So this is not a full review because Expedia really dropped the ball on this and did not get this reservation set with the property. When I arrived to get my room, the owners said they never received the reservation request (even though I paid up front and had confirmation of the reservation) and did not have any rooms available, so that left me scrambling to find lodging at the last minute. Expedia did refund me, as they should, and provided a small credit (which didn't offset the additional price I paid for the new hotel), but it was a major inconvenience. This is the first this happed and hopefully the last.

It has gotten poor reviews in the past. But I am quite satisfied. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Quiet, Friendly staff. A little bit penny pinching, but for the cost savings on the room, I'll put up with it. I spent 3 nights here for the cost of 1 night anywhere else. The refrigerator had a freezer compartment, which is rare, and I like it. The hot water came on instantly. Also a rarity. Oh, and within walking distance of stores and restaurants.

We tried to check in and they didn’t have our reservations that we made several months ago. I even confirmed with the motel the day I booked it because we were traveling with a group of others and we wanted to have close rooms. He put us on the opposite side of the motel as them. The man at the front desk then started yelling at me at check in because I was getting irritated with the way HE was speaking to me and how rude he was acting. We drove 8+ hours, of course I’m going to be frustrated! We couldn’t even leave because they would not refund us and that was almost all of our money. Very rude and unprofessional staff. Disgustingly dirty room. Dead bed bugs found, Dirt specks all over beds right when we walked in. Bathroom door gets stuck, you have to REALLY pull to get it open. Pee stained towel found underneath the mattress.The floor as well as the blankets looks like they have never been cleaned. Killed a spider in the bathroom the first night as well as found a dead bug in the shower. Did not sleep under any of the provided blankets due to how disgusting the beds were. Used my own blanket and pillow. Hair was found in corners of the shower and on the bed. Closet has a very strong moldy, musky smell so we did not use it. No shampoo, but they are so kind to give you TWO bottles of conditioner and a half used bottle of lotion. Every person in my party agreed that the front desk man was extremely rude and inconsiderate. He is NOT a nice person. This place should be shut down

i already submitted my comments on your earlier survey. no trash can in room. no one at front desk - had to come back and call to get a trash bag - was told housekeeping woud supply one - never came. door gets stuck and you can't get out of your room. i went out to get breakfast and when i came back i realized i left my key (an old fashioned key) in my room. went straight to the office - no one there - knocked and banged on the door - no one came - finally the desk clerk/owner comes out screaming like a mad man saying i was trying to break in to his part of the building. ridiculous. berated me for locking the key in the door. made me show ID again - i was in tears - but that made no difference to this monster. HORRIBLE MAN.

If price is your biggest concern this one's a winner but...

Pros:
-Price
- Location
- basically everything you need
- very comfy bed and pillows
- the look of the room was overall pleasant and had been obviously updated.

Cons:
- the bedspread was gross it had body hairs on it and an obvious oily \"haze\"
-theres no heat in the bathroom
- the shower head was not adjustable below \"spray right in the face\" level
-hot water waffled between hot and cool
- the metal on the bottom of the bed was noisy, would not recommend a stay here for adult activities

Bottom line: The Sonesta in Lowell was only $14 more per night, and it's 100x better.

Wasn’t expecting a lot for the low price but this wasn’t worth it at all. The heater didn’t work properly so we froze. the bathroom was even colder, no heat way to cold to even shower. Not that we wanted to bc it was pretty grimy. There was old milk left in the refrigerator too. One light didn’t work and only 2 flat pillows per bed.

After coming here from New York, this place is completely nasty. There is trash in the back that looks like a landfill. The room i was in smelled like a rotten mop was used. I had to wet a towel and rewipe the floor. The doors close with a huge gap at the bottom to let small rodents in and are attracted to light at night. Never again

Didn't feel safe there - screaming and police and ambulance arrived to another unit.

Service - I asked for a small soap packet when I checked in and front desk person grilled me on whether I was staying there until I showed him my key - really? On checkout waited 15 minutes for someone to arrive.

Property cleaniliness - Lot's of junk around the units - looks like the hotel has long term residents

Overall, I'm not too picky and would stay again in a pinch if alone but I would not bring my wife. She didn't feel safe there.

