Stayed here for a week in January, it has a very convenient location and I found the hotel easily as it was just a short walk from the main train station in Rennes.
There are many dining options around the train station and close to the hotel which were very good for breakfast lunch and dinner.
The staff was very helpful and even helped to bring the luggage up the stairs to the desk when I arrived.
I liked my room. It was cleaned daily and the bathroom looks new and clean.
I do not make use of the fitness facility or The Spa, but found it very convenient to walk around the city as it is only 15 minutes from the center of the old town.
Very comfortable hotel in Rennes , I would stay again.

As an American traveling with his wife and 3 kids, it is always a welcome surprise when the front desk persons speak English and tolerate my attempts at French. They were very kind. They understood and articulated the difficulties of driving in Rennes and so made good recommendations for amenities within walking distance. It is very close to the train station with many food choices. Way nicer than the other hotel we tried in Rennes on the front end of our trip. We were a family of 5 so I did not have time for the spa.

Parking should be free for customers!
Our kids loved this hotel, pool and hamman was lovely, room amazing but very hot!!! Even with air con. Coffee making facilities in room needs decaff option and real cups.
Check in and out was easy and very friendly staff, nice breakfast too! Close to great restaurants!!! Easy to walk to old town.

Lovely hotel generally and a great selection for breakfast. Would have been nice to have used the spa, however this was a business trip so there was no time. Excellent location close to the train station. My only complaint was that the bedding had been put on inside out, so I had to re-do it and the washing powder used made the bedding feel very cheap and starchy.

Convenient location near train station, nice little pool, decent breakfast buffet and friendly, helpful receptionist. It was really hot while we were in Rennes, so the air con was also very welcome. This hotel worked really well for a one-night stay before catching the train the next morning.

Home from home

After à long day of excursions the room felt so right just like coming home ! Very confortable, nice decor, huge bathroom I could not have asked for better. Since I had to leave before the restaurant opened its doors at 6:30 AM every morning to go on my excursions I never had à chance to try their breakfast.

Access through Rennes is difficult - not the fault of the hotel but a fact nonetheless.
Food was good but seemed expensive even by Novotel standards.
If I had to stay in Rennes again, would happily stay at the Novotel but in all honesty, for our purposes, would probably stay outside of Rennes if possible.

Somehow Disappointed.

Picture of room displaying on Expedia is not the same as reality! Completely different! a little disappointing really. The hotel is good and clean, I like it, just please post real pictures of the real rooms since this is could be misleading. The real room is much less quality than the one on Expedia.

We wanted to visit Mt St. Michelle and Novotel was perfect, it is located a couple of blocks from the train and bus stations and walking distance to the center of town. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and they have a good and generous breakfast.

We love this hotel! Our room was a good size and ultra modern. Lovely linen and fluffy towels. The bed was big and comfortable. The added bonus is the swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room, just what you need after a day exploring the town. With parking at the rear of the hotel, it just ticks all the boxes for us.

Hardly 4 star except for Theo.

it was a disappointment. Only 1 small shampoo and gel. nothing else provided for a 4 star hotel??? No water! No robes! No bedroom slippers! Given the price it was not acceptable. Room was just average. And no elevator from basement carpark nor concierge to help with luggage. In fact a staff saw me and simply joked about having to struggle with my bags. I wouldn't go back. Staff were generally unsmiling and curt EXCEPT for Theo at front desk who was always smiling and very helpful esp given I don't speak French. I give Theo a 5 star while his hotel gets a 1 star or 2 at most.

Big Problems of Hotels.com and Novotel.

Several Problems.
First Big Problem of Hotels.com
Based on the Photo of Junior Suite at Hotels.com, Junior Suite should have a bath tub. But no Junior Suite has a bath tub. I reserved a Junior Suite because I need a bath tub after trip every day, even though Junior suite was more expensive than other hotels and other rooms. This is obviously a fault of Hotels.com but Hotels.com did not respond to my complaint whenever I sent emails. They just said \"please wait 72 hours bla bla bla\" and in the end I checked out without any treatment from Hotels.com.

Next several problems of Novotel.
They hardly replace everyday-products and don't take care of trash, and it turns out that they don't vacuum every day. The room service quality is as bad as US 3 star hotels.
I asked to change the room but people there did not pay attention.

Basically, overall my experience at Novotel was not good at all because of the fault of Hotels.com and Novotel.

