We quite enjoyed our short stay. The area is quite ethnic but really friendly and interesting. It is some distance from the city center but very close to a subway station that became quite convenient for daily travel. We would stay here again!

Loved this property. It was clean, staff friendly and helpful. Wasn’t the closest to things. Cost $80 to get from the airport by Uber. The rooms and lobby were cool and colorful. The bar was open 24/7 we had a late night cocktail. I have nothing bad to say about this property.

Ok to stay here again if there’s nowhere else.

10 stars for the friendly and helpful staffs and excellent service. Located in a bit sketchy neighborhood. The rooms facing the wood are nicer and quiet. The ones facing the residential are not so nice and can’t be noisy.
This is the HOSTEL not hotel. 2 rooms, 4 beds each sharing a 1 small private bathroom. Most people staying here are business and students. I’m a tourist and I feel bad to use the bathroom before they do. The pillow is so tiny and the bed is pretty uncomfortable.

Great value hotel with super friendly staff

Fantastic hotel, incredible value. The bed was amazing, room much larger than expected. Staff were incredible, responsive, polite, and just fantastically nice! If I was in the area again, I'd be delighted to stay there again, although I would love a coffee machine in the room (I know they're available in the 'business' rooms), but aside from that, I had a great, comfortable, and quiet stay.
The hotel bar is also very comfortable, and outside area lovely!

Good little hotel in Gesundbrunnen

Hotel Big Mama is a bit hidden from streetview, and somehow easy to miss. It is, however, a reasonably good hotel and with an excellent price-to-quality ratio. It is located not far from the tram line, and within walking distance of the U8/U9 station of Osloer Strasse. My room was spacious, the bed was quite comfortable, and the curtains were thick enough to block the annoying sunlight appearing in the summer skies of Berlin at 5am, helping me sleep in if I wanted to. The WiFi was good and reliable. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and the reception was always open. I can't comment on the breakfast, as I did not take it (it seemed a bit overpriced). But overall, a very pleasant experience. I would stay here again.

Room was spacious, rather simple but very modern (ikea) design. Bed and pillows were great, I have never better slept in my life (or that was Berlin that tired me). Room temperature was just as it was supposed to be, even though I am not sure if there was some kind of air conditioning, since I didn’t needed. The only thing that was missing in the room was the fridge. Bathroom was big, nothing fancy but I had everything needed (clean towels, hair dryer, soap, shampoo). And staff at the reception was great, nice, polite and gave me all the answers I needed, though without being too intrusive as receptionist staff usually is in more so to say fancier hotels. Public transport is close to the building (max 6minutes) and it takes you to the city “center” in less than 20min. I would definitely choose the same hotel next time in Berlin.

Super friendly staff, breakfast a bit pricey €11,90 for whats available, parking on site cost extra €10. There are many cafes, restaurants, and necessary shops available within 5-10 min walking distance. I did enjoy my stay, but realized hostel living isnt for me, lol. Offers hostel, rooms, and studio apts. Good spot to catch a little rest. Would stay again.

Really love this hotel. The location is perfect for me, the staff is kind and helpful, rooms are very comfortable.Great breakfast.
Since my last visit - no more small bottles of shampoo and soap; now there are only big dispensers with soap/shampoo. no more body lotion or conditioner. Bring your own.
Also - the plastic curtain in the shower is something that should be replaced.

The accomodation was very clean and comfortable. Clean towels daily if required. Family room had plenty of space with a small kitchen area. New toiletries holders installed whilst there - better. Good hairdryer. Only concern was location - a bit far out but accessible by train once you figure out which line to take. Is right in middle of residential area, off the tourist route. Good value for those who don't mind using the train.

Excellent, helpful, friendly staff, always willing to oblige. Bit out of the way but very close to the transport system. Once you figure the way to use it it makes all of Berlin very accessible.again the staff are more than willing to help out if needed. Nice breakfast selection, bit pricey but nice all of the same. Bit limited on things to do around the hotel but easy transport sorts that. The rooms were more functional than elegant but good for the price. I would g back there having better knowledge of the local area.

