Staff were amazingly perceptive, courteous and were not over worked. This meant never feeling frantic.

Room was clean, no traffic sound and walls were muffled enough to hardly notice a full family (including kids) staying next door.

Step out and you are on the Lagoon. Owing to the direction the property is facing direct observation of the sun-sets can be seen immediately from the door-step of the entrance. Step out and the silhouettes are of the dark side of the buildings of the lagoon teasing you to walk over the water to meet them.

Civic life, the beach to the east and the boat drop off / pick up point for the rest of Venice is just a short walk (five to ten minutes tops).

This is a gateway to Lido and Venice.

The best thing though... because it initially takes relatively a long time to travel to (from Marco Polo or by train) people this place is based on a long trip for them. Therefore normal 'tourist' foot fall is much smaller. This makes the location better if you want to wake up in peace and venture out in our own time

Very good hotel , location directly near the shore it is almost far from venice center but you can easily use boat 5.1 to arrive , station is 12 minutes walking from hotel , ot is located in Lido , breakfast was good, i recommend it .

10 minute walk from ferry terminal. Hotel staff really friendly. We had an 'economy' room in the attic_(403). Lovely, modern room with great views from windows, nice modern furniture and lovely clean bathroom with w/c bidet, whirlpool bath. A bit low on drawers, but enough for a weeks worth of clothes. Tea/coffee making and fridge. No good for taller people due to the sloping roof, but OK for us (both under 5 feet 8 inches). Only real problem was the heat. It was in the 30's/high 80's and room was so hot and stuffy - air con didn't seem to do anything. It would be fine if not so hot, but it was just unbearable when we went. Had to pay to 'upgrade' to a different room which had a balcony- 120 euros for 4 nights, not as big or nice nor modern with even less storage space. Balcony was nice - overlooking the lagoon, but not really an upgrade - paying extra simply for the balcony. Staff were great - so friendly. Breakfast was OK - we didn't find it anything special though - usual affair of tea, coffee machine, next to useless juice machine for orange juice, mango (I think) and grapefruit (all horrible). Continental was fruit (fresh and tinned) 2 or 3 cereals, pastries, cheese, ham, toast. 'Cooked' consisted of sausages, Bacon and egg. 10 minute walk from town centre with plenty of shops and restaurants/cafes. 10 minutes from fabulous clean beach. Overall, hotel was nice and clean with friendly staff and would recommend and stay again.Not sure why it is classed as 4 stars though.

Lovely hotel, pleseant & helpful staff.

Stayed here for six nights in July, delightful hotel, staff extremely attentive and helpful, could'nt do enough for us, room cleaned daily with fresh towels.
Breakfast was lovely with a wide selection of both cold and hot food which set us up for our days activities.
The hotel overlooks the lagoon towards Venice & is situated 10 mins from the 'Waterbus' terminal, 10mins from the main street (which runs from the terminal down to the public beach) with its mixture of bars, restaurents & shops. Was only a gentle stroll down to the beah *dont go to the main public beach (very crowded), but if you walk down the next street to the hotel & follow it down to the beach side and turn left, right at the end (just passed the beach bar) there is a cut through onto an uncrowded public beach.
The waterbuses running very frequently into Venice (7.5 euros for a single journey but you can buy day passes or longer) - if you want a a tour of the Grand Canel - catch the #1 bus as it travels the full length of the Grand Canel to Piazza Roma.

If it is quality you are looking for ...look no further. Russo Palace located on the lagoon front, offers traditonality, a warm, friendly welcome, spacious rooms and is less than one mile from the main vaporetto stop and the centre. The cake and the lemon water available for all guests in the foyer were an additional complimentary extra - a nice touch. Well done Russo, we will recommend

Very friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfast. We booked a corner balcony room which was fantastic for lagoon views, sunsets and watching the world sail by. Russo Palace was a very welcome retreat from the mayhem of the main islands. Room wasn’t huge and could have done with better air conditioning (heatwave during our stay tho). Would recommend Lido for those wanting a quieter stay but Russo Palace was ideally placed being away from main vaperetto stop and main area which can get very busy and lively especially at night. Just a 10 min stroll or hop on the bus got us to the water busses and night life when we wanted it. Would recommend waterbus (blue line) from airport to the Lido.
Will definitely book again when we next visit Venice.

