Out of 5 hotels I've stayed at in France on this trip, this is the most \"hotel-like\" of what we stayed in. The room smelled like a hotel room, in the best way. The bathroom had a tub (although it still wasn't fully enclosed). Everything was clean and nice. You can make coffee and tea in your room; there were robes, which my daughter loves after her showers; and I loved having the water refill station in the lobby. The only negative thing was carrying our suitcases up the stairs to enter the hotel hahaha. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed one night when passing through Rennes. The hotel rooms need a little updating although they are clean and perfectly ok for a short stay. Staff friendly, parking safe and easy to find. Hotel is very central for shopping and dining out.

central to town ,but a little run down , unfriendly staff , Requested NO room service using the door handle hanging note supplied by hotel in each room but staff entered room and moved all my belongings !! this happened to other visitors as well . when reception was questioned about this,they said staff would have to go in each room every day , NEVER have I been in a hotel with this policy before.

The TV didn't work. I had to call a technicien. The heat didn't work. I had to call an employee. We had only one towel. We're two. No trays for breakfast. You have to go back again and again to the buffet. Not easy to park.
The view from our room was appalling. I won't stay there again.

The infrastructure itself is great. The hotel is really well located, has comfortable rooms with large beds and walking in showers with waterfall douches. Breakfast was decent, with some local products, including oysters which give a nice local feeling to any traveler. But the highlight is definitely the staff. Emre and Chloe do their best to support guests finding their ways in Rennes. From restaurant tips to the local secrets. from acommodating the diverse requests a guest has, I believe that is what makes a difference in a hotel and they fulfill completely this matter. Thank you for great days in Rennes and a bientot!

Very convenient location and parking was also offered. Room was spacious and clean but nothing special. It was a good choice for someone that wants to explore the city centre and spend less time in the room. Did not use the fitness or breakfast so cannot comment.

Terrible experience, not for tall people!

The location is great, 10 minute walk from the station and near the busy Republique area. The hotel looks a lot better in photos than reality. Maybe a lot of issues I faced had to do with the fact that it was a top floor room - but there wasn't a window I could open, just a skylight (which explicitly said not to open!). The ceiling high was low through so I hit my head against the towel rack in the bathroom and the lamp fitting in the bedroom (I'm not even 6 feet tall). There were no blinds or curtains on the skylight. The bathroom wss also very cramped and overall, I wasn't impressed with this hotel - would expect more from an Accor hotel. Would not stay here ever again and would think twice before staying in a Mercure.

Awesome breakfast!

The great surprise was how awesome the selection ans varieties of their breakfast. We loved it. The not-so-good was the room smelled very moldy. Given an one-night stay and checking out of hotel early morning for a flight, we didn’t make it a big deal.

Fun in Bretagne.

It was a little warm so the fact that the ac didn’t perform well was a bummer. And there were no sheets, just a comforter so we had to sleep uncovered. The facade is under construction, which happens, but the obstructed view was a minor inconvenience.

All was good until I asked the lady at reception if I could borrow an iron. She barked at me that there were only 4 irons and they were all being used. I politely said maybe I could go on a wait list and she barked again that there was already another person in front of me. Nothing arrived and I couldn’t believe it but our door cards needed to be re scanned and she had a go again. We gave up wanting the iron. I did the ironing 2 days later in Bordeaux

The hotel had a convenient location half way from the train station to the city center. The hotel had many amenities and the hotel staff were friendly and accomodating. Overall, I would probably give the hotel a 4.3 for its star rating. Although not a fault of the hotel, our room was a little small for a family with a small child. Otherwise, I am pleased with our choice.

The Perfect Hotel for Rennes

The Mercure Centre Parlement is perfect for a stay in Rennes because not only is it a wonderfully European hotel, but its placement within the city is the best of all other hotels with any sort of luxury feel to them.

Situated within a small community of wonderful little boutiques, cafés, and restaurants, it is also near to the cathedral and the museum of fine arts. One could not ask for more in terms of an fine hotel in a provincial capital like Rennes.

The only thing about which I would warn the future guests is that the breakfast that is set out every morning is not complimentary. I looked for some sort of cost information either in my room, or in the literature on the hotel I brought with me, but I found nothing. Breakfast, and I had coffee and a couple of croissants with jelly every day, is 20 euros. I only became aware of this upon check out.

Than being said, I still feel that it cannot take away from the overall absolute joy a stay a the Hotel Mercure Rennes Centre Parlemant is.