I'll repeat what other reviewers have stated. Friendly english speaking staff,nice sized spotless rooms with comfortable bed. I'm an early riser (my wife is not) so appreciated the guest lounge area and free wi-fi. It's only a short walk to the U-Bahn,Trams and buses so pretty easy to get to other parts of the city. The only negative was the dawn chorus of sparrows etc that were instrusive as our room was at the rear, overlooking trees. Best pack some earplugs

Brilliant hotel with an ubahn 5 minutes walk away. The hotel staff were brilliant. On arriving they informed us that they did not have twin rooms but very kindly upgraded us to accommodate this request. Nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Big Mama with the family for a 3 night stay

Hotel Big Mama is great for access to the transport network, the reception staff are pleasant , helpful and gave us a friendly welcome.
The hotel room was spacious, clean and un-cluttered. although we had a sink and a cold water tap this room could have benefitted greatly from having a refrigerator to store food and milk for us to prepare breakfast / packed lunches before our sightseeing trips into town.

Beautiful contemporary hotel that won't break the

This is a beautifully clean, contemporary hotel. It's minimalism doesn't take away from its facilities and you will be impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of the staff.
Rooms are simple, modern and clean with everything you should need for your trip. It's quiet too, with no street noise to worry about as the hotel is located off the main road and in a courtyard behind the main buildings on the street.
The breakfast is fantastic- cold meats, selection of bread, cheese and fruit, and enough coffee and juice you could need.
All questions and enquiries were answered immediately and the staff genuinely do care. I look forward to staying here again.

Great but lacking a few key things

Overall the experience was great for the price, but they really need to improve upon two key things.

First, the lack of AC. Yes, many European hotels don't have AC, but it would be nice to have it especially when there is a lot of ambient noise coming from outside.

Second, the small size of the shower. The shower is approximately 1 meter by 1 meter. And it doesn't have a door, but a shower curtain. That combined means you have almost no room to move around, water gets everywhere, and it is extremely uncomfortable.

If you don't mind the heat and don't mind a small shower this is a great location as long as you're not spending much.

Great find in Wedding

A friend of ours who had stayed at Big Mama a number of times highly recommended it. We were not disappointed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful -- especially Katarina! The ambiance of this hotel is bright, cheerful, and very clean. Also the hotel offers a beautiful buffet breakfast. A cool cafe on the lobby floor was casual and inviting. We would certainly want to stay here on our next trip. The reason that we gave four rather than five stars was that it isn't located closer to the Mitte. The U-bahn and S-bahn stops however are only five and three minute walks respectively. Bonus point: the bakery located at the access lane to the hotel was awesome.

We had Family room with kitchenette, very spacious, very clean, and there is everything you need for your stay. I was with my wife and two daughters. Very close to U-Bahn, and other public transportation.
Its quite place, very near you have huge super market if you need (Kaufland). Plenty of small bakery's and other place's to eat.
Wi-Fi signal and internet provided was excellent.
All employees at the hotel were very friendly and polite ( they speak perfectly English)

All in all great place to stay and I do highly recommend

I arrived late afternoon Big Mama hotel.
The receptionist asked for ID. She had some confusion arround my staying. (was prepaid) Gave me a paper and I signed up for a room at 6 floor - and then ask me to pay. I told here I had prepaid. Then she gave me another room at second floor 209. I got the keycard and went up to the room. locked me in and surprised.There was shoes, closes and suitcases in the room - Means already people here. I had no intension to share my prepaid room with other.
Back to the receptionist - there apolygis for the inconvience situation. And then - Again - gave me another keycard to room 508.
OK - room 508 was ready for a new guest. Finally.
Next morning I went out for browsing in Berlin. Then I came back to my room at the hotel - the doorkey dosent work for opening ... Back to the receptionist. And another apolygize. Updated roomkey and then everything afterwoods fit to end of my staying.
But to much inconvience

BEWARE BIG MAMA!

It was misleading at best, a complete con at worst. The low price was for a shared dorm, not an actual room, with one bathroom, in ill-kept condition, shared between two bunking bedrooms between eight people, without soap or towels. More like a hostel than a hotel. We did move to a hotel room, but not without paying a hefty extra.

