The hotel is very old and the entire hotel smells very badly. There are no elevators so you have to climb multiple stairs to get to your room. The restaurant tables are very old and dirty. The breakfast was not very good, the scrambled eggs and fruits were obviously leftovers from the day before. You have to order coffee or tea every time and the servers will say things in Italian which didn't seem very nice.
Some might like the atmosphere, but I wouldn't recommend it.

This property is in a very quiet location on Lido Beach, far away from the craziness of Venice and its tourists. The property location is very convenient, close to the beach, bus stop and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good, however, they should keep all food items stocked until the closing time of 10 AM and not have them run empty before that. The room was nice, cute and clean, and it was a very comfortable stay for us. Will definitely recommend this!

This should be your choice when going to Venice. Yes, it’s on the Lido, but this is what makes it the perfect choice. Easy water bus back and forth and this property is a gem.
If you value beauty,( the gardens are spectacular), hospitality, the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Special thanks to Lorenza for her recommendations on dinners. Bountiful breakfast buffet, and outdoor spaces for a relaxing glass of wine or cocktail. If we are fortunate enough to visit Venice again we will surely stay here. The woman who owns the property is also the mentor of the beautiful surroundings and decor.

The Quattro Fontane is simply the best hotel in the Lido. We keep coming back to it each year. It's a charming hotel, all the rooms are unique and beautiful. Wonderful staff, they can help book a beach hut, the ferry to Venice. Breakfast is very nice, especially nice breakfast area outside under the large trees. Highly recommended. Best value on the island. Free parking on site.

A nice quiet place to stay in Venice

The hotel is in an interesting centuries-old complex of buildings with old-fashioned decorations in the local style, but also adorned with interesting contemporary art. (Our room had a Murano glass chandelier.)

It's a short walk to the beach and a 15 minute walk to the ferry to Venice. They have bikes to rent for 5 euros a day---a bit much to ask for bikes they've put zero effort into maintaining. Why not just make them free? With a bike, you can nicely explore the rest of Lido.

The beds were comfortable, but nothing special. The room was clean. Breakfast was nice and could be had in a green courtyard. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Bathroom was tiny.
Shower cubicle was so small that when I moved the shower controls caught my body. Super hot, ice cold or no water shower resulted. I’m not a big person either.

Air con could do with a boost.

Barring these minor points, the hotel had a lovely character and the staff were very good.

Unique hotel

This is a boutique hotel and is something that you will remember.
A 20 minute transfer from the train station but the water taxi ride is an experience in itself.
A 10 minute ride to the main island for 7.50 is a local delight.
The hotel itself you have to see for yourself and it will not disappoint.
Good selection for breakfast and complimentary transfer to Murano.
A step back in time!!

Real close to the beach. Walking distance snack. As for the property itself, my wife and I enjoyed the quality of mattress, the sheets, lack of noise, the bathtub, the spacious room. The staff was eager to help and engaging.
I didn’t like that there was no elevator (but that’s because I have a condition). The lack of elevator was mentioned on Expedia though.

Great location for Lido, easy access back to the S.M.E Vaporetto stop by bus or 10/15 mins walk. Breakfast is lovely, lots of choice for all tastes and the staff serving are welcoming and happy to help.
Our triple room was perfectly adequate but due to the unique nature of the room’s architecture it was hard to stand up straight due to the sloped roof and the shower (over bath) was positioned under a slope making it impossible to stand straight when showering. Also no curtain for shower so it created a v soggy bathroom! The cleaning staff visited daily to replace towels, bath mat and bed linen so wasn’t an issue for long! ... All that said, the reception, serving team and house keeping staff were all lovely...

Lovely old building in Lido, the artefacts in the historic building are wonderful and nicely presented. Very friendly staff and nice breakfast buffet in the mornings. For fit people it is ok to be on the fourth floor. Should someone have problems to climb 4 flights, make sure you book a room on first floor; it was a bit tough for my 80-year old mother. Next time we go to Venice we will stay in this hotel again, if possible. It is pleasant to be in Lido instead in the midst of crowded Venice. This was the first time for us in Lido, we loved it.

