insonorisée avec guitares, basse et batterie sur place !
Il manque le parking réservé aux clients même s'il y en a un à 50m...
Accueil parfait et prix justifié ! Déco géniale, ambiance unique et proximité de la vie culturelle, des restos et de tout ce qui fait le charme de Rennes. À (re)faire ❤️