At hotel arrival, staff were very helpful. Throughout the 8 days I stayed here they continued to interact and were always pleasant.

The room was maintained well by housekeeping staff, with fresh towels every day and the bed being remade. The bed was larger than most and extremely comfortable.

Not too far from the nearest subway stop, around a 10 minute walk, and roughly a 30 minute walk from the closest airport train line. Not many local restaurants other than the neighbouring cafe which was lovely.

Overall a pleasant stay, price is very equal to the experience.

Nice. Needs TV channels in English (for the kids)

Nice hotel if a bit secluded from the main road. Not centrally located, but quite easy access to downtown via metro in about 10 minutes.

For advice: maybe a little fridge in the room. And tv channels in English, if possible (even other languages) as for the kids to have some fun too :-)

Great Hotel - Excellent

Although the hotel is not situated in the best area of Berlin the accessibility to the city was easy as the tube station was nearby and the city centre is in walking distance. Bikes can be hired from the hotel which would make touring the city even easier.
The restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent and the hotel breakfast buffet is very generous and caters for all tastes. A nearby restaurant serves authentic suchi food which was amazing! We will definitely stay again, ideal for us as family live nearby.

A great surprise

I did not want to expect too much at the beginning but the hotel turned out to be more than satisfying. I was travelling alone and went for the double room with private bathroom. The room that I got was very big, clean and the bathroom was huge too. It is 5 minutes walk to the U-Bahn which takes you directly to Alexanderplatz. It is in a residential area and hence the quiet neighbourhood.

Was a great stay, very affordable and 4 min Walk to the bus that goes straight to the airport, and to the train station. The only thing is to get to the hotel you have to walk through what looks like commission flats, the neighbourhood seems a bit sketchy as well, I probably wouldn't feel safe walking at night.

I stayed at Hotel Big Mamma for 5 days in September 2015, and had a wonderful experience.

The Hotel is located in the 'Berlin Mitte' district- while this was quite far from the center of the city (and could necessitate some early mornings- it could take us between 30-60 minutes to reach our desired location) the hotels proximity to the Osloer St. station made the commute easy and comfortable, as did the quality of Berlins transport system!

We stayed in a room of 4 with a shared bathroom. The layout of rooms meant we were sharing with another 4 bed room- and one negative aspect was that we could not lock our room, meaning those in the adjacent room could wander into ours. However, we each had a locker meaning all our valuables were safe!

The Quality of room was fantastic. While simple, it was well presented and clean. Our only complaint is that it would have been nice to have a kettle to make ourselves teas/coffees, but this is a minor quibble.

Definitely treat yourself to a meal at the hotel- the Thai restaurent is absolutely excellent. Never having tried Thai food before, we weren't sure what to think, but the food was gorgeous.

I would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone going for a short stay in Berlin. It is incredibly easy to get to the city center, and our experience was fantasitc!

We loved the large room and bathroom, wardrobe, spare pillows, extra large pillows, huge king bed, very clean, free bottle of bubbly water, secure parking in their garage, great reception staff who were friendly and spoke English, great breakfast for €9.90, lifts to your room, metro within walking distance, Apple desktop computer for guests to use in lobby, maps available, good neighbourhood, super colourful decor. Everything was great. Only 2 small downfalls: distance from city center, but it is just a 5 min walk from the metro, other thing is that a bathroom was shared between my room and another room but there was no way to lock my room individually. Lockers with locks are provided though. I would definitely recommend.

