I travels to Berlin to see and meet Marilyn Manson.
I’m disabled (legs, ms and travel with scooter.

The hotel staff put a ramp for my whole visit.
They have wheelchair elevator at the entrance.
The staff is ready to help with anything and always with a smile.
It’s clean,
The breakfast was good,

I enjoyed the hotel and it was close to the concert hall.

The hotel is well situated in a quiet area but walkable to the cetre of Berlin. Our bedroom was were large and comfortable and very quiet at night.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, with excellent English.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay !

Very nice hotel

4 nights stay. Great greetings from 2 employees. Location was not an issue because 3 tramways were running regularly. We were extremely lucky to have a balcony and used it to its fullest. Excellent restaurant and well equipped grocery store near by. Obviously not downtown but quality / price was my reason to stay at this hotel. Highly recommended. Enjoy.

Old Berlin Charm in a Great Neighborhood

This is a perfect hotel for a stay in Berlin. It's in a cool neighborhood but it is an old family hotel with a traditional, atmospheric restaurant on the ground floor. Trams from the Hauptbahnhof and other major stations stop right outside. The place is quiet and super-clean. Rooms and hallways decorated with old posters and postcards and tin commercial signs. Close to great places to eat and drink, or if you are staying in they have fully stocked minibars, not overpriced. It is marvelous value for money. I only booked here because it was close to an apartment I once spent a summer in. But I will stay again!

Very convenient area and a spacious room. A bit old but that was to be expected and made for a nice vibe. Great shops and restaurants nearby and easy access to public transport, felt safe in the area as two young women. Dinner at the attached restaurant was delicious. Would stay again.

Nice-size room, good staff, but…

The hotel staff were very kind and goo-natured. Our only concern was the lack of ability to cool our large three-person suite.

There were two small fans in the suite; one was a small “stick” fan and the other was a 30-cm-wide circular fan with a weak air velocity and a broken height adjuster. These were not adequate to cool the room, especially as it was on an upper floor.

Other than this consideration, we would return to this hotel for a future stay.

The property is old but well maintained. Main entrance has some stairs, so have to carry luggage. There's no lobby or public space to relax outside room. Rooms are basic but spacious. Area is full of dinning, shopping and walking options. All in all, is a good value option.

Nice hotel in a convenient location for bars and cafes, coupled with a tramline to speed you to the tourist attractions, if the walk is not fancied. Hotel staff friendly and the room was modern and clean. Breakfast was continental with few hot options, although there was more than enough variety.

Inexpensive yet clean and pleasant. Hotel is situated in a nice part of town, with many restaurants, of all types, within walking distance. Breakfast served at the restaurant was very good. Most important, as we were tourists coming to explore Berlin for the first time, the tram station is right next to the hotel entrance so that getting around was easy and fast.

Would definitely reccomend!

Helpful staff who were excellent with my very poor german! Lovely clean rooms and excellent breakfast! The staff even helped us printing boarding passes when we were leaving! The tram took us to outside of the door and the ubahn was just a couple of minutes walk away so we could get all around the city so easily!

In the heart of bustling Kollwitzkiez, the hotel is a short walk from Rosenthaler Platz and a short subway ride to Alexander Platz. Easy to get to from the airport too - take FEX (airport express) to Berlin-Gesundbrunnen and switch to the U8 subway, and, then, it's a few stops to Rosenthaler Platz. Lots of multicultural places to eat nearby. The breakfast is expensive for the continental fair you get. The rooms are simple and not fancy. But the convenience and affordability are major plusses that easily outweigh the plainness of the rooms.

Two nights in Berlin

We spent two nights and one and a half days visiting in Berlin. This hotel was very convenient. It is right on the tram line…in fact the tram stop is directly in front of the hotel! You can even take a tram directly to the train station and hop on a train that takes you right to the airport. The hotel desk staff were very friendly, helped us figure out a game plan for seeing the sights, suggested restaurants and provided items we requested (example extra pillows) promptly. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. They didn’t have AC in the room where we stayed but we were there in October. During the day we left the windows ajar to bring in cooler fresh air and then closed them at night. Although it is right on a busy street with a tram, and our room looked over the street on the first floor (which we would call a second floor), when you close the windows and draw the curtains it is very quiet, well insulated from street noise. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is very good, well worth the $15 a person. There is an adjoining restaurant that looks very nice but we didn’t eat there, preferring to dine while out roaming the city. This hotel is basic with respect to “extras”. Bring your own shampoo and body lotion for example. But it is a very nice hotel that we can heartily recommend!