Very disappointing

I was double charged for my room and have so far have not had a response or refund. The hotel was a building site during my stay with electrical cabling hanging out of the ceiling in front of the elevators. Front desk didn't seem to be able to find me on the computer when I came to check out and took almost half an hour making me late. Not a good advertisement for the brand.

Convenient and Comfortable

City centre hotel, so traffic was busy getting there at rush hour. Easy parking at the hotel. The hotel was undergoing refurbishment so there was no bar or restaurant available so I cannot judge that, but can only commend for making improvements. It was slightly difficult finding somehere mid-range to eat dinner. The room was very comfortable and the lighting in the bathroom was excellent! It was easier to see to do my make-up than any hotel I have stayed in! This was a quick stop over on the way to Spain so we didn't explore the city.

Disappointing Hotel!

The hotel was undergoing renovations in the lobby area. Although my room was located on the 5th floor, I could hear the noise of jackhammers and drills throughout my stat. It sounded and felt like it was coming from inside my room. There were two large dumpsters located in front of the hotel which made it difficult for my taxi driver to locate the hotel. He had to drop me off at the end of the block.

The hotel location was outstanding. You could walk to any part of Rennes with no problem. There were great places to eat right around the corner.

The customer service was subpar, I received a cold reception when I arrived. I was looking forward to having a drink at the bar, but the bar was being used for storage and for employees.

The bed was not very comfortable. It felt like a roll away bed. The bathroom was dated and just not up to a 4-star level.

It was not a very pleasant stay. I even tried to change hotels, but everything around me was sold out. This hotel should be rated as a 2-star and not a 4-star hotel. Not worth the money I paid!

Good value but . . .

Pros: modern, clean, stylish hotel,good value.
Cons: 1) breakfast was 18 euros per person, 2) our room had a low corner jutting into it on one side of the bed such that a moderately tall person would hit their head when getting out of bed, 3) difficult to find, 3) air con didn't work well so opened the window but there was a lot of street noise from bars so had to close the windows and the room was hot.

A very modern hotel a little off the beaten track

The Mecure Rennes is a very modern elegant hotel. The rooms were quite nice and a nice size. We came in very late the first night but the front desk staff was very helpful in checking us in.

I think the hotel caters more to business people because they didn't know much about \"touristy\" things. Everyone was very professional and polite. We did have a slight challenge finding places to eat since nothing was close-by. We could walk to some cafes but not as many as one usually finds in France.

Stayed for an overnight stopover. Room was a decent size, shower was good. Even though our room was non-smoking there was an aroma of smoke. The staff on reception were very helpful. Room was pretty basic, no frills and fairly old-fashioned - could do with a bit of modernisation. Good location, easy reach of cafes, bars and restaurants. If we were to stay longer I would probably look for a hotel with more facilities and less dated.

Probably one of the best mercures I have stayed, really clean, modern inside, friendly staff, also liked the display in reception showing what the building used to be like, and as I was apprenticed in the trade and can remember the type cases etc it was of extra special interest to me, room was next to the lift so expected a lot of noise, but nothing to be heard and had a really good nights sleep, car parking was easy compared to some of these inner city hotels, the breakfast was good as well, with a full buffet of hot and cold food, all in all this would be my hotel of choice for Rennes

I booked this hotel as it was one of the last ones left in Rennes with rooms available. It was very overpriced for the condition of the hotel and its fascilities, however the location is good for wandering around Rennes town centre (including historical sights, galleries, the old town, and 'drink street'). The staff were courteous, and the bed was comfortable. However there are many hotels conveniently located close to Rennes centre that provide better comfort & value for money.

The air-conditioning in the room was a blessing on a very warm summer night and the availability of covered parking in the hotel itself saved us a lot of time finding a parking space on the streets nearby. The hotel was centrally located and the staff were helpful and courteous.

This hotel was excellent value for money .We requested and got garden view and close to lift. Room was spotless and a nice size, bathroom had lovely bath and shower. We had breakfast included which was excellent value for money offering sausage, bacon and eggs, as well as a full range of continental breakfast items, breads and croissants,this was available until 10am, all staff were friendly and courtious.location is excellent for sightseeing and we were given courtisy maps......beds were comfy and air con was good. linen was changed during our stay which was unexpected. One improvement i could think of would be bigger towells for the bath and shower.