Terrific staff in recently re-modeled hotel

When I got to the hotel, I didn't have any euros so I went to the ATM at the U Banh station. My card didn't work because my bank messed up. After I told the manager of my situation he went above and beyond to help me when he didn't have to do anything.
The rest of the the staff is very friendly and efficient.
Our room was recently re-modeled, and very clean and very comfortable.
The hotel is about 8 minutes from a U Banh station in a quiet neighborhood. There are a lot of Turkish people in the area, and I found them to quite friendly.
The Thai restaurant has very good food but did not take credit cards. I suggested that the post a sign since that could be a problem to some people.
We are returning to Berlin for a couple days before we fly out of Tegel, and you can believe the we are staying at Hotel Big Mama

Loved it in any way possible

The staff were so nice and helpful even before we arrived, they helped us and answered all my questions extensively. The room is big and clean, felt like we're the first to sleep in it! we thought the breakfast was too pricey so we didn't eat there, plus I am vegan so I practically had nothing I can eat there... the Thai restaurant was VERY good and tasty, prices were fair. the service was great, we once came about 10-20 minutes before closing, hungry as hell, and they let us in to eat :) thanks for that!
The room service was very good, we left him/her a thank you note when we left. it was nice coming to a clean room after a long traveling day.
There is a computer (Mac) in the lobby which is in German but works great and free to use. the wi-fi is strong and fast (we were at the 5th floor and still great reception)
On the last day they watched over our stuff from check-out till we left in the evening, which was great and also free. not so obvious.

Spent just one night in the hotel, used the restaurant (thai food) in the evening, and the breakfast in the morning. The hotel is excellent value for money: it is very inexpensive, yet modern, and clean. The rooms and the lobby are nicely furnished, and the staff helpful and efficient. The wi-fi network is very fast, but there is no phone in the room. The only drawback is the hotel location: it is difficult to find, and not easily accessible by public transport (about 20 minutes walk from the nearest S-bahn station). Bikes can be hired at the hotel or just near-by.

Hotelli oli siisti ja henkilökunta todella mukavaa ja avuliasta. Sänky oli upean iso ja juuri sopivan jämäkkä. Liikenneyhteydet ovat hyvät, mutta onhan hotelli vähän syrjäinen. Sen ympärillä oleva asuinalue on rauhallinen, ehkä vähän nuhjuinen, mutta turvallinen. Lähellä oli leikkipuisto ja lasten museo, oivallista lapsiperheelle.

Dejligt sted - fem stjerner til alt personalet. BIG MAMA betyder hygge. Hjalp med alt hvad vi bad om.
Dejlige værelser. Lidt larm nedenfor, som kunne være lidt generende når der ikke er aircon på værelset.
Eneste problem vi havde var vandet som skiftede meget temeratur.
Dejligt morgenmad, med mulighed for at sidde udenfor i en relativ rolig baggård.
Kan være lidt svær at finde, men kig efter skiltene.

Gutes Hotel mit Hinweisen

Gutes Hotel - Empfehlenswert. Allerdings sollte man für den Sommer wissen, dass es dort keine Klimaanlagen gibt und es daher recht warm wird im Zimmer. Zudem sind die Vorhänge nicht ganz lichtabsorbierend, sodass es zudem relativ früh sehr hell wird im Zimmer, wenn man eines auf der Ostseite hat. Das Fürhstück ist gut und in einem normal bis gutem Preis/Leistungsverhältnis

Stylish, Well-Located, and Comfortable Stay

My stay at Big Mama Berlin was great. The hotel is just a 10-minute walk from Osloer Str. Metro Station, which connects easily to Alexanderplatz and the city center.

I recommend downloading the BVG app — it makes buying tickets super easy. A single ride costs €3.80.

Breakfast is simple but good. The Wi-Fi had some interruptions at night.

The linens, including the towels, are excellent. The hotel’s café is a nice bonus — they serve fresh espressos, cappuccinos, and macchiatos right at the bar with a proper machine.

The best part is the hotel’s interior design — stylish and creative throughout. They also rent bikes.

Highly recommended!

Clean, pleasant, big family apartment with two separate rooms. Nice beds. Quiet back yard area and we had a view to a small park. Not many restaurants nearby though. We parked our car in the hotel garage and used the subway 5 minuttes walk from the hotel. The staff was very friendly.

Die Unterkunft an sich ist in Ordnung. Die Zimmer sind \"okay\" , aber etwas unpraktisch und in meinem Fall auch (tatsächlich) eher spätlich eingerichtet. Da würden ein Tisch und zwei Stühle von IKEA deutlich praktischer sein, als die momentane Einrichtung. Das Frühstück ist mit 17,90 € zu teuer.