The room was not a Superior Double as booked. In fact it was two single beds pushed together and did not live up to the 4* ratings I was expecting. Breakfast on the 2nd morning was cold which included the fried food and scrambled eggs. The room windows did not fully close which meant the room was open to the elements and led to me being bitten numerous times by insects that made it into the room from nearby planting. The staff also insisted I had something from the mini bar and insinuated i wasn't being honest as I left and refused to pay the 10 euro fee. The hotel is in need of modernisation across the board, the TV's were not wall mounted, light switches were positioned awkwardly, shower curtains did not function, towels were rough, no iron was available after 5pm, no body wash provided (only soap) so there was much that needs to be addressed to bring the hotel to what I would consider a 4* establishment.

Just what we were looking for, an amazing relaxing vacation in a quiet villa 1 block away from the beach in a park like setting. Breakfast was superb. Hotel helped us with arranging the transportation from and to the airport. Had a dinner one night downstairs and it was the best thin crust pizza in Venice (and we ate a lot of pizza and are from New York). The downsides were somewhat weak AC and no gym, but they made up for it with a clay tennis court.

A hotel with a nice and friendly atmosphere (garden and lobby), rooms maybe a bit below expectations but it was clean and no major issues. Very close to the beach but it seems that the beach is \"private\" unless you rent a small wooden house for 100 euros/day (crazy idea), therefore you might want to walk 10 minutes to reach public part of the beach. Breakfast was good and again in very pleasant atmosphere.

Probably the most charming old style hotel in the Lido of Venice. Close to Casino (so have access to boat-taxi if needed), they have own beach cabanas that you can rent from them. The air conditioner worked great, as well as internet. Very nice personnel and breakfast. We go every year and always stay at the Quattro Fontane.

We loved the location. It was away from the bustle of old Venice in a comfortable, safe bike friendly area. Bikes were available to borrow from the hotel, and the main drag was a short 8 minute ride away. We even rode the bikes at night.
The hotel itself was beautifully furnished with antiques and artwork for great ambiance. The water bus station provided travel to all areas.

Delightful hotel in the grand style

Although the hotel is certainly not cheap (it is reasonable by Venice standards) it is old and charming, a real hotel in the grand manner. I could only ask for the mattress to be a bit less lumpy. The room furnishings were historic and beautiful, breakfast was to die for, the room was large and airy. Staff were very cordial.

Fantastic Spot for Venturing Around Venice!!

I am almost hesitant to mention how amazing this place is as I don't want to let the secret out. Wonderfully charming and comfortable, this period auberge-like hotel is perfectly situated to enjoy every aspect of Venice and the surrounding islands. The hotel decor is a pleasing step back in time and the beautiful gardens are a perfect place to sip your coffee. The beach is one block over and the water bus, a 10 minute walk. You can catch a private water taxi 50 ft from the hotel if you are willing to pay for it. The downtown area of Lido is lovely and less the crowds. Bike the island or walk to the beaches...
This is a great place to escape the hectic Venice crowds.

On the Lido I've stayed at the Excelsior, and The Rigel - which are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Quatro Fontane is right in the middle. As the pictures show there's plenty of kitch objects around the place. The room was tiny and all rooms have the option to smoke in. I wouldn't return.

Away from hustle and bustle but near Lido beaches

Stayed 2 nights after a cruise it was charming and relaxing, and still within reach of Venice activities. There are 2 buildings, an historical one 300 years old and \"newer\" one hinting of Swiss influence from 1964. No 2 rooms are the same. If you appreciate eclectic you will enjoy it. It is close to the Excelsior and many pubic beach access points.

Access to Lido from Venice by ferry or hop-on-hop off is quick but a 24 or 48 hour ferry pass is best if going back and forth. It takes 15 minutes to walk from the ferry terminal or a 15 euro cab. Private water taxi may be possible to the adjacent Lido Casino stop (less than 100 meters away).

We had booked a tour to Murano-Burano ahead of time that we could not cancel so we missed out when the front desk offered to take us on Saturday morning to Murano in their private boat then on to San Marco from right next to the hotel which would have been fantastic. You should ask when booking as it may be done only on occasion.

The little downtown of Lido offers a few shops, cafes and restaurants with a relaxed vibe. Nice if you have a few extra days to spend in the area.

