The hotel is alright for a short stay

The place needs refurbishment carpets need cleaning and needs painting
There is no restaurant in the evenings it only does breakfast the staff were lovely and very helpful good transport links into the central city currently there is building work going on

No AC and it was 30 C (86 F) in our room one night with only a fan.
Also the elevator in the reception area wasn't working, so we had to use another that was only accessible from outside, over some rather rough and uneven pavement where renovations were being done.
We didn't partake of the breakfasts. The beds were good.

I had to book this hotel very last minute. I didn’t have a chance to read the many reviews stating that they don’t have heating or hot water in some of the rooms. Unfortunately, I was not able to stay in a place that doesn’t have heating or hot water in the city that can get as cold as Berlin.

I recently stayed in this hotel and I was traveling solo. In contrary to some of the reviews my stay was really good. Here is what I liked and what need some TLC:

Convenient location: It’s not in central Berlin, however I got a great rate for the room so I gave it a try. It’s about 10 min walking from Bornhomer Stranbe train station which is about 6 stops from Brandenburger Tor (center). I still have it fresh in memory because I was just there a few days ago.
In terms of safety, I don’t think I’ll navigate the area at night by myself but that is usually everywhere I go by myself. This area was populated mostly with middle eastern people from what I saw so this is what the food choices mostly are like Arab,Turkish etc. If you don’t want the hassle of traveling, book something closer to central.

For me it was fine as I was using the public transportation all day long. If you are in a budget, this is a great option as the conditions were excellent/spacious room etc.

TLC: The hotel needs some updates like the entrance glass needs fixing/the elevator was taking a little longer as it’s only one.

If I find another great deal, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

I booked a double room in middle of February 2024, and was at first shocked at the somewhat dilapidated entrance with bordered up windows. However, once we walked in to the main lobby, it felt like a cosy place to stay. The room was simple, elegant with a high ceiling, and well equipped save for the lack of an electric kettle. The breakfast buffet was widespread and delicious, which acted as a great start to our day in Berlin

The service, location, cleanliness and hospitality is simply spectacular particularly after having been through such a terrible and frightening experience with OCAK APARTMENT AND HOTEL BERLIN where I stayed for 4 days. I was looking forward to a European hotel experience and what i got was horrific. You will never go wrong with a US hotel, for sure. So I got this at a knock down price and as such can't really complain too much. I'd read some pretty bad reviews but I would say \"it's fine\". The rooms are a decent size if a bit dated with some questionable quality fittings in places. No air con in the lowest category of room which was tough in the summer heat. The rooms were clean enough and quite comfortable otherwise. Nice shady yard. Facilities felt a bit of an afterthought, for instance the fitness room was hidden with an ironing room and also wasn't air conditioned. Area is fine in terms of transport links but not much to do locally.

Hotel needs completely new management

There were several issues with the hotel. The first one is that the AC did not work on a very hot day. There was no efforts by the hotel to repair the AC.

The parking which was with 17 euros a day rather expensive, as it was a ruin of a former manufacturing site, did occasionaly not work. It showed at the gate that parking is full. When I called the hotel they they said first I should get a parking space on the street, knowing that there is usually not one space available . Only after insisting to get a place as a guest the hotel admitted me manually by pushing open the gate. It turns out the lot was less than half filed. At the reception desk I got the answer that happens rather often, as the they have cards out that give the system a wrong number so the electronic system over counts.
Covid regulations were not kept or controlled at a dinner buffet, as guests got food without masks.

OK stay with some things lacking

We came a family of 5, three generations, for 3 separate rooms. My grandparents who have issues standing and walking was missing some utilities in their room, mostly for the shower (my grandfather is missing half a leg and didn't have anything to assist him in the shower).
My own room never got a turndown, whilst my parents room got every night. It wasn't a big problem as I was by myself and only spent the time in the room for sleep.

The rooms were fine, some a bit tight for free space, but for each of us it was OK.

Staff was friendly and helpful (during the stay), and there was a nice outside sitting area we could all be together at, to cool a little bit for the very warm weekend.

