Although this hotel is officially rated five stars, the experience feels to four stars, and in some areas, not even that.
To start with something positive, the mattress is very comfortable, which made for good sleep quality. However, the pillows were unbearable, too firm and flat (similar to those used in the 90s). When I asked for replacements, the new ones arrived with an unpleasant smell.
The bathroom design is extremely impractical. It’s separated from the bedroom by a transparent glass wall, which already compromises privacy, and the lighting system makes no sense: it’s motion-sensor activated and turns on automatically every time someone walks in. This means that if you use the bathroom in the middle of the night, the entire room lights up, waking up anyone sleeping.
The breakfast was the biggest letdown. It’s not a buffet but a fixed set of items brought to the table, and unfortunately, the quality is poor. The breads were hard and flavorless, the salmon tasted cheap, and the cheeses were dry and unappealing. The pineapple was fresh and good, but that’s about it. For anyone lactose intolerant or with dietary restrictions, the options are almost nonexistent. When I asked for goat or pecorino cheese (in Italy), the waiter said they only had regular cow’s milk cheeses. Considering this is supposed to be a five-star hotel, and breakfast is not cheap, it’s simply unacceptable.

The bed and bedding was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was huge. The lighting was not great in the bathroom but was ok. It would be great for the TV to have the option of changing Italian to English like many 5-star hotels do. Aurelio and Stefania were wonderful, as was Fabio. The front desk attendant in the afternoon was not at all pleasant; I didn’t get his name, but everyone else was wonderfully welcoming.

The hotel is a truly unique experiece, it is a beatiful hotel. Venice Lido with the beach is a perfect break after staying in Venice San Marco (we spent 2 nights in Venice, then 2 nights here on Lido). The hotel has a nice outdoor swimming pool (closes relatively early at 7 pm). The hotel is about 10 min walk to the paid beach (Des Bains), at the reception you can ask for an umbrella rent and towels (all for a reasonable fee), Des Bains feels like a quiet private beach, clean and not crowded at all. The paid beaches close at 7 pm.

My only complaint was that the bar charges for drinks were really random. One time a tea was €5 then it was €8 the same for orange juice, it was like they made up the prices, everything else was perfect!

The hotel is fantastic. The exterior of the property is just amazing with great bars to sit and drink. The roof top bar is just a great additional to watch the sunrise.
Couple of things that dont make it 5 star. I dont mind the bathroom being glass but please dont do that to the toilet too. Not ideal to see your partner there and visa versa.
Secondly just some housekeeping issues not enough towels in bathroom had to keep requesting new ones.

Dont let this put you off the hotel is in a fantastic location. The beds are super comfy and hotels air conditioning is a god send when youve spent all day outside.

A gem of an hotel

A wonderful hotel on The Lido. Perfect for a city/beach break. Lovely staff, a very nice pool area. Although, we preferred the Blue Moon beach club. Water taxis too and from Venice and the airport.

Our only criticism was the pillows were quite hard. Not our choice. Also, their ‘cosy’ cheapest room was roomy and had everything we needed. No need to spend more on a bigger room. We didn’t add breakfast, quite expensive and there are restaurants and cafes around.

Before reading below please understand the staff, location and bar were great. The rooftop bar has a wonderful view and dinner was delicious.

However, we were on the 4th floor and we realized on our first night that the AC did not cool off the room. I am unsure if other rooms on our floor were ever cooler or if other floors have it better but ours did not cool off. At the end of the night we did not look forward to sleep and were left awake by the loud system and awoke sweating each night. On the second night I called the front desk to ask if they were aware of any issues with our system and they said it was running at its max. I explained further that it might be at the max however it wasn’t cooling and it was very hot. I was told by the receptionist that, “that’s just how it is” and my husband decided not to push the situation further. It was not absurdly hot throughout the days max of 74 degrees and lows of 62 degrees however the room felt as though it heated up more around 2 AM - 3 AM. My husband and I both could not figure out why and the AC unit didn’t turn off trying to cool off the room and just not being able to. Opening the windows at night may have helped but there were several mosquitos from the first night in the room as well as opening any window any amount turns off the AC unit.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel for our honeymoon. We were treated like royalty and it was a beautiful experience. The staff is so friendly and helpful. My only regret is having to checkout. Wish we could have stayed longer. We were happy that we chose to stay on Lido island. It was very different from the busy main islands of Venice but also very easy to travel to the main islands to explore. Thank you to all the staff for making our honeymoon magical.