Good location on Lido Island but it is a 40 minute ferry ride plus the wait time. Is a nice old hotel with a beautiful location by the water. We had a balcony overlooking Venice which was very nice. Breakfast was below average for the hotels we stayed in.

Situated on the Lido this was the perfect base for zipping around the many islands by water bus. And reception were the best asset. They knew every place you might desire to visit. They also knew every shop in which to buy difficult to find items. And often these were on the Lido too. Loved it here

Excellent hotel with an excellent staff. The island of Lido, where the hotel is in, is a quiet slow place, perfect to relax after a day of sight seeing. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable, the bathrooms are normal for the area. I cannot praise the staff enough, they frequently helped us in tight situations, as well as giving us lots of local information about Venice and Lido. There is a great view from the entrance of the hotel and the breakfast bar. Breakfast is cheap, or free if you book through the hotel directly, and satisfying with eggs and pastries and such. The public boat station is a short, pleasant walk along the sea, about 5-10 minutes, depending on how much of a hurry you are in; there you can go to any of the islands. The only issue we encountered was with availability, since the whole island has limited rooms.

Great hotel with a great location

We can thoroughly recommend a stay on the lido at Hotel Russo Palace. The reception staff were excellent throughout our stay and I have to recommend staying in a balcony room as we could see a beautiful vista of Venice from our balcony. Great breakfast selection and then a 5 minute walk to the waterbus stop or turn left and another 5 minute walk to the beach. Really enjoyed popping over to Venice to see the beautiful buildings and scenery which Venice has in abundance but the Lido offers a respite from the crowds and bustle of Venice. I can't recommend this hotel enough and we'll definitely be back!

Quiet hotel and close to beach hotel

We have taken this hotel considering it was on an island. Thot island would be amazing but was a bit quiet. Close to beach (Walk 10mins) and Boat station (walk 10mins) , there are restaurants and supermarket near to Lido boat station so ideal to have dinner when you comeback from venice site seeing.Lido boat station connects to all of the venice like murano,burano,venice,torcello. The receptionist who checked in us was really sweet she did explain in detail of site seeing places. If you want to stay at really quiet place then choose this hotel. Rooms were a bit tiny but can manage as we stayed most of the time outside when on holiday. Breakfast was good. It was a good experience .

Peaceful gem

Brilliantly friendly staff made the stay highly enjoyable. The Hotel is a little off the beaten track (about 600 yards from the Vaporetto stop and the main shopping/restaurant street on the Lido) but, apart from one night when a storm broke, that was in its favour since it meant the surroundng area was really peaceful and quiet. There is no restaurant; again not a problem if you are happy to inlude dinner in your exploration of Venice or as part of an evening stroll.
We were in a downstairs room; comfortble and clean but the ants were occasionally a bit of a nuisance.
Breakfast was great, comfortably kept us going through to dinner time. Would happily go back.

Great service and hotel

My wife and I traveled from America to Venice and stayed at this hotel for 9 days in total. Our time at Russo Palace was very pleasant. The staff spoke fluent English and were able to provide recommendations on how to get to places and what all to visit. The free breakfast every morning saved us quite a bit of money and the breakfast itself was delicious. The hotel itself was about a 10 minute walk from the main boat station. To find the hotel just walk along the side of the road past the first bridge and it is right before the second bridge (big white building, refer to the pictures). Everything inside the hotel feels pretty high class (given its a 4 star hotel). The only down side is the rooms are a bit on the smaller side and when on the ground floor there was a bit of a swampy smell from the bathroom, but I take it this is normal being in the Venice area and is pretty unavoidable.

Super location (Lido) overlooking the lagoon with St Marks in the distance. 20 minute vaporetti ride from the main island but not a problem as so frequent (buy a prepaid pass). Room very clean, comfortable, light and spacious and had wifi, safe, mini bar, complimentary guest toiletries, lots of towels. Balcony with chairs, cushions and table. Extensive choice, help yourself buffet breakfast, hot food, cold meats/cheese, pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and all drinks available.

Beautiful hotel amazing views

Me and my partner went for a few days and felt it was the perfect hotel, staff were very friendly and welcoming! Room was lovely had all facilities we needed, the balcony had some beautiful views over the water. Hotel didn't have a restaurant however you could go to there sister hotel 10 minutes away which done lovely food and we received 10% off. Even though it wasn't in Venice city we felt this worked well for us as was only a 10min boat ride away and so easy to get to. All in all a wonderful break away.