My wife and I stayed at the Albergo during the Redeemer Festival. We found that our hotel was the perfect getaway from the hustle in Venice. Highly recommend for families or couples. Great breakfast, friendly staff, and lovely location.

If you travel to Venice, stay on Lido, at this hotel! Beautiful location, in nice quiet neighborhood on Lido. 5 minute walk to bus then quick ride to waterbus for a quick ride to Venice...or just 5 minute walk to beautiful sandy beach on Lido. Lovely hotel full of antiques, great rooms, great staff and wonderful breakfast. Ask th Concierge for a free private run from the hotel dock to the island of Morano to see the glass factory. Absolutely wonderful staff. I can't say enough about this great place!

The Lido island has a beautiful beach but 45 minute ride so not convenient for tourist. Old hotel sort of interesting but out of the 60's. No elevator. Uncomfortable bed. Staff was nice. Italians staying there liked it but there for vacation, not to see the sights. Again a long boat ride to main area of Venice. Do not understand the 4.5 rating.

Very good option in Lido

I was looking for a hotel in Lido to avoid crouds of San Marco and I was very satisfied with my stay. If you do not want spend your day on the feet, choose Lido as you your base and Albergo as you temporary home.

Staff was very welcoming, hotel was just in front of very good beach, my triple room was spacious enough and it was very clean. It was 1.5 km from vaporetto station. You may either walk or take a cab (8 EUR fix rate).

If you rent a cabin on the beach, ask if they discount for those staying in the hotel. Excelsior's beach offerred my 30-50% discount.

Breakfast was OK. Few cereals, ham and cheese, scrumbled eggs. Dinner in the hotel's restaurant was very good.

Hotel offers free boats to Murano but it is not a taxi. They bring you to the glass factory shop. Believe me local guys know how to sell you what you do not need.

Hotel may also offer you a taxi boat transfer to the airport. It could be 30 EUR dearer than if you rent a boat from the Lido main dock, but it would be exactly when you need it and just within 50 m from the hotel.

Overall very good hotel and I highly recommend it.

Old fashioned, a trifle tired, which was fine.

We had a top floor room, and there is no lift, and all those stairs are tough if you are late seventies and overweight. There are book collections in several languages on each floor available to borrow, which was a very welcome feature, as was the slightly dotty decor in parts.

There was an elegant tennis court, but without nets, and access to a private beach .
Good breakfast selection, and friendly helpful staff. Good location, very close to beach, in up-market area. We enjoyed our stay here and hope to come again.

A 5 DAY EXPERIENCE OF VENICE

The room was clean and we were given clean towels every day even though we did not demand them. The hotel restaurant provided good food at similar cost to local restaurants and the service was friendly. Personally, I found the single beds slightly too narrow and was conscious of my concern about sliding out. The experience was a gift from my children for our 70th Birthdays and we have enjoyed every moment. The hotel had the normal amenities concerning room service and a good en suite bathroom etc. We did not use the room service so cannot comment on this facility nor did we use the drinks cabinet. The location was a delight and the hotel had character which we loved. Public transport was excellent and close to the hotel.

Not 4 star. Over rated and over priced.

Sorry but this is not a 4 star hotel. Service and facilities not up to standard. For example our twin room was not ready when we entered -the cleaner had to be called to make up a bed. However it was very clean. Only 2 thin towels. Hand towels were thin linen serviettes. No good to wrap round wet hair while you dry off and dress. Metal spring beds squeaky and pillows VERY hard. Next day chocs and 2 mats appeared by our beds - why weren't they there the previous day? Noise travelled easily from corridor so neighbours woke us regularly. Buffet Breakfast ok but not 4 star- we arrived at 9.30 so not late, but no scrambled eggs left and no offer to make more. Another morning and no table available/laid -had to scavenge around other used tables for knives and wait for a good 15 minutes before being asked if we wanted coffee. no info book about hotel facilities or local amenities in bedroom so we had to ask at reception - staff not necessarily there and not overly friendly or helpful. E.g. I asked about the beach and facilities there, but was not asked if i needed beach towels which I later found out we could have had - where was the 4 star service? Wifi poor - only 1 of us could use it at a time for 2 iphones and kept cutting off. Decor strange to say the least. Scary puppets and weapons on the walls! Maybe 4 star rating is because of location - its a nice 15 minute walk to Lido town by canal and few minutes from gorgeous beach. All in all can't recommend this hotel, as a 4 star.