There was a construction dump sight right out side the window. Room #2 had spaces taken out of the shade so you could see a person on the toilet or stepping out of the shower. The front door had pry marks on it and was very hard to lock and no way to secure it from inside. The coffee machine in the lobby wouldnt work. I asked for assistance and the person would not get off the phone to help. They literally told me to just push button's or its not working i dont know they said. Also they were pushing us to leave at 11 when internet clearly said 12. Also, they tried to get me to pay again TWICE. i showed them confirmation page and everything. They finally said oh you paid online. Very inappropriate and unprofessional

The service was great. The cleanliness of the hotel was not. There was mold in the shower and it filled the room with mold moisture air. I’m allergic to mold so it made me and my cousin who stayed with me both very sick. The hotel stunk of smoke even tho signs say no smoking. Very dusty in the hotel. Sheets on the bed didn’t look clean. Towels either.

Considering how many negative reviews that cropped up the week before the trip, I was beginning to get a little worried about the condition of the rooms. But overall, the place was not bad. If you've ever gone to a state college, you have stayed in far worse rooms. The fridge worked, the heat worked, and the shower was perfect. Only thing you might want to do is bring an extra blanket and some spare pillows for yourself.

I checked in the room at 6 PM, there were lot of fly in the room. I called receptionist and they gave me spray but it didn't worked. I was unable to sleep all night due to fly. I had killed at least 8 fly by going all around behind the fly by using towel beating to fly. I would never recommend to stay in this motel.

There is a reason they don’t issue refunds.

This motel is VERY no frills. We walked in and were nearly knocked over by the smell of men’s cologne that was obviously meant to mask odor. It was so bad that we could still smell and taste it after having left the motel. There was mold all over the caulking around the base of the shower. The beds were horrible. There is a reason they don’t issue refunds. When you see inside your room, you won’t want to stay.

The whole room could have used a good deep clean. There was mildew and hair in the shower. The floor was gritty. And there was dust on top of the lampshades and windowsill. Upon arriving, the room had a strong stale-ish potpourri-ish smell. The doors looked dirty. And the bathroom door would get stuck. We had to ask for new towels, due to them not cleaning the rooms during the stay. Which is \"good\", but there was no protocol for getting clean towels during the stay. When I would ask, the lady at the counter would check, to see how many days I was staying. Before giving me more towels. We stayed because of the price and being only 20 minutes outside Boston. The stay was good, just needs better cleaning.

I don't typically have bad experiences with hotels so I didn't purchase the safety net. My bad. We chose a smoking room so we could smoke here and there. Walking in, it is immediately unbreathable. We tried to stay for an hour or two; that's when we started feeling like chain smokers without even smoking. Explaining to the front desk the situation, he proceeded to make me feel stupid for purchasing a smoking room. It is understood that we purchased a smoking room, however we also expected a breathable room. We turned our keys in and went to a different hotel for the night.

The Bedford is obviously an older and somewhat tired hotel that they have done some very nice rehab and remodeling to. It was clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. I would stay there again without hesitation!

It took us about 5 minutes to decide we'd rather stay somewhere else. Between bloodstains, the lock breaking, a bathroom that smelled of a corpse, and the breathtaking amount of mold & rust on the A/C, sleep in the car.

Shower was broken. And the mattress that we didn't use appeared to have the top corner soaked with blood, all the way through. As if a murder happened here. Totally creepy and very shoddy condition throughout. The only reason we stayed the night is because we were traveling and totally exhausted. Management was uncooperative with any sort of refund

Extremely dirty, don’t waste your money

Do not stay here. It was the dirtiest place I have had to stay in as they will not do refunds. The bathroom was moldy, the blinds covered in tears of dust, dirt and death moths. The entry wall before the bathroom looks like it had dried vomit on the wall. The microwave was filthy. The bedside tables, lamps and phone were covered in inches of dust. They hung a tree car air freshener on the curtain pole to “freshen up” the room.
Do not waste your money! I never took my shoes off until we crawled into bed.

there ware 3 things going on as we arrived the motel.
In the courtyard one group having barbecue w/drink out side of the room, other group drinking carton of beer in front of the room and other group have argument with a motel employee (?) in courtyard. These noise continue to late night and our room #27 smells strong artificial odor inside.