Lovely hotel, horrible bed

This hotel has a beautiful view, lovely terrace and great breakfast BUT the absolute worst, most uncomfortable bed we have EVER slept on. And we travel the world on a very large scale. I have slept better on an uncomfortable pull out sofa. The mattress felt as hard as a block of wood or concrete. Truthfully...I have bruises on my elbows as a result. Everything else about the hotel is wonderful but having a comfortable bed is the main reason you stay, right? For a good night's sleep. Well, not here. We were just thankful we only had to spend two nights as neither Of us could sleep. I can't speak for all of the rooms, but the bed in 303 was horrible. I have to wonder if the owners have ever tried to sleep on this mattress to understand what their guests must tolerate. Would never go back for this specific reason. It's a shame because the rest of the hotel is great.

Lido Relaxing Stay

We love staying at the Lido when we are in Venice - it's only a short ferry ride to San Marco and also from Burano and Murano. What we like best is that it is a relaxed and friendly place to stay away from the hustle and bustle, where many people ride bikes, transport is very good, cars stop at the pedestrian crossing and we can observe life of residents having their passeggiata with their elder folk, children or dogs. Likewise we enjoyed the welcoming and helpful nature of the staff at Hotel Russo Palace. The room was comfortable and we had pleasant water views from our bedroom window and from the breakfast room. It was a short 10 min walk from the ferry along the path next to the water's edge - safe and well lit to walk even later in the evening.

Clean room, but don't get stuck in the attic rooms (I think there are 3). We treated it as an experience although many would have complained-- given that you have to bend over to take a shower or walkabout freely in the room. The staff is exceptionally friendly and informative. Hotel is 10min walk to main transport hub. It's very quiet and safe. I would come back as long as my room is different (not in the attic). Beach is near but make sure you are in season to fully enjoy.

Dungeons, Drain Flies and Centipedes

DON'T stay here unless you're less than 2 feet tall or like sleeping with centipedes.

Our 4th floor room was an attic with a vaulted ceiling that angles down to 3ft. The bed is only accessible from one side. If you placed your head in the skylight on the other side you might able sit up. The bathtub was impractical with broken shower head.

We moved to the 1st floor the next day and within minutes found a centipede on the wall and15 flies. We asked for a broom to get rid of the centipede. Later in the day the receptionist said she gave us something to control the bugs. We never complained about the drain flies so she must have noticed a problem.

That night we spent 2 hrs catching 6 centipedes in our room. 2 came from throw pillows. We asked reception for a new room or hotel but there supposedly weren't any hotels with open rooms and if we wanted leave we would have to pay for transportation and both hotels.

The next morning we went to reception to tell them about the bug problem. We barely said anything before the woman apologized and said they didn't put the bugs in the room on purpose so we should just go about our day and forget it. She added that she often goes on vacation with her children and sometimes things happen, so she tries to make the best of everything and not start a war. Adding, a few euros isn't going to make anything go away so we should just go enjoy the day because more we talk the less time we have.

A little gem!

Perfect getaway from the crowds. Hotel was everything you needed for a relaxing break. Pay for upgrade for a lido view, worth every penny. Enjoyed watching the sunsets and the cruise ships sailing past the balcony. Highly recommended!

We had absolutely no problems whatsoever with this hotel and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality considering the low price. The décor of the room was pleasant and flawless, unlike many of the Venice hotels I've stayed in. The breakfast buffet was delicious too. And to finish all this off, the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful.

In terms of location, the hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the Lido waterbus stop, then a boat takes around 15 mins to get into Venice. We didn't find this a problem at all - we knew this was going to be the case so had pre-booked transport tickets to save money. The surrounding Lido is pleasant and worth an explore in a spare couple of hours.

In conclusion, I would book this again due to the fantastic quality of the hotel, despite the trade-off of not being in Venice itself.