We would highly recommend Novotel for a family stay as the staff were excellent providing excellent service, spa facilities were excellent and there was access to a kids activities room in front of reception. We were also impressed with the family suite as it afforded us lots of space and comfort for the duration of our stay with free wifi. Breakfast was also very good with all tastes catered for.

Bedroom is upstairs and for someone who lives in a rancher we'd prefer one floor, but it was fine for one night. We found the restaurant expensive with a 16 euro hamburger. We ordered well done and got almost raw. Once it came back cooked, it was tasteless. The dressing on the salad we didn't like and there was no option.

I chose this hotel not only because I stayed there before and like the place but also because it is very close to the TGV station

Check in delayed but eased by offer of free drinks at bar. Staff extremely helpful with all requests. Room well appointed and very good value - duplex with ample space downstairs for our teenage son. Free access to pool, spa and steam room very welcome after hard day's driving. Within very easy walk of all that central Rennes has to offer. Breakfast a little chaotic with lack of clarity over what you could have at what price - I think that there were 3 price bands but all a little confusing. If ever in Rennes again I would certainly book it.

Great choice for a hotel in Rennes

Stayed here during a visit to University of Rennes. Great location - down from the station/Gare. Great breakfast which was included in room cost. The service was efficient and the front desk attendants could converse in English so that made our life easy.

Will certainly stay here again if we come back to Rennes.

Great stay.

So close to the train station, this was the perfect choice. The room was quiet and comfortable. The restaurant was great. It was so nice to have a good meal before our much needed sleep. Breakfast the following morning was a combination of American and European. Delicious.

The staff was helpful and kind. It was just a short walk to pick up our rental car.

Perfect for the weekend

Visitng a friend for the weekend in Rennes. Hotel is in an excellent location, is clean, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and modern. The wifi was speedy too. The only disappointing thing was the pool wasn't working while I was there (though hopefully that'll be fixed before my next visit!) Would definitely recommend.

Very decent breakfast and big applause for the big cups, tea selection and individual teapots. My pet peeve at many hotels is to drink some miserable herb extract called tea out of tiny coffee cups. The reception personnel was top class, the executive room very comfortable with excellent shower cabin. Close to the train station, but a 15-20 min walk to the central restaurant area.

Great amenities, convenient location

The hotel was everything I needed. I arrived and departed by train, and did a day trip by train to Saint-Malo, so the location a few blocks directly up a main street from the train station was ideal. It also was not a long walk to the Musee des Beaux Arts and the historic centre. The room was very comfortable and cleverly designed in terms of furniture and lighting. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety and everything was kept well stocked by the efficient staff. Visit the Parc Thabor -- it is gorgeous.

Perfect for one night on way to Paris by train. Great restaurants along the street but many options to choose from -bars, mini-market etc. Difficulty returning rental car at station because of bank holiday, front desk was helpful. Easy to park temporarily in small lot behind hotel. Clean comfortable room, blackout drapes, welcoming lobby space. Hallways to rooms have feint indoor pool aroma, that diminishes as you go to higher floors.

Lived up to expectations, but avoid ground floor!

I stayed at this hotel three weeks ago with the friend, which we chose given the additional facilities (pool, jacuzzi etc) at little of a hike from other hotels' rates in the area.

The staff are extremely friendly and courteous. The hotel itself is conveniently located a short walk from the Centre Gare.

The room we had was on the ground floor. I would guess that most travellers that have obtained reduced rate rooms as we did through Expedia are probably placed in these. Although clean and pleasant, there were a few indications that they room had less care and attention than other rooms in the hotel. The number of our room had been peeled off our door and we did not have complimentary robes in our room which are referred to by other reviews. Unlike rooms on the other floors, we had to walk through reception to access the fitness suite, which was not ideal.

The pool is rather small although very clean situated in an ambient designed high-ceiling room on the ground floor. The jacuzzi is rather large. There is an additional room with a cross-trainer, running machine and cycling bike which was comfortable with free water and use of a television provided.

Decent hotel

We only stayed at the hotel for one night and chose to go for one of the duplex suites, so our experience is not likely to be typical, but we were very pleased with our choice. The hotel is modern and clean, our room exceeded our expectations and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok without being exceptional.
Our room was good value for money, which probably reflected the hotel's location, which is acceptable rather than wonderful, but close to the SNCF station if that is important to you. We would certainly go back there for a short stay in the future but, having been to Rennes before, we know that the historic parts of the city that we would want to go to are not comfortably within walking distance. Therefore although the public transport system around the hotel is good we would be looking for a place closer to the centre if we were staying for more than a couple of days.