Hotel was very cozy! Staff was helpful and kind. They gave us a pretty big room with 2 bedrooms and one bathroom was just the two of us! Everything was very clean and the hotel had a lot of character! The downside for us was location, it seemed far away from San Marco and the water taxi at first wanted to charge us 100 euros to get to the hotel but then we found another taxi that charged 7 euros per person! This is a good hotel if you want to be away from everything and quiet area! It is in the island of Lido!

An oasis of calm away from the hubbub of Venice

The staff were lovely, and very helpful. Their English was very good at reception - don't believe previous reviewers about this. Breakfast was excellent. We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening, but found local places - in particular one bar/trattoria nearby. Bar Restaurant Trento. Turn right out of the hotel, left at the main road, and it's about 200 yards on the right. Small, local, is used by local people. They have an A la Carte menu, but also a 'Menu del Giorno' at 15euros. This is recited by the owner or his wife, (not written down) and varies daily. Excellent food, and they have won places in a newspaper competition by La Gazetta. If you speak Italian, it helps, as they don't have much English. Buy the house wine by the caraffa, and enjoy!
I would definitely return to this hotel. Lido is a better place to stay when visiting Venice. A tranquil environment.
We rented bikes from the hotel, with no fuss whatsoever, and kept our room until our departure with no added cost.

Delightful hotel with hidden treasures

The hotel was a 500 year old Swiss Chalet with added annexe. Both buildings were spotless and filled with the most amazing and unusual artefacts; paintings, artworks, marionettes and beautiful pottery. The gardens were well kept with an ancient tree in the middle.. Plenty of seating outside of all descriptions, even a reading room within the gardens.
The charming staff were obviously proud of their hotel, and enjoyed working there. A large dining room served an excellent and extensive buffet breakfast with smiling ladies serving wonderful coffee.

Service was very good. We had a great dinner the first night. Overcharged on the bar bill. They charge you to use their very old bikes. The room was clean however the walls let surrounding noises in.

Great Hotel for Venice Convention Center

This hotel is right across the street from the Venice Convention Center. The breakfast and internet were great. Staff were very helpful. It was a bit of a walk into center of Lido for restaurants, although there was a fairly nice one just up the street.

The hotel was fab just what we wanted. Very clean and efficent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice to be away from the hetic city at the end of the day. About 20 mins walk from boat to Venice but that was fine with us. Nice beach 2 mins away. Loved the Lido.

Great for couples and families with little kids

Quattro Fontane, thanks to it's staff, creates the atmosphere of a home. The location is excellent both for access to the sea and for access to public transport (including an hourly boat service to Marco Polo airport). Very good restaurant for lunches and dinners (albeit not cheap), reasonable breakfast, cosy own territory dominated by 180 years old tree. Rooms are small. Quality of laundry service and room cleaning is impeccable. Good own tennis court (best to take your own rackets). We stayed for 20 days with two children and were very happy with the hotel. When the little child caught a virus, the hotel staff went out of their way to help.

The location could be a bit boring for teenage children. For couples of any age and for families with little kids the place is great.

Albergo Quattro Fontane Venezia

The hotel is quiet, extremely clean, with big clean rooms. The surrounding gardens and dining area's were wonderful. We were in Venice during the summer and could not believe the crowds, (especially from the 4 cruise ships. We were extremely glad to be out on the Lido. The Albergo is short distance form most of the restaurants on the Lido, but there was only 1 other restaurant close by.

Quattro Fontane, heaven..

The pictures and website of this hotel don't do it justice. It's an amazing hotel with character in every corner. A beautiful garden and friendly, helpful staff.

I stayed there for 5 nights with my wife and two young kids. Staying in the Lido was far better than the humidity and inconvenience of staying anywhere in Venice. The hotel was 5mins from the beach; great for the kids. I could easily make this hotel/destination an annual occurrence.