Very nice hotel

We loved staying on the island of Lido! You need to take a water is from Venice to get there. From the train station, a boat ride takes 45 minutes but has beautiful views along the way. Hotel is an EASY walk from the boat dock. The room was very clean and the breakfast was plentiful. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

Good option, great staff, quiet neighborhood

If you're looking for a hotel where the action is, go elsewhere. The hotel is on the Lido, which is about a 10-15 minute waterbus ride away from Venice. However, if you're looking for a place on the Lido, this is a well-priced option. The staff was great with handling/recommending dinner reservations, even during an insane Carnevale weekend. The doors are a little thin and since the building is old, the soundproofing needs improvement. The quarters are cramped, but the room comes with breakfast. If we wanted to stay on the Lido again, this would be a good option, but next time I think we'll opt for a place closer to the action. Recommended.

A good Hotel on the Lido - Quiet location.

Located on the Lido I would recommend this hotel if you require a little piece and quiet after the busy day's in Venice, facility's good, staff very friendly and very helpful. I requested flowers for the room as it was one of my wife's special birthday's, and yes they ordered exactly as requested, can't ask for more.
Rooms are a little on the small side but in line with most European hotels of this standard so wasn't a surprise or a problem, room and bathroom was cleaned every day with fresh towels supplied each day.
Buffet breakfast had various options to suit most peoples taste but It was a surprise to see sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs available, must have been put on to satisfy us Brits!
We stayed during late September so the Lido is probably quieter at that time however we felt very safe walking around late at night back to the hotel but taxis are available if you feel a little vulnerable. Restaurants and coffee bars are located in the main commercial area close to the Waterbus stations and tend to be slightly cheaper than in Venice.
We had a water taxi (think luxury speed boat!) from the airport to the hotel and back again, quite an experience, a little costly but well worth it, a lot quicker and less hassle than the Waterbus.
Venice was very busy during the day time, St Marks Square at night is a must, fantastic atmosphere.
All in all we had a great time in Venice, it can be a little expensive so don't ponder over the bills to much, just pay up with a smile!

Great location in beautiful Lido

We enjoyed our stay here. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great - view of the lagoon and St Marks and the mountains (on a clear day). Wifi was a bit weak, and the spa is not next door (as advertised - it's on the Main Street beside the hotel's associated property) - but these two things didn't distract from our enjoyment during our stay.

Very pleasant.

Friendly reception very helpful. Hotel has pleasant views and is about ten minute walk to main water bus terminal to take you any direction.
We used the spa one day. Good saunas but relaxation area noisy and small.
Some lovely restaurants close by and cheaper than in Venice.

We stayed here for four nights in October. The hotel staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Assisted in booking tickets for the opera. The rooms were clean and comfortable- good shower, light and airy rooms with windows you could open wide. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of choice for breakfast.Spa at hotel nearby which we used while we were there.

Good pleasant pick

Nice staff. Nice location. We booked two nights at Russo hotel on Lido strip and two nights in the very center of Venice. This is a good balance. Lido is a bit further but it feels more local and is more relaxing too, it gave us a taste of Dolce Vita.

We didn't see it on the hotel description but they offered us a taxi boat ride to Murano with another couple for free. The boat ride was very pleasant, they dropped us in a glass blowing factory shop, the glass making demonstration was nice and there was very little pressure to buy.

Internet was free for 20 minutes/day but a bit slow like everywhere in Venice.

So in short a good pick, good value for money.

10 minutes by boat , quiete and peaceful. Lovely staff who spoke excellent English. Breakfast lovely fresh pastries baked every day, and cooked bacon and eggs everything you would possibly want ! Lido very exclusive 7 minute walk to centre and boat terminal but restaurant and supermarket less than 5 minutes away Serb hotel would stay here again

A happy discovery

We have visited Venice many times and stayed on the main island and at Jesolo Lido, but never before on the Venice Lido. What a pleasant place it is, and we only booked the day before we went, because of a change of plan caused by French air traffic controllers strike.It is like being on one of the Italian Lakes with art and history just across the water and interesting 19th and early 20th century local villa architecture all around - including the hotel. Beaches on the seaward side for those who want them.
Hotel is 2 bus stops or 10 minute walk from vaparetto, view over lagoon, pleasant neighbourhood, efficient reception, smallish room with good corner balcony, firm mattress on large double bed, short on clothes space, good ensuite, good air conditioning but only runs when switch says \"off\", normal safe deposit - key from reception, no noise, good breakfast selection, supermarkets & eating places in main street 10 minutes walk, taxis easilly available, buses every twenty minutes.
We would definitely consider staying here again.