Very dirty room and bathroom. Had to clean every surface ourselves with Clorox wipes. Shower was moldy and dirty too. Noisy truck revving up at 6;30 every morning outside our door woke us up and a skunk blasted the parking lot, waking us up with the horrible stench.

The room looks nothing like the pictures online. There were ants crawling around the room, the walls were dirty and gross, the room smelled like cigarette smoke, the wall air conditioner smelled like mold and mildew when you turned it on, there were long hairs on our pillows and it seemed the bedding was never washed, the bathroom was dirty including the shower and over all the room was...disgusting. There were also what seemed like full time residents milling about the parking lot. In times of dealing with Covid, I did not want to stay in a room that was not clean and risk my health. We checked out about 10 minutes after arriving and went to another hotel. Do not waste your time or money on this place.

Just awful. I went because of the \"7\" rating but after walking through the door to our room with my son, I knew there was no way we'd stay the night, which we didn't. I'm not sure which was more depressing, the terrible \"K-Mart\" like lighting of the whole room or the paper thin walls that allowed me to hear in detail the drug use preparation the couple in the next room were in the process of doing. What else...bugs in the bathroom, peeling paint on literally everything that was painted and cigarette butts on the doormat. It's the kind of place you go to when you've give up or are ready to cash it in.

Only stayed overnight. The town was very quaint and nice. The hotel wa shockingly old. The shower was disgusting. I bought Lysol wipes at cvs and scrubbed down bathroom. The sheets were ok the blankets had cigarette burns in them. I also lysoled the bed,sheets , pillows, carpet and chairs

There were stains on the walls, curtains, ceiling, and bed skirt. The door had a huge gap under it so I wouldn't stay here in the winter. The window shades were partially torn off the track.The shower had water accumulated under its floor so the shower floor moved when you stood on it. This place needs a good clean and a remodel.

Its a dive -- stay away from room 35

Came in around 9 pm and would have left if a) it hadn't been so late and b) I had a refundable room reservation. The room smelled of cigarette and pot smoke -- the entire property was suppose to be non-smoking. The room was very shabby and dusty. While the critical areas (sink, toilet, shower) were reasonably clean, the door knob area was very dirty. The SMOKE detector had been ripped off the ceiling and was missing. The next morning I asked for a room change -- which I got. The new room smelled better and was much cleaner -- but there was a HUGE amount of dust around the edges. The sheets were clean, but in both rooms there was a great deal of evidence of cigarette damage.

The WiFi did not meet our room. A 20.00 WiFi booster could fix that.
There was trash in parking lot.
We had an emergency where we couldn’t stay the second night and they were unwilling to assist even knowing she was being admitted to Boston Childrens Hospital. What a shame!

Terrible motel!!! Not worth 1 cent! NO wifi, rooms were a dump. Staff was rude, nobody was in the lobby for check-in (I had to wait a while before someone was able to check me in). TV and the bedside lamp didn't work, the room was non-smoking but it had obviously been smoked in, and there were multiple holes in the wall. There were minimal outlets in the room and the two outlets that there were, one was missing a cover and the other outlet cover was taped on the wall. The outlets were just loose (not secured) in the wall making it a complete fire hazard!! Avoid this place!!

The staff are not the friendliest I’ve met. You need to call loudly at the front desk to get the reception. The hairdryer in my room was not working and I walked to the front office to get a new one. Their backup hairdryer was not working either. And their solution was to have me use the one in the room next door.... I won’t expect much from a motel but this was rather disappointing.

Only a last resort...

Can't really say anything good about this place. Had to book someplace in a rush due to state of emergency. Booked 2 non smoking rooms; one of which had a pile of cig butts strewn in front of the door and couldn't step but a few feet into the room due to smoke odor before turning around and headed straight to the office to request another room, which was provided without question. Bathroom needs to be redone, very sad shape. Couldn't wait to leave.

Such a cute little motel. Obviously it’s not something extravagent, but for the price, it really is a great place. My husband and I stayed for the week and it was perfect. We had our room tidied up every day and the staff was so pleasant. There was free WiFi which was great and the TV was great too. The only thing is that the room felt a little dusty. But other than that, we really enjoyed ourselves.