Amazing Hotel; Amazing Location

This is one of the best hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. It is TRULY a luxury hotel with everything anyone could want. And it is a somewhat historic place dating back into the early 1900s. The places is gorgeously decorated outside and inside. The staff is friendly and competent. And the location, on Lido Island, is sublime with restaurants, cafes, and little stores along the street where the hotel is situated. It's expensive, but if you can afford it, then it's worth every penny.

We liked this hotel, they greeted us with a much needed spritz. The location on Lido, away from the hustle and bustle of Venice, was very nice. The ferry and water taxi services made it very easy to come and go as we pleased. There were many dining options in the area, and we ate at the hotel, which was very good. Highly recommend.

Amazing hotel and amazing location. Island of Lido is a secret haven off the busy island of Venice, but only a quick boat ride away. It’s great to come back to the quiet and peaceful island of Lido and the hotel was exceptional for service and the rooftop bar was beautiful.

This is an excellent hotel, originally opened in the early 1900s, and it retains its \"Belle Epoque\" elegance. Rooms have been modernized, and are quiet and comfortable. This property is not oceanfront, but is in the town center, with an easy walk to both the beach and the water buses. Excellent breakfast and staff. Beautiful views from rooftop, and a large swimming pool. Lido is far less crowded than Venice island, yet easy access. Would definitely stay again.

Great stay. Everything about the hotel was very good. My only disappointment was the fitness facilities. There was no functioning air conditioning, which made exercising very uncomfortable. In addition, the equipment was not as shown in photos. There were just two ‘selectable’ dumbbells but the handles were missing, which rendered them completely useless. I like to exercise every day and this was a real let down and would be very, very easy to resolve, along with allowing the air conditioning to be switched on.

The captain in checkbin was absolutely the most helpful person we ever encountered. He was just perfect, patient, and guided us through a difficult situation with the Transit strike. This was a great place for us to stay while visiting Venice. It is a charming building and hotel and our room was very nice - new, clean and modern. It is a very short walk to catch the water taxi to Venice, with many restaurants near and between the hotel and water taxi - perfect. The staff went out of their way to provide a high level of attention and service. They handled the parking of our rental car with no problem, which we did not use while there. I highly recommend the Ausonia Hungaria.

Great escape from Venice. Beautiful hotel and lovely breakfast. My only suggestion is for front staff, no information was given on Venice the near by beach or transportation. We had to ask everything , for example how do we get to the beach, what water bus line do we use to get Venice and how late does it run. Usually this general information is given out at check in.

We loved this experience! An elegant old art nouveau facade with modern interior design and Hollywood touches (Venice Film Festival is conducted down the street). Perfectly situated 3 blocks from beaches and three blocks from all vaporettos to Venice— a gorgeous 5 minutes boat ride away!

This place is amazing. It is super easy to get to the main islands but it gives you a break from the crowds. The hotel was wonderful. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The food was terrific (still dreaming about the breakfasts) and the balcony was a world-beating location for a spritz. We didn’t use the spa because we have a young family but I’m sure that was amazing too. Lido is so relaxing for a walk around.

One of the best check in experiences of my life. The place was spotless, great service and an amazing terrace to have drinks and wind down.

Would recommend this place in a heart beat, it’s better to stay here than the over crowded Venice. You can go into town whenever, just make sure you buy the day pass as it’s much cheaper to travel to and from.

You can't go wrong staying here!

Amazing hotel, amazing staff, close to everything, and super attentive. They started out asking when we'd be arriving and how. They reserved us a parking spot, and sent detailed instructions on what to do. They even translated the ferry website because my phone was having trouble doing it. We spent the night at 4 different hotels on our trip, this by far was the best!

The breakfast in this hotel is 5 star. It is the only breakfast included hotel that has ever been worthit. Multiple platters.
The bathroom is not cool see thru and toilet was with a friend of opposite sex The outside bar also worth it given appetizers free with a drink.
The bed was not good but the chair in room was 5 star.
The day staff was exceptional except on May7 where he would not get a bag we left in room and took too long almost missed travel.
If they changed the glass for bathroom and the mattress it is very 5 star

The service was incredible, they took such good care of us and kept our room tidy with fresh towels and turn down service. The breakfast was sooooo delicious, definitely the best we had in Italy. The rooftop deck was beautiful and quiet. And the location was great, very quick walk to the boat station. Highly recommend that you stay here, you will not regret it!! You will feel very comfortable and well taken care of!