Great hotel for sightseeing Venice with children

I really liked this hotel- full of character, lovely rooms- we had two connecting double bedrooms for 3 adults and 2 children. Though there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room I didn't really miss this. Breakfast was great, staff were very helpful and very welcoming to my children (3 and 7). It was easy enough to get to- from the airport we bought return tickets for Alilaguna and took the blue line waterbus to Lido SME (red line to Lido Casino wasn't running), and then hopped on to a bus (lines A B or C) and got off at the 3rd stop which was a stone's throw from the road the hotel is on- cross over at the zebra crossing, take the 1st left, keep walking down the road until the hotel is on your left. We also purchased 72 hour passes for the waterbus which enabled us to travel freely from the Lido on the waterbus to San Marco/Rialto/San Stae/etc and also took care of the bus ride to and from the Lido station to the hotel. A really peaceful setting- a lovely retreat after a busy day sightseeing. Restuarants on the Lido fill up really quickly in the evenings so get to one by around 6.30pm or you'll be waiting 'til 9pm!

The Cottage

We were greeted in a professional manner on arriaval and taken directly to our rooms with a porter, apart from the staff having very little English they smiled quite alot and made us feel very comfortable. the hotel itself was very Rustic and dated but overall very clean and interesting. There are many antiques inside the hotel including a Granfather clock which was very interesting. We felt taht we were in a giant beautiful cottage with lots of different areas to see and sit including a small library and separate receptions areas which were quiet and again lots of art and antiques. there was a very large Barbeque area with a large chimminy...................! The bedrooms were good sizes and the bathrooms were comfortable, fresh towels were provided whenever needed.

Loved everything about this hotel except for the location. It was a 20-min. walk to the water bus station, so for us it was not convenient enough due to the amount of trips we took into Venice. We did take a cab a couple of times and it cost about 12 Euro one-way. Other than location, this hotel was extremely charming, very well-maintained, wonderful staff and great breakfast. If convenience to Venice isn't your main priority, then I would definitely recommend this hotel

Family with small Kids

I stayed with my family with 2 small kid’s age 8 and 2 respectively. The hotel is very neat, rooms are of good size, hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is easily accessible from Lido water boat stop. You can either take a bus (A) or walk. There are other buses (V) from Lido which takes to the other side of the hotel. St Mark Square was just 20 minutes from the Lido stop. We are Vegetarians, and the hotel restaurant staffs were helpful to make vegetarian dish. The cost of the food is bit on the higher side, but worth for the service and ambience of the restaurant. From Marco-Polo airport it would take around 1 hour 15 minutes to reach the hotel. Take Bus No 5 from Airport to Pl Roma and from Pl Roma take 5.2 (1/2 hour) to Lido. From Lido Bus stop, take Bus A to the hotel; inform the driver that you need to get down at “Quattro Fontane”. Route 1 will also take to Lido but will take a longer route (1 hour). If you want to enjoy a long ride along with all the tourist attractions take Route No 1. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel and will recommend for anyone travelling with Small Kids.

Wonderful Home Base for family trip to Venice

We thoroughly enjoyed this unique Lido hotel. The bar
off the lobby was great, a nice place to sit for a glass of wine or a nightcap.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and we loved our room. We were traveling with our son and
he had a separate room. The bed pillows however, were flat and extremely hard.If you are looking for a quiet spot, this is the place to go. It was too early for the beach, but we were told it's beautiful, and very close.
Venice is about 15 min. by water taxi, once you get to the station after about a 15 min. walk. If you take a
bus, it's quicker. Marco Polo airport is a 45-60 min.

Hotel Quattro Fontaine on Lido in Venice

A magnificent historic country estate converted to a lovely hotel. We have stayed here twice and have been most happy with our accommodations. One drawback as we are in our 70's, there is no elevator. The hotel sits on a corner where the bus stops. One can ride to the vaporetto (water launch) to make the short trip into San Marco Square or to anyplace in Venice. It's a fun mode of transport. The hotel staff is very helpful. A lovely breakfast is served each a.m.