We had a loft room which was cosy. Almost too warm. The staff were amazing and helped us print off a boarding pass (who doesn't use e-tickets these days). The rooms were clean and cleaned in a timely manner. I hate coming back to an unmade bed. The room was a generous size for us and the furnishings were more than adequate. Plenty of hanging space. Not near enough power points to charge our many electronic gadgets (phones, headphones, ipad) but that says more about us than the hotel. The only \"downside\" is the location -- as Berlin doesn't really have a \"centre\" it's a difficult place to walk around. So it's a good 20 minutes to Alexanderplatz. On the upside, the street is filled with funky shops and plenty of cafes. We'd stay again for sure.

I would definitely stay here again but not in very hot weather, as there was no AC in the room (just fan) and it therefore got to hot for me (you may be OK with this). Everything else was fine, including a great shower and a quality breakfast which included decent bacon! Finally the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Tremendous buffet breakfast with a lovely choice. We had a evening meal there which was great. Room was ok but very comfortable. The receptionist staff were very helpful if you had a question, eg directions. The location was very good for transport access and walking distance to shops bars and restaurants. Also just 2 tram stops for rail station in part of city where there are many restaurants, bars, shops, and near the river and the fantastic cathedral. Really enjoyed trip and hotel is definitely recommended.

Very nice experience once we paid $40 a night extra for a room that was air conditioned! Staff was super friendly and helped us get set up with transit and discount cards, plus loaned us great guide books on Berlin. Breakfast was good though lacking in quality eggs.

True Berliner charm

Hotel Kastanienhof is a bit of an oddity on trendy Kastanienallee-- it's 100% old-school German in decor and appeal and steadfastly refuses to dish up international fusion anything- which, of course, makes it desireable to self-conscious hipsters. The reception is lovingly decked out in Berlin memorabilia and the rooms are comfortable and have been modernized without neglecting its German bourgeois roots. If you're looking for Philippe Starck-designed lounge chairs, mood lights and elevator electronica, you won't fin it at Kastanienhof. But the high-quality food at The Ausspanne, the little restaurant attached to the hotel is an added plus, as is its unusually un-gruff German waitstaff. In a weird bout of gastronomic schizophrenia, the all-American cheesecake and brownies on the menu are actually excellent.

The perfect small hotel in Berlin

This was my second stay-the first time with a friend, this time with my husband. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Berlin.
The staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Also there is a small pub/restaurant attached which is charming and convenient.
Prinzlauer Berg is a great area.

This was a very nice sized hotel, not too big, in close proximity to the S-bahn and other points of interest in Die Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg. Very clean, great accommodations and well priced. Would certainly stay here again.

First room was ok but had no windows that you could see out of, just skylights. They were able to move us to another room with a view of the street which was much better. The staff was very nice and their English was good enough to help us with transportation and directions. The street we looked on was pretty noisy but it is a city and to be expected. Nice place would stay there again.

The hotel is in a great funky neighborhood with many restaurants & bars down the street. The tram is also close by; located 2 doors down making it easy to access other parts of the city. The room is simple however pleasantly furnished. The hotel has a lot of old world charm. Our stay was very enjoyable. I would return to this pension next time I'm in town.

Fantastic Place to stay in Berlin

Great location- the surrounding area is full of interesting bars, shops, markets to wander around and visit. Transport superb- trams are great and its only a short walk to more central Berlin. The staff were good- very professional but helpful and went out of their way to make sure our stay was good. Breakfast is excellent- massive choice of food and drinks. We were given a really quiet room at the back which was great. Not sure how noisy the front facing rooms are as its a busy street. We would certainly go back again to this hotel next time we visit.