It was close to the tram which connected nicely to the S/U bahns, which was nice for my grandmother who can't walk too long.

Breakfast buffet was great with a great selection.
We ate at the \"restaurant\" one night, with a limited selection, but food was OK.

Private parking was fine, so we didn't have to worry about the car, and just take the public transportation and taxi.

While described as being central, this isn't really the case. Only with thanks to Berlin's good transport links can you get to places within a good reach from this hotel.

The staff were often rude (with the exception of front desk clerk Jenna, who was particularly helpful throughout and made us feel welcome here), there was no consideration for the \"do not disturb\" sign by house keeping (who sometimes bothered to clean, sometimes didn't), tea/coffee facilities were only available upon request, the lift didn't work for part of the stay (my fellow traveller has mobility issues, stairs are not his friend).

For the money spent, we expected more. You get a sub-standard in a hot room that will only be cooled by a fan. You're better off elsewhere.

The property is lovely, although it’s not in Mitte as name suggests. Laundry facilities listed do no exist, although I did find an excellent laundromat in easy walking distance. The staff we encountered with the exception of one were unfriendly, unhelpful and reception staff were rude and dismissive.

Comfortable hotel with friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Easy to access by car with good parking. The area is under the flight path of Tegel airport so quite a lot of airplane noise but after the first day it wasn't really intrusive, otherwise the area was quiet and relaxed and close to nice small cafes and restaurants. Easy cycling to the centre and close to tram and rail/underground stations.

I had a heavy bag with me and was forced to drag it up stairs. The front door was broken so I had to drag it through the side door just to get to reception. I figured since it was a Wyndham it would be very nice. I realized that it was a very old building. The carpet in my room was in bad condition. The room was on the top floor and the bed was a twin size. The elevator was really slow stopping at every floor on the way down for no reason. The taxi I ordered while waiting for the lift had left by the time I was done. Just, not a good experience. Breakfast for another 13 Euro after all of that wasn't worth it.

We stayed here in the first week of August 2017. The public transport around the hotel made it an ideal place to stay. We used the Pankstr and Bornholmerstr stations as well as taking the 50 and M13 trams to Vinestr to catch other trams and trains. The hotel lobby was beautiful to sit in during the evening, the staff were attentive and helpful at all times. The hotel and rooms need some work but we're comfortable and clean, with the maids coming in everyday. A kettle would have been great to have. There is a fridge in a cupboard under the TV. Aircon would have also been a blessing, it was 31°C the week we stayed and the big fan in the room only helped a bit. If we were to go to Berlin again I would stay at Wyndham Gardens again, it was really nice coming back to a hotel in the suburbs instead of being in the noise of the city. Thank you.

A simple problem was too much for the hotel staff

When we returned to the hotel we walked pass the staff and discovered that the lift was not working. There was a sign stating this. We were annoyed as we were had a room on the 5th floor, so we walked up the stairs which were nearest to the lift that was not working. However we were unable to find our room when we reached the fifth floor, We we forced to return to the reception where we and another woman complained about this situation as there was no help offered by the staff about which stairs we should take in order to find our rooms. It's unacceptable and I will not be visiting this hotel again

Hotel was a bit out the way = 2 trams or a 10 min walk to the underground station to get into Alexander plts. Lift was broken on the last 2 days and I was on the 5th floor. The facilities are clean and comfortable. The fitness center, unfortunately, is not well equipped, and there are no business services to speak of (the one online computer had no printer capabilities). The was no coffee or tea in the room.
The staff are young, yet polite, and their graciousness makes up for their inexperience with hospitality. Room service is not as accessible as advertised in the in-room guides (we had to wait until 7:00 am to obtain \"24 hour service\").