Cool hotel on lido island. Just outside of Venice but only like a 15 minute boat ride. Super nice staff. A little religious I think with the cross above the bed and I thought there would be a sauna... Might have been one somewhere but I couldn't find it. Didn't really look to hard or ask anyone though

Cheap on everything. Nickel and dimed us on extra room charges, wi-fi charged, and charged us municipal tourist charge on kid under 17, although by law should not have. No gym and the breakfast was cheap. Coffee served via electronic dispenser.

My husband and I were placed in room 413, the smallest room in the world. My husband is 6'5\" and could not stand up straight anywhere in our room. We did not even have a shower, there was a bath tub with a shower faucet you had to sit in to use because the roof was slanted. what a NIGHTMARE. Ridiculous that we paid so much and got so little

my email, on the day going, asking for transport info for an after midnight arrival was answered immediately and helpfully. This set the tone for a holiday mixing Venice and beach. I thought a hotel on the lagoon would not be as good as on the sea but actually I prefered eating breakfast on the terrace with views of venice across the lagoon. 5 mins to the beach was fine, less than 10 mins to the vaporetto to Venice along the waterfront gave a nice separation from the bustle of the ferry and main street.

Our triple room (Martina) was fine if a little small, but would have been a large double. It had with loads of storage and a small but perfect bathroom, fully kitted out. My 19 and 21 year old daughters walked in and straight away checked out the bathroom as great/modern/clean!

At 32 degrees the a/c was appreciated!

Most of all the staff were both very pleasant at all times and extremely helpful. No question was too difficult to answer/resolve. They enthusiastically did our departure flight check-in on line after midnight!

My previous trips to Venice have always stayed in Venice itself. Lido was my compromise to provide my daughters with some beach time as well as satisfying my wish to share my love of Venice with them. The Lido, and Russo Palace provided this perfectly. We did split days, beach and venice, being only 15 mins away by vaporetto. Lido was a nice relief from the August throng of Venice. The clientele were mainly couples or small family groups like ours. I didnt see any young children.
The hotel seems to have bikes which we didnt realise before, and if you want to take up the umbrella/sun loungers they have reserved on the beach you should book before you go. That said they were always available on the public beach too.

Very pleasant hotel

On arrival at the ideally situated Russo Palace we were greeted by pleasant and curtious staff and our first impressions were very good. Our room, however was in the attic, a lovely room but the ceilings were very low and we had to be very careful not to bump our heads! The breakfast menu was super, a good variety of fresh, satisfying food which we thoroughly enjoyed eating outside whilst taking in the magnificent views. Top marks for cleanliness too. Overall we would rate this hotel 4/5 but if we stayed again in the future we would get a better room.

Far Away, Unhelpful Staff

For the same price we could have booked a hotel opposite the boat stop rather than this one a 20 minute walk away. We chose this one as it was described as having a jetted bath and courtyard view, but were given a ground floor room with a wobbly shower no bath and a view of bars over the window looking onto the road. When we complained to the staff they refused to comment on the description obtained from this website and rather kept referencing expedia which i assume must be the parent company of this website. We were then made to wait for 1.5 hours while the woman at the desk tried to find us a better room but it appeared that she was just waiting for a colleague to support what she was saying. They then would talk to each other in Italian which felt a bit rude. When they finally decided to tell us there was no chance of a different room (even though they had said there were empty rooms) they didn't offer us any upgrade or even an hour of free internet or anything to compensate so wasted one and a half hours of our holiday. On closer inspection the room had chunks of plaster missing, a wobbly shower, with a lot of dirt in between the tiles (clearly hadn't been cleaned for months) and the air conditioning had cables visible! A danger if taking children. I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel.

Whoever gave this hotel 4 stars was definately on the take. Every room in a 4 star hotel should be for 4 star quality. First off, I got the attic room that everyone talks about, which I do not mind because I am short. What really bothered me was the fact the AC was a tiny box in a corner that could only cool off 3 feet in front of it. Cold AC is a standard of a 4 star hotel. Plus the bed sheets weren't very soft and ofcourse the headroom was not there for most people. My room looked nothing like the pictures. On the plus side we had a jacuzzi style tub, but don't try to stand or you will hit your head. The breakfast was good and the staff was nice. It is also well situated if you want to go to th beach. I have been to 3 star hotels in third world countries that are better than this one. This hotel is 2 star at best at a 3 star price