Rather apprehensive on arrival at entrance to hotel due to youths hanging around exchanging money, gave us the impression this was not a good area to be staying in. Informed the reception staff. Stayed for two nights (thankfully) as a base to visit Mont St Michel. Our room was NOT like the 'official' pictures. There was no giant R on our walls just a tribute to bad 1980s business chain hotel decorating. Bathroom and wardrobe also need updating. Little extra space was helpful and appreciated given its rare to get it in European hotel rooms. Do not ask front desk about travelling to Mont St Michel - foolish man told us the bus service no longer operated and that we could only get there by train! We caught the bus from the terminal located next to the main railway station without any trouble at all. Didnt have any meals at the hotel so cannot comment on that.

When I checked in, I mentioned that I had booked a 'smoking' room, but reception informed me that the hotel policy was 'non-smoking- since March last. Perhaps better not to offer 'smoking' or 'non-smoking' rooms then! I enjoyed my cigarettes there anyway! (Still not a criminal offence!!) Also, china cups for tea/offee in room would be so nice. Breakfasts were excellent with friendly service also. All staff were so pleasant. Well done!

Nice Hotel in Center of Rennes

THis is a nice hotel centrally located in Rennes. The location is within easy walking distance of the Rennes Railway Station and only two blocks from the Metro. There are several restaurants within easy walking of the hotel. Easy walk to the Rennes Saturday Market and many very nice shops and sites. The staff is quiet and reserved although did assist us when asked. Spoke some English. Facility clean and quiet with rooms larger than any other we experienced on our trip.

I chose Mercure for third time in row because for a french hotel it is surprisingly comfortable and quiet. You can expect fast and reliale internet connection and kettle on room to make you tea or coffee anytime. You can set the temperature for heating and air conditioning and bed is comfortable too.

Quiet location close to the center

The hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of historic Rennes attractions. The hotel has a facade of an old building, but the hotel itself is modern. It even seems that the old facade is offset of the real building by some air gap. The property is not quite new, but very well maintained, rooms are larger than a typical hotels in historic city centers. The price was quite reasonable, making it a good value for the money.

City centre convenience but quiet too

This is a modern no frills hotel and it works. The room we had was plainly decorated and furnished but a good size, the bathroom also larger than most, and well equipped with safe, tea and coffee making equipment, fridge etc. There was enough wardrobe space for a stay of some months! From the window there was a nice view of the garden (fountain, grass, flowers) of the flats to the rear of the hotel.

Reception staff were friendly, spoke excellent English and were efficient. They were very helpful in recommending where to visit and how to get there.

We did not use the restaurant, preferring to go to local coffee shops for breakfast.

Excellent hotel for a sightseeing visit to Rennes

Not having been to Rennes before and only having one night for our visit we booked what we thought would be a central location. We were surprised by the excellent quality of the hotel which was well located and enhanced the experience of our visit to Rennes. We had an excellent evening and following morning walking around a charming town.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rennes and would certainly stay there again on a return visit.

Mercure Rennes Centre Parlement

Very comfortable, clean room, though the A/C was not very good which made sleeping difficult. Very nice staff, very good breakfast, good location, convenient parking.

High end Mercure, very good

This must be a newer type Mercure as it was a much better hotel overall than the 2 earlier Mercures where we stayed. Quite modern, good size room, and comfortable bed, more in the Novotel style. Breakfast was the real surprise with plenty of choice and an operating kitchen preparing hot food (eggs etc) on order. It is well located in the centre of the restaurant / tourist precinct and has onsite parking at 10 Euro. There is street parking out front if you can get a bay for overnight. The only downside is that it was very noisy in the streets (Saturday night) and there is a bar next door that stays open late and is noisy.

Great location

Great central location and helpfull staff. Excellent breakfast selection , the best of our holiday. Perfect stay only marred by noise from bar turning out at 6am on street corner.reccomend room at rear to avoid this.

Good clean hotel in a very central position. Lots of restaurants & bars nearby and easy to walk around. Great shopping too! Car park is underground & secure. Excellent stop over point.

A Good Hotel in the heart of Rennes

This hotel is centrally located and an easy walk to everything in the city - sights, shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. Rennes is an old city and a great photo lies around every corner. Staff were friendly and helpful. Car parking is avaiulable under the hotel - 10 euros per night - but value is still good with that cost added. Good sized and comfortable rooms..

Good Hotel

Only stayed 1 night but hotel staff were courteous and helpful, hotel was comfortable, quiet and in good location. Cannot give info on restaurant and other services as we did not use them (hence only 4 for quality of hotel service). Would use again.

Amazing hotel. Close to everything you need.
Close to the train/bus port. Amazing service. Well worth the price.
Go to Aladdin down the street. By far the best meal I've ever had.