Huge modern room with high ceilings. Loved the entry area and the staff who were so welcoming and helpful when we asked for local knowledge tips. Tea and coffee facilities were available on request - which we did and they happily provided. Our room also included a safe deposit box and free quality Wi-Fi.
Cleaning staff also friendly and courteous - always saying good morning. Perhaps a little too efficient in cleaning up and replacing towels - even replacing them if they had been left hanging up - contrary to the hotel's environmental policy.
The only negative was the mould in the shower recess where there was a considerable build up which was a little disappointing.
Otherwise we were very happy with our stay.

Everything is great except one housekeeper

The staff is friendly. The hotel is plain but overall sufficient. Most of the housekeepers are fine except one who was trying to get me out of the room. It happened twice during my one-week stay. I wasn't sure what she was saying. On my last day, at 10am she knocked on my door and showed me the time (10am is not checkout time) as if it was time for me to leave. When I said not yet, she gave me an attitude and rolled her eyes at me. With her Italian or Portuguese accent, I couldn't understand why she was trying to get me out of the room despite the staff at the reception knew that I was going to stay until checkout time.

Excellent hotel. Fabulous breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Only problem was it wasn't a double bed, it was two single beds pushed together! Location is about 3 miles from centre which might not suit everyone. However we enjoyed the stroll each night and it's not too far to nearest subway station. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

The location of the place was ideal. The hotel also boosts a bar and dinning place. The room were standard size and comfortable. If you reach in late like 12 am, still you can find places near by to eat. The hotel also offers pizzas after the dinning room has closed) , so you dont need to go out. Great experience. Will use them again

A Gem in Berlin

The Wyndham Garden Berlin Mitte was a pleasure to stay at. The staff were on top of everything and were always pleasant to deal with. The room was a posh affair and the bathroom was excellent. Transportation was just across the road or down the corner, and the Berlin metro is among the best. This hotel is north of the tourist areas and for us that was a plus, because we were able to see much more of the local character of Berlin. The Metro stop around the corner is about ten minutes from Alexandre Plaza. Also around the corner is a Shell gas station with a convenience store that sells large containers of coffee. Across the street from the Shell station is a grocery store.

Fantastic hotel with friendly staff, rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard. The hotel is only 15-20 mins away from the centre of Berlin so nice to be in a quiet area to relax and sleep. The tram stops just down the road and that takes you straight to the underground , would defiantly recommend this hotel.

Well up to expectations.

We were visiting our son who lives nearby. The location was therefore ideal and we didn't need to use the excellent transport links very much. The temperatures were pretty extreme (38C on the last day!) but the air con worked well.
Staff were friendly and helpful and all spoke good English. We had only one meal in the restaurant but it was excellent and the price reasonable.
The main lift is a bit slow and prone to over-crowding at times but you are not likely to use the stairs for more than one floor!
We are quite likely to visit again as long as son lives where he does.

Our stay at the Wyndham Garden in Mitte was perfect. Better than we expected.. Everyone was friendly, good English, room was cosy, bed was lush. Cannot complain. Good stroll to public transport stations and the shopping mall... Seemed like a Turkish area? We had amazing kebabs for dinner just around the corner! (Opposite Lidl supermarket which is also perfectly handy!) Would stay here again for sure...

Old hotel getting a facelift...

Personally I hate single beds so be sure to check and double check your room has a bigger bed if this might be an issue for you.

Budget Hotel

The staff at this hotel are wonderful. The location is not good. Spend a bit more money and stay more central to tourist attractions if you're a tourist. It's far from main attractions.

Nothing special

the half floor you need to go down to when cooming out of the elevator is not really the best thing with a lot of luggage. The staff was friendely, but when asked about using the lobby computer to print a boarding pass, they did niot know where it was goin to print and when, too far fro airport. woud not go back

Great Value Just North of the City Centre

I choose this hotel partly on cost as well as the fact I had stayed at other hotels within the Wyndham brand elsewhere in Germany and wanted somewhere just a touch off centre.

The hotel is a 10 min walk from the U-Bahn, although there is a tram almost at the front door.

Situated in a typical Berlin courtyard in an older building there is much to recommend about this hotel. Generous rooms with good bathrooms, very comfortable beds, and friendly helpful staff made this a hotel I would definitely stay in again.