Quiet off the beaten path

A nice little hotel. Roughly a 15 minute walk from the Vaporetto station, and a 10 to 15 euro cab ride. The staff is friendly and helpful (carried my very heavy bag up 4 flights of stairs), and were available for questions whenever needed. If you need something outside of the main thoroughfare this is a good bet. The food in the establishment is a tad overpriced, especially the breakfast.

Fabulous Hotel in Venice Lido

This was my second stay at this wonderful hotel on the Lido of Venice. The hotel is comprised of two buildings on the same property. This time I obtained a room in the second building (not the main building), and I was not disappointed. The room with a queen bed was quite large, and the bathroom was just as large as the bedroom. Plenty of storage space for luggage! The bedroom faced onto the property's garden/patio, which is beautifully landscaped with gorgeous flowers. The breakfast is excellent. Only 1 block from the beach, and in a very quiet residential neighborhood. The weekly HelloVenezia transport card includes unlimited trips on the Venice vaporettos (the water buses) and on the Lido buses, so it was quick and easy traveling to/from the sites of Venice.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. One late night, I was hoping to get a simple sandwich. The concierge quickly offered the keys to the free bicycles owned by the hotel (we had no idea this was included in the price of our hotel stay), and suggested we pedal into the main restaurant strip of Lido. After a five minute trip to the center of Lido, I was enjoying my prosciutto and mozzarella panino!

I will no doubt stay a 3rd time in this great hotel whenever I return to Venice.

Albergo Quattro Fontane Venezia

Our stay at Quattro Fontane was fabulous. The employees were very professional and they made sure we were well taken care of. The breakfasts were very nice and the whole atmosphere was very quaint and quiet. The hotel is surrounded by gardens and patios with a lot of outdoor seating.
The pillows in our room were a little flat but I can't think of one other complaint. We extended our stay because we liked it so well. It is easy to get to, but located in a quiet spot. Mossimo, the hotel manager suggested we take a tour of Murano and brought us to the boat taxi and we had a great afternoon there watching a glass blowing demonstration and shopping. Mossimo and his staff took great care of us.

We loved this hotel! It was so cute and so Italian. They served breakfast every morning and it was delicious. You should realize this hotel is located on the Isle of Lido. San Marco Square is about a 10 min water-bus ride. We liked Lido better than Venice. It was a wonderful stay!

Strong as the weakest Link

They say that a team is only as strong as its weakest member - our stay here proved this to me..

There is a load of good stuff. It is a wonderful location - right next to the Lido with a water bus stop within 2 minutes walk. The setting is much better than we had hoped for spacious, well maintained rooms and beautiful garden areas.

However the service can be a real mixed bag. There are some delightful staff here but others are rude and surly and yet others are just plainly incompetent and it’s those weak links that leave the impression.

Like the arrogant waiter who struts around as if the place runs for his benefit and snaps his fingers at paying customers or orders their, perfectly well behaved, children about. Or the service at Dinner; we were seated and ignored for 40 minutes before anyone thought to take even a drinks order and even then we had to order twice before anything arrived. The waiter, he of the snapping fingers poured water all over the table and the food that arrived was cold and fairly insubstantial – its very rare that my wife complains that she feels short changed.

Don’t even get me started on what you have to do to get a couple of cups of coffee with your desert.

If you want a pretty hotel, near the lido that is a comfortable launch-pad for days in Venice, this place may be ok but if you wish to eat, or spend time relaxing in the hotel, this is not so good. There is plenty of choice about, why take the risk?

Our return visit was as great as our first visit here!

My husband and I stayed here 2 years ago and we returned this summer with our teenage sons. We loved the location - minutes to the beach and a vaporetto ride to St. Marks in Venice. We loved the convenience of the breakfasts and the patio setting for dining and drinks. The managers couldn't have been more helpful. The computer in the lobby was very handy as well. Hope to return.

Ondanks dat mijn zoon een ongeluk heeft gehad in het centrum en zijn been in het gips zat, was het personeel zeer behulpzaam en lief. Geen vraag was teveel en we hebben er een zeer prettig verblijf gehad! Fijn klassiek hotel en een mooie tuin. Met de watertaxi stap je 50 meter verder op. De bus stopt ook op 1 minuut loopafstand. Goede keuken en dito ontbijt.
