Checkin was easy and quick. Hotel staff was friendly. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The main issue i had with my stay is that the windows on the stret side seem to be made of plastic wrap or something. Every car, bus, truc and bicycle could be heard driving buy and sitting at the light. I have never been in such a noisy room. Bring earplugs just in case you happen to be on the street side.
Unfortunately this is enough for me to not return to this hotel

Greetings from valet when we got there were wonderful! Inside registration was ok and helpful when looking for a drugstore. Room was clean beds comfortable. Shower was beautiful. Only downside is no coffee bar in the lobby and coffee in the rooms is Terrible.

Clean and well located. Fun area. 3 reasons not 5 stars and not highly recommended. First there was the noise in my 3rd floor room on 40th. Really loud early morning. The front desk person told me some guests like the noise because reminded them of urban living. A bit hard to believe. Second the much promoted rooftop closed Sunday and Monday during my visit. Third $32 for parking when not even downtown was excessive and felt a bit like a resort fee.

This hotel is ok. Parking is by valet (additional $32, but for NFL Draft, it was $45, which was not diclosed). There is no continental breakfast. While the hotel is nice, they seem to want to charge for most amenities.

The place is really nice and the staff is super friendly. If you're traveling with a partner though, be aware that the bathrooms do not have closing doors. You will essentially be using the restroom within 5 feet of whoever is in the room with you. You also have to pay over thirty dollars to park your car overnight and you cannot opt out of the valet service. The only way to avoid this is to find street parking.

Valet and check-in desk staff were awesome-super friendly. My room wasn't in the best shape- tons of scratches and knicks out of the wall and paint. Overall, it just didn't feel clean. The layout of the room was really odd too- no door on the shower, just a shower curtain. ? And you had to turn sideways to get to the head of the bed because the walls only about 12\" away from the wall. The bed was comfortable, but overall lots of outside and hallway noise.

Hotel front desk and valet were professional and friendly. I ordered a takeout burger from the rooftop restaurant, and it was delicious, done just right, five stars! Our room was immaculately clean and compactly comfortable. We were on the first floor so heard traffic a bit but it wasn’t too bad. (May have seen ghost shapes in the room in the wee hours, but felt nothing to worry about, fell right back to sleep. What did this building used to be?)

This hotel was formerly a trade college, nicely repurposed so as to leave traces of the old school visible. Our room was small, but fully functional and comfortable. Probably not a good choice for non-couples, since the shower is not inside a bathroom. Bed was super comfortable, there was plenty of space to work at the desk.

The location is excellent, within walking distance of any restaurant or store in Lawrenceville. Valet parking was $32 a day within In-N-Out privileges, and the valets are always available. Given the parking situation in this area of Pittsburgh, it was super convenient. You might be able to find on street parking for free, but we were driving a large vehicle and figured it was worth the extra cost.

Our booking included a $16 voucher toward breakfast downstairs at the coffee shop. That was plenty for a small breakfast and coffee, although people who want a larger meal made up paying a few dollars extra. Coffee was excellent, and the food was very good.

All in all a great day. This is a funky boutique hotel located in a vibrant and busy part of town with great nightlife. If you’re looking for a traditional hotel, like a Hilton or Marriott, this is not it. If you’re looking for comfortable experience with that much younger vibe, this is your place.

Micro room was good, very small but adequate & decorated with a modern flair. Was missing a remote & ice bucket which was furnished on request. Roof top bar & restaurant had a wonderful outdoor seating area. Staff wasvery friendly. Only downside is the 30$ @ day parki ng fee. Valets were great however.

Thanks to other reviews we made sure to book a room with two beds for more space. The room was super cute and well taken care of. Staff was very friendly. Annoying that parking wasn't included in the price as due to the location of the parking lot, it seems like it should be included-- valet was kinda pointless. Although the valet staff were very friendly and professional.

I have three issues with Tryp, not counting the very silly name.

The first is that the doors between adjoining rooms are not well sound-proofed. Our neighbors were not especially loud, but because of the gap under the door we could still hear everything they said.

The second is that the sink is not located inside the bathroom. Anyone who wants to wash their hands after using the bathroom in the middle of the night therefore has to turn on a light that will disturb everyone else in the room.

The third is that our television spontaneously turned itself on in the middle of the night while we were sleeping. There were no buttons on the TV that would have allowed us to turn it off again and the remote was completely non-functional.

We were happy to have a place to stay that was in a great location. But being forced to use and pay for valet is silly and inconvenient having to ask for keys to a car that is parked 20 feet away. It was cool being in my grandfather’s high school, but the interior room furniture is rusting. It’s a comfortable spot, great locale.

They say your opinion of a place is based on your most negative interaction… I had two negative experiences. Let me first say that the room was clean and as described. That is the last good thing to say.

The valet service was rude, there was a line of cars, and I was the next in line and they walked past me and addressed all of the cars behind me first. I suspect it is a preconceived bias.

On the third day of my stay, housekeeping came and cleaned the room and took a large paper grocery bag that I had all of my snacks and drinks packed in and they threw it away. In addition, I had brought a plate and fork from home and they threw away both the plate and the metal fork. (the fork was part of a match set.) when I brought this to the attention of housekeeping, they indicated they were having problems with these two housekeepers. They offered up some free snacks, but we’re unwilling to do anything about the missing fork.

The staff were really good. I ended up getting an upgrade because they didn’t have a room in my class which was fantastic. I appreciated that. What I didn’t see on the website is that the restaurants, both of them, are closed on Mondays so I had nowhere to eat and no way to go get something so I had to order in food which I did not plan. Other than that the stay was fantastic.

Our room on the 2nd floor street side was terrible !! It was noisy , as if the windows were cracked open and I can feel the cold air coming from the windows as well ! So I was not able to sleep well to the point were I had to put my AirPod in to dim the street noise

Overall the hotel and room was nice. It wouldve been helpful to know that parking in the lot was valet only before i arrived. The front desk clerk did go above and beyond when i told him that the TV remote was missing. He mustve tried 10 different remotes before finding one that worked. I did have to ask for a refrigerator aswell. The only down sides (aside from the unknown valet parking) was that the vent fan in the bathroom could not be shut off and that the drain in the shower was clogged thankfully there was another drain in the bathroom so nothing flooded.
